The Promenade at Downey is a retail, dining, & entertainment destination. It's very nice and a lot of thought was put into this community space. There are multiple seating areas, a section for dogs, and reading stations throughout that tell the store of the city of Downey's contributions to space exploration and movie history. I also came across the Time Capsule, that will be opened in 2056, which is the year of its 100th anniversary. It would be cool to see what was put inside on October 17, 2016. I've been here several times to eat at some of the restaurants. Parking is plentiful. You can spend an entire day here browsing the stores, watching a movie, and grabbing a bite to eat. read more

I initially misread this spot and thought it was an outdoor shopping mall. On our first time here.. and we found out the Promenade is actually more so large plazas with big stores/restaurants and a movie theater!!! My girlfriend and I parked at one side and walked down one row, looking through stores and feeling pleasant at how huge and clean many were! In Downey, this area is definitely a good way to kill time and maybe find some great things to buy. We visited the Skechers store, Homegoods, Five Below, new store called Hibbett (which has Nike Adidas etc), TJ Maxx, and ended up at Panera Bread (which is also fairly huge and even has a drive thru). Other side included more restaurants and stores like Burlington, Chipotle, Daiso, Walmart, etc.. the list goes on!!! I also noticed that traffic here isn't horrible despite a large plaza with so much selections!! Weather was gorgeous and so the trip here was pleasant also. Amazing place to shop, eat, watch a movie, or just walk! Place is clean, plenty of parking space, big selection of shopping stores and food choices . The ambience is relaxing and you get more for your money; it adds value to any day of the week. In addition, the park and the cutest museum around is literally accross the street. I like the Promenade at Downey! Started visiting here about 2 months ago when I was picking some food from Panera. The Promenade is across from Kaiser Permanente. On my way to Panera, I saw some stores that I visit from time to time such as Daiso, Bath and Body Works, and TJ Maxx/HomeGoods. These stores are all in a row. The Promenade is structured by separate buildings housing certain businesses. For instance, Cinemark Theaters is in its own building and it would be a bit of a walk through several parking lots to get to Wal-mart. Businesses are spread out a bit either on the sides closer to Lakewood Blvd, Apollo Wy, or Steve Horn Way. There are maps to help you get to where you need to go. Panera is in a building next door to a Noodle restaurant. There are a good amount of restaurants (CA Fish Grill, Gaucho Grill, Benihana, 5 Guys and more), shops (Burlington, Carter's and Oshkosh, Skechers, etc.), and services (gym, dentist, banks, hearing aid store, etc.) in the Promenade. So far when visiting with my family member, I've always been able to find a disability parking space. I'm more inclined to visit here than the Stonewood Mall in Downey. read more

What a difference a few years makes! I have family who (literally) live across the street and around the corner from this place. There really was nothing to notice about this area whenever we came to visit back in the day because there really was nothing here. Fast forward a couple of decades later, this once "nothing-to-see-here" area is now filled with what seems like endless conglomerates! One can kill a lotta time up in here. You can watch a movie, workout, shop and eat all in the same place. I, myself, have been to a few places here naming Gaucho's, Lazy Dog's and California Fish Grill. Parking is never an issue but may require you to park far from the more popular spots like Gaucho and 24HR Fitness. What an amazing improvement. Glad to see the city of Downey finally comin' up! Looking forward to comin' back in this area and do a little further exploring. read more

The Promenade... hated by many, loved by some, but respected by all thanks to the taxes and revenue it has brought and will continue to bring to Downey. There is a rich history on this piece of land. What once was aircraft manufacturing central and later major motion picture production central has now faded into an oblivion of chain restaurants and several big name stores in addition to a cinema. All there is left of that incredible past is "space history" and "movie history" walk areas near Cinemark, the newest and now largest movie theater in Downey. The largest building would be the Walmart Superstore. As much as many community members detested this idea, there are many low-income, struggling Downey residents that needed this. Here are just a few of the stores & eateries that I have frequented thus far - some good and some just middle-of-the-road: Dickey's BBQ Five Guys Burgers Fresh Griller Lazy Dog Cafe MOD Pizza Noodles & Co. Directly across from the Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center and Discovery Park (baseball, soccer field) and the Columbia Memorial Space Center. Open now: Cinemark movie theaters , the L.A. Fitness gym and the Floor & Decor store. There are numerous restaurants slated to open in the Spring. (One of my anticipated favorites: The Green Olive - Mediterranean cuisine) Shopping (apparel mostly), banking, nail salon and ATT store are also set for opening. This plaza of the Downey promenade has tons of stores. It has quite a bit of different varieties of eating in or say take out for your lunch and dinner. There's a movie theater, a gym, about 2 banks, an at&t cellular store, even a giant Walmart at the far end. On one side of the plaza is the Downey landing on which has more stores to choose apart from the promenade and the crossing is connected with the same driveway. On the other side across the street is the kaiser hospital in which might come handy for any means necessary. Security officers are on their cellular phone constantly looking at social media as that's them trying to make easy money, plus looking ways to listen to people conversations and make false statements to make themselves look good. Drive to see for yourself, order some food to eat at the plaza, see with your own eyes for yourself. Some department store workers will write up on a security officer with false statements if they see the officer doing a good job and will say something to their main supervisor to make them get a write up. This location is good to visit for the simple enjoyment of your business and pleasure like watching a movie or to the gym to work out if you have a membership, but of course people come to Walmart. Hopefully the business will pickup after a long time of a year of no services due to what had happened in 2020 with the famous trend of the news of the world with the letter C of 19. Now that's it's spring of 2021, hopefully the people can enjoy going back to the department store or to eat out with some enjoyment on their side. One of the best foods is from 302, it serves boba drinks. Go eat there and drink a giant Boba drink as it's pretty great food. read more

This place has really grown and transformed over the past two years!! I am amazed at the growth and the stores here. There is a super huge selection of stores. Everything you need is here from the gym to the movies to restaurants to clothing to home needs. They are still building. This will be one of the biggest shopping centers in the area. Another great addition to the city of Downey. The Promenade brought in more retail stores, a new theater, and tons of restaurants. It is located where Aerospace and the Downey Studios once stood. As you walk through and take a look at the ground there are large medallions describing the history of the space program and movie history. Some of the things I have been to include Cinemark theater, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Five Guys, Ulta, and Active. I know it isn't much but I am working on it! I can't wait to see what else they add as there are still places that are not yet leased. I will definitely be back to check out the rest and get my grub on! read more

This is a really nice shopping complex with fantastic eating options in the area as well as surrounding area.

The best part of the promenade is def the Panera! Getting a pastry from there and then going to the cinemark! The worst part (other than really expensive and bland stores) it literally stinks of sewage. Like why? It's gross! It literally made me gag! Also unfortunately I had a run in with security cuz of a small car accident. They were really professional and super friendly and helpful. Made the situation less of a hassle. I mean I still go here occasionally just really for Panera haha. Everything else is rather bootleg or waaayy too pricy! read more

I had a experience with one of the property managers Mark which was one for the books.This property guy was so unprofessional and inappropriate.I was here on business and also a customer that lives in the surrounding area.From across the parking he screams move your truck do you think sprint wants your fucken truck parked in front of it.Wow,I'm sorry but who are you.You better identify yourself before you start assuming things.How unprofessional that this guy curses at me ,not knowing my business.I was there taking care of one of his customers.By the way Mark we went into Sprint and no one had a problem with us parking there but you.I will park anywhere in the promenade that I Please,that is legal parking.If you Mark the property manager want to selectively enforce your own parking rules get some signage.So you might want to think Twice,Mark!Tow me I'm still parked in front of the Sprint.You Clown.Id call the experience a verbal assault! read more

This place sucks, the parking is so horrible and it doesn't help a good chunk of it is eaten up by the valet parking now. Avoid this corporate hell hole and go support the small businesses of downey. read more

I have been coming here for years, the valet on the weekends is amazing. For an area that gets busy quick and early it's amazing not having to worry about parking. The attendants have always been so helpful but today there was no valet. Took almost 15 minutes to find parking, missed dinner reservation and had to reschedule. Terrible terrible. The main problem is that things are separated. Like in a mall you have everything walking distance. However, if I wanted to go to Walmart and to Lane Bryant I would have to move my car. Certain areas have a lot of parking compared to others. In addition, many places do not have a public restroom. Lane Bryant, Closet G, Famous Footwear, etc. Only the food spots have restroom, besides Walmart, the Cinemark, or a big store. It somewhat forces everyone to stop by and eat there to use a restroom, if it is needed. This is an annoyance when traveling with kids or seniors. It seems illogical not to have a designated area for a public restroom.The Stonewood Center is better for this reason, even if it seems outdated. Overall, the Walmart is pretty nice there. I would only go there for the Walmart and the Cinemark. read more
