Apparently, a great restaurant has been in Cleburne this whole time and no one told us. We finally made reservations for their Valentine's menu and were impressed from the start. Jimmie's is tucked just a few blocks from the historic courthouse. It's small and intimate, perfect for a date night, and seating is limited so plan ahead. The four-course meal was excellent. The crab cake with lemon butter sauce was outstanding. I'm not a seafood guy, but this one changed my mind. Melt-in-your-mouth good. The beef filet, ordered medium rare, was perfectly cooked and fork tender. The mashed potatoes were clearly not an afterthought. Heavy cream was involved. Probably some cheese. No complaints there. Jimmie stopped by our table during the meal, and we learned they were celebrating their 7th anniversary. It's not every day the chef checks on your table. That says something. We finished with cheesecake, rich and creamy, with several topping options. The only thing I would have added was a cup of coffee to go with it. Expect fine dining prices, but the quality matches it. As a private chef, I rarely eat out because I dread experiencing poor food and subpar service. My dinner at Jimmie's tonight reminded me exactly why. For a place charging premium steakhouse prices, the entire evening was a masterclass in culinary incompetence and atrocious hospitality.The failure began the moment we sat down. It took our waiter 15 to 20 minutes just to take our drink orders. We requested water with lemon and a glass of moscato. He brought out just over cooled water with zero ice and no lemon. The moscato--which should be sweet and bright--was incredibly dry.When the food finally arrived nearly 30 minutes later, the kitchen managed to mess up both entrees:The Truffle Chilean Sea Bass ($55.00): This was a complete insult. Chilean sea bass is highly prized for its clean, buttery taste and thick, tender flakes. What I was served was a small, flat, dense, and rubbery piece of fish that was unbearably, insanely fishy. To make matters worse, the "truffle" sauce had completely broken on the plate. It possessed absolutely zero truffle flavor and instead tasted like a disgusting, heavy combination of cheap cheese and pungent mustard. My side were bosched also--the mediocre mashed potatoes I ordered were missing entirely, and it was just served with firm broccoli. I could barely stomach a few bites. Thankfully my husband ate some for me. The Steak: My husband ordered a 16 oz blackened sirloin cooked medium rare. Instead, they brought him an 8 oz prime sirloin. While it was technically a pink medium-rare, the meat was shockingly dry and chewy. The waiter's only solution was to take it back to flash-blacken it (which would have completely overcooked the inside) or make him wait another 30 minutes for a new one. Because he was starving, he had to accept the wrong, subpar steak just to eat.To cap off the night, our waiter didn't bother checking on us until we were almost completely finished. When I told him the fish was unbearably fishy, there was no apology or attempt to fix it. Instead, he condescendingly tried to lecture me, claiming that "sea bass is supposed to be fishy." I have cooked and eaten high-end seafood for years; fresh sea bass is never fishy.On a $130 bill, we left a 10.00 tip, which was incredibly generous given that the service at a 24-hour diner blows this place out of the water. The waiter had the audacity to get visibly agitated when he saw the tip. He is lucky he got a single cent for the absolute disrespect and terrible food he served to paying customers.Save your money and go literally anywhere else. Jimmie's is an embarrassment. read more

Lady Vi was our waitress and she was a joy- Informative, bubbly, kind! The food was simple but in the best ways possible- the flavors were out of this world, everything cooked to perfection, nothing over done, everything on the plate had a purpose and yes get the truffle butter on your steak! The broccolini was incredible and I don't like broccoli, wish I had ordered that as my veggie! Fate had us change our original plans due to a "private party" at a different restaurant in Cleburne Friday night. We ended up finding Jimmie's and got Rock Star parking right in front of the door. We were uncertain initially, but ventured into Jimmie's restaurant. A lovely young lady greeted us after taking care of drinks for other guests. I got to sit in one of the church pews along the wall. It was a little low, but I grabbed a pillow to feel at table-level. No tap beers, but I had a great Bock beer from FTW. I had the menu from Yelp pulled up, but was told to use the one from Facebook because they change it up seasonally. We ordered up the Stuffed Portabella. The shroom was piled high with sautéed spinach and a crab cake. Very yummy and I recommend it. Wife debated between Stuffed Salmon & the Beef Filet. I reminded her we are in Beef country and the young lady says steaks are Jimmie's specialities. She went with the Filet and Brussel Sprouts. I chose the boneless Mango Ribeye with Mac/Cheese. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides graced the meal well. Jimmie came out of the kitchen to check we enjoyed our meal. He is self-taught 20 years of cooking. From the appetizer - fresh cut zucchini fries with a spiced remoulade sauce - to the choice of 2 grilled steaks - 16 oz bone in strip or a 20 oz bone in T-bone - to the grilled pound cake with fresh fruit. Fabulous food! I've been there many times and have never been disappointed in a meal. Jimmie is the chef and specializes in meat, but his salads and vegetables are mouth watering too. There was a very limited menu which was only accessible through Facebook and there wasn't a price in sight. No bread or crackers served with meal.
