Ok you know, its Walmart, no big deal. So this was my problem. I checked out my items and while I did i purchased a bag. I asked for one after I finished my transaction and then was told they dont have any. He told me I can go to customer service to get my dime back. Not that it is a big deal but im not in the business of giving away any amount of money but it looks like I am because the customer service line was so long I kissed that dime blood bye. As Walmarts go, this place has what you need. For the most part, the employees are helpful. They usually have a decently stocked pharmacy, though sometimes they are out of my prescriptions. Great place for daily necessities for just about everything. I do not believe that this location deserves the 2 stars that it currently has. Dropped by this Walmart since it's close to the Kaiser that I had an appointment at. Still an ample amount of parking on the day after Christmas. Almost all of the Xmas sale items were being cleared out for Valentine's Day goods and it wasn't even noon yet. I circled the store 3 times with my arm full of goods until I stopped a worker to scan the price of them. Despite being Christmas items in the Christmas sale aisle, none of the prices were discounted. I had to put them all back. I'm not sure why they got rid of the price scanners in the store (worker told me the store didn't have any) and if it's a ploy to force more worker and customer interaction (please why would you want to force more human interaction, I just want to shop and leave) or if it's to make people go whatever and just buy at the cashier. I am going to an Xmas party after Xmas and was trying to find a festive shirt. I actually had to go through the industrial racks that a worker left in an aisle that clearly wasn't marked with anything (probably headed towards the back), which I think is a waste since it didn't even make it to the clearance rack. I got one for $2, but still think it sucks that if you weren't keeping an eye out and willing to go into something that clearly wasn't meant for the floor, you wouldn't have found it. Self check out also sucks. Credit card and no cash only, but doesn't take Apple Pay or tap to pay? Another ploy to make you download their app or something I'm sure. i've currently been using their new home delivery service. That service is horrible. The people they have shopping and bagging your groceries. Do not know what they're doing. I've only used it two or three times and each time there are issues with the product and or how it is bagged for delivery. My most recent was three bags of groceries. One bag had tomatoes, eggs at the bottom of the bag, and the items were smashed due to putting heavy items like cans and other items on top of them. The onions I received were moldy the celery had stocks broken off of them, and I ordered a bunch of parsley which was just loose thrown in the bag. I also ordered shredded cheese and several heavy items were put on top of that was smashed as well. to believe that something simple as putting heavy items on the bottom light and damageable things on top is such a difficult thing to do when you buy groceries. I'm not sure who trains or how they train these people, but they need it the website is not intuitive and the AI Chatbot and the search is mediocre. Using Walmart is nothing like using Amazon. What to say about this location of Walmart. Parking is always a mess. The workers here need to be a little more attentive to their customers (I know it's retail and it's Walmart but try to at least give a hoot.) a lot of them are playing music from little speakers on their carts as they work which make it a little intimidating to ask for anything. While I was checking out I witnessed something to be a little immoral and unsettling. As I was checking out in the self check out line there was a man and child asking for Pokemon cards and the supervisor (heavy set women) looked in the case and told them "sorry we are all out". You could see there were no cards in the locked showcase. However 5 mins later a worker goes to the same supervisor and asks for "Pokemon cards" and she opens the case and reaches inside and pulls out a box of cards from I guess their stash and hands him a handful. I was a bit taken back because the previous customer asked for some and was denied. A few days pass and I asked for some cards from the same locked up show case and I was denied. I even pointed out where they were inside the show case and they were there and she says "sorry this is 3rd party we cannot sell only the vendor can replenish". I was fine with that but not when supervisors are denying paying customers and giving to the employees. I hope something is to be done by this. read more

Do not shop here let me explain the first time I came here. I came here looking for pomade I went to the section where they sell hair gel tell me why these people told me that I have to go to another store when they had at least 1000 different types there and I had to find it myself. I've been here several more times only to find every single time I came here nobody knew what they were doing half the time not to mention the various times where my card did not process because the system is there are extremely broken or outdated if you go here and your card is declined. We only do box for box exchange I said OK not a problem however, they did not have the diapers I was looking for which was the Millie's I asked to speak to supervisor and Laura basically had no consideration and said it is to my discretion that I will not give you store credit!! even though we don't have the diapers you're looking for in stock. This Walmart has most of their merchandise locked behind the glass, and when you ask someone for help in opening product for you to buy, it takes 20 minutes for an associate to help you with grabbing the item. I usually only go to this Walmart just to buy car detailing products, and about a couple of months ago, they ended up putting some of those products behind glass as well. Today, I waited 20 minutes for someone to help me with grabbing an item, and while I was waiting, I asked an associate to help me that was passing-by only for them to tell me "sorry I don't have the key," smirking as they walk away. They didn't even take the initiative to ask another one of the associates with the key to help me. I finally was able to have someone help me, but one of the items I was purchasing that was behind the locked glass ended up with the tape being loose. I should have fully opened it at the store because I got home to find out that the box I bought was missing a clay bar when it should have been 3 included inside. What's the point of having all your merchandise locked up behind glass if it's going to end up missing items/damaged already??? Customer service is very disappointing at this Walmart. Self check out lines for customers are not that better either with how long they can get, yet no one takes the initiative to open up a register to help with the lines. I've been shopping here since the location opened, and it's really convenient to buy all my groceries in the pick-up section since I just have to order online in advance. Enough is enough with the quality of the produce. I've already had to ask for refunds at least 4 times because of them forgetting some of my items, but I especially have to do it for bad quality of produce. Here are some pictures as evidence. It's like they purposely pick the worst produce that is already spoiled since you can't see them before you get home with your groceries. I know this isn't what their groceries look like in the store because I see how fresh everything is. They're purposely selling the worst items to people who do pick-up. You're telling me these cucumbers and spinach are not already bad and/or rotten!? This just ruined my meal prep for the week, and it's a huge inconvenience because now I have to make a second trip to a different grocery store. Get it together, Walmart. I was at Walmart on August 11, 2025. I was in the cosmetic section and I had asked an employee by the name of Elizabeth if she could please reach a body wash for me. She had an attitude because I had asked her I told her thank you and she just gave me a look and she continued what she was doing. This place always has plenty of cool items & great deals but the problem is the WAIT TIME. It's so ridiculous. Waiting nearly an hour just to get anyone with keys to unlock the items I need and nearly another just to pay & walk out the door! This Walmart never fails to kill all the enjoyment of my shopping experience by having me wait unbelievably long amounts of time to pay for my items. No wonder so many people either leave their fully carts at the register or steal a few items because it's just faster than doing things the legal and morally right way! Experienced poor customer service within the HABA DEPT. today ~ I understand how busy retail can be, especially with today's policies requiring many items in the Health and Beauty section to be unlocked by a clerk. Today, I patiently waited my turn as the employee on duty was assisting others. I made eye contact, smiled, and greeted her politely. However, once she was done with the prior customers...... instead of acknowledging me, she skipped right over and assisted another customer who had just walked up--a man who shared her background. I was left standing there, feeling invisible and dismissed, despite having waited my turn respectfully. I said nothing at first, but when I asked for help, she said, "I'm going to help him first." It was disheartening. I wasn't dressed up--I was in sweatpants and a jean jacket on my day off work--but everyone deserves equal treatment regardless of appearance or background. I won't name the employee because I do respect how hard customer service can be, but I do hope management addresses training to ensure fairness and professional courtesy for all shoppers. read more

Despite almost everything being out of stock and long lines. Be prepared to be treated poorly by employees. This is the second time employees at self checkout give the nastiest attitude. First it was an older white lady not offering help and then asking us if we're scanning everything, then made sure to check video In front of us at checkout registers to confirm. She also was raising her voice at every customer who asked for help. Second time was a Bald headed tall white guy with glasses literally yells at you to move and strictly tells where to go. I didn't even give him a hard time just asked if the register is available so I can checkout and keep the line behind me flowing. When we left he mumbled something while staring us down. I thought employees were going to be more professional since it is in a nice area coming from South Gate and Paramount. These employees should not have applied to this job if they're not ready for it. I get work can get frustrating sometimes, but that does not mean they should be taking out their anger and frustration on innocent people! From this last experience, I recommend shopping at Downey Neighborhood Walmart or Walmart in Paramount which is not to far, employees are much nicer and more helpful there as well. read more

1 star is too much for this location. I've been to this store time & time again and have used the grocery pickup service for like a year and a half and haven't had issues until today and last week. My order was scheduled for 10-11 and I received notification that there was a delay. Ok fine... at 12:20 I got the ok that my studs was ready to pick up. 5 HOURS LATER STILL NOT READY. Ridiculous!!! The number to the store is busy, the associates are "backed up". I call BS!!! 5 HOURS SITTING IN THE POCKUP SPOT and talked to 4 different associates who said "we are backed up". The. Why did I get the alert stating my items were ready??? And then after I contacted customer service I got this (see picture). I'm done with Walmart! read more

First I want to say that the only reason I gave this place two stars is because the two individuals who helped me today were rockstars! They tried everything to help me locate a toy that says in the system there're 12 on the floor but were not there. They went over and above to try to help me get what I came into the store for. So thank you to those two individuals. Now I cannot say the same thing about the store and the way the company is being ran. I would rather pay more for an item at Target than deal with Walmart. Unfortunately, this time Walmart was the only place that supposedly had the specific toy I was looking for. I went to this specific location and was told by the two amazing representatives that the store had 12 on the floor. We all looked high and low but we could not locate even one. NOT EVEN ONE! The one representative went into the back and later came out saying that they talked to the toy manager who informed them that they sold out of that toy. I was like okay. Thanks for checking. I would not think anything of it but went to another Walmart store and even called before going. The person assured me that they had at least 10 on the floor and 4 in the back. Well, I bet you can guess what happened...Nope! NOT EVEN ONE! None could be located. Not anywhere. Despite the system saying the store has this toy, not one could be located. So I wasted a day trying to find this toy that supposedly two Walmart stores have but none could be found. It seems odd that two places who supposedly have double digit amounts of this particular toy doesn't even have one available....Hmmm! Just another reason to add to the list of reasons I refuse to shop at Walmart. I greatly appreciate the individuals who tried everything to help me find this toy. The same cannot be said about Walmart as a company, etc. Oh and you might be wondering what is this toy I have been referring to? It's the viral Little Tikes Dream Machine. There's probably only a handful of Walmarts I like going to and this one is one of them. I think because it's in Downey and it's still kind of pretty new. The only downfall about this store is they took away almost half if not more of their self check out machines. Believe they only have about 12 and four of them are for some special subscription people, still have no idea how to get that subscription, every time I ask a worker they usually don't know. This Walmart is walking distance from where I stay at, still would drive unless we're going for a walk. Most workers are friendly, there's always fruit and milk, the two more important things we shop here for. Still not a huge fan of the warehouse feel to Walmart, believe that's why I'd still choose target over Walmart. The prices aren't that far apart either like most people claim. read more

When visiting this Walmart in Apollo way in the city Downey the checkout lines are super long and move slowly. I spend more time in line than shopping, this includes the self checkout as well. Every essential item is locked up and the wait to get someone to come help makes you want to drop everything and just go home..... Management needs to control this better. read more

This is the WORST Walmart that I have EVER been to! I have been waiting in line for over 30 minutes. if I hadn't already eaten some of my Poptarts I would have left my cart. 5 Stars for 3 associates that assisted me on a very crazy day when all the locals were flooding the store because of Tropical Storm Hilary. Associates Tarsha Cheyenne & Judy I really have to take the time to give the young ladies recognition for keeping it together when they were all getting bombarded from every angle by customers and still managed to provide exceptional customer service. I've managed for over 27yrs and I know first hand how hard it is to find key players. I really hope that top management takes the time to give these associates recognition and ensure you secure these associates give them a promotion and a raise these associates should be considered valuable assets to your organization especially after seeing that this store had very low ratings. This type of customer service by these associates will help bring your store ratings up. If your management fails to acknowledge these reviews I encourage you to go elsewhere, because it is very important that the organization you work for values their employees.
