I've been going to the Downey location for awhile now and after my visit today, I finally had to leave a review because the service is truly that good. As a busy mom, I usually don't make time to write reviews, but I'm genuinely grateful for the customer service I received today and wanted to take the time to recognize it. Carlos and Vanessa were both incredibly kind, quick, and efficient throughout the whole process. I came to this location for the first time yesterday 12/16 and could not believe how kind and helpful the staff here is! The young lady that helped me was very thorough about how I'm able to use my WIC benefits and gave me a walkthrough of the store and how it works! They were all extremely patient and at the end of my visit, she even helped me load my groceries into my car! Will definitely be returning to this location whenever I'm in the area! read more

This was actually my first time attending mother's at this location. Usually go to the one in so gate but recently moved to Downey - so this location is a lot closer to home. I love how organized, clean, and attentive the staff are. As soon as I walked in, there was an associate - middle aged woman wearing a badge lanyard- could be the manager, greeted me right away with a good morning and smile. I think thats good customer service. finally, the young lady cashier who helped, Maylin. she is so sweet and very helpful. she assisted me putting my groceries in the truck for me seeing I'm 9 mo pregnant. will def come back to this location. read more

Mother's Nutritional Center is a tiny grocery store in Downey, CA, that caters primarily to Women, Infants and Children (WIC). While this store has been in Downey for quite some time, it wasn't until recently (3/18/22) that I decided to pop in and check it out. This place accepts "cash, SNAP, EBT, Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT), Credit and Debit cards." They stress when you walk in that they are open to the public. It's a bit odd. My neighbor talked this place up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then she mentioned it again when she rushed to pick up groceries before her elderly parents came over a couple of months ago. Their motto according to their website is "just keeping it simple!" I'll say! Exceedingly limited is another adjective. This place is super tiny. You and a group of toddlers could join in "Ring Around the Rosie" and pass by all of the displays in one verse. Lol. I paid $.75 for a cucumber, $2.25 for a bag of pre-washed broccoli, and $1.50 for a bag of jalapeños. I asked if they had thyme or radishes. None. Other items like milk ($2.99 for a gallon of 2%) and eggs are behind the registers. An employee has to get these items for you. The main reasons I give this place 3 stars is because: 1) I like to check my own items for expiration dates. I get easily distracted by an attendant who has to grab them for me, talks my ear off, and then I forget to check the date. 2) They have a very limited assortment of fruits and vegetables - not at all like their website and Yelp business owner-provided photos perceives them to be. 3) This is store #444 that used to be on Lakewood Blvd (now on Paramount Blvd) and they are still printing that on their receipts as of March 2022. Very friendly employee, Josie, assisted me that day. Even offered to carry my items out to my vehicle. Pregnant mothers and parents with infants and very young children, I'd recommend this place for you. My visit was simply stated, disappointing. I think I have just found my new Mother nutritional center location; a bit of a drive because I don't live in Downey but worth the drive. This store is very friendly and the customer service is outstanding. My cashier which I wasn't able to get her name was very helpful along with ashley. This store is very different than others they have the baby section where you actually get to choose your baby food without having to circle anything with an erase marker. Great service here at the -444 center location in lake wood! came in with my husband and Arcelia the girl at the front was so helpful loved the fact that she offered us everything we didnt know we can get!! So many options and a lot of food for cheap and me being pregnant is a great deal , you have to eat the fruits and vegetables fast because they go bad fast ! And that's only because it's the best quality! Its organic and no hormones or chemicals added thats what people donr understand! U get the freshest purest food here!! I love this location everyone is always customer first. All of the women are warm, welcoming and love there job. This location is always stocked, clean and ready to shop. I've gone to other locations and the employees there aren't so friendly especially if asking for a product with a longer expiration (Bell Garden) The Downey locations never gives me an annoying look if I ask for a product with a longer expiration, they actually go look and also don't give me excuses or tell me they are all the same without looking...
