Sliced lean brisket sandwich! I was struggling between wanting to scarf it down and snapping a pic to post a review.

Five stars for a perfect sliced brisket sandwich! Holds its own against any of the big hitters in Fort Worth! The place--a mini food court in a large gas station with Stuckey's Candy and fried pies--is clean, quick, lots of side options, but the sandwich was a standout in this category. It was our second visit to this place and have been happy with our decision to stop on our road trips down to hill country. Ordered with spicy sauce (not too spicy, don't worry), pickles and onions. Bread was the right texture to hold up to the beef which fell apart when I took a bite! Worth the stop if you are in the area!

This is one of the Texas mixed fuel slash restaurant row places. Has a smoke house, Jimmy John's, Fried Pie shop, and an Einstein Bagel shop. Gas is reasonably priced compare to others in the area. Brand new location, opened a few weeks ago if I remember correctly. Staff is helpful and friendly. Super clean inside. Haven't tried the foods yet. Lots of gift shop stuff.

They have multiple sides that you can choose from and they also have peach cobbler and banana pudding that is completely mouthwatering. I've always had excellent service whether it is for a pick up order or if I'm dining in or even sitting at the bar for a drink. The atmosphere is extremely friendly even the customers like chatting with others. So you can walk in alone, but walk out having new friends. I highly recommend Roscoe's Smokehouse in Burleson Texas. They offer great parking, great beer and alcohol beverages, appetizers, and friendly faces! If you love barbecue, then you must try Roscoes Smokehouse conveniently located in Burleson, Texas close to Kroger's and the movie theater .

During lunch, I ordered the smoked turkey and also sampled the sliced brisket. Both were excellent, and I realized I've been overlooking this spot. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and happy to offer samples before ordering, which I appreciated. The atmosphere is well-suited for enjoying quality barbecue with good company. I look forward to returning to try more items on the menu and would highly recommend giving them a visit.

It's walkable, full of shops, and makes for a really fun area to spend some time before or after eating. But the reason you're here is the BBQ, and it delivers. The brisket was the star for me. Super tender, full of flavor, and exactly what you want from Texas BBQ. The ribs were just as good, fall-off-the-bone and well seasoned. The pulled pork was also really solid. I added BBQ sauce, but honestly it didn't even need it. For sides, definitely get the spicy mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. All of them were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. This is easily a spot I'd come back to next time I'm in Dallas.

Shoal's Smokehouse has established itself in my lunch rotation. There are many hits (and a few…read moremisses), but it's a great new edition to Irving's Toyota Music Factory (TMF). Here's my review update. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - First the good - if the weather is nice Shoal's will open their sliding doors and bring TMF's newly remodeled greenspace to you. There's also a full bar in the middle, tons of communal seating, and plenty of TVs on to keep you entertained. The bad - it's super-hot in Texas and parking at TMF will always be a pain. Sorry I complain about this in every TMF restaurant review. 1/2 Star. Service - First the good - the servers are super friendly there's plenty of seating. The bad - ordering by scanning the QR code never works, and your cell phone signal is weak for AT&T customers. However, you can always order from the back and the staff are so nice and helpful, which trumps technology challenges. In other words, skip the QR code and order in the back. 1 Star. Food - First the great - I ordered their fried chicken (dark), and it was pretty darn good. The chicken so very well-seasoned, had a nice crunch outside, and was super juicy on the inside. Not only was I surprised, but I also think this is going to be my go-to dish in the future. Why? Well, their burnt ends, which were tasty thanks to being tossed in some nice, tangy BBQ sauce, were a bit tough to bite into. That seems to be the theme for me at Shoals, I'm more impressed with their non-BBQ items. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I'm a big fan of Irving's Toyota Music Factory (despite the 2% tax on my bill). There are plenty of options withs tons of variety. Add Shoal's to the mix because I'll be back (for the non-BBQ items). 1 Star.

And I come from the part of the country where being light on salt is the default. Now smokiness was well on point. There was some marbling but not enough to deliver a mouthwatering juicy bite. Pulled pork. Same. Severly underseasoned. Smokiness was good and it was juicy. But it didnt matter.. Spicy sausage. My favorite. Seasoned and smoked well. The bread was amazing.

My wife and I just had lunch there today. I decided to try the chicken fried steak, smoked jalapeño gravy, pickled chiles, au gratin potatoes and my wife had the brisket stuffed piquillo peppers, bone broth, cotija. First, the $21 chicken fried steak: It was SEVERELY OVERCOOKED or had been under a heat lamp since Bush was President. (No, not THAT Bush, his dad.) The meat was a rock and the breaded crust was hard, shattering when I cut into it, revealing even more disappointment within. The au gratin potatoes had a vague, disconcerting coffee aftertaste I wasn't expecting (and HATED). A golf course restaurant (Raven's Grille) in Euless has a FAR superior chicken fried steak at a MUCH lower price. I can't believe Woodshed Smokehouse is owned by a chef. Seriously. My wife's lunch was three tiny pieces of brisket (again, severely overcooked) wrapped in piquillo peppers. Although relatively inexpensive at $12, it wasn't even worth that. A "smokehouse" that doesn't seem to understand cooking meat. Odd... and not very Texan at all.
