Standing in line and one of the employees is filling up balloons near the register with helium. He then grabs a balloon, fills it up and begins inhaling it as he's walking and talking to other employees. Mind you, this is out in the open with customers to see. I needed help finding a specific item, and even though Rick was busy, he took the time to help me locate it. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and professional. What impressed me most was that it was Father's Day, and despite working on a holiday, he maintained such a positive attitude and went out of his way to assist me. I would also like to recognize Angie. I shop at this store regularly and see her often, and she is always kind, friendly, and helpful. During this visit, I was looking for an item, and she also went out of her way to help me find it. Angie consistently provides excellent customer service and always makes customers feel welcome. Albertson's has the worst pharmacy customer service. I transferred from Rite Aid to Savon Pharmacy inside Albertson's Market in Downey, after all Rite Aids closed. I had nothing but the worst customer service starting with an employee named Richard. They keep putting my medication back on stock because they had the wrong phone number so I told them to please change it and Richard stated need to go on the app. I did but it keeps saying no one found. I went back to Albertson and told Richard, my problem he stated that I have another customer after you which means you could not help me with my problem I was here first he stated does your problem if the app does not find your personal information. Have you seen they locked up the majority of nonfood items to the left of the store? You have to get an employee to unlock the items now, like soap and OTC meds! I've rarely chosen this location over the grocery store across the street due to their lack- luster customer service. If I've ever needed help, the employees were not friendly nor helpful. Now, I mainly go to use the DMV Kiosk when needed. The newly locked up items just gives bad vibes. I'm wondering how long it'll take for the neighborhood to complain so they can take those ridiculous things away. I used to come here all the time to buy apples. This Albertsons location has had the exact same Opal Apples (PLU 3618) for like three weeks straight. They were already starting to lose their flavor then. I can't imagine what the same exact apples taste like now. How do I know they're the same? I work in customer service and I don't take anything personal if workers aren't cherry and super upbeat or anything but I also don't expect to de disrespected. Today's visit deserves 1 star due to lack of customer service and poor communication with their staff and customers. There's a line of customers growing at the customer service desk for 45 mines. A worker took MINUTES to find out where to put the money in a self check out station, please do your job and at least know where to put the money. A worker spoke Spanish to my best friend just because she was darker than him and had a bit of an accent. Unless the customer speaks Spanish to you, do not speak Spanish to them. Went to Albertsons today to buy some flowers balloons and birthday card and was utterly disappointed with the customer service I received from the store manager Sarai. I saw about 4 employees standing around doing nothing so I asked my cashier if someone can help put the flowers together. She called over Sarai, who was at distance just standing around... I asked again if someone can help me with the flowers and she annoyingly pulled down her mask and said "well have to charge u an extra 20%" I then mentioned to her I came a few months ago and the cashier at the time did it for me- free. Albertsons is not my top choice for grocery shopping, but it sure does come in handy when I need booze, a last minute flower gift, or a side dish that I don't have time to make for a party. The only thing holding this location back from 5 stars is the cashier lines. They can be painfully slow sometimes and just.... 1.... cashier available during the middle of the day. - parking lot is nicely lit at night - usually the carts are collected quickly - no more self-checkout lines If you sell recyclable items at rePlanet which is also located in the same parking lot, you can either cash out your voucher at Albertsons or use it as credit towards a grocery purchase. I ended up waiting 33 minutes when I finally asked someone if the customer service was closed he went to your cashier the first one near customer service. A guy was working that register this was Friday March 12 around before noon or around noon and that cashier looked bothered to have to call someone to help me even though he saw me standing there that long. Very unacceptable, I normally don't post bad reviews unless needed and this day it was needed. Stopping by to get my random items that I like to have with me at work and noticed that they are remodeling the store. This is a very nice store. I do normally come here for grocery shopping and the experiences I have had have always been pleasant, even during covid. The staff at store are always working hard. My only advice really for shopping at this store really is check the products best by day or expiration date. I myself have taken some very close to date things home and even some past the best buy date. They also have redbox and water bottle refill machines which I use. Happy New Year everyone. read more

i'm udating my review from 2 years ago from 1 star to 2. this particular location i only come to for specific things & one of those are flowers. they have more variety, quantity & assortment than most stores. unfortunately they failed me today. i was so preoccupied with checking out the blooms & bulb heads i completely forgot to check out the stems & leaves. i bot a dozen of the columbian roses & got them home to soak them & found all the leaves brown, crushed, or with holes [from insects] on them, i had to remove 90% of them. even if i had remembered to check the stems & leaves throughly i don't know if i would have seen them since they are in a frosted wrap with a design on it. just so you know check them first before you leave the store, maybe get some extra greenery & if you are giving as a gift don't leave it in the wrap & check the leaves before you give them [or the giftee with think you're cheap with some 1/2 @ss roses even if you're not]. read more

This Albertsons has HORRIBLE service! This establishment will never get my business again. They advertised Gortons Air fried shrimp and white fish bags for buy one get one free. When I finished scanning my items, the discount wasn't applied. I turned around and asked the worker (a bald Latino man with glasses) who seemed annoyed to be bothered. He said it will discount when I check out; I replied I checked out. He then calls another worker, bigger guy wearing a yellow vest, to look for the product. So there I waited almost 10 minutes for him to come back and tell the bald dude he didn't see the discounted sign and showed a photo of the product, FROM A DIFFERENT LOCATION THAN WHERE I GOT IT! The bald guy was quick to tell me there's no discount to which I replied yes there is and there's a sign and that guy didn't go to the area where I grabbed the item from. I then have to instruct him, the PERSON WHO WORKS THERE, where I got the bag. So i waited again another 6-9 minutes. He returns, no apology for the wait or really any communication. He walked right up to the register and I had to initiate the conversation and ask "well, did you find it?" He goes yea, and inputs the discount. Finished, still with no apology for being incompetent and making me wait for their incompetence. Shopper beware- Horrible service. Opt out for wal-mart or target. You'll get better service at markets in the hood than this place. read more

She agreed to (in a bad mood), and repeated herself, and told me, we had to learn to do it, because she could not help me all the time. Literally it was the first time I had asked her for help. After dealing with the man on numerous occasions, I can go on record and state that the manager is a skirt chaser for sure, and possibly a duffus. Every time a skirt would come in, duffus manager would stare and break his neck following the skirt walking in the store. Discretion? None what's so ever, someone needs to teach duffus manager that you supposed to do a 180° turn a couple seconds before the skirt walks by so you can have a clean look without getting caught. Duffus manager stares and stares and stares, breaking his neck anytime a skirt walks in or out. Somethings wrong at home when a grown man acts like that at work. I wasn't sure how to handle this but it does bother me to see our own race make you feel belittled or try. Went in to buy a flower arrangement or plant of some sort , they have the best flower shop!! ! I put both bags back left the ribbons on , picked a different bag and Just left I didn't want them to think I was stealing anything and didn't feel comfortable anymore... but in shopping for other items I needed I realized why am I running I didn't do anything... so I went back & asked the florist if she wanted to check the flower bag I picked to make sure I hadn't changed anything? She said no, no, no it's ok if you need anything just let me know. I then said to both of them, I wasn't switching bags.. (I wasn't) I was tieing back the ribbons & fixing them for you, the assist then said ... I saw you ! I said I heard you ! I wasn't switching bags she then threatened me with ... we have cameras! I answered, you don't scare me look at the cameras, bottom line she made me feel like a thief !!! and still had the audacity of saying I was being disrespectful!!! Wow over ribbon! I find it very unprofessional, she shouldn't be working there , doesn't appreciate that she has a job because of customers like me , I said you know next time you should address your concerns to the florist without making the customer uncomfortable, maybe she should have approached me & offered to help & not acuse me .. the florist was very nice & she did professionally ask if I needed anything she could arrange for me , she kept trying to get the assistant to let it go but the assistant wasn't having it ! for every word I said she'd answer something she went as far as saying she has RIGHTS too ! rights I was there to shop not be accused if anyone had rights it was me ... she's rude & unpleasant ... store manager needs to send her back to training she has a short circuit... I still went back to keep looking at the arrangements just because ... so I was there a while! She kept watching me .. I love that store and will continue shopping there but she was out of line , she did apologize at some point but it wasn't sincere she was still accusing, threatening, rude & felt she had to have the last word . I am leaving this review because of the superhero who saved the day, Raul, at the Albertsons on Firestone Blvd in Downey, CA. Yesterday, I purchased a variety of chocolates and flowers for my wife. I got home, and my wife saw the receipt before she saw me. She was surprised and happy that I had bought her orchids. I was like, yes, I did. Here you go!! Feeling great that I hit a home run, I gave her the flowers. To her surprise and mine, she pointed out that the flowers I handed her weren't orchids. However, I was charged for my Daisy flowers and $30 Orchids. I called the number on the receipt and waited 20 mins before getting rerouted again to the same answering message. Finally, a lady answered. I wish I had gotten her name. She was accommodating as well. She told me they would check the camera and leave a note for the morning crew. The following day I get there at 7 am, I walk up to a cashier counter and meet a friendly man without a Superhero cape but a name tag saying Raul. He helps me with one refund, then points me to the counter for my Orchid refund. Here, I wait again for someone for about another 20 mins. However, around every 5 mins, while rushing out the customers he has in his line. He kept coming out to check on me and to see what the hold-up was. I had a meeting and couldn't wait much longer, but the fact this maskless superhero kept coming out to check on me was something else. He ultimately stepped in and got the green light to refund me himself because the lady yesterday did leave a note after checking the cameras. It could have been the couple behind me that had orchids. Either way, I am happy. My wife still liked her pretty flowers, and I met a guy who could probably leap over buildings. In this case, Raul saved me half a gas tank worth of cash and a lot of time/stress of figuring out the next time I could come back to get this resolved. This location has been actively and knowingly selling expired baby food that has probably been there since before the pandemic. We purchased some last week and we didn't realize it was expired until after we were feeding it to our 8 month old that we noticed he wasn't eating it. We smelled it and we almost threw up. This was only one pouch out of like 6 pouches we purchased that time. Fast forward to today we went to buy the same food again and every single piece of baby food was expired!! They brought more food from the back and almost all of it expired in a week or two. It is evident they are still selling old food that they probably had deom before or the beginning of the pandemic. Came here today with expectations of purchasing Thresher shark. None Available. The salmon and crab cakes were good second choices. The meat dept manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Great guy. I left his area and cruised by the bakery. I saw some awesome birthday cakes and decided to take a photo to send to the wife. I wanted to ask her if she like it thereby I would order one. "YOU CAN'T TAKE PICTURES" , "YOU CANT TAKE PICTURES" shouted a very large Gestapo-ish looking woman from behind the counter. "Huh? I'm sending the photo to my wife for approval." I stated sheepishly (her 5'7" 280 lbs physique with arms larger than Arnold Shwartzenaeger, was very intimidating as I'm only 5'10" 180 lbs and I didn't want to get my azz kicked). "YOU WANT PICTURES?, GO ON THE WEBSITE!" she commanded. "Ok" I said. I am posting the awesome cake photos that I "downloaded" from the website ;) I headed for the checkout line. Geez, the bakery Tyrant's identical twin sister at the register. She is busy talking with a coworker's mother about Halloween. Are you freakin kidding me? Don't come to work to actually work??? All the other lines are moving and I am stuck having to listen to their prolonged conversation. In an effort for her to stall, the cashier began bagging in slow motion and walking around her "foxhole" to load the shopping cart, as she continued with her conversation. Finally, she gets to me and kicks it into slow gear (which is probably high speed for her). I informed her that I was going to use my debit card. She nodded. Uh, excuse me Ma'am, there is some information on the screen that appears to be a debit card transaction from the previous customer. "WE HAVENT USED CUSTOMER IDs FOR SOME TIME NOW YOU PROBABLY ARE CONFUSED ABOUT WHICH STORE YOU'RE AT!" What? Uh, no. This is Albertsons. I am merely bringing this info to your attention as I don't want an error on my transaction due to residual customer payment information on the card machine. "I TOLD YOU THAT WE HAVENT USED CUSTOMER IDs FOR SOME TIME NOW YOU PROBABLY ARE CONFUSED ABOUT WHICH STORE YOU'RE AT!" She scowled... Geez, what is in the Downey water????
