Self checkout is the only way to pay for your stuff in the morning, if you have a considerable amount of groceries they will not open any check stands for you , I ask for help with checkout was told that self checkout was the same thing my cart was full of groceries they had no bags available , had to leave my cart behind and just take two of my items , a complete waste of my time been shopping here for 19 years won't be coming back to this store twice this has happened to me here and I've witnessed it happen to other customers as well, should post a sign at the entrance so people know that they will be scanning and bagging all your own stuff, so they can keep the groceries to a minimum read more

I like this Ralph's because I feel like it's bigger then the one I normally go to in Lakewood but the reason I gave it 4 stars was because there meat/deli section was a little lacking. This is a decent Ralphs stores location. I have been here a few times in the past. I stopped here recently to grab some food and drinks for a party, and it is always bad parking here. Some people leave their empty baskets banging on your car. Security is tight here since their are people always stealing here. I love the nice produce and deli areas on how everything is set up. I haven't been to a Ralphs in a long time. A couple weeks ago, I decided to stop by to see what the deli had to offer. Their hot foods per pound definitely isn't the cheapest but they have a decent variety. I bought 1/2 pound spicy wings, 1/2 pound chicken salad and $3.99 loaded baked potato soup. The wings were a bit dry and ok in taste. The chicken salad was way over-saturated with Mayo BUT the loaded baked potato soup was purely heaven. Seasoned just right and super hearty and filling. It tasted like how a loaded potato soup should be like. For $3.99, you get to fill it up to the brim. Probably the best deal in my opinion if you like soup. I approached an employee and asked what isle the crystal light was and she wasn't sure so we walked up to the self check out was at and she asked 2 workers there at the time. This review is for the Deli only. Two weeks ago a female employee helped us get lunchmeat and cheese she was extremely slow. But at least she was friendly. Today there were two different female employee's and they were talking non stop to each the entire time we were there. We received our lunchmeat and had to ask about the cheese we ordered. The female helping us was rude and just said I haven't got it yet. She never missed a beat talking though. There was no one else in line I'm sure they have plenty of time to talk to each other throughout the day. They have no manners and certainly do not care about serving customers. I have been coming to this store for 30+ years. I don't always think about reviewing places that I go to all the time. So as far as Ralph's stores go this is one of the best. This one and the one on Woodruff and Del Amo are the best in the area in this reporter's humble opinion. In my observations, I feel like as far as pricing goes - overall the various grocery chains even out. Some things are cheaper at the other stores and some things are more expensive. So you arer going to shop at the most convenient one, and fortunately this is most convenient and i like it MUCH better than the local competition. This store is always clean and well stocked. They have a good selection of products. It would be impossible for a store to carry EVERYTHING that EVERYONE wanted - there's simply not enough space. My visit today was for a bunch of groceries and a visit to the deli. I found every single thing I was looking for in the store. Then I was fortunate to have Margarita at the deli to assist me. I ordered good sized amounts of sliced meats and cheeses. Margarita was working hard handling my order. In the mean time a couple of people came to the counter and wanted quick assistance. Margarita apologized and said that she was helping me, and she would be there as soon as she could. She then called for help but two of the customers left. When help arrived she told the "helper" that she had two people walk because of the wait. She was VERY Friendly. She was VERY polite. She VERY very helpful. She put paper in between the layers of cheeses and packed up everything nicely. My favorite part about coming here is when they cut the first slice of each, they generally offer it to you to make sure it is to your liking and then you get to eat it! 8:55pm 6/1/2022 The worst most scariest experience happened. This can happen to just about anyone. Left my dogs in the car while I picked up my online order which was ready for pick up (just before they closed). Didn't think much of it, just running in to pick up my order e leaving everything in my car,, cellphone, my purse, wallet, everything . My suv was still running/on. In less than 1 or 2 mins, I come out, MY CAR IS LOCKED ! ENGINE RUNNING! DOGS INSIDE! PHONE STILL ATTACHED TO CHARGER. This has never happened to me before. My car never locks while key is in the ignition qnd CAR IS ON!!!! all I can assume is that the pooches got excited and were running back and forth accidentally manually closing touch/locking driver door (other doors automatically lock.when car is in movement/driving) Just any human or dog mom, I begin panicking!!!! Almost had a massive anxiety attack. 9:00pm I ran in to Boston Market and they were kind enough to lend me their phone/land line while they called AAA road side assistance. Obviously I don't have any physical identification to show them but they trusted me. Turn out my account for AAA has been canceled. At this point I'm on panic mode. I asked phone rep if they can renew my AAA over the phone using same card as last year but he says i need to do it online. MY PHONE IS LOCKED IN CAR!!! 9:10pm Boston Market is now closed (they close at 9pm) None of the staff at Boston Market had AAA roadside assistance(I even offered to pay if they lend me their AAA). This was a very urgent matter, MY DOGS ARE IN THE CAR, Windows closed! At this point I have them call 911! CALL DOESNT GO THROUGH!!!! LMFAO! I'm now on panic mode, crying my eye balls out! 9:15p I ran to RALPHS. I stood there, not knowing who to ask. Then I approached the STARBUCKS counter. I know they are closed and cleaning up. I asked them I need a huge favor! Do any of them have AAA. I explained to them my situation. Julian, the barista, went above and beyond to help me. Even though they were already closed, he went out of his way to call AAA for me USING HIS Membership & his phone!!!! In less than 10-15 AAA arrived , unlocked my car & my furry monsters were safe!!!!! Words are just not enough to express how grateful I am to Julian. Anyone else wouldn't have believed me specially not having any kind of ID or cell phone with me. What a scary experience it was!!! Thank you Julian for opening up you heart, trusting me, and for being so generous!!!! Hopefully STARBUCKS & Ralph's acknowledges & recognizes the amazing caring employee they have!!!! I was a little frustrated after already visiting 2 other Ralph's that couldn't assist me. The rep at this particular location in the meat department was great! (sorry, I didn't get his name) he even fried my fish! They were low on the catfish nuggets that I wanted, but the rep automatically went above and beyond with customer service by offering to thaw more out for me...I was very pleased, but I declined as I was in a little hurry.... he was just so pleasant to me, that it made my day...if it wasn't for the mask, he would have known by the big smile on my face how pleased I was. I have been shopping at this market for the last 15 years. I have gotten to know many of the employees and am on a first name basis with them. I also know Francisco, the pharmacist. Managers come and go. I am not familiar with any of the managers. My main complaint is about PATTY, the cashier and CINDY, current mgr. PATTY has gotten to the point where she is disrespectful. She always checks everything that I buy at the self-checkout. She makes me feel as if I am shop lifting or changing prices on items, which is impossible. One day I asked PATTY for a rain check for Foster Farms Chicken that was on sale. After paying, I remembered that there was another item that I needed a rain check. Not wanting to bother her again, I went to the service desk to get the rain check. She saw me there and yelled across the checkstands to the person writing me the rain check not to give it to me since she had all ready given me one. She embarrased and humiliated me. Another time as I was paying at the self checkout she mentioned Costco. I told her I was on my way there. She then tod me (did not ask, but told me) to buy her some tennis shoes that were on sale and bring them back to her. Which by the way was not on the way home from Costco. I did it anyways. Another incident with PATTY was when I went in to buy Kroger brand beef sausage. I only bought 2 packages becuase that's all they had. The sale price was not coming up, so PATTY manually inserted the sale price. I went back in 2 days later to buy more sausage. PATTY informed me that the beef sausage was not on sale. I went back to the butcher and he told me to tell PATTY that Leon (I believe that was his name) said I could get the beef sausage for the sale price. I went back to the checkstand and PATTY still refused to give me the sale price. I asked to speak to the mgr and she said the mgr had said not to give me the sale price and refused to let me speak to the mgr. After all of these incidents, I called the mgr who happened to be CINDY. I spoke to her a good 30-40 minutes. I told her I no longer wanted to go into their store. I told her I would be transferring my prescriptions to Albertsons, which is down the street from Ralphs. She was very sympathetic and understanding. She even asked me if PATTY could be transferred to another store, would I be willing to come back to their store? I told her I did not want PATTY to have to go to another store. I just wanted to be treated with more respect and as a loyal customer. CINDY said she would talk to PATTY and get back to me within 2-3 days. It has been close to 2 months now and I have not received a call back from CINDY. As a mgr, CINDY is also a disappointment. She shows a lack of caring for customers. Poor mgmnt skills. I am so disappointed in their lack of Customer Service. Apparently they do not care if a loyal cutomer of over 15 years does not return. I have not gone back to Ralphs nor will I ever go back. Aldi's is around the corner and Albertsons and Stater Bros are down the street. I do not need Ralphs and apparently they don't care about losing 1 customer. read more

This is my go to neighborhood Ralph's and I want to acknowledge a gentleman that was taking time to clean/wipe down all of the handles of the frozen section yesterday 4/3/2020. One of the prettiest girls I had ever seen bagged my groceries today and the chicken I am did not say a word except bye. Oh well, she probably has a bf or husband, who knows. Another beautiful thing about ralphs is the sales, coupons and ralphs club card deals. On the busy Firestone blvd near the Stonewood mall lies on of downey's Ralphs stores. This ralphs had a nice looking parking lot, not nicer than the grocery baggers but nice. The aisle were good too, like many Ralphs. This Ralphs is not as upscale as a couple is SOC and WLA but it was very professional and clean. They had the deli, the bakery area, and all the places they are known for. I shop at Ralphs and Trader Joe more than other grocery stores. I see myself coming back to this one. read more

I have been coming here for many years, since it used to be Albertson's which moved further West on Firestone. Sadly neighbors have witness the slow decline of this store. Parking lot is dirty and pan handlers are always roaming around this store, making it difficult for customers to visit. This store has the potential to be the best grocery store in Downey. Thankfully we do have better ones...enjoy Ralph's by the 5fwy on Lakewood it is exemplary, Aldi on the corner so clean, tidy and friendly located on Firestone and Lakewood, Albertson's and Staters so clean so well organized and managers are always, courteous and inviting. Both are located West of this Ralph's on Firestone before Old River. Nancy the manager at this store needs extensive training on customer service and ADA. She is one complaint away to the proper authorities from being in serious trouble. Roger the gentleman above her had to ask her to be quiet and let me speak as I explained to him what I had just been put through...she would not stop yapping. According to Nancy there were two complaints of my service dog. This prompted her to send someone In a guard uniform to kick me out of the store as I waited for my medicines. The entire scene was embarrassing, unnecessary and untrue. The entire incident speaks volumes of the inept people running it. The poor excuse for a "guard" should be outside earning a paycheck and making it safe for customers to come inside. What a waste of money and cheap representation of customer safety first. When asked to produce the video of my dog... Nancy couldn't produce it..When asked to come to the pharmacy, for the line of customers to tell her HOE my service dog was misbehaving...she wouldn't go. She chose to corner me and badger me to the degree where her manager Roger asked her several times to stop yapping. She disrespected him too! Insubordination...ADA violation, messy store, dangerous filthy parking lot, expired shelf items including meats and dairy. Disrespecting customers and making false accusations of a supposed incident involving my service dog. A lazy guard...reflective of depreciated and distressed slandarous, disrespectful and vulgar behavior should not be tolerated. Again, employees are an extension of management. Within a 30min stay at the store, my dog.was accused of misbehaving...an utter lie, I was told by a suspecious looking guard that the manager "Nancy" wanted me and my service dog out of the store, my prescriptions were incomplete, I had to dig back for unspoiled dairy, the flowers I wanted were old and wrinkled not to mention a messy floral department ...Roger the actual store manager had to tell Nancy to shush and respect the customer and I was again approached by panhandling in the parking lot.
