Sausage, brisket, and pork shoulder. Sausage was tasty, served at the perfect temperature, and not greasy. Brisket was moist and full of flavor. Pork shoulder was tasty, as well, but a bit dry, perhaps a bit overcooked, which is why I'm only giving this place four stars. Regardless, it is certainly worth stopping in. This place was recommended by someone so we tried it. it was ok. I went expecting something on par or better than Dickies BBQ. We tried the brisket and the regular sausage, Mac n cheese, and the beans. The sausage was great. The brisket was lacking in flavor and was very fatty, bf barely touched it. And the Mac and cheese seemed more watery than anything, maybe we just came towards the end of the day? The service was excellent and they were very nice. The ambiance was ok, open seating, relaxed, and very clean. If you're passing through on a trip or long work day, I would recommend the sausage and beans with the spicy sauce. reason for the two stars is that I've had much better bbq, I need to see that the whole motorcycle gang is parked out front or else you have some work to do. read more

When you're in Texas, you have barbecue. And not just any barbecue, it has to be brisket. It's the law! Buffalo Creek is the surviving barbecue joint here in Cleburne and at the moment (COVID), they are take out only. Friendly service and it's sliced up to order. The usual sides are also available. I got a two meat plate with brisket and ribs, which was packed into the usual styrofoam container with two small tubs of sauce. I also got a side of onions and pickles which went nicely with the meat. Ribs were solid and meaty. The brisket was tasty and had just the right amount of "moist" to scoop up. 01/10/2024 Wednesday 7:45pm. Located in a strip mall the place is sparsely decorated. The service was outstanding, despite the fact that they were closing in 10 minutes. A young woman and young man helped me. They were out of about 1/3-1/2 of the sides. I get it. I had the two meat plate with 2 sides. Moist brisket and jalapeño sausage. Sides were green beans and potato salad. The moist brisket was pretty good it had a decent smoke flavor, I prefer more bark. Seasoned well but lacking depth of smoke. The jalapeño sausage was mealy, dry and didn't have any spice at all. The jalapeño was in there just couldn't taste it. The baked beans were pretty good with bits of onion and brown sugar sweetness. The potato salad was sweetish too as expected the potatoes weren't undercooked. I appreciated that! I will probably give them another try. From beef brisket to pulled pork to sausage to whole or half chicken (Thursday's only), you will not be disappointed, you will be impressed. Try the Cowboy beans and the Coleslaw. I'm a nurse that picked up 4 shifts here in Hillsboro TX and just wanted something good to eat. The BBQ was great. Very tasty! 30 to 45 minutes later I began projectile vomiting. The very same way it was swallowed is the very same way it came out! I threw up all over my hotel room floor and when I went to clean it up the BBQ wasn't breaking down after sitting in my stomach. Some of the best BBQ I've found outside of major Texas cities. Brisket was moist with awesome flavor. I highly recommend the turkey as well the jalapeño beans had great flavor. The max and cheese was great as well. It's a small but quaint little place. They are relocating to a new place at the end of the month. Well we use to love this place but it has turned to shit. First off I ordered the loaded baked potato and it had only a few pieces of meat that were grisly and more fat than meat . I asked for extra butter and cheese and that didn't happen as the potato was so dry even after getting more bbq sauce to put on it . Then I ordered peach cobbler which was a huge mistake as it was just mush . Wtf?? My guess either they have changed owners as I haven't seen the original ladies in there or their kids are running it ( into the ground ). Then to top it all off they have a tv In that small area that you eat blasting some kids cartoon which by the way the 3 kids were not even watching . The workers were really friendly. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. I got a mini plate which comes with one meat and two sides. For the meat I got jalapeño sausage and they put sauce on top of it, but honestly I did not like the taste of the sauce. For my side I got macaroni and cheese, but the cheese tasted weird and was cold. The potato salad was really good though and tasted homemade. The prices were a bit expensive too and with how the food tasted, it was not worth it really. I've lived in Texas my whole life and have had better BBQ in Texas, so I would definitely advise people wanting Texas BBQ to go elsewhere. read more

Just a heads up for those of you eating at Buffalo Creek BBQ in Hillsboro. I ordered a two-meat plate (8oz) to go, and was very disappointed when I was shorted on the brisket receiving just 2.9oz. Yes I did call them to let them know, the young man on the phone would not give me their name, would not give me the manager's name and said it was impossible I got less than 4oz of brisket. I recently discovered Buffalo Creek BBQ this past week and was able to go twice! It is quite a bit away from me, since I live in Dallas. I would say if you are in the Cleburne/ Godley area it is definitely worth the visit! I am definitely not the biggest lover of BBQ, I blame that from not originating from Texas. This place changed my mind. I have the brisket sandwich with spicy sauce and it was finger licking good! For my two sides, I had collard greens and cornbread salad. Their cornbread salad is like NO OTHER! I recommend everyone trying that out at least once. It is sweet and subtle but honestly so good that you don't want to leave one crumb on your plate. The food is very affordable. Just about everything on the menu is $10 or less. So you will not break the bank here! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. On a friend's recommendation, we had the baked potato with brisket. Their food is really good, and there are a lot of ways they do it. Desserts are good. The Boston cream pie and lemon meringue were outsourced but good. We will try the homemade desserts next time. Culinary artisans are fun to watch in operation. read more

This was a nice surprise! I was craving some barbecued sausage and we were driving down 67 on a Sunday evening. So glad I found this place on Yelp and they're open until 9pm on Sundays! I had the Little Smokies plate of jalapeño sausage which is a smaller portion of meat but still includes two sides and Texas Toast. ($7.99) It was perfect for me. My hubs had the combo plate w sausage and sliced tender brisket. ($10.99) I had the green beans and turnip greens which were both really good. Hubs had the creamy potato salad w turnip greens. Sides are 'serve yourself' so you can pile it if you're hungry! ;) The green beans and turnip greens had a little kick on the end but we like that! True Texas barbecue!! The ladies were very nice. Large cups of ice for your yummy iced tea and it was all very reasonable!! To the person that said it was like psycho in there: they actually take their sliced beef and chop it thoroughly for their chopped beef sandwich and their Texas trash so it's not just fat and ends and crap that other places use for "chopped beef". Its alright. DEFINITELY not in my "top 10" bbq places. Or even 20. 1st time I stopped in, their register wasn't calculating tax- so I was turned away(how hard is it to add 8.25%???lol). So, I come back weeks later and register is fixed, but they are out of Diet Coke. Major upset for me, as I hate tea and do not drink high fructose corn syrup. Had a few other minor issues that imply this place is very disorganized. But people were nice. FOOD: (DISCLAIMER: this was about 4pm. Not exactly prime time). Brisket was dry. I asked for "hot sauce"(see reason, above) and Im prettysure they gave me salsa. Lol But the most important take away here is GOOD BRISKET DOES NOT NEED SAUCE. Ribs tiny. Ham was good(even if cold). Very good barbecue... original Texan barbecue all the way... great side dishes. The ribs were superb, with plenty of meat, very tender but still consistent tonthe bone ... just perfect. The brisket was amazing and everything topped by a homemade Texas barbecue. As a side dishes we had Turnip greens with perfect spice gearing towards the hot side and the cole.slaw were originals, interestingly enought the side of toast buttered and with a little oil on the grill was perfect to clean off the remaining sauce on the plate. Pretty decent bbq, not special, but not terrible I got sliced brisket, bologna, potato salad and baked beans. It was all good, but the bologna was cold and didn't look like it had even really been smoked. If i could have replaced that with the jalapeño sausage my friend got i would have been happy. I'd recommend this place if you were in Cleburne looking for a bbq pit, but i wouldn't say it's worth a drive in from the interstate. read more

We had high hopes getting brisket in Texas...theirs wasn't nearly the best we've had. We got 1.5 pounds and about a third was moist and the rest was dry and needed sauce. Not a great smoke ring but tasted Smokey. Also got some sausage, it was okay but not overly flavorful and a little bland. We got baked beans abs Mac n cheese for sides.
