In looking for a second opinion, a good friend of my wife suggested K & R Refrigeration, who had completed work for her mother in Sun Lakes and who had been recommended to them by a trusted local repair man. Coincidentally, a good friend of mine in Sun Lakes also recommended K & R! K & R responded quickly to our call for help and their quote for replacing our 5 ton Trane rooftop unit was 33 percent lower than our maintenance service company' quote - a difference of almost $5k ! Not only were K & R more than fair in their pricing but they were able to provide and install the new unit almost immediatelly! (we accepted their quotaion on Friday and the unit was delivered and installed the following Monday morning! The new Trane unit is working wonderfully - we're getting a much stronger airflow, which cools our home much faster than in the past! We couldn't be more happy with K & R and we would like to thank everyone who helped us, including: Jerry, Stacey, Curtis, Jon and Cole! I had Rusty's visit my parents house…read moretoday since the external unit was making some noise on shut down, and given how great they were in 2023 when I needed them, it seemed like a no brainer. Nothing was declared wrong with their unit besides the LRA being higher than normal. (Apparently reading 129 when the rec on the unit is 120). So when I arrived the young tech was attempting to upsell my father on Compressor protection to solve this at a cost of $600, and stating to both of us at that time that the issue would only get worse and the compressor was the most expensive part of the unit to replace if it goes out (correct). He said $600 was cheaper than a compressor replacement (also correct). After some basic research I realized they were being upsold. Sure protection is good, But if your unit is already covering most of the bases a protector would, then why install one? The upsell statement was.... "Without this your unit will be unprotected and your LRV values are only going to continue to get worse, compressors are thousands to replace" It felt like doom tactics and for a second in my mind I was like, we should just do this. I took a photo of my units information and serial, threw it in to chat GPT. It told me the following about my unit. " What you have Brand: Lennox Model: ML17XP1-048-230A01 Type: Heat pump (not just AC) Size: 4 ton system Refrigerant: R-410A Voltage: 208/230V system (not 120V)" " Does your system already have protection? Yes--your Lennox ML17 series includes: Internal compressor overload protection Anti-short-cycle delay (via thermostat/control board) Standard electrical safeguards required by code So you already have basic built-in protection " I cross referenced this with the manual too. So maybe he meant "Compressor saver"? Like a hard start kit, who knows I'm not an AC tech, back to the internet. Well looks like my unit does not need or benefit from this since its only 2-3 years old and our capacitor was almost on point with the expected readout so starting was likely not an issue. I also saw that 129 was still within the expected +/- 10% tolerance even if on the higher side. So in a nutshell I am disappointed with the outcome here. I understand a bit of salesmanship is required for a successful biz, but $600 of not required add-ons for a unit that has most of it already doesn't feel honest. Not to mention that feedback online was to expect to pay $350-450 and that $600 and above was considered very expensive. And lets say I am totally off the mark here and my research is off, then in that case the young tech seriously failed to explain in detail about the topic. The tech that visited me in 2023 was so knowledgable and at no point did I feel like I was being upsold on things I didn't need. There was a trust bond there almost immediately with that guy. I went back to read reviews and saw that the same has happened to some of your other customers (Quincy . R from literally 2 weeks ago) Your biz was EXCELLENT! I raved about you guys to my neighbors in the past. Some of them even booked you. I know you guys are better than this. Sadly i'll have to take my biz and recommendations else where from here on. Well they came out and said the parts aren't made anymore because they changed the coolant since it was installed and I had to replace the whole thing. Just one a/c unit would be 14k$. I was not happy with that but figured it must be the cost. Well long story short I called my wife and she said "no way". Too much. So I continued calling around and the best I could find was 11.5k$. Well I started complaining about how I would need to work until the end of my life at work and a coworker suggested NEWACUNIT.Com. I looked it up and figured right away it was a scam. 7k for the same unit the other company was quoting me, THE SAME UNIT, INSTALLED AT HALF THE PRICE. Too good to be true right? I almost completely dismissed it as a scam or some fine print I was missing. Or figured when they came out to bid the job they would jack up the price. So I called and asked them if it was a scam and asked them to explain to me what I was missing. I spoke with Kathy, who turned out to be my savior. She explained every detail of all my questions. All of them! And told me not to worry, she was there to clear up any question I had at any time during the process. I cannot tell you what a huge difference talking to her made and when I hung up I competent reassured. She did not pressure me in any way to buy and just gave me the facts. So I bought the AC unit for NEWACUNIT.com It was installed on Monday and they did everything right. I will say there was an extra $200 cost for the crane to lift it in place. Which I agreed to before the install. Other than that, everything was as advertised from day 1. I could not be happier. They saved me close to 7k. I am a highly skeptical person and very critical of goods and services. I felt sure I was missing something here and would regret. Happily I was wrong and can't remember a time when I was more pleased with a service. I pray the other AC unit gives me a few more years before it needs to be replaced but if and when it dies I will be replacing it to with newacunit.com I rarely recommend business but in this case I felt compelled to write a review to try and help others in the same situation. We recently had another HVAC company come out because our AC stopped working. To make matters worse, they said they couldn't turn the system back on and that we might have to wait until Monday for a full system replacement. This all happened on the Wednesday before the Fourth of July, with temperatures well into the triple digits. We have five kids and two dogs, and the thought of going several days without air conditioning was overwhelming. Thankfully, we decided to get a second opinion and called Airtime Cooling & Heating. Jacob came out, started his own evaluation without us telling him what the first company had diagnosed, and quickly impressed us. He simply turned the system back on, ran his own diagnostics, and gave us his honest opinion. His conclusion was completely different--our system did not need to be replaced. Not only did he get our AC running again, but he also took the time to explain what he believed had happened, what to watch for if it occurred again, and even walked us through how to troubleshoot it ourselves. That kind of honesty, education, and customer service is incredibly rare. Instead of facing what could have been a very expensive and unnecessary replacement, we paid for a diagnostic visit, got our AC back, and gained confidence in our system. Because of this experience, we've switched from our previous HVAC company to Airtime Cooling & Heating for all of our future maintenance and service. A company can't even be profitable having a technician drive a van to your house for $49 and be profitable. For $49 they're not "servicing" anything, they're just visually looking for things to sell you (see 100% commission above). So don't fall for that BS! The delays were on the manufacturer's end, the poor communication was their staff though.

We also enrolled in their Preventative Maintenance Program, which included a 27-point spring tune-up and a 32-point fall tune-up. We faithfully paid for and completed these twice-yearly maintenance visits from 2017 through 2025. On June 2, 2025, Rescue One Air performed one of our scheduled tune-ups. At the time, the unit was making a loud squealing noise. The technician completed the inspection covered under our maintenance plan and told us he found no concerns with the unit or the attic equipment. He needed additional parts to fix the squealing issue, so a follow-up appointment was scheduled for June 5, when the repair was completed. On the morning of June 7, 2025, our master bedroom closet ceiling caved in. The drywall and insulation were soaked and moldy, and water continued dripping from the attic. I immediately called Rescue One Air, and they sent a technician within about two hours. The technician showed me a PVC pipe from the attic AC equipment that had no glue or sealant on the connection. He explained that the pipe had not been properly sealed and that it had been slowly leaking over time until the water-soaked insulation became heavy enough for the ceiling to collapse. After paying for Rescue One's maintenance program for nine years--and having the attic equipment inspected twice a year--we were shocked that this had never been identified. The technician told us the issue was Rescue One's responsibility, helped arrange for a remediation company to begin the cleanup and dry-out process, gave us his supervisor's email, and told us the company would reimburse our $1,000 homeowners insurance deductible. That never happened. The damage required insurance, professional remediation, ceiling replacement, insulation replacement, and weeks of repairs. After the repairs were completed, I left multiple voicemail messages and sent numerous emails. Rescue One Air never returned a single call or email. We paid for nine years of preventative maintenance because we believed it would help prevent exactly this kind of expensive property damage. Instead, after a ceiling collapse and significant water damage that their own technician said stemmed from an improperly sealed AC pipe, Rescue One stopped communicating with us entirely. That's what has been the most disappointing part of this experience.
