Let's face it we all need supermarkets. The decision on selecting which one varies for us all. We tend to be creatures of habit & become familiar with product locations, which helps when in a hurry. Most large chain stores have basically the same items at pretty much the same prices. That's because they operate on small markup & rely on volume. Sure we find deals from time at other markets & it's good to get value for your dollar. So what sets this store apart. The staff, In particular Manny, customer service manager. Over the years I've seen him always try to assist customers with discounts etc. I also hear & see how he treats the staff even while insanely busy checking out customers. Good fried chicken , but I ordered by phone 24 hours in advance for a 3 o'clock pickup. Easy right? Nope, got there and the line was long, 10 minutes for 3 people. Now it's 3:08, it's not ready. They send me to pay, not ready. Now it's 25 minutes and counting after pickup time. So some organization is needed. Mind you, I'm in a hurry to take food for a party. I love going here when I'm looking to shop for wine or beer. They have a fine variety of wines, and also a decent selection of beers. My girlfriend also loves shopping their gluten-free isle. Walked in here today to check out What I hear is a good meat selection. I definitely was impressed. They have a wide variety of meats and fish to choose from that you Normally don't find in markets. The down side is the customer service was bad. Not once was I asked if I needed help at the deli. I had to approach a worker for help. I went to check out at the register and was not greeted. I said hello and got a low mumbled hello back. I paid and said have a good weekend and got no response. This is not bad enough for me to not return but it was very noticable as that is not proper customer service. There is a lot of competition in this city and the Raulphs and Albertsons near by have been better experiences for me. Everything else was A-okay!! read more

Albertsons Downey is my local store so I am there quite often. From the moment I exit my car, I am greeted in the parking lot by the friendly crew. I walk in through the doors and I see Sara, one of the friendliest, kindest, sweetest and most helpful people I know! I don't ever find it difficult to find someone to products but in the rare occasions I do, there is always someone there to help. I not only visit this store for groceries. This is my GO TO store for any floral items I need. Mel and Maria are thee best! Always greet me with a smile! Always accommodate my crazy last minute ideas. I can't get enough of them! Absolutely never coming back here. The employees are rude and useless. One employee scolded my 6 year old for touching a plant terrarium, while I was standing right next to here watching her. She wasn't picking up the terrarium, she touched it with her finger because obviously terrariums are really cool. I thought "really bitch?" She wasn't being reckless or wild or anything. Then at the checkout area the stupid self checkout was ridiculously sensitive so it kept saying my things weren't being bagged. The employee came over and told me my daughter was putting her hands on it and that's why it was messing up. No, lady. My kid was standing two feet beside me and I'm bagging the groceries myself. I enjoy going to Albertsons, This is for the flower and deli section. They always have the most beautiful flowers and a wide variety. Their deli section is great , we like buying their rotisserie chicken they have different flavors such as lemon pepper and rosemary . I don't usually shop at Albertsons except for the cake. They made an absolutely stunning cake for my parents, the most beautiful cake I've ever seen. I asked for a photo cake with strawberries and chocolate on top. I topped off the cake with some gold candles. The photos they put on the cake if you ask them to put it on look exactly like the photo you provide them with. It was a delicious and beautiful cake. The frosting was super fresh. read more

Since I can't take the survey, because it hasn't been 30 days since I took the last one,(But it's a NEW month, c'mon! ;-D LOL) I thought I would YELP this store. I don't shop here as much as I used to, (prices do that), I still do every now and then, and am so glad it's there. They do have a great variety of everything. I also like to buy their "Essentials" products. I've been shopping here for many, many years, and have come to know several people who work here, and I LOVE this store! The employees make a point to be personable, and get to you know you. Excellent customer service, from the minute you walk in, until you check out. I was there on the 4th and the today, and both times, I interacted with Manny. He's hilarious, makes the pain of the grocery bill, less painful, because he's funny and carries on a great conversation! It was on the 4th, that I couldn't use a coupon I had gotten because I didn't read it correctly and forgot the other item I needed, and Manny wen to go get the product I needed so I could use the coupon. While I hated to hold up the line a little bit longer, I greatly appreciated his help. The cashier on the 4th was Josie R, whom I hadn't seen in quite some time, but she remembered me and asked not only where my family was, as I usual shop with them, but HOW they were. Ruben Torres is another employee who is very helpful and friendly, ALWAYS has a friendly smile and kind word. Monique, I believe she is a store manager, while I don't see her often, when she does see me, she too smiles and says Hello. While she may not know me/us like some others, you can tell she does recognize me/us. It's just so nice to shop at a store that feels almost like family. Shout out to the Manny the Manager for taking care of us today. Bought a propane tank from Walmart and when took it home and hooked it up we discovered it was defective. Albertsons is a lot closer to us than Walmart so we decided to go to Albertsons to most likely have to repay for an exchange but Manny just let us swap it out. No extra charge. I really like the Albertson's chains. This one is nice and big and always has plenty of parking. Everything is properly tagged and reflects the current prices. Staff are funny and are always cracking jokes. I drive here from H.P. for a good reason. It's so clean and sometimes the lines can get long but I try to shop strategically and visit later in the evening. I think the prices here are a little higher than the rest but I enjoy the quality and freshness of their goods over the Food 4 Less and Superior's in my area. read more

This store has been great. The manager, Danny, and the front manager, Manny, are outstanding and very helpful. The reason for the four out of five stars was because of an incident that I had at the store recently with a rude employee. I have never in all my time there had a bad experience. This was not the norm for the store but it was a pretty bad incident. After I contacted the store about the problem with the employee, Danny contacted me and was super helpful and apologetic about the situation. The way the incident was handled is why I will go back. Every employee, other than the one, is really nice and friendly. The produce is better than the other stores around and they always have the items I want in stock. I have bought chicken strips from Albertson's for many years and they were always very good. reasonably priced and well seasoned. the chicken strips that I picked up from this Albertson's today were hard, over cooked, were like little popcorn balls and no flavor. Never ever going back to this grocery store!! I went to buy their fried chicken on the 4th of July and they didn't have enough cashiers and the ones they did have were slow. I chalked that experience up to, maybe it's because of the holiday so I went back 3 weeks later. Unfortunately, nothing changed. I was in the for what felt like 20 min with very slow cashiers. They could have at least opened the self-check out registers for those of us with only one item. Check expiration dates on food. I have been there twice and not planning on a third. On my first visit, found two packages of chicken that had been expired a week prior. I gave the expired meat to an employee. On the same day, I wanted chili bean soup from deli area (where the fried chicken is) and the first one I picked up was also expired:( Gave that to the employee at the deli to take off shelf. Last week, I picked up 5 frozen 'Lean Cuisines' and I did not check expiration dates (my mistake). When I was placing food in fridge, noticed two had expired in April. I also bought Greek yogurt and brought one to work today... opened it and it was very fluid and guess what, expires today. So just make sure to check dates on the food. read more

Went in today to buy some food saw posted sign baked chicken for 5.99 and didnt notice I was charged 7.99 regular price until checkout, so I went back to food dept and said I was charged wrong. Lady goes on to tell me that the sign should have been taken down since Sunday says it was for fried chicken (I said it doesnt say fried it says baked) I then said the sign you took down right now as I'm talking to you was up and its Tuesday?? can I speak to a manager and she said she is on lunch(1030a.m) and there is no one else come back later??? I visited this location to order a Keg and the clerk told me to call another person later that day. I called back and turned out he was off that day. It wasn't urgent so I called the next week and he was off again so I spoke to Jackie (Manager) who ordered it for me. She let me know that I'd get a call to let me know it has arrived. I called in today (9:38am) to inquire on it and was left on hold for 7 minutes. I hung up and dialed 0 again for the operator. They let the phone ring until 9:56am and I didn't hang up because now it's about the principal. Someone answered and since the person I'm supposed to speak with isn't there (again) I asked to speak to the manager. I mentioned them not answering the phone and she said "sorry". I don't need a speech but at least sound genuine or try to sound like you give a damn about your customers! If I didn't need it for tomorrow I'd just leave it but this is the last time I shop here. Newsflash Jackie, States Bros is on the next block! Ralph's is further down the street. You've got competition around but wait you're not the owner so why would you care? Unfortunately my recent experiences at this Store have been very unpleasant and have raised some safety concerns. The one star is strictly for safety concerns and not a reflection of staff whatsoever. Staff has been great- particularly during the pandemic and the challenging circumstances. The staff here works very hard despite the obvious staffing shortages. Two weeks ago while standing in line there was a violent customer yelling and screaming, making threats- horrible! Downey PD was dispatched, etc. This afternoon while making a quick run to the store I experienced an incident in the parking lot myself. I spoke with the manager on duty to express my concerns with safety at this store in recent weeks. She was very pleasant and listened to my expressed concerns and assured me she would pass this on to upper management, which i appreciated. There is an obvious shift and noticeable change at this store and I hope management is aware and takes necessary steps to ensure the public's safety. Paying higher prices at Ralph's down street or driving to Cerritos for trader joes may very well be worth it for the sake of safety! read more

The food is OK but the people behind the counter are some of the rudest people I ever came across. I not paid by a survey. I am giving an honest review. I shopped there 9/12/15 and had difficulty with the check out and cashier and bagger young man forgot his name helped me that day. I dropped my card on that day I called and asked if it was turned in was on hold for ten minutes then hung up on. Called back and asked for Danny Ortiz girls said he wasn't there. But was transfered to a Monica I believe a manager. Was on hold for Ten minutes then she answered put me on hold for thirty minutes frustrated I hung up. I can't believe they would treat their customers like this but it is shade for that day only. I will not go there again. I will drive to willow st in long beach CA where they always are extremely helpful and nice and have true customer service and appreciation. read more
