My friends and I have been on the hunt for places to go for a good time and this place was not very good. We were going to get food but when the bartender messed up our drinks twice in major ways, we really didn't see the point in trying to order food. Our drink order was taken promptly. We looked at our menus to order food and our server never came back. She hugged a small group as they came in after us, took their order, and were even fed. We waved her down 3 times and weren't acknowledged. After the 4th wave down (30 minutes later) we asked for our tab. One beer, one soda. No tip. Not coming back. read more

I've only been twice which is still a bit premature to give out the whopping five stars, but honestly, if you can sit down at a bar and eat a perfectly cooked platter of chicken marsala, I don't think any other course of action is appropriate. The chicken breast was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy, doused in mushrooms and yummy gravy/sauce (slighlty runny but again, flavor was great) and the mashed potatos were delicious as well. Breadstick kinda sucked but who cares, it's a breadstick. Buddy got the chicken bacon ranch melt or something to that effect and it was awesome as well and their french fries could very well be my favorite in the city. Lots of bar seating, tables, a few games in the back... plenty of beer on tap... Oh, and the largest collection of pull tabs you've ever seen in your life (maybe not true but true for me). Food is always on point. Usually service is great, new guy behind bar paid no attention to anyone but his friends at the bar. We had to ask to order and flag him down to pay, when there were two other tables and an additional bartender working. Sucks to have someone so careless waiting on you. read more

Bad sports bar and I've been probably a dozen times, mostly because they have the Big Ten Network, but the service here is AWFUL. You'll routinely see staff just standing around while your drink is empty, or you want to order food. The service is just so bad that it ruins everything else. read more

This was our first time here and was a little skeptical because of the reviews; but the service was prompt even at 5 pm. I like prime rib and this has been a great experience. The prime rib was cooked perfect (medium rare) I paired it with a Long Island ice tea loaded potato and veggies of the day. I will definitely recommend this restaurant read more

We love this place, usually. But tonight they fell really short. We ordered the pub steak with mac & cheese and house salad (no onions) and the spicy chicken nachos, no onions & no jalapeños. We ordered our food to go and it took about 25-30 mins to get our order. We got home and were totally disappointed. My steak & Mac n cheese was great. The nachos were COVERED in green onions. And my salad was lettuce tomatoes & croutons. Even though I asked if it was similar to a garden salad (had I known it was so boring I would have gotten the garden salad). It's a good thing the request for no onions on the nachos weren't due to an allergy. Tried to call and let them know, no answer. read more

I attended a little party here with one of the girls and wasn't impressed with much of anything. Starving for a snack, one of the regulars suggested the steak with the blue cheese. It was the happy hour version, so I guess I shouldn't have expected much. It was a new york strip, so I thought it would be okay. It was horrible. It was so tough, I felt like I was gonna end up with carpal tunnel syndrome from trying to cut it. I gave up. I'm giving two stars because the staff was nice and they have plenty of TVs, but if I ever go back to that place, I'll stick to more of the traditional bar food. read more

Nachos were ok, it had a lot of nacho cheese (Like the liquid 711 stuff) it was very salty and hard to finish. The wait staff was super nice. Drinks were strong. They had a veggie burger that was great. read more

The West End is by far the best place to watch a game at or just catch up with friends. I have been coming here for years and the drinks and service have been consistently amazing! I remember coming here for my 21st birthday when a friendly stranger offered me a shot of peppermint shnapps. I don't recommend doing that. However, the steak is top notch and highly recommended. I'm very much a fan of the West End. Part of that has to do with living 8 blocks from there but we'll disregard that for a minute. Plenty of tv's and if you're like me and don't really care for most sports except for football you'll be in luck. There's almost always a football game of some kind on whether it's highlights or whatever the NFL network is playing. It's very laid back, and is the sort of place you can go to hang out and actually have a conversation. I've tried most everything on the menu and a I'm a fan of most of it. If you want to eat mostly healthy, it's possible. If you want to eat pub food that's also definitely an option. That's pretty much it for now. read more

Love the West End, the food especially the Pub Steak is amazing, I order it probably 4 out of five visits if not more than that. All the other items I've had are very good too. The pub salad is absolutely loaded with prime rib, turkey, chicken, bacon, cheese and veggies, so big, I always take half home. The burgers are great and the ribs are some of the best I've had anywhere. Did I mention the prime rib? The small portion is not small....just fyi. The service is always friendly and attentive too, even when it's very busy which it often is as it's also one of the best sports bar/restaurants around, tv's everywhere. read more

Waitress extremely rude. My friend and I sat down for about five minutes with the intention of spending 3 hrs there to watch the game. We were threatened by waitress to order something within about 10 minutes of being there or she said she planned to kick us out. We left and I went to another restaurant and ordered my lunch there. Was she going to force me to eat for the full three hours of the game? The place wasn't even crowded. I usually order my lunch halfway through the game. I won't be going back. Older lady with short hair. You are extremely rude and need to understand if someone plans to watch the game for three hours, they do not need to be eating for the entire three hours. read more

I began going to the West End Pub & Grill about a two months ago. At first I found the servers and the service to be quite good; so I continued and I left good tips, as is my custom ($4 for a tab of $16 for example). The servers seemed to care if I was there or not for a time... but the last few times I have been in I have learned that when the place starts to fill up with bigger crowds of people (that may or may not ever come again) then the regulars are completely ignored. I sat with an empty bottle tonight for over fifteen minutes while the servers who are so friendly when the place is dead were walking by me again and again without checking. I will not be going back there again..... Tom PS I want to add that MJ, Mark and Ginny do a good job behind the bar. But they need to educate the servers to take care of the regulars or they might lose them all. read more
