Historic building and down home hospitality! Love that they are family and group friendly! Loaded nachos were excellent and tasted like they were made with love! High top and regular height tables. Hickory Tree located In Joshua,Texas. I have been coming to this establishment, since they opened, for great food and mixed drinks. Staff is always upbeat and helpful. Tonight, starting with White Russian and ordered Chicken Del Rio, (baked chicken breast) with a delightful cream sauce, baked potato and seasoned vegetables which were squash and zucchini. All was very good and I love their jalapeño cream sauce. After eating I chatted with the waitress, Melissa, greeter Aylen and also another nice bubbly young lady named Alise. All the young ladies were sweet, there was a lot of smiles and laughter. The establishment was clean, organized and well kept . In the Bar area they TV Screens and happy people ! Outstanding location. Open concept and beautifully done in a old rehabilitated building. Huge bar, bottle, draft, mixed and wine. Texican type place. Brisket infused food choices, great burgers, chicken fried steak. Just a great place for Joshua. Feels like something you would expect to find in FW. It's semi foodie which I like. Definitely will be going back. Food was delicious, felt like the brisket tacos were a little over sauced on the sweet side. The smoke and texture was plenty good to carry the dish IMO. Burger out of this world good, the Texican is amazing. Home cut fries aren't my thing in general bc it's hard to get them crispy. I think that's how home cut fries are in general. I think this place was really talked up so I was expecting so much more. I ordered the Chicken fried chicken which was bad but I also ordered the Cajun gravy and for a $3 charge it was delicious cut barely covered my chicken. My mashed potatoes and corn were not hot they seemed as though they had been sitting out for a while. We ordered my grandson fries and grilled cheese and it was ok. I did love the fried pickles. They are the spears not the slices which my husband didn't care for but I loved them!!! We plan to return I think I will just order something else next time. I've had a good experience each time I've been there! The bonus is there are new restaurants opening nearby too just in case it's a long wait. Now to the food, delicious! I've stuck pretty well to the chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy. Love the corn on the side and fries or mashed potatoes are good too. My son has the pork bbq sliders which he loves and my wife has had the brisket nachos and a couple of other things.... No dissapointment yet. If I were to name a complaint, sometimes a little slow but usually its crowded when it is slow so kinda goes with the territory. read more

10/18/20 Sunday 3:00 pm. This place used to be the next city over and just never got a chance to try, I so missed out! This location is great; the restaurant is industrial but not cold, perfect for old town. It is a biscuit concept restaurant earlier in the day and at 3:00 it changes to Hickory Tree and dinner. It was pretty quiet when we came in. We ordered the fried pickles which were spear and not chips. They were excellent not too greasy nor salty. We split a smoky meatloaf dinner with 2 sides we choose green beans and cajun mashed. The meatloaf was perfect not overly heavy as most meatloafs can be the bbq sauce that it is topped with is made in house and set off the smoky meatloaf delicately. The mashed were hot, a little zip and had a great flavor as well. Lastly green beans a little spicy as well with bits of bacon and well seasoned. Great meal and shout out to Araceli our most excellent server! Forgot to take a picture. Priced well, hot food, solid meal, excellent service!! Dessert next time and there will be a next time! This was our first time at this location and we really liked it. Our waitress was very nice and fast. We had chips queso and salsa, queso and chips were both hot and really good. We both got beer bartered fish tacos which came with queso and chips. The tacos were very good. I will probably get them again. Our son had grilled cheese and French fries. His grilled cheese was one of the best grilled cheeses I have ever had. It was made with Texas toast and it was so good. Fries were also great! We will be back. read more

Off of newly developed Main Street in Joshua, a relaxed country vibe with the best chicken fried chicken you can find. Perfectly crispy brown with a lip smacking cornflake crust served with what tasted like my momma's homemade gravy. Fresh home cut fries tender and crispy, with a side of refried beans(had to try them). I'll be honest, their home cooking is on point, but skip the beans, they were pretty tasteless and very dry (see pic). The server was nice even suggested we try out their brunch but i wasn't that impressed with the food so idk we may or may not come back. My wife and I have date night every Friday night and usually go to a restaurant in downtown Joshua, TX. The one we have frequented for the last several months is fairly busy at the bar, where we like to sit, so we thought we would try the Hickory Tree Grill this evening. The bar was very nice and we got a seat at the bar right away, so it started very nice. Our waitress (red haired lady. sorry didn't catch her name) was very nice and very attentive. My wife ordered the BBQ meatloaf and the portion was a great size for the price (two large slices of meatloaf) at around $16-17. I ordered the Chicken Del Rio and was very disappointed. There were two chicken breasts, one was very small and the second one must have been a baby chick because I could have hidden it in the palm of my hand. For almost $17, I didn't have enough chicken to save for leftovers. My wife wants to give it a second chance but I think I'll be back at the restaurant next door to get a lot more food for the price, even if I have to get there earlier to get a chair at the bar. read more

I have been to Hickory tree many times. I recommend it to many of my friends. The food is good. The only thing I did not care for was the open face chicken pot pie. I love to go for breakfast after church on Sundays. The service has been very good. The atmosphere is good and you can always meet great people at the bar. read more

Had a 6 person professional dinner planned for HTG and felt that manager Chris and the hostess team made nice accomodations by us for giving us some dedicated space and paying a bit more dedicated attention to our needs. We thought the food was unique and very tasteful. Salsa is excellent, the steaks and chicken dinners very good and we finished the night with their really very good Key Lime Pie. While HTG is not the place to visit for vegetarian options - they did accommodate one of our guests by preparing an avocado dish and some additional vegetables for his dinner - nice touch. Friendly attentive service, reasonable prices, happy hour beverages -although maybe I'm spoiled by large wine glasses & thought the HTG 6 oz pours to be on the light-side.
