Hickory Tree is a great place to hangout and eat good food. Not to mention the good service.

Very disappointed. The atmosphere is cool and that's about the only positive. It took awhile for us to get seated and they weren't busy. Once seated we waited awhile for our server to even take our drink order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My patty melt was ok. Just nothing special especially at that price. My husband's chicken fried steak was barely edible. Lots of tasteless batter and the meat was tough and chewy. They even managed to make his corn and mashed potatoes to be bad. The best thing about the meal was the fresh cut fries. So if you just want fries you'll love it. We won't be back. read more

Saturday lunch-hour, able to sit quickly. Food tastes fresh and delicious... staff was very friendly. No problems accommodating substitutions. Went with no bun they offered lettuce bun for substitute. And no fries, was able to substitute vegetable medley. Great experience. read more

Very large portions. Service is great. The environment is decent. It's not the first place I choose, but for me it's a decent backup.

2nd trip to this restaurant. OMG who would have thought corn would be exciting, usually its just filler but it was outstanding, sweet, savory with just a little bite, the chicken fried steak was just right, some places try to dazzle you with size but this one was just the right portion, perfectly battered and fried with the BEST GRAVY ON EARTH. I am not a fan of gravy and usually scape most of it off because its just a bag of Sysco white gravy they heated up and put on to say its got gravy, this is not that gravy. Wifes chicken fajitas where well cooked and still moist and flavorful, even the toast was perfect, nothing was greasy or over worked just perfectly done and carried out by attentive waitstaff that took care to make sure we loved everthing. Barbara was our server and she made a point of remembering my name from our previous visit, way to go! If you are going to make use of the outstanding bar menu make sure you have a designated driver, there is no filler materials in the moonshine and they don't light pour. Train tracks ( house drink) came out in a highball glass FULL of liquor. read more

Delicious food and good service! Friendly wait staff. Drinks are good too! Husband and I went today just as they opened at 3pm. He had meatloaf and I had the chicken del Rio. Both were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. We've been before and had the chicken fried steak w/Cajun gravy and the pork chops...mmm-mmm-mmm. Today was my first visit to Hickory Tree. My son found it when searching for a new place to eat Lynch that wasn't a fast food chain. We were not disappointed!!! Our server was so sweet and took very good care of us, making sure all was right and keeping my water and my sons Dr Pepper filled. My son got the grilled cheese brisket Mac n cheese sandwich, replacing the potato salad with refried beans. It was delish! So creamy and flavorful! And the refrieds were so good. I don't know what all goes in them but they are seasoned just right! I had the steak taco and the brisket taco. The steak taco is very good, tender meat and good flavor, but I will just have to say that the brisket taco is fantastic! I could have eaten quite a few of that one! Crispy shell that has cheese grilled on to the tortilla! In fact, my son took a bite and ended up ordering one at the end of the meal! Hey, Brisket Taco can be dessert, right? We had a five star experience here this evening. My husband enjoyed the New York strip which was cooked to a juicy, tender perfection. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were delicious as his sides. I enjoyed the chicken fajitas. The chicken was seasoned really well and made for delicious fajitas! We had plenty to eat, and our waitress checked on us frequently. We split a piece of chocolate cake which was decadent, rich, and the perfect ending to a great dining experience. We were thoroughly pleased, and we'll be going back there again! read more

We've been twice and both times is was just ok. Food is lower quality. Probably won't go back.

Good food, but expensive for the serving size. TERRIBLE service tonight. We had the fried pickles the first time we came and they were great so we were excited to order them again tonight. They changed the recipe and are now spicy. Could not eat them. They were terrible. We were going to send them back and order something else but the waitress did not come back until she brought our entrees. A Young blonde girl was our waitress and she never came to check on us once we had our food. We had to ask another waitress for more to drink. Had to ask another girl (apparently she is Allie, the manager) where our waitress was. She (Allie) was not very nice either, and seemed unhappy. She could tell we were pissed. We decided to ask to see a manager before we left and that's when we found out it was Allie. No point! They won't stay in business long with service like this. read more

I have been twice since the opening and have 2 more dates on my calendar to go this week! Like sweet-ish martinis? Ask for the (not on the menu) "Undercurrent" it's delish. My fav so far is the grilled cheese complete with pulled pork and Mac n cheese! The side of potato salad that comes with it was also very tasty. We also had their potato skins topped with the same melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork. This place is a great replacement for the not so great previous burger joint that used to be in the same location. We've enjoyed everything we've had here! It's usually pretty busy, so go ready to wait for a table. We enjoy their specialty cocktails. My favorite dish is the brisket nachos. Homemade potato chips, queso, brisket, etc. different but sooo good. My husband loves the smoked meatloaf. They also have our favorite fried pickles with homemade ranch. Service was okay, not great. Food seemed to be all covered in cheese, which didn't help that we had free chips and queso with a coupon we had. I had the hickory tree burger and it had good flavor but after I finished half I realized it was mostly cheese I was tasting. The tomato was diced which is not your typical style but still good. The mashed potatoes were decent. Also had the brisket taco, too cheesy and wouldn't recommend. The blue ribbon chicken taco was decent in comparison. The del rio chicken was moist. Didn't have it with the sauce on top but on the side. Found the sauce to be spicy but good. Again, the chicken was covered in cheese. Vegetables were green beans and carrots which were cooked well and very fresh. The corn was nothing special. Overall I'm not sure if I would return. The outdoor seating area looked nice. Inside initially walking in feels like you've gone in the back door and there isn't much decoration in the first seating room. Talking with the hostess we were being pushed towards sitting at the bar for some reason but we asked for a table instead. Before we ordered we overheard someone being compensated for the taquitos not tasting right. You be the judge. read more

If you want to surprise those Burleson taste buds, this is the place to do it at! The pairing of flavors is by far the best I experienced in my few months in Burleson. Fish tacos were surprisingly one of the best I've ever had, and we are from Cali-home of the fish taco lol... The cajun sauce I thought would be weird, but it was totally bomb! Shared the fajitas once and they were perfectly cooked and tortillas were on point, maybe homemade?? Del Rio Chicken dish, white bean chicken chili and wedge salad all delicious. Best food in Burleson, period. I have eaten in all the major cities at all the hottest restaurants and had low expectations for Burleson when it comes to fine dining. Now while I wouldn't classify this as fine dining, the flavor combinations, menu and quality of food are reminiscent of fine dining. I have tried most of the menu and can say the New York strip with the Cajun mash potatoes is the best I have had in a long time and the White Bean Chicken Chili is lights out with a hint of Cilantro! Great staff, great booze selection, extremely nice and extremely well-priced lunch menu. Only downside I have seen so far is it is tricky spot to find as it is just a little bit down from the main strip in Burleson. You have to pass a few hot spots to get to it. Maybe that is by design. I eat lunch here 3 times a week. read more
