But here we are. To folks who had to search for "Locksmiths" in order to see this: I assume it's been a day. Please know I wrote this with you in mind. I got lucky that I called Kevin on my worst day, and 8 years later, I want others to find the best/safest option too. Kevin is responsive, professional, and exceptionally skilled. As a service provider attending to requests in (often times) suboptimal circumstances, he made sure that there were no questions left unanswered: from initial call to final payment. I appreciated his clarity, honesty, and focus. Nonjudgemental, no showmanship, no nonsense. To be clear, I was none of those things (on the inside) when I called him in a panic. Personally, I'd rather break and replace a window than admit defeat if I've been locked out of my home due my own forgetfulness. Kevin was kind enough to ensure that my ego didn't cost me a 2 week old lease. And when our apartment complex was broken into years later, he was my first thought for safe lock replacement. If you've read this far, you're likely waiting on the first locksmith you called or hoping this might be the guy to call. This is the guy.

He then 30 seconds later after accepting price tried to upcharge me by an additional $40. I asked why and he said "the lock is old". Then I was able to negotiate back down. He was unable to open the lock anyway and suggested replacing lock completely and said "this will cost a lot more" and further asked for service fee, which he tried to upcharge from quoted price as well. I then tried to confirm who he works with and he told me he doesn't know the name of the employer because he doesn't speak English well. Did not allow him to break the lock down and replace. The owner, Maher, seems like a deeply ethical person and I've met him a couple of times when apartments were being re-keyed or a tenant was locked out. At my landlord's urging, Maher came out to assess whether I needed security enhancements on my apartment door after I received some (cough) mailed "warnings" from an ex-boyfriend. Maher arrived within the hour. I will say this: No one is getting through that front door unless he arrives with 5 men and a Medieval battering ram. Thank you, Maher, for being the best at what you do.

(F.U.AAA) Or how about Getting back home at one in the morning, after a very arduous drive from Disneyland, and having the key break as you're trying to open the front door lock while the rest of the family is sound asleep in the car? In both scenarios, thank goodness Lock Doctor Maher was there to the rescue. I don't know if Maher just happened to be around the corner when I called or if he just drives hella fast, but that dude gets to where he needs to be quick. He steps out of the Lock Mobile, figures out what needs to be done, does his thing, and then he's off to save another person in need. Seriously, Maher is the man. He's fast, efficient, and a really good guy. This last time he saved me, he even gave me a repeat user discount and said to give him a call anytime I needed. For sure, but in the mean time, I said I'd write a review to show all my appreciation.

It was late about 2am, I was in a panic, called the 408 number and they said someone will return a call in the SF area in a couple minutes. Yani (who is a lifesaver), then rang me within one minute. I texted him a photo of the lock and he knew right then and there what to do. I personally couldn't use the "credit card method," because the door had a stripping around it and I could not even see the inside of the lock and the situation called for a locksmith at 2am. I was not going to break down the door. Yani, who has been doing this for ten years was very professional, accommodating, and sweet from the beginning. From the phone call til the end of the service, he had the best customer service and I can truly tell he wanted to be helpful. He arrived within 10 minutes after the call. All in all it took less than 30 minutes to solve this problem. Please ask for him the next time you need a locksmith in SF. I attached a photo of the type of door I had. Hope it helps.
