    Let's try something local

I was in the mood for enchiladas but I picked the wrong day for that when I visited for the first time at The Whole Enchilada. It was taco Tuesday and the green menu was my only options. The service was great from the moment I walked in. The woman who greeted me was so nice and pleasant. The place wasn't empty. Hard to tell from the outside. Everything was clean and folks looked to be enjoying themselves. I ordered carne asada tacos. Plain because I'm not a fan of fresh onions or cilantro. She gave me a couple tiny plastic containers to get sauce from the front and they were delicious and flavorful. She brought me the menu for all the other days. Recommended the sirloin tacos next time stating a different cut of meat than what I had. Asked if I liked seafood because she said the ceviche was great. Not a fan but I have family that love it. Note: if you do order tacos on a Tuesday, you get 4 but they have to be the same. I'll return because the carne asada was nice and tender and I still want enchiladas.

Food was excellent and service was perfect. Got the enchiladas since hey, it's in the name. Loved all of it. Nice little spot, but wasn't very busy, so go support!

Absolutely delicious. Loved the homemade chips and salsas. Everything tasted so fresh. The Baja tacos were very good and my friend enjoyed his shrimp dish that's cooked in lime juice very tasty and spicy. Definitely will come back to try the chile verde breakfast special until 11:30am. Great family run spot!

As the name suggests there are a lot of enchiladas here. But it's not the only thing on the menu. Everything looked/sounded good so what to choose. I settled on the Enchiladas Parangaricutirimicuaro (shrimp) and shredded beef tacos. We started off with a special taped to the door - Elote Nachos. A different take on nachos with chips topped with street corn, crema, cojita cheese and cilantro. Red & green salsas came on the side. I'm not usually a fan on layered enchiladas - but these were excellent. Loaded with shrimp and great seasoning. The shredded beef tacos were filled with nicely seasoned. Instead of being topped with salsa it had a layer of mayo. This added a different dimension to the flavor. Overall a pleasant surprise, much better than expected. Give this place a shot - you may be surprised!

Service was great! The food was delicious and they played Alejandro Fernandez music the whole time there so of course it was great. We got seated quickly and served quickly. Great experience.

Great traditional Mexican food. BE PATIENT. It is a family owned restaurant. Everything is made from scratch. From the tortilla chips and tortillas to the refried beans, everything is made in house. The food stands by their price and they have always had prompt service. They definitely make you feel nice and welcome. Our waiter has even promptly met us outside and grab the door for us when they weren't too busy. They have a nice open kitchen where you can see them prepare your food. Inside it has a Mexican restaurant feel and their outdoor patio is a must. They offer other various items that are good but if you are coming here for chicken tenders I suggest you go elsewhere. This is the place to get true delicious transitional Mexican food. That is their specialty.

I've been searching all over Albuquerque from the west to the east, north and south however far it takes to find the one. And about a month ago, I was blessed with one of the best spots in town extremely close to me. Admittedly since I went their for the first time about a month ago, I've been back about 5 times. I have come across many burritos in my quest containing just beans and meat, or just meat. The whole enchilada has the whole shabang- rice, beans, beat, onions, cilantro, sour cream and guacamole.... for $8. This thing is a beast and it delivers on taste like no other. Next, let's discuss their plates. I ordered the camarones de chipotle, shrimp cooked in a creamy addicting chipotle sauce. I haven't been able to order anything else since, I crave this creamy orange deliciousness. To top it off, the chips are thick, crispy and have the perfect amount of salt. My boyfriend is partial to the green salsa, but I could drink the orange salsa if I had the chance. Stop by this new business on the northwest side, you won't regret it.

Take away order was on time, hot and delicious. Tucked away in a corner of the strip of stores but well worth the trip.

It's difficult to find good restaurants that can cater to young adults and have REALLY good food and service. We came first on Sunday for brunch. The food was very good. It was a bit small on the portions though. We had breakfast enchiladas and omelet and blue corn pancakes. Then we came back for dinner. The chicken mole was divine, tacos, sea bass, pork steak etc. absolutely perfect. Good portions. Food tastes like it was homemade. The cuisine is Mexican...not New Mexican. The server was great about answering any questions and willing to omit something if possible. Our server was attentive and so gracious. The wine list was surprisingly good. We had a French Viognier for less than $50. Finally the owner came out to talk to us and thanks us for coming. I'm in the business and haven't had this kind of service for a long time. Our son with Celiac was very satisfied, but also we all were. I would absolutely come back regardless of food restrictions. Please go!!

The property seems massive and it's really beautiful with all the cottonwood trees. When you get into the restaurant, there are just tons of combinations of these cozy little nooks, long dining tables, separated rooms, patio seating, and event spaces. There is something to see everywhere you look; fountains, fireplaces, and plants, hanging chiles, and more. They even raise cattle and chickens on property and source from their own greenhouse for their menu items. The ambience was just really cool and even though the winds were blowing like crazy, we were totally comfortable out in the patio section with the screens up. The food is authentic New Mexican cuisine. They brought out delicious tortilla chips for us to snack on while we decided on what to order. It really felt like there was no wrong choice to make. They were very accommodating for food allergies and restrictions. There was great flavor in everything our group tried. I split the half order of chicken nachos and it was a hefty half order! I was so stuffed, but then, hot sopapillas appeared and I couldn't say no to those! Especially not since the tables had their own sourced honey. There is also a full tequila bar, but since we were traveling with kids, didn't get to take too much advantage of that as an option. I wish we would've had more to explore the property but if I end up back in the Albuquerque area, I'll stop by again.

Their red chile was sparse, but that actually turned out in my favor because it was on the edge of burnt. A bit acrid. The sopas were dense, flat, chewy, and overcooked. The salsa-underwhelming.
