I ordered 2 kids meals (pancakes & bacon) and a breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were so hard the kids couldn't cut them with a knife. What's up with all the Christian music in every Weck's location? My husband and I have been to several Weck's locations in Albuquerque lately, at various times of day, both weekdays and weekends, and they seem to be playing nothing but Christian Rock. And while although we don't have a problem with any type of music in public places occasionally, the nonstop barrage of Christian Nationalist anthems while we're eating (and paying good money for) is simply too much. For a metropolitan community which claims to be as culturally diverse and inclusive as Albuquerque does, we find this particular religious accompaniment both blatant and offensive. After all, if you want to publicize religion, what about the Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, or Native American beliefs? Why is their types of music not being listened to and represented? This is pure discrimination, and frankly, it's not right. That said, until Weck's starts to embrace the multicultural city which predominates their revenue stream, my husband and I will be boycotting this particular local chain. read more

When asking around for a breakfast spot with generous portions, friendly prices, and awesome New Mexico taste (preferably with chiles), the unanimous winner was Weck's. So, off we went! I normally go all out on the food portion of my review first but I feel the need to mention the service first for Weck's. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the host and was informed of their specials that day. Within seconds, we had our waitress bringing us water and taking our order with her checking up on us in the perfect time intervals. Keep in mind, this was all while the restaurant was nearly packed. Great job staff! The food was awesome too. Remember what I said in the beginning of the review about portions, prices, and taste? Well, we got it and more! The chicken fried steak burrito I got (with green chiles on top!) was amazing with a great ratio of everything especially the hash browns. Friendly and Great energy at this location! My Carnitas Burrito was very reasonably priced especially since it was served as a plate. It was loaded with Carnitas and just enough chile so it wasn't soggy! The hash browns were crispy and the pinto beans were a beautiful light color. The place was pretty full but we got a seat right away, but I was concerned that the food delivery might delay the start of our adventure. Nope. Whoever is running the kitchen at Weck's is a masterful manager. The food came so quickly I thought they may have read our minds out in the parking lot. I got Juevos Rancheros and my wife got the chicken fried steak burrito. Both were wonderful, flavorful and there was a lot of food. Service, too, was speedy and the place is really clean to boot. Today, we decided to eat at the Coors location near Cottonwood Mall. We arrived around 1:20 PM and were seated immediately. Several other tables in our vicinity were seated at the same time. After waiting until 1:35 PM with no service, we flagged down a staff member who said she would get our server. It took another 4-5 minutes before our server arrived. She apologized for the delay, explaining she wasn't aware of a section change, and took both our drink and food orders. At that time, the table next to us--also seated when we were--still hadn't been greeted. Shortly after we ordered, they were finally acknowledged. However, they received their food before us. A new table was then seated next to us, placed their order, and also received their food before we did. After about 20 minutes of waiting, my husband approached the manager to ask about our order. She said she would check but never provided an update. We waited just under an hour and still hadn't received our food. The newly seated table received their meals before us, and at that point, we decided to leave--an hour after we had been seated. As we were walking out, the manager stopped my husband while holding a plate of chips and salsa, offering them with no explanation for the delay. We had ordered a Papa Bowl, chicken enchiladas, and a value eggs plate, pretty simple. The server thought the burritos were of the same size, but she was a little uneven. My burrito did NOT have enough carne adovada in it. Don't think Ill be ordering that again. Back at Weck's twice in one week, but to 2 different locations. This time we tried the one near Cottonwood in Albuquerque. The service was quick and efficient. Our order came out of the kitchen quickly and I forgot to take pictures of them, because we were sooooo hungry and could not wait to dig in. The spinach omelette was as good here as at the RR location, except our gal forgot to make the order change from cheddar to Swiss. I did not complain, and have to wait for another to be whipped up. My friend had the everything omelette with green chili's and a side of bacon. Got done scrambled eggs to go with bacon and an English muffin. He will enjoy later. The ice teas were refilled and even got a large cup to go. The prices here are great. Do not forget the Senior discount. read more

I ate at this restaurant today with a friend. I ordered the luncheon burrito with beef. The tortilla was dry with not much sauce. I opened it up and there was ground beef almost black it was so overdone and no sauce. I sent it back because it was inedible and ordered Eggs Benedict - I don't know what kind of sauce was on top but it definitely wasn't Hollandaise and it was suppose to come with hash browns which it didn't. The whole dish was almost awful. The waitress said she showed the burrito dish to the manager - did he come out and apologize - no. Did I ever see him on the floor greeting the customers and asking "how is everything" - no. Unlike the manager at the Rio Rancho Wecks where I usually eat. It's almost like they don't care about their customer. If you are going to be a chef - be a great chef otherwise choose a different occupation - it's the customer that suffers as well as the waitress (who was great) because she had to deal with it. Even with social distancing, the service and quality of food is still excellent! At peaks hours, the most we've waited was 15 minutes. The staff is super friendly, always checking in on us. I got the farmer's omelette and added carne adovada. I found it to be my favorite. We went here for early lunch. 4 in our party. Order coffee for drink and South Denver omelet. We got our food and drinks rather quickly but never saw our waitress again until she dropped off our bill. $3.69 for one cup of coffee. Never refill my coffee.. There is always a gentleman that walks around and check to make sure everything is okay but nothing ever happens. If you are going to charge $3.69 for so call unlimited coffee please try to refill it once. Before I launch too far into this review, I want to make it perfectly clear that I truly do like the food at Weck's, particularly the breakfasts. My hubby and I eat at one of the various locations in northwest Albuquerque or in Rio Rancho fairly often. HOWEVER, I find Weck's to be very blasé about the effect that one particular aspect of their menus may have on their customers, the overly hot green chile. Don't get me wrong, I like green chile in small and mild doses, as I think it adds flavor to dishes. But Weck's seems to want to scald the tongues of all of their customers who order dishes containing green chile--IT'S TOO DAMNED HOT!!! News flash, Weck's: Hot chile such as you serve to your customers damages the taste buds to the point where the customer can't taste the deliciousness of the actual food! It is not necessary to add green chile to every salad and sandwich that comes out of the kitchen. Why not leave it to the customer to ASK for green chile to be added rather than doing it automatically? Not only that, but if you automatically add green chile to all those dishes on your menu, if a customer asks for NO green chile, you should give a credit of perhaps 50¢ on the item, since I am sure you factor in the cost of that item into your food costs. If Weck's persists in foisting extra-hot green chile on unsuspecting guests (I pity anyone from out of town who isn't familiar with same), they should print a warning, IN LARGE BLACK LETTERS, on their menus so customers can make their own decisions. I pointed out these issues to Jeremy, the manager who was there on Friday, and as he listened, his eyes seemed to glaze over like he had stopped listening. When I first raised the issue, I also told him that the guacamole on my BLT was also overly hot. He offered to remake the sandwich, but by that time I was almost finished with my meal. I could have removed it myself, but why should I have to remake an item that I have ordered and intended to pay for?? Again, the presence of their overly-hot guacamole on a sandwich should be a CHOICE by the customer, and not automatically slathered on it. Weck's needs to start offering their customers a CHOICE of whether to have green chile and/or guacamole on their orders. Perhaps the servers could be instructed to ASK if the customer wants those items on their sandwiches or salads. Perhaps there should be an upcharge for green chile. Perhaps the people at Weck's, whether in the individual kitchens or in the central kitchen, should learn to be more careful in their cleaning of the green chile so as to remove the elements -- seeds and interior membranes -- that increase the hotness of the chile. Perhaps Weck's should think more about the customers' wishes than their own desire to sell more green chile. read more

We went for breakfast. I got a bowl of pasole with a side of biscuits and gravy and my wife got the full belly chicken enchiladas. I was extremely disappointed with the temperature of all the food, lukewarm. We ended up bringing the food home and will have it later. This location is the best place to go to. All employees are very kind. You will receive great service here. Red and chili are both good. Ask if the red or green are hot for the day. I am a Weck's frequent flyer. I've been to almost every single one in the city and I love them dearly. I never have any problems with the food or the service. Until I visited this location. It actually pains me to write this review. We were sat quickly and there was no wait at this time. The waitress came up and seems very sweet. I ordered my standard water with extra lemon. I order this at every location and always receive a water with several lemon slices. This time I got a water with nothing in it. I didn't notice until she had stepped away so the next time she came by I asked for extra lemons. She brought me back one lemon slice. Trying not to be a bother I went ahead and accepted the one slice and placed it in my water. I prefer my water with lots of ice and lots of lemon so I didn't really enjoy the glass of water but I did drink it. I just figured I would make myself better understood the next time I got a refill. Once refilled I asked for more lemons. I specifically asked for at least four wedges. She never brought them. At this point I consider my drink order incorrect. I pretty much order the same standard three things from Weck's. I know I like them and I know they'll be good. Today I went with the veggie Papa's bowl with extra extra cheese and red and green chili. I also asked for two extra tortillas. This means I should've gotten a total of three being that one comes with the meal. When my food arrived I couldn't even find any cheese, there was no green chili only a minuscule amount of red and I got two tortillas total. This point I was just pretty much done with this place and this waitress. Literally nothing I had ordered was correct. I don't think I'll be returning to this location. They're stingy when I asked for extra things. I was happy to pay any additional charges to get the things I ordered the way I wanted them. The waitress got increasingly irritated the more I asked her for extra this or ask her that. I'm not trying to be rude but that is her job as a Waitress. Bring me the things that I ask for and charge me appropriately. In exchange I give you a excellent tip for your service. My standard tip is 25%. Has been a new breakfast fav since moving here 5 years ago. The decor is always cute & fun to look at, very vintage themed, and the inside is clean & the bussers are on it no matter how busy they get. On popular days of the week & popular eating times definitely expect to be put on a waiting list. Servers are courteous & knowledgeable. The pancakes are huge and my 9 & 5 year old kiddos can never finish their individual pancakes so we get them the pancake "sandwich" plate to share. The pictures show that plate split into two & we still took some of that home. My 2 year old, who is very picky (I know, shocking right?!), got the mini corn dogs & I must admit I ate some of his too! I've loved any of the papitas bowls that I have tried & I always like getting my chile Christmas style. Today I got the carnitas bowl (the plate size is way too much for me, bowl is just right) and the meat was tender & flavorful (but I do wish there was a tad more meat). Weck's is always a good place to have breakfast. During these times it's hard to find somewhere that you can sit and dine at with everything going on. This is my first time at this location, usually I'll go closer to where I live. But this one was convenient for me. Greeted by friendly staff, Juan was in the front host desk. He had some questions for us and asked us to wait outside while they cleared up a table for us. We were called and got inside to sit. Our waitress, super nice and friendly, Miriam was very attentive and efficient. Our food came in a timely manner. I enjoyed the two egg breakfast, made the way you want it. The bacon was crispy and hash browns were delicious! Of course, served with my favorite red chili. I'm a wimp when it comes to red chili and this was tolerable. So, I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had the pancake breakfast, the pancake is huge! Enough to share with someone else. I didn't get a photo of the pancake. Just as amazing as all of the others! Wait staff is ridiculously nice ... almost never a wait for a table. The quality of food is dependably good. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that their chile is hit or miss. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it isn't, sometimes it doesn't have enough salt. Plus their green chili sauce has flour in it, so careful if you can't do gluten. I love their pappas! And their sodas have the GOOD ice! Plus, they always offer to give a to-go cup of coffee or soda on your way out! Seriously! What more can you ask for?! read more

My wife got food poisoning from this place. She already has health issues and the huevos rancheros made her so sick last week, she felt like she was going to die. We'll never go back. Service was terrible and my carne adovada was awful too. I ate ONE bean off her plate and it had my guts feeling not so great. I used to go to the Weck's on 4th and I40 before they shut down.
