Well updating my review again. Today we took our girls and grandkids and the food was not good . The chicken strips tasted Like sugar was in batter and I'm not talking just a little , the sausage was so tough I couldn't hardly chew it . Cobbler was amazing as usual but that's about it on the food . Waitress was really nice and we were taken care of and plates cleared fast. Place was clean but the changing table I. It's been a while since I have eaten here. Used to love the BBQ, especially the ribs on the buffet. Went today and to my surprise, no ribs. Bummer. Generally the food was OK. The sausage was good along with all the desserts (especially the bread pudding). But the chopped meat was very over cooked. The vegetables were OK. Very disappointed at the overall experience. And north of $20 for one person for lunch, no longer worth it without the ribs. read more

Food was really good for an extremely reasonable price. It was our first time here, and even though there was a sign notifying us that they are currently a little short-staffed, we would have had no clue! Our server Valeria was extremely attentive and every staff member we talked seemed more than happy to help. We chose to do the buffet although they do order off the menu ordering (on weekdays) and a drive through. There is an open bar which was nice to see. It was $40 for two people to eat unlimited buffet which is a pretty good price in my book. Food was awesome, especially the brisket-so tender- and banana pudding. This is my go to spot for bbg, chicken fried steak, and the ( Smoked Chicken Salad ) that is off the wall my favorite. The servers are the best, super friendly and they have a great knack for conversation.. it would you would expect for a small town feel. and friendly folks. We went to eat during lunch on a Thursday. We called ahead to see what was on the buffet. The man on the phone said to " come on in, you won't be disappointed!" He was so right. The food was fresh and everything we tried was delicious. There was a huge selection of food. The staff could not have been nicer. We were only able to try about a quarter of the buffet because there were so many selections. Go try it, you won't be disappointed either! read more

Ate there for the first time today. It wasn't bad and service was actually good despite the complaints in the reviews. The salad bar was missing some core items such as onions, bell peppers, and olives. They had fakos instead of bacon bits which I do not like. The brisket and meats were okay compared to a similar buffet such as golden corral they were excellent but that isn't saying all that much. I feel like they could season their food better and it would be a hell of a lot tastier. That was my main complaint was just how bland everything was. They don't sugar the crust in their cobbler and they don't do literally anything to season the breading on their chicken tenders, for example. The potatoes and onions dish they had was the only thing I tasted that was seasoned well. Even the brisket was bland, but it was cooked okay. I only came in with the expectation that it wasn't absolutely terrible like golden corral has become and it lived up to that, so overall I am happy if not a little underwhelmed. my family loves this place. we only wish it were closer to Waco. when we lived closer we ate there a couple times per week and even now we get there as often as possible. the food is wonderful and although it is buffet the wait staff is professional quick and courteous. We are new to Cleburne and after seating at another local restaurant for over 15 minutes literally being ignore by our waitress and she walked past several times and took the orders of other patrons we headed on down the road and stumbled upon West End Grill. The price was a little high for lunch at $15 a person and $2.50 for a tea (due to staffing they are currently only open until 3pm during the week) but not for what the all you can eat buffet offered. I kid you not, I tried a bit of each item from the cold salads to the hot foods and desserts and not one thing disappointed; from the cut-with-fork brisket, the fried catfish, whole pork chops, hot veggies, fresh salad greens and hot cobblers. The waitress was attentive and the restaurant clean. It will definitely be on our "go-to" list !! read more

History - Back around the mid-'90s this place opened over by the First Wok establishment strip outlet area. Back in those days, it fashioned itself as a sit-down BBQ restaurant, no buffet existed at that time. Later on, in the '90s, they came up with a very limited buffet that was only served during certain days and certain hours, mainly in the pm hours. It was actually extremely good. If I recall they also served breakfast as well. In the late 90's they opened to what is their current location. When they opened in the new building everything was great. They had a buffet and a full menu. Later on in the very late 90's early 2000's. They drop the breakfast menu and the full menu started to slowly disappear from the table, along with that, the food started to slowly slide downwards. Eventually, the smoker they had in the back disappeared and well let's say the rest was history. Buffet - Over the years the buffet has had a little of an identity crisis going on. Nothing is section off as far as cuisine goes and that is how most buffet formats are done. Everything is blob together, you have BBQ, chicken fried steak, pork chops, enchiladas, a while back they had fajitas, chop steak and even meatloaf if I recall correctly all in one area. Just off to the side, you have the usual deserts and adjacent to that you have the salad bar. The salad bar lacks basic items like onions, peppers, real bacon bits, and pepperonis. Also, this is a nonstop buffet as a result of this you have food sitting up there right now as your reading this staying warm for hours. Any quality buffet benefits from having closing hours and opens only during peak hours. Allot of reviewers on here confuse warm food as being good food. Anybody with a decent food palate can clearly tell that much of the items served are way past there prime on serving. Food - Outside of the chop fried potatoes, This place has something against seasoning. Most items served are just plain, bland or tough. The vegetables served is the only bright spot really on the whole buffet. Let's go right down the buffet. Chicken Fried Steak bland, tough and inedible and way overcooked at that. Cheese enchiladas are decent when they first come out and rapidly go downhill after that. Chicken Strips are bland if it wasn't for the white gravy they would taste terrible and also be tough. Pork Chops tough and bland. When they serve sausage it was actually undercooked or not cooked enough sometimes it was cold. Fajitas tough and tasteless when they use to serve them and they never gave flour tortillas with them. Now for the BBQ. At first glance, you would think you're getting the real deal. When you sit down and actually eat the stuff. You begin to realize something isn't quite right. A few years ago the BBQ got really bad and tasted like it was oven cooked, now it appears to be smoked but something is way off the mark. While it tastes smoke it does not taste fresh at all. It tastes nothing like the BBQ you would get in one of the many BBQ joints in Glen Rose. It almost tastes like it was cooked off-site and then reheated several days later. Also, the BBQ is not trimmed it still shows thick fat along the sliced brisket which is gross. The ribs taste the same way and even have an off smell at times. The chop bbq which lays in a pool of bbq sauce taste ok mainly because of it's drowning in bbq sauce. The desserts are decent, not great but decent. Service - Service varies wildly. No sooner you sit down to eat they already bring you the receipt. Staff retention is near zero. You almost always end up with a different person everytime you go there. What used to be a mixed male-female wait staff. Has now gone to an all-female wait staff and primarily male cooking staff. Most of the staff there look bored out of there minds. Marketing - This place several years ago offered coupons for the buffet. It is well known in the restaurant industry. If you offer coupons on your main food things are not going well. Product Line - This place now has a bizarre product line of clothing and knives. The product lined looks more attended to and cared for than the food served. In conclusion - I would rather have this place charge significantly more for the buffet and do things right versus the current state of the buffet. Also if this place resided deep into the metroplex I highly doubt it would survive in its current state. read more

As with all my reviews, I do not tend to give 5 stars to buffet style restaurants. With that said, West End does offer a menu; however, you can't beat the buffet. Now, you have to understand that I am an old country boy who loves to eat good grub. While the buffet is small, it offers pretty much everything I want to eat. Let me get right into the food stuffs: BBQ Ribs - tender, juicy, and delicious. BBQ Brisket - shiny with juicy goodness, tender, flavorful, and delicious. The BBQ sauce is really good here. Catfish - fried to perfection and good, meaty filets. Chicken Fried Steak - pretty decent effort... I have had better; however, the pepper gravy actually has friggin' pepper in it! Mash Potatoes - buttery goodness! Look, I have only been once (so far) and, even though I love to eat, I couldn't put another bite in my mouth. Full does not described what I felt. Absolutely stuffed would be more accurate. The waitress was super friendly and incredibly helpful. It being my first visit, I had a lot of questions and she happily answered every one of them. If you are ever in Cleburne, Texas and looking for some good old downhome BBQ and other grubs, stop in at West End Grill and check out the buffet. One whiff and I bet you will be hooked. read more

West End grill showed promise from curbside, touting itself as a Grill and Cantina. Inside, the fare proved to be a disappointment. The service was good, greeted with a smile and seated quickly, but we soon learned that the only thing that makes the place a grill is I presume there is one in the back and the cantina consisted if a small bar in the corner. The place is a buffet- just a buffet. The food was simple choices closer to a potluck than a restaurant. Food quality was simple, seasonings were few and slight. As I said before the service team was good, kept drinks filled and dirty plates removed, but I can't recommend based on the advertisement of cantina/ grill cuisine and the delivery of bland buffet. Ate here once with my husband a few weeks ago. We were ready to try something new. West End Grill offers a fairly small buffet, but the food is great. The prices had gone up since previous reviews, but still not bad compared to larger restaurants. The service wasn't the best (teenage girls) and some boys they obviously knew came in at some point. They spent most of their time talking to those boys, but they are really only there to make sure your drink is full and your empty plates are clean. Great family place. Also great if you want to eat quickly since it is a buffet. Delicious peach cobbler, too! read more

This place is borderline fraudulent. Apparently the management doesn't know how to correct their website. There is almost nothing on the website menu that you can actually get when you visit..... The website menu would almost make you think that they're an upscale/gourmet establishment...... they're not! If you're hungry for...... buffet (being nice), head On! I give this a 3 star as it is still the cheapest place to go for BBQ This has been our go to place for a few years Sadly we may have made our last trip We make the drive over on Fri the 16th of Feb .2018 The sliced brisket is dry and a little tough, no ribs and peach cobbler gone and no signs of bringing any out. We were told ribs on the way never saw them Go up to pay and they have increased the price 2.00 a person It is now over 30.00 for two people to eat The service was still great and what other foods we had were very good Just the price increase and then not having good BBQ or ribs is not good The other problem is the turnover in waitresses Seems you can never get one that has been there any length of time. You never get used to one that knows you and knows your habits Hate to give the bad review but this is not the first time here in the last couple of months that BBQ has not been up to par Just with the price increase it was to much read more

I've been here a few times and I will say the brisket is pretty tasty. It's an okay buffet and the ribs are a bit different than the barbecue I'm used to. Like I said the brisket is good. I havnt been to this place in 2 years and now I remember why. Not sure if they have a menue or if its just the buffet aince I wasnt offered one. So I had the buffet well I think they made so much food at lunch that we got the left overs. half of the food was cold the other half like the corn, green beans, rice cassarol was so soggy that it felt like baby food. Good thing they couldnt mess up the salad! Even tried to eat dessert well that was a mistake. They didnt have a comment box so I hope they read this. My suggestion would to not make so much food all at once only make enough to put out that can be eaten in 30min or so! read more
