we arrived about 11:30. The table next to us was finishing up. it was my husband and I, along with our 14 and 10 yr old daughters. we ordered promptly, the table next to us left. we waited. Another group was seated next to us. Their food arrived. Our kiddos were hungry and impatient and kept pointing out tables being served all around us that had arrived after us. I got up and found our waitress entering an order into a computer (or something in a computer) and very politely apologized, saying. I know yall are busy, but told her our issue. She said she'd check and then came to our table and told us she wasn't sure what happened but our order would be next. She also told us our entire meal would be comped. She was very nice and apologetic. The girls counted at least 5 more orders served around us and the table next to was finishing and paying. We decided to give them 5 more minutes. it was now 12:18 and we were walking out at 12:23. At 12:21 our food arrived. A couple who I assume are the owners both apologized. We said we understood and that stuff happens. The male said he had "mixed up tickets". When the server brought our ticket she says the owner would only comp 20%. We weren't trying to eat for free but honestly feel like after nearly an hour wait (meanwhile the table next to us now had the 3rd family eating at it), and a promise of a fully comped meal, that the owners should have at least done a 50% comp. We'll look at this as a good lesson for our daughters in showing grace because people do make mistakes but meanwhile we'll never go back to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone again. I do have copies of the receipt showing the 20% and the copy where we paid, tipping about 17.5%. We're normally better tippers, and I'd planned on giving the server $20 on a comped bill. As we were leaving she told us, had it been left to her she would have comped 100% and she also blamed another server for grabbing our orders to give to other customers. Maybe this cafe should reevaluate their processes. I'm honestly not sure where the blame falls, but do feel that our frustration and wait time was worth more than $10.

Very nice restaurant good food, and great service and the atmosphere was great I would suggest stopping here in Alvarado Texas.

This is their version of a cheeseburger. I guess the never heard of sliced cheese. Good luck folks.

The reuben sandwich was the thinnest and smallest I've ever seen. With a table spoon of sauerkraut. Waitress was fabulous and friendly. Tried hard to correct problem but cook staff may not understand English. Ended up switching to a burger. Much less room to mess up. Figured they had more practice. But....

Hadn't been to Best Burger Barn in a long time, but the burger still holds up. I got the…read morecheeseburger and it was really good -- fresh meat, fresh toppings, and just a solid classic burger. Mine had romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and mustard, and everything tasted fresh. Kincaid's is still my #1 and Marty B's near Argyle is #2 for me, but Best Burger Barn is a strong #3 and still in my top 5 burgers. Only downside is the inside could use a little updating since it feels a bit run down. But if you're going for the burger, it's definitely worth it.

These are beer battered which typically I'm not a big fan of but these are really good. The onions are sliced big which again not generally a fan but they are good! Cheese curds were good as well. I had them last time. This time they were just past the perfectly cooked point cuz the cheese had oozed out to where they all were about half hollowed out. But still good and did not have an over cooked grade by any means. We would order again as well. I am happy with a hamburger all the way and get the senior /kids burger and it's plenty big enough since I eat curds and onion rings ( and cobbler). His double meat was cooked perfectly and both were dressed nicely and with care which we appreciate staff taking the time to do. Waitstaff had great timing. Again one staff for the room and they do an excellent job handling everyone. Our order can exactly when and how we requested. We did get pecan cobbler to go and blackberry cobbler to eat here. I would probably pass on the blackberry next time. Can't say about the pecan yet. It can out of the fridge and seemed to have been in there for a few days. There was condensation dripping inside and it was ice cold. And it kinda had a soupy texture, but not from blackberry liquid if you know what I mean, but rather from sitting in the fridge and collecting condensation They also season with cinnamon it tasted like which would not be my choice if I was making it. But all else we would order again. We will defiantly be back again.

Hubbers and cuzzo decided on Whataburger since it was convenient. Plus, we all remember really liking it the last time we had it. Since it was almost 1am, it made sense that we were the only customers on hand. The whole place was clean (given, since there were no other customers), chairs and tables in place. No clutter. Hubbers, Cuzzo and I decided to park and walk in. (At the same time, in a separate car, nephew-in-law and his party of 3 went through the drive thru.) We were buying grub for a few other people who weren't with us. I much prefer no mustard or pickles on my burgers, but I didn't want to complicate things. I figure I'd pluck the pickles out when I get it and just let the mustard be. How bad could it get...? Crew member had to ask us to wait because there was no cash box. Once that was settled, we put in 5 orders of Whataburger combo, chicken strips and a chicken sandwich combo. Took a minute and then some, and then we were on our way back to our hotel. Cuzzo brought three orders up to his room for his wife and kids and came back down to join Hubbers and I to eat at the dining area. So, two HUGE snags here. 1) One of the sandwiches was a cheeseburger. (What?! We didn't order this!) So we figured nephew-in-law's drive-thru order was a cheeseburger short! He said he didn't care at this point. It's late, he's hungry, etc... 2) As planned, I plucked out all the pickles off my burger - and it was A LOT, gotta say. (Great for pickle lovers!) But even then, why is my sammich still extra sour?! I thought it was just me, but Cuzzo just happened to mention it. Too much mustard, maybe?! But it was not good. The sour was way too overwhelming that kinda halfway through, I decided to just go protein style and dumped everything but the patty. Good thing we had sides of fries and onion rings to taper down the tang embedded in our taste buds. Hubbers loved his chicken sandwich and strips, though, so at least there's that. FOOD: 1.5. Cuzzo and I did not enjoy that at all. SERVICE: 2. There's no reason for the mishaps. We were the only customers. We gave no indication we were in a rush. They had every opportunity to get it right. VALUE: 2. PARKING: Not an issue at at 1am. OVERALL: 1.75. I asked nephew-in-law if they were missing a cheeseburger on their order. "Nope." We were also disappointed to find out later they didn't have the chili burger (we saw ads on our drive south the next morning.) I mentioned this to someone I know who used to work at a Whataburger. One explanation he had was that crew did not drain off the pickles - they got the pickles out of the jar which unnecessarily drenched the bread with pickle juice. "They're suppose to drain the pickles, not pluck them out of their containers." There's a good chance I won't find myself anywhere around this 'hood anytime soon, but even if I did, I wouldn't return to this particular spot. It simply was NOT GOOD.
