Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

When we arrived, we were greeted with a friendly welcome. We asked for a 1-hr massage but were told no, only 45 mins. Then we realised they only had 45 mins to spare, which was fine. I wanted a Swedish massage, but was told no - only deep tissue. Massage itself was decent, until my masseuse had to leave the room abruptly in the middle of it, left half of my butt cheek in the open with the door unclosed. The treatment felt rushed, my arms and hands were not touched at all. This was probably a 3.5 rating but couldn't bring myself to round up.

I,ve been going to Wat Massage for several years at 1804 Vernon Street,N.W. Originally I had planned on going periodically for just "me" time, but it didn't happen. Wat Massage is an experience within itself. From the time you walk over the threshold and until you leave is awesome. Iam a native Washingtonian, retired professional and have been to the best of the best massage establishments in Wasington, D.C. and I must say none of them can match Wat. You are greeted by Alan or George( that's who I know). Both of them have personalities that are warm and friendly, not stuffy and blunt. I am a huge fan of massage therapy and have tried many therapists in Michigan, Saipan and DC. After a long search in DC, I finally found Wat massage and Nahila. I exercise a lot and tend not to stretch after, resulting in a series of injuries and aches. As part of my work, I sit all day long, which does not help. During my first visit, I explained and pointed all the aching points to Nahila. This was actually not necessary, since she is a truly skilled massage therapist and can find all my knots under her fingers. She works patiently and skillfully, pointing out stretching techniques as she worked on me. She is a plus for any athlete who wants to refresh tired muscles after long runs or bike rides. The atmosphere is inviting and perfect for relaxation. I highly recommend this place. I started seeing Alan at Wat Massage off and on about two years ago. I haven't been as regular as I should but about a year ago I hurt my rotator cuff and the resulting injury curtailed my work out and most definitely my range of motion in the both shoulders. There were times I could barely raise my arms. The pressure Alan gives is always fantastic! But since I started going to them more for therapy than relaxation my visits are not just good for me but a necessity. I was told I should consider surgery but I have avoided going under the knife through more frequent visits with Alan. I'm not completely cured but I move about with more freedom and only have problems when I'm not regular with my workouts and my massages. I walk out so rejuvenated and feeling free that I don't hesitate to tell everyone I know to go see him. Let me just start out by saying that I've had massages before. Although the experience I've had at Wat Massage was unforgettable, and amazing. I had the honor in having Irani as my massage therapist. This woman is a gift sent from heaven. As in struggled my way into Wat Massage, I was in so much pain. I told Irani that I've had athletic injuries, and that I felt like I had a lot knots on my back. When I walked out, that's right "walked", I felt like a billion bucks. I hadn't felt that way in forever. All thanks to Irani. Truly the best massage therapist in the universe. What can I say, WOW!! I absolutely loved my experience at Wat Massage. At first I was a bit disappointed when my call went to voice mail, but 30 minutes later someone called me back to schedule my appointment. When I arrived at the studio I realized they are a very small business and don't have a front desk person and the manager who normally answers the phone is also a massage therapist. I was able to get in a few hours later and again everything about the space is adorable. The room I was directed to was cozy, clean and very comfortable! It was lit with candles and soft lighting and the massage table OMG super comfy. My massage lady was very intuitive and right on with pressure. I was offered a special for first time clients and it was so worth it! $95 for one and half hour. I am really happy I found this hidden gem in DC. read more

Beautiful establishment, nice and professional staff, very clean and peaceful massage studio. I have chronic back pain and started going regularly to Aaron for trigger point therapy/myofascial release, and the results have been incredible. Aaron is very knowledgeable and has a great understanding of myofascial/trigger point release. He has pin pointed spots that I didn't even realize were causing pain and strain. I always leave reenergized and with a few movement tips to take home. After seeing several massage therapists over the years, I would say Aaron's trigger point massage is one of the best I've ever had. I've found a therapist whose training and approach is about fixing what's wrong and help me manage my chronic pain. Just wanted to update my massage experiences with Aaron, at Wat Massage. My husband and I were in DC for three weeks, we both saw Aaron, multiple times and his specialty is pain management, which really is why people have massage. I have chronic headaches, my husband for an IT band problem from running and we both felt that he was exceptional in providing pain relief for these issues. Aaron is trained in Canada for sports medicine and his massage is best explained as "trigger point" technique, and he has 22 years experience. I have had a lot of massages in my life, but Aaron's technique gets to the root of the problem. Next time I'm in DC, I'm calling ahead to book several appointments. The spa and the massage therapists are great. I have seen several different therapists here and I have never had a bad session. However, some therapists are a better fit for me than others (obviously). For example: I prefer a more deep tissue style massage that really works some sore muscles where other people might prefer a more relaxing massage, which is not my thing at all. I wish this place had a short description of each therapist and their strengths and preferences so I can chose a therapist based on those data instead of choosing randomly and hoping the massage gods are in my favor today. read more

Amazing, wonderful, relaxing, soothing, I felt like I was floating on a soft cloud. The ambiance is perfect, quiet, calm, gentle, soothing music, trickling sound of water, the soft light of the candles. Ask for Madaline B. (MT#1180)! I've suffered from neck, shoulder and lower back pain from driving, working construction jobs, and extended periods on the computer and smartphone. In each case Wat's combination deep tissue/Swedish massage relieved the problem. I've also sent my family members to her for Aromatherapy and sports massage and they loved it. If you are looking for an excellent sports massage, I can't recommend Jackson enough. I do a lot of running and training for long distance races and Jackson is one of the best massage therapists I've seen. He knows how to address problem areas and remedy potential injuries before they get there. He also gives very helpful stretching and training advice in general and is an all around really nice guy. If you are surviving the pandemic in pain - back, neck, shoulder, arms, wrists, thumbs (yup, way too much laptop and cell use!), you need to see Aaron. His trigger point therapy really gets at the problem areas. I couldn't open a jar and after seeing him I didn't have to whine to my partner to help me! I had one of the best massages I've ever had by Sheena. I get massages often and when the masseuse asks what area to focus on I often say my ankles and lower back, which is where I carry most of my tension. Sheena was the first masseuse to actually spend ample time on my problem areas. I'm not sure how long this place has been in Eastern Market, but we love a spot that isn't too far away. First off, the place itself is really cute and welcoming. They have tea and what looked like a Keurig setup where you can make yourself something, plus water available when you're finished. More importantly, everything was CLEAN. The rooms smelled clean, the materials and linens looked clean, and the surrounding spaces were well kept. That's important to me, especially when you're getting a service like a massage. I mainly came in to alleviate some gym soreness and, of course, the general tension of adulthood. Li was my massage therapist, and I didn't know what to expect, but there was a lot about her technique that stood out. First, the work she did around my ankles. I get massages pretty regularly and genuinely don't remember anyone successfully focusing on that area the way she did. I didn't even realize how much tension I had there until she started working it out. Second, the glutes! The attention, pressure, and techniques she used on my glute muscles were everything. I've never had someone spend that much intentional time working those muscles and releasing that much tension. That alone had me feeling noticeably better afterward. Third was the stretching. I mentioned having a lot of tightness in my hips, and Li understood the assignment. Hip stretches, arms, neck, back, all of it. She pushed me in a good way and had me feeling much more limber by the end. She also found the knots around my scapula and gave my lower back the attention it needed. As someone who gets massages often enough to compare techniques, I could tell there was experience and knowledge behind what she was doing. I booked the 90 minute massage and added magnesium, which was a perfect addition. Those 90 minutes FLEW by. I also loved that the stretching wasn't just a quick add on. It was really incorporated into the massage, which makes the "Bodyworks" part of the name make perfect sense. I like firm pressure, and Li kept that pressure consistent throughout the entire massage. That matters! The only thing I would've added was more attention to the fingers and toes, especially pressure point work, stretching, and gently pulling each digit. Those areas can hold more tension than you realize-I love pressure point work and stretching in those areas, so having each finger and toe worked, stretched, or gently pulled would have been the icing on the cake. I actually found myself wanting to crack and stretch them afterward. Aside from that, this massage did exactly what I came for. I wanted to leave feeling stretched out, less tense, and more mobile, and mission accomplished. They're also looking to get more exposure right now, so check online or call the shop and ask about their current promotions because there are definitely deals to be found. Parking wasn't too crazy either. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and found parking without much trouble. Eastern Market can vary depending on the day and time, but it was pretty easy for me. The managers are always nice and accomodating to near closing time walkins. They may have a little turn over, but you can tell just about everyone was trained to scope the body and work any knots you may have. This is a professional establishment.

I had wanted to check this place out, but the person I was with had other plans. Nevertheless, I saw the cost for your massage. One hour for $80 is a little step. I have paid this price before, but I think I will stick we with $60 to $50 an hour. Still, I am happy to see the prices on your website. You are taking your website business more seriously than others I have seen. I will be checking this place out this year of 2025 I look forward to being able to write about the massage experience and other features inside this building.

There is privacy (separate rooms), it is quiet. Prices are competitive and I've been there 3/4 times and the massages were always amazing. I do deep tissue. They always know where I have pain and attack it the right way. Recommend it!
