Although it's a small mall it has what I need. With Aldi, Target, JC Penney, Ross, Burlington, Old Navy and IKEA I get the majority of my weekly/monthly shopping done. I can always find a bargain at one of the stores to fit my budget. I love that they added JD Sports in the place of Big 5. I get all my hubby's Vapormax shoes from JD. Great choice mall management. I appreciate that the mall grounds inside and out are kept clean. It's so convenient when you need an item asap and can't wait for delivery. The lots are pretty well lit and mall security is visible. I even saw mall security give a citation to someone who was double parked. I didn't know that could happen. Overall I give our little mall an A+! Southbay Pavilion is Carson Mall to me forever. It will always be Carson Mall to me. This is where I grew up in Carson, my stomping ground. I am so happy that this place is still around. A place I can come eat, shop & watch a movie. This place is still standing but I hope more stores will be added to this location. I love coming to the Thursdays Farmers Market. I love how there is still activities going on in this mall. Zumba, and many celebrations: Halloween, Easter, and more. read more

The good: This is a small mall with JCPenny, Burlington coat factory, Ross dress for less and a theater as their anchor stores. There is a small food court area inside and some other service shops like a nail salon and lash studio. My daughter enjoyed sitting on all of the coin operated rides (there are 2 areas with these). There was plenty of parking. There are several kids kiosks inside that sell cheap plastic toys. The bad: It's very small and is like a micro mall. It's only one straight hall and one story. The interesting: They have a balloon setup outside of JCPenny right now that says "dad" with two baseball bats and baseballs made of balloons that makes for a nice Father's Day photo opportunity (though you'll have to crop out the JCPenny sign in the back). Bad management. It's Sunday and there's only two cashiers while I saw at least 3 other employees walking around. They need to prioritize customers more. There's like 20+ customers in-front of me, and easily about 30+ behind me. I was going to walk-out and leave the product on the side - but my wife insisted they would probably add another cashier while we wait. Nope. It did not happen. Wasted 30 minutes waiting to pay and make them business. Last time. The management is bad. Not like they don't have customers. Many in line waiting to pay. Just poor management. Headquarters needs to come in and change things including managers before this place sinks. I love Burlington, but won't be coming back to this location, ever. 1/10. read more

The Southbay Pavilion just isn't what it used to be when I was growing up. I lived right around the corner so I would always walk here with friends to take pictures and or just hang for the day. That's when Newberry's was around. Does anyone remember Newberry's? Throwback from the 90's LOL. Or, maybe it is exactly the sam and I'm just older so my mall expectations have changed? I know a lot of what it is now is due to COVID-19. Forever 21 was a huge deal coming to this mall and now with it closed, how will they attract the younger crowds? There are other additions but it will not attract the Gen Z crowd. Does a mall even attract this group? LOL You can find this mall off the 405 and Avalon Blvd. You can't miss Ikea! oh and Target...Those are pavilion staple stores :) COVID-19 - the entrance to the pavilion is closed off for door handle access. You can only access through the automatic doors. Directly when you walk in there's a hand sanitizing station for your use. They removed all the tables and chairs that used to line the foyer for dining. Masks are required for entry and they have a sign at the entrance requiring those who feel sick to stay home. My go-to stores at the Pavilion are: JC Penny (Sephora) - I mean why else would anyone shop here LOL J/k Claires - My daughter loves this store Old Navy Bath and Body Works - Fairly new to this mall and a great addition. Footlocker Metro Fusion - My husbands favorite store The Children's Place Ross - New Burlington Coat Factory - New Shiek - For my Adidas fix Carson Vision - They accept VSP What they aren't short on is food...I mean the eats at and around this mall are endless... I went to to pickup dinner real quick at this location last week. I walked in at 7:48pm and the doors were open, the salsa was out etc. I told the young lady (who was texting on her phobe) at the register that I'd like to make an order to go. She said "We are not accepting any more orders" I said, "Are you closed?" "No we close at 8." I said, " I'm confused it's 7:48." She replies, " We don't take orders after 7:45 p.m." What happened to customer service? I don't understand how you can be standing in front of a paying customer and refuse to put in a to-go order just because you don't feel like working. If you don't take orders after 7:45 p.m. then close your doors. This is stupidity at its finest. I often pass up this location which is right by my office to go to the Chile Verde on Figueroa because of stuff like this. I will not be going back there again. read more

I remember the golden age of this mall back in the 90s and early 2000s. We had everything you could ever want here! These days its more of a hall than a mall, but it gets the job done I suppose. The food court needs more options and it definitely needs more attractive stores. The movie theater was probably the most updated thing that has happened here so far. The Ikea has always been an anchor, but the Target, Burlington, and Ross are all wonderful additions. Its sad that we lost the Sears which had been there for decades, but nothing lasts forever. Clean, modern, and convenient. Easily accessible with lots of free parking! There are familiar stores and restaurants that we have in Hawaii like Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Subway, Chili's, Target, 24 hour Fitness, and Sears. Things we don't have: IKEA, Five Guys, Panera Bread, Olive Garden, Pieology, and JCPenney. For sure, I will return to this mall! This mall needs serious security before things get out of hand. You now see people bring their dogs in and allowing them to soil the floors. They put the dogs on the rides that are meant for children, and then there are the individuals running around on skates. To top it off there are reports of cars being stolen from the parking lot! No matter how good or crappy this mall gets, I will always love CARSON MALL. I remember the TIME OUT! arcade where I took a Pepsi Challenge and got a customer card, shopping at Newberry's with my grandma when she was still alive, hitting up the Chuck E. Cheese (that is STILL THERE to this day!!! WOW!), Mc Donald's, and the freakin' ONCE EPIC Toys R' Us store that used to be there when I was a kid growing up. So many freakin' memories....damn, I feel old!!! Hot Dog on a Stick and Mrs. Fields are STILL THERE, same with the Foot Locker and Pizza Place, etc. I remember when I was little tweenager doing a cultural scavenger hunt around that mall to be entered into some raffles for the most random prizes. I ended up winning a Ninja Gaiden 2 and Tecmo Pro Wrestling video games, plus an awesome, one-of-a-kind trip for 2 ticket to ride the Good Year Blimp!!!! "Carson Mall" has always been epic to me, despite its competition: Del Amo Mall in Torrance. I remember rumors about Magic Johnson putting a movie theater at Carson Mall when I was a kid, but the rumors were shot down when they made a 2-story IKEA instead. 2-story IKEA, 1 story mall??? C'mon now!!! Nowadays, it's "The Southbay Pavillion"...filled with a bunch of mostly 90's babies/A.D.D./ADHD generation kids, teens and tweens giving up their virginities wayyy before the age of16 and the males wearing skinny jeans (DISCLAIMER: NOT ALL!!!!). *smh* DAMN, I FEEL OLD!!! LOL! This mall is still great to me though. If you're lucky, you can possibly bump into past/present Westcoast rappers like Ab Soul, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock and/or Kendrick Lamar (Once known as the group: Black Hippy), Bishop Lamont, Dr. Dre, Crooked-I, etc. Carson's my home....Carson Mall will forever be a nostalgic time machine to me. I haven't been in this little mall in maybe 20 years and it figures that the stores located in here would be sad, because the whole place is just pathetic. They really need to revamp this place for the local community. They could really use some better stores inside of here. Outside, it looks great. There are all kinds of restaurants like Panera, Olive Garden, and Five Guys and there's also a Forever 21, Target 24 hour Fitness, and IKEA. I stopped in here to pass a little time, because I thought it had been remodeled, but apparently it's still the same. In all my years, they have never had great stores, here. There is one exception and that the new movie theater. That's probably the best thing that they have going, there. For the life of me, I can't understand why there's hardly any parking outside, because not too many souls were in here. It seemed like people were there to eat at the outside dining choices or inside at the food court, in the shoe stores or getting their nails or eyebrows done. There is nothing wrong with the mall. It gets good foot traffic for the area and serves the purpose for the people who use it. Sure it doesn't have much in the way of store selection. It's book-ends are Sears and JC Penny's. It also has an Old Navy. It's on the small size, but what it does have seems to get used. It's not dirty or crime ridden, so I wouldn't call it ghetto. You'll find more punks hanging out at Del Amo Mall than you will here. Sure the reason is; there isn't anything interesting for them here, but that's a good thing. read more

I really want to give this place four stars.   REALLY DO.....but there is such a thing called integrity and believability.  Not unlike the much better known Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, the Pavillion has been undergoing a renovation  A recently opened Target now connects Ikea with the rest of the mall.  There's a Jamba Juice.  Sometime this month the new 24 Hour Fitness opens.  And a Coffee Bean Tea and Leaf is one of the new additions to the changing food court.   But then there's the rest of the mall.  Both the JC Penny and Sears are one of the smallest in their respective categories. I have not purchased any items in the stores in the mall.  At times, it reminds me of a forgotten wing in the Del Amo.  The numerous security guards make me nervous at times.   Given all this, I do remain hopeful for the future changes.  Now if only Trader Joes ever comes here.  Okay.....keep dreaming.Useful 3Funny 1Cool 3 read more

Went during the day on a Thursday and it wasn't crowded but it wasn't empty either. The place is clean and there's a lot of options for eating and shopping. It's a diverse crowd here. There's plenty of free parking and 4 Chargepoint EV charging stations that are a cheap rate. read more

I actually enjoyed our visit this weekend! The mall was just an easy 30-minute plus drive from Studio City and was off the 110 freeway and was quite easy to find. We had a booth at the Asian Trade Show and we were situated in the main hallway close to JC Penny and the food court. Parking was so easy and found 2 ATM and vending machines in both ends of this hallway which was really convenient. The anchor stores are Target, JC Penny, and Ikea and they had the usual staple stores of Forever 21, Old Navy, Sephora. Food stalls included Subway, Panda Express, Hotdog on a Stick, Jamba Juice and Yogurt Land. I particularly loved that the bathroom had a lounge too. The mall had ample seating areas all over too if wanted to take a break from shopping! read more

Very beautiful mall. I love how spacious it is. Plenty of parking and every store that's popular to public opinion.

I think this place, much like the Fox Hills Mall in the Culver City / Mar Vista area, has gone through some valiant attempts for a facelift to update the look and feel of the mall, as well as try to rid itself of the reputation of some of the clientele it has traditionally drawn. It used to feel like a neglected 'hood mall, but the addition of a nice Target department store, support of a well kept Ikea furniture store and the plethora of restaurants like Pieology, Chili's, Five Guys, Olive Garden, Wing Stop, Tony Roma's, Panera, etc. makes this a more appealing place to shop than it used to be. What they don't need here is a movie theater, as those tend to attract a bit of a crowd that distracts from an enjoyable shopping center experience at times. You'll notice most of the higher end malls don't have cineplexes within them. I've always been a speculative supporter of the City of Carson that has all of the potential to become a gentrified suburb that continues to improve. I hope the Southbay Pavilion becomes it's cornerstone shopping mecca representative of how wonderful and beautiful the area can be as a geographically desirable place for business owners to set up at. read more

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - 40/100. I came through primarily to catch a movie at Cinemark. Being it my first time, I decided to walk around hoping for some kinda bargain (although I didn't really have plans to shop, but you never know!) Typical mall of some sorts. There are some semi-interesting eateries and stores. My only issue here is that not only were they scattered, they aren't all within walking distance of each other. Gotta go outside for some (Pieology, Panera Bread, Sansai, etc...) and some aren't that close (Harbor Freight, Tony Roma's, Olive Garden, Smash Burger, Chipotle, etc...) So, if you plan on watching a movie and then grubbing, plan exactly where it is most convenient to park. My visit was during non-peak hours, so it's not like there was a crowd, but there were a few patrons nonetheless. For now, the theater is the sole reason I'd come back. They have really upgraded this mall. I remember walking in this place daily when I was a teenager, I grew up in Carson but it's definitely been upgraded since I last visited. They put the Wing Stop inside the mall. The added some good stores like bath and body works, old navy, Forever 21 and Fanzz. They also have a movie theater (Cinemark) now and it looked pretty nice. Looks like they are adding other things. I mean it's still small but more quality stores makes it worth the stop and shop. Also, the restrooms have a waiting area and it was super clean. My son had a smoothie and we were walking around before any stores opened he pulled his mask of to take a sip and immediately we were approached by security that he needed to go be seated somewhere else they have only about 5 tables we just went home this is why online will get sales and Amazon will kill your old brick and mortar stores. Hope she is unemployed by the end of year. They have a lot of places that give horrible customer service and chili Verde gave me some nasty food with no meat just disgusted with this boring place and the old movie seats wow upgrade those seats or give a discount how is that even right. I enjoyed a good visit to Southbay Pavilion, formerly known as Carson Mall. I went there for a meeting (they have meeting rooms on the second floor). When I couldn't find the meeting room, the woman I spoke to at the Guest services desk was very helpful. Every mall employee I encountered was courteous. The mall offerings are diverse, ranging from beauty salons to a $1 bookstore, Old Navy, JC Penney, and Jollibee. I had a good time browsing around the stores. There are also mall kiosks offering various products. There's even a Cash for Gold kiosk. Outside of the main mall are a Target, 24 Hour Fitness and many other shops. read more

I got the 3 beef taquitos (sp?) combo it was ok nothing to write home about lol i've pretty much have eaten at every place in the mall such as Panda Express, Jollibee, Hawaiian Food place, the Pizza place, Hot Dog on a stick, Great Steak, The hamburger place and of course Cinnabon, 31 flavors and Mrs Fields, my favorites are the pizza place, Panda, Jollibee and the burger place.
