This is the first review on Yelp. Part of this is venting my frustration with the lack of communication in order to purchase gift cards for families in need. Several of my original orders were cancelled when I ordered online, and did not receive notice of this until I checked my account. Thought since I needed to do some grocery shopping that I'd pick gift cards up and mail them out. I am first told I can purchase them in Customer service, but the person was so disinterested in making any service oriented service. She gives me this lecture of why she is not wanting to make the transaction thinking I was committing fraud! She asks a few questions and then reluctantly agrees. Around 2006, there was a store manager named Mark and assistant manager named Lisa. They were both wonderful and well liked by employees. Unfortunately, Lisa passed away unexpectedly and a tall, 40ish woman named Joyce took Lisa's place on graves. This lady was the worst assistant manager I ever encountered in my life. Even the US Army treated me better than this lowly-minded individual. The good people she fired and the worst reviews were intentionally delivered to good, hardworking individuals who she disliked. People like her with managerial positions make Walmart a lousy, if not unAmerican, place to work. Why do you think most of the hired employees speak ESL? Because they are more prone to talk less and work harder for minimum wage. 3/12/2020 - Front End Coach MARTHA needs to be put in a different position. I just saw Ms. Martha completely berate and yell at a cashier, after the cashier opened a lane to help an irate guest who had just yelled at her OVER JELLO. Not only was it uncomfortable for people in line to watch, being that she was so loud and obnoxious about it, Martha then proceeded to walk over to other employees and VERY OPENLY started to complain and speak negatively about this cashier. The first time I walked in here I thought I was in Kmart. The lighting and everything just looked exactly like the Kmart that was once at Colma. The store is pretty big, having a McDonald inside makes eating very convenient. I ended up buying my LCD TV from here. There are stuff here that I would not find at my local target store. However each time I come here, there is less and less things to buy. They really don't have that much new inventory, and just sell the more common stuff. read more

Eh, what can you say about Walmart? It's a large discount store. If you're looking for really high quality items, then this isn't the place for you. I come here about once every two months to stock up on various supplies - garbage bags, hair mousse, certain food items, and some medications. For some items, especially their store-brand medications, their prices are much better than places like CVS or Walgreens. Target's Up&Up line, however, is starting to be more price-competitive. This location recently underwent a remodel. Their electronics section has a more Target-like feel to it. The products, for the most part, are entry level to mid-range in price and quality. Don't go in with a shopping list of top-rated items from Consumer Reports, because you won't find them here. As part of the remodel, they expanded their food section. There are more choices in terms of fresh food. You can also find some really great deals on some items. For example, Swiss Miss hot cocoa is often just $1 for a box of ten; this can cost nearly $3 at regular grocery stores. Cereals are generally inexpensive, but when places like Safeway have specials then they will usually beat the Walmart price. The toy sections is decent, and you can find some pretty good bargains here (the Kung Zhu pets and accessories come to mind). Service at checkout is usually friendly, if not entirely efficient. Don't expect any help in the aisles, though. read more

Having worked in customer service, I understand that things can get busy and hectic. However, it seems that if someone is on the other end of the line, and perhaps with an slight accent, it's OK to put them on hold and hang up on them, multiple times. I'm not sure if it was all seasonals working on December 30th 2017 that evening, but even then, you don't have to be a full-time employee to be a decent human being. My significant other called around 8:30PM-9PM asking if a certain oil was in stock, since the website showed that it was available. However, after 30 minutes waiting for someone to pick up in the auto department, a lady stated she did not understand him, then refused to look up the item or take the item number. Following, without notice, he was put on hold and then she hung up. A few minutes later, my SO called again and asks a guy in the general Walmart store if he could look up the item. After providing the employee with the item number, he was put on hold and hung up on again. ARE YOU SERIOUS. As a side note, we were hoping to save time by calling the store to ask if a specific item was in stock to save us from a 1-1.5 hour drive. I've worked at ridiculous 24 hours pharmacies in the past and I don't see how the employees were not able to explain their situation or ask for a call back number. We ended up ordering the item from Amazon Prime (pray hands emoji). I empathize with Walmart employees as they do not get paid a living wage. Consequently, the company does not always attract the most ideal candidates. You would think that in Mountain View, there would be people who are somewhat qualified or would at least attempt to help. In the past, I heard that Walmart was an ideal company to work for because of the CEO's values and mission, but in more recent years its morals and ethics has crumbled. As an FYI, I have provided compliments to Walmart employees in the past via their customer service page. So I go in first thing in the morning to pick up a few things and at the end of the isle are memory foam beds advertised for $129. There were different sizes from twin to full on the rack and at the end of the isle next to it, had 3 more, a twin a full and a queen. One would think that all of them were 129 giving the fact that there were no bar codes for each bed or specified the price for each bed. We have a queen size bed so of course we grab the queen. We go to check out and it comes up $229. No I'm sorry but it was advertised as $129. I want it for 129. The cashier, Linda who was nice got assistance. Cindy....who I will attach a picture later, said that she couldn't give me the 100 dollar difference and that she would have to get management. I over heard her talking to Hannah who was a manager wearing a white polo shirt whom I didnt yer a pic of because she was nowhere to be seen, stating she was going to deny my request of getting the advertised price. I walked up and said "why are you not going to sell me the item for the price you advertised it for." She said the display is wrong. She didnt even go look at it and I said let's go look at it. The manager followed me and looked at the display and stated that because the mattress was on the other shelf that it's a different price. So I said then the twin and full will be different prices??? She said no same price as 129. I said that doesn't make sence.....I mean comment below if that makes sense to you and try to help me understand will ya. So anyway I said so you have the same product in two different places in the store, you can charge 2 different prices for them then? That doesn't make sense. And the box was open and I told her, "what makes you think this wasn't on that shelf and it was moved by someone else before I got it? Righr?!?!? She left me there with no one else coming to help. So I called cooperate..... Cooperate explained to me that the manager has the final say on the price and therefore do not have to honor the advertised price!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! she did offer to give me $50 off.....or wait....get this....she said shes give me a full for 129.....BWHAHAHHAHAH why would I buy a full Hannah when my bed is a Queen???? Just shows you the mentality this manager has and why this store is only 2 stars. So I will be getting a phone call from cooperate but because the "People of walmart" screwed up....doesn't matter.....no accountability. If they want to jack up the price they obviously can. Walmart is so confusing. I ordered something on black Friday and selected curbside pick up. After a few days, I got an email telling me the item was ready and to park in a certain spot then they'll bring the item out and load it in my car. So I did that but apparently this Walmart doesn't do curbside pickup. I went to the pickup area but it was for grocery only. Even worse, when I got to the pick up spot, there's phone number to call to check in but when I called it, no one picked up. I called the store directly and selected the "pick up" option and still no answer. Only when a worker came out was I able to ask him that I was here for pick up and that's when I found out it was impossible to get my item via curbside pick up. I was so mad that I had to go in because there was a super long line. At least the worker told me I could skip the line by telling security I just needed to pick up an item. So I drove back to the front to park. I went to the front and told security I was here for pick up. Another security personnel was yelling at me to get to the back of the line but he wasn't really enforcing it. The security nearest me didn't say anything so I just walked in. At least pick up was quick and straight-forward. I learned my lesson. Never do curbside pick up from Walmart (granted if they even offer it). Their website and app is confusing and even the workers were confused why the email sent me to do curbside pick up at the grocery location. I've never had an issue at other stores (i.e. target, best buy, sprouts, whole foods, etc). read more

Walmart was no longer trying to limit the number of customers going inside during this COVID 19 time. I could barely pass people without almost brushing against them. I decided this was an extreme health risk and got out of the store asap. Wow, why isn't Walmart trying to keep customers and employees safe? At least, the employees and customers all seem to be wearing masks, but way too many people massed together to feel safe!! And, this store feels a bit dirty and trashy. You will be even less likely to escape without feeling burdened by the future of America. Yes, it is probable that you will be able to find what you want at an extremely inexpensive price. Yes, I will always come here for my peanut butter (Adam's, it comes in massive quantities for super cheap). And their kosher foods section is fairly well stocked. But it's a good thing the peanut butter comes so huge, and that Target is apparently non-secular enough not to stock Chanukah candles... I otherwise avoid this place at all costs. If you can get it anywhere else, do. Escape the blue, the massive shopping carts, the children with mullets. While they have a new eye doctor on duty, everything else from the helpfulness, friendliness, and speed from the staff of workers remains the same. Doctor Simon Lai is the new optometrist at this location. Similar to the previous optometrist, he is very friendly, patient, and is willing to listen to your questions and concerns. Regarding eye exams, the price is still a flat fee of $58, which is a good deal. Call ahead of time to make sure they accept your insurance at this location. I noticed that they hired a couple more employees since my last visit, which allowed me to get in and out of the office rather quickly. As I mentioned in my previous review, if you're looking for good customer service from experienced professionals, and you don't want to spend a lot of money, then this is the place for you. read more

First off, I don't like the idea of shopping at Walmart at all. I have only ever gone inside to look for collectibles and comic books which were released only at Walmart. That is literally the only reason I ever WANT to go inside a Walmart. That being said, this Walmart is not only terrible in customer service, but also probably the worst Walmart in America if you're a collector looking to find the Walmart exclusives in any collectible figure/comic book categories. I went today to find the AEW Unrivaled series action figures because they were released last week and supposedly all the stores would have them in stock this week. I looked around, and no surprise they weren't there nor was the display for them present. I asked two people about them and to see when they'd come in; the first employee said he wasn't trained in inventory lookups and had an unknowing expression, and the 2nd employee in the section I was pointed to for help told me flat out that they can't look up incoming inventories especially on items that are labeled "unavailable for in-store pickup", which the Unrivaled Series Kenny Omega (the figure I had up on the Walmart search to ask employees with) was labeled as. This was probably the final experience that told me that Walmart employees just can't be bothered to help any customers looking for specific items and they don't seem to know what specific toys/collectibles/comic books they have. I've tried before in the past looking for Walmart exclusives in funko pops (Which this Walmart has never had in stock, and I've looked all over the store for them), and I eventually gave up on them. The most recent thing I tried to look for before the AEW Unrivaled figure collection were the Issue #1's of the Allegiance Arts comics that were release 2 months ago (that I heard about through Comicsgate YouTuber Richard C Meyer, who said he got his in his Texas Walmart). I tried a couple of times to find the display but the comic books weren't available nor was the end cap display that all stores were supposed to have. This was infuriating and I gave up when I had looked up Allegiance Arts on their website and in the list of Walmart that carry them, this Walmart wasn't on the list. And both with the funko pops and the Allegiance Arts comics, the employees had no idea what I was talking about, even when I showed them the Walmart website pages that had each of the products. This failure with the AEW Unrivaled set is the last straw. I'm frustrated that the only Walmart I can drive to doesn't have the collectible exclusives that I'm looking for. Why is this Walmart so different from all the other Walmarts in California or in other states? It's like this Walmart only carries the bare minimum of items (their regular toy aisles are abysmal so parents shouldn't shop for their children here). I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this Walmart gets the shaft as far as Walmart exclusives go because I remember back before this one opened that Santa Clara County and Silicon Valley officials and public interest groups had protested this Walmart for a long time due to Walmart's reputation for driving nearby companies out of business. So maybe there are many sanctions on this Walmart that prevent exclusive collectibles and books from showing up. That being said, it sucks and it makes the appeal of shopping in-store at a Walmart pointless because again I only shop for these collectibles. At this point I may as well only do Walmart online for delivery or try my luck with the flippers on Mercari/Ebay or elsewhere. Beyond frustrated at the amount of gas I wasted trying this Walmart to get only a handful of items I can't get in other stores. AEW and Allegiance Arts should have made deals with Target or another company to release their respective exclusive items there instead of trust Walmart. If you want to be harassed, followed in the store and accused of stealin, this is your store! LP blocked me from exiting along with his manager after the LP was following me while I shopped. Both claimed "All this sh!t isn't paid for" And physically grabbed the shopping cart and moved it away from the exit and told me "You're not leaving!" Words were exchanged and once the LP verified that in fact everything was paid for, he said I was now free to leave. He disappeared so quickly so I stayed even longer arguing with his manager Erick who also accused me. Waiting over an hour for the store manager Reynaldo to show up to customer service as team lead Mayur confirmed he was in the buildin. Reynardo, the store manager never showed up. I filed an incident report with Mountain View PD and filed a report with corporate. The store manager had 3 business days to call me back. He never did. It's been escalated to the ethics department of Walmart corporate where they dropped the ball and closed my case as if it was resolved. After many more phones calls, Walmart corporate reopened the case and here I am awaiting another phone call. This store is a joke. Loss Prevention here is a joke. The store manager is a joke. The parking lot is a good size but it's constantly full of people waiting for others to load up their car and drive off so they can have their spot despite being just as good a spot 20 feet away... I've been to this Walmart dozens of times. It's what you'd expect being Walmart. It's not Target. Anyways, I bought 12 items for $66 tonight from the sporting goods section. I needed a salesperson to help me. There was a guy in front of me who took 10-15 minutes while I waited. Then when it's my turn, the clerk Terry helps the guy BEHIND me get a flashlight and then disappears. When he comes back and I demand an explanation, he said he had to go to the bathroom. I said, no problem, just tell me, go the bathroom and help me next instead of HELPING THE GUY BEHIND ME get a flashlight, then use the bathroom, and then come back to help me. This is really unacceptable and there's no reason to do this. First come first served right? Any excuse? Hmmm, racism is the only explanation that makes sense here. I've shopped at many Walmarts before but this Walmart in particular is not a great shopping experience. Looking for fruits and vegetables? Forget about it. The produce section at this Walmart is typically under-stocked and has very limited selections. So you can count on arriving and not being able to buy the milk or fruits that you like. Additionally, unless you are doing self-check out, you can count on the cashier lines to be long. Moreover, parking isn't great so expect a trek to your car. My belief is this store attracts customers for one reason --low prices. There are a lot of alternative discount retailers in the area and I have shopped at many of them; however, in my experience, none of them can beat Walmart on prices. read more

The amount of selection in this store is amazing, but you have to wade through a mess of merchandise and people to find what you want. Outside of the check stand, I barely saw any employees available to help. Perhaps they were gobbled up by the hoards of people in the store. Yes, service is poor, bad location, gross experience. And don't get me started on walmart corporation. BUT, if you live close enough and are willing to get there before 9am, you can avoid the crowd. If you know exactly what you want you can get in and out. Prices are invariably cheaper than the target across the street, and certain things (like huggies supreme size 5) are more likely to be in stock. First off, the parking sucks here but no surprise to me since it's like that at almost every Walmart location. I thought this place was okay. I drove down here on my lunch break to look at memory card readers. It's probably just me that I wanted to go all the way out here for that because there's other places that will have better selections which were closer to my work. I didn't really look around because I went directly to the electronics area. This particular location doesn't have a big electronics area. I didn't see a lot to choose from so I left. The employee working there didn't seem like he wanted to help which was fine since I found the area for the memory card readers. I stopped by the McDonald's inside because I was already nearing the end of my lunch break; in addition, I still had to drive back.
