I was recently recommended to come here to look for tamales, and I'm so glad I did. The store may look a little older and worn, but don't let that deter you, the quality is great. Their pan dulce is fresh and delicious, and they have many options to choose from. Their tamales are delicious as well, I believe they have chicken, pork, and cheese. I'm definitely glad I gave this place a try, and I'll be coming back for more pan dulce and tamales. Highly recommend if you're looking for good fresh pan dulce or tamales.

If you're looking for great Mexican bread and pastries, this is definitely the place. However, on Mother's Day (May 10th), I decided to try their menudo for the first time and purchased 3 orders. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The menudo was extremely bland and seemed to be missing basic seasoning like salt and oregano. Normally, bland food can be fixed at home with a few spices, but the bigger issue was the large amount of grasa (grease/fat) in the caldo. The grease was very dense and excessive. I tried removing as much as possible, but there was still too much. In fact, I had to serve my mother the menudo without the broth because of how greasy it was. My recommendation: stick to the bread -- it's great. As for the menudo, maybe this was just a one-off experience, so others may want to give it a try for themselves. I personally hope they improve the recipe because it's difficult finding a good Sunday morning menudo spot in the Downey area.

After requesting to place an order for a cake I would need the next day the staff was more than happy to accept my order. Originally, I would have liked to order a carrot cake but those cakes need to be ordered at least a week in advance so that was very much my fault. I ended up going with a classic tres leches cake which tasted wonderful. Miriam was the one to help me out. Bonus points for having the same name ;) Miriam made great detailed questions to make sure the cake was exactly what I wanted it to be referencing off a picture I had showed her as inspiration. From size all the way down to the smallest details, Miriam disclosed information about how certain designs or details I wanted would change the presentation of the cake, and made sure I was delightlfuly satisfied with what would be the result. She broke down every last detail including how the icing would likely stain our mouths and very nicely reassured me that it would rise right off with water swishes. Overall I was incredibly satisfied with the service I was given, and I greatly appreciate how Miriam thought about every question in order to complete my desired vision.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience and honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. I stopped by one morning because I was craving a ham and cheese croissant. Yelp showed this bakery in my search results, so I decided to swing by. When I got there, they didn't have any croissants -- just cakes, cookies, and a few sweet pastries. That was fine, but what really turned me off was the service. There were a few people waiting for cake pre-orders. One of the cash registers didn't have a line, so I stood there for a bit, but no one acknowledged me. I eventually moved to the other line and waited my turn. When I got to the front, the cashier asked if I had a pre-order. I said no, I just wanted to grab a few cookies. Instead of helping me, she told me to hold on and went straight to the person behind me to ask if they had a pre-order -- and then asked, in a rude tone, "Who was here first?" as if I had cut the line. Thankfully, the person behind me spoke up and said I was there first. I bought a few custard cream puffs and sugar elephant cookies, but sadly, they weren't worth it. The cream puffs tasted stale and the cookies tasted store-bought. After this experience, I don't think I'll be coming back.

The theme was Bridgerton so I wanted it to be somewhat regal looking. The mama to be had a color scheme of Tiffany blue so we chose that color for the cake and I had a specific topping in mind which they easily created there. The second cake was a half sheet Rio (bird movie) themed cake for my kids in early September. They had one of those books that had premade ideas for kids cake so I chose one of those themes and then added my own cake topper since the movie is so old they no longer have the topping toys available. Both cakes were marble flavor with a strawberry filling. Both cakes were also reasonably priced. The 10in was $60 and the half sheet was $100ish. I can't remember exactly but something around there. But other than that it's very easy to order your cake. You can do it over the phone or in person. I prefer to walk in since I live nearby and because I usually have a picture of a cake I would like them to use as inspiration and they always execute it perfectly like the picture. The gentleman there who usually takes the orders will work with you if they cannot do something and give you other options too. Overall very happy with the cakes I've gotten from here and will definitely keep coming back here.

I showed her the design, sent my file of the books image I wanted. Together we figured it would be best to design it a certain way, which was a wrap of the books and plain on the top with the number 13. She was very accommodating and said they can make it. At the end we had a cake with minor problems. The book design at the top was not even and one side didn't completely reach. Like it was rushed but overall it was okay. It had the main theme "The Summer I turned Pretty" and my daughter's favorite books on the side. The 3 on thirteen don't really look like a 3, but it worked. I paid $180 for the cake please make it look complete. As far as the taste, the fresh strawberries on white cake tasted great. The fondant was a printed piece. It fed more than 40 people and had extra.

Once I found out there was going to be a Kuromi themed collab here I had sure to mark my calendar,…read moreso I've been looking forward to this! The collab started today and will last until the 31st. The store opens at 7am , but even though I got there around 8:30 and there was no line they still managed to sell out of a majority of the limited edition Kuromi themed pastries. Which was a little heart breaking, but also understandable. I ended up ordering the Kuromi Berry lemonade and some of their more popular items like the D Tia Blue (blueberry/cream cheese filled pastry) and the Japanini. Everything hit the spot as expected, but the highlight of my visit was definitely that berry lemonade! It had the perfect sweet to sour ratio and it looked very whimsical with its purple hue. I'll definitely be back to order that again and maybe I'll have better luck next time with the availability of the limited edition pastries. It wasn't as busy as it typically gets so took advantage of the opportunity and I dined in. During my visit I adored the Kuromi decor around the story. It was definitely picture worthy. They also have the cutest merch available for sale and of course I bought a sticker sheet to add to my sticker collection. The workers also wore pretty purple Kuromi hats and aprons, which is also included in their merch for sale fyi. If you're a Sanrio/Kuromi fan, do yourself a favor and RUN to your nearest Okayama Kobo cafe!
