This is an interesting store located on Castro street , Mountain View. It is called " Therapy Stores " because it carries so many cute items that would made you smile I love the painted shells , mini ceramic vases and trays . This was a fun store to peruse through in downtown Mountain View. It's surprisingly a NorCal only franchise of small stores selling gifts, accessories, and other small knick knacks. It's probably the best bet to get a gift that is cute and unique but you want it to lean more towards being western and not too kawaii and anime. Think of gifting a punny keychain or cute Jellycat versus a Chiikawa plushie or anime acrylic if that makes sense. Meaning that it's probably easier and maybe more acceptable to get a slightly more normie a gift here than it is elsewhere. As you can see, I'm learning what it's like to touch grass and re-integrate into human society. There's a good number of plushies, Jellycat and unique ones like a pink fairy armadillo mole one, tote bags and socks, nice range of jewelry, lots of California themed goods if you're looking for souvenirs that aren't mega generic, and they have a lot of other items as well. As with the quality and high regard some of these items have (Jellycats are NOT cheap), it can be a bit pricier, so make sure that you shop around and check prices elsewhere and that you actually truly care about the person you're getting stuff for and it's not a forced obligation one (family member you're ugh with or coworker Secret Santa that you barely know). Maybe a couple cute things I had my eye on, but it wasn't really for me (speaks volumes about me), but I can see how a store like this works in a pinch if you're gift shopping. read more

"$35 for a pair of socks? What kind of therapy is that?" Lol--this quote from one of my favorite people as we were checking out Therapy Store. It's a pretty funny name for a gift shop. Honestly, everything in this store feels like something I'd buy for others--perfect for birthdays/Christmas, that are quirky & thoughtful. I didn't find anything particularly therapeutic about it (I'm not really a shopaholic), but it was definitely fun to browse. Every space is filled with items--books, toys, Christmas ornaments, clothes, accessories, and costume jewelry--for all ages. Prices vary depending on what you're eyeing: brown wool socks for $35, a cookbook for $40, a hair clip for $15, a sweater for $80... it really depends. I can't speak on the service because I'm not sure we interacted at all. Overall, it is a fun place to check out, and it can get pretty busy. read more

While this is a cute store that really has some fun gems, I'm going to share my experience as a warning. The cutesy stickers that I bought were not worth the fiasco that I experienced. Therapy Stores enforces a no outside food or drink policy, and asks customers to leave their drinks by the door. I was hesitant to do this because I will notoriously forget that I had a drink in the first place, but I complied when a staff member asked me to. Unfortunately, I should have seen the sign and turned straight around. Because as I expected, I forgot my drink and didn't remember until I was driving away. Therapy Stores is located in a pedestrian only area of Mountain View, and parking is usually several blocks away and packed. While trying to navigate back to an area closer to the store, I had to cross Alma, from which there is no access back to Castro without going entirely out of my way. Basically, I had to make an entire extra trip just to get my drink back. Parking was just as slammed as before, and I had to leave my flashers on while I ran in to get my drink. The bottom line is, the business should either have a posted "you break it, you buy it" sign, or understand that this policy will drive customers away, especially since the store is located nearby dozens of restaurants, cafes, and eateries. That being said, there are some great reads, beautiful cards, and various gifts that can be considered great finds. I appreciate the concept, but not the execution. read more

They have cute, carefully CURATED products. I purchased a red umbrella for myself & I was happy to, as I actually heart rainy weather. They have a bunch of umbrellas whose handles/holders are shaped like duck HEADs... with artificial eyes and wooden beaks attached! But not their body parts below their necks. Very ENdearing! You get to hold ON to their necks, I guess... Actually sort of morbid if you think about it... It might have been a pleasant experience and actually a therapeutic one, if the cashier girl with LA vendor hair didn't try to suggest to another man at/browsing at the store that-- I work at CVS, the PHARMACY. I don't work at CVS. I never have. It was very disturbing to recognise this. Regardless of how cute their stuff is, I will not be shopping at this store. She was being predatory and/or at least being complicit, by attempting to suggest to another man that I work somewhere that I don't. Such activities could be related to human trafficking, which I always report. read more

The girl at the counter was super friendly and got me the one I wanted even though it was in the stores window display. Therapy is such a fun store to browse! They have a couple of locations in the Bay Area. They have a lot of fun doodads and gifts that you can get here. I think it's a good store to pop in if you got a free hour and/or if you need a gift for someone immediately. They have a lot of things like: toys, plushies, jewelry, books, backpacks, candles etc. I've bought a candle before and I think a towel one time. I almost had to ask my friends to intervene because I could never leave Therapy without 1-2 pairs of earrings. When I lived walking distance in Mountain View, I would visit weekly. Staff are always so friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy working there and helping you. It's always such a positive experience coming in. This is our go-to place for gifts. I've found gifts for friends, parents, partners and coworkers over the years. They always have such a unique selection and variety of items - I always leave with either earrings, artwork, a new book or candle. It's not the cheapest, especially when it comes to clothing, but I've found some great clothes in their sale rack. But the items I've bought myself from Therapy are still some of my most prized possessions. Can't wait til the next time I pop in (which will be soon). read more

I enjoy going to Therapy Stores because they have so many unique things! It's super fun to just browse. Living so close, sometimes I go on a walk and end up here. They sell a variety of knick knacks, jewelry, and clothes. The service is awesome. The workers are super friendly and will help you find what you're looking for in your size if it's not available at their location. I love dainty jewelry and they have a lot of options for that too. I picked up a super cute dress the other day and am in love!! It is a little pricey, but the quality of the things they sell are great in comparison to what other places have. I came here in late November 2020 on a weekend night. They do a good job of making sure they are adhering to COVID practices, and have a sign that limits the number of customers inside to 5-6 max. It does get a bit confusing though because the employees don't come out to tell you to go in. Regardless...service here is extremely friendly! I was coming here to shop for some local goods, and sadly the options were a bit more limited than I had imagined. Mostly the soaps/candles/cards are local, and everything else they carry is bougie brands. I was walking around Castro St and randomly came across Therapy Stores. I meant for my stop to be a quick trip, but I ended up spending a long time browsing around because of all the fun novelties. You know how Urban Outfitters have a books/home decor section of their stores? Therapy Stores is exactly like that except on steroids. This section is my favorite part of Urban Outfitters anyway, so naturally I fell in love with Therapy Stores. I found that the overall vibe and sense of humor of the place made it a Millennial/Gen Z dream store. However, I'm not saying that the store isn't for everyone. it totally has something of interest for people of any age. The store carries crystals, plants, clothing, jewelry, books, journals, unique cards, candles, local artist crafts, etc. I found things my parents would get a kick out of, and there were items for babies and kids. This store has something for most people. The jewelry selection is amazing--I love that there are large and small earrings so that I can get what I want and what friends or family love, too. I have found some amazing clothing here, and I also find it difficult to shop the packed racks. Most of the clothing trends toward younger, and, I can find great clothing there, too. The gift selection is stellar. It's easy to get something for the foodie, the self carer, the sock lover, the reader, the new age enthusiast, the artist, and plenty of prank gifts and sweet gifts for the babies. Cute novelty boutiques are, hands down, my favorite types of shops. Every time I come to the Bay Area, I HAVE to visit Therapy. I either go to this location or the one in downtown Campbell. Both locations are great and have something for everyone! They have so much cute stuff made by small shops/local artisans. The stuff is organized by theme/category, like plants, food, drinks, cards, jewelry, kids, clothing, etc. I've bought so many different things from these stores, from pins, to Hydroflasks, to stationery, to dish towels, to clothing, and I always find something I like every time I visit. My mom loves their clothes and has bought several coats from here. Everyone who works here is also super helpful and friendly! I was perusing through their dish towel section (I'm obsessed with the Geometry towels they sell here), and the sales associate showed me another area where they had even more towels for me to look through! This store always has good music and pleasant people working. Their cards are so cute and cover so many different types of occasions. Recently went in to purchase some gifts for a friends birthday and we left with everything we needed, minus the wrapping paper. We purchased the card, a tote bag, a magnet, few wine forward gifts and some of those cute little mimosa flavor cubes! As far as value: it's kind of all over the place. Some things are priced high and some are less than expected. I've been shopping here for years. My Mountain View local bestie brought me here and I consider it a gem. I've had so many great finds. It's funny because even when I'm thrifting at stores along the Peninsula, I always end up here, no matter the higher prices (than thrifting, I do find the clothes reasonably priced). I most recently went to find some dresses for my upcoming 40th birthday trip to Hawaii and found three dresses and two (non-Hawaii related) lightweight sweaters. My daughter and niece were with me and each found something they loved too. The staff is so helpful and always seem to have recommendations if something isn't quite what I was hoping. Cute store in Mountain View. Some very unique products here that you're not likely to find anywhere else. This store reminds me of Anthropologie. I saw a sweater here that I was tempted to buy but it was $120 for something made in China? I've spent $100 for sweaters made in the US (L.L. Bean makes their sweaters in Maine and Lands End makes their sweaters in Wisconsin). I've spent $125 on a Patagonia jacket made in China but that was super-warm for winter hiking I did buy one thing here for $25. The Tule Fog Sea and Lavender reed diffuser for my bathroom. I think this store is very cute. I can see myself buying a few things in here if I was feeling rich or wanting to treat myself. It kinda reminded me of Wishbones in SF, but not as big, and not as much stuff. They do have some Paul Frank stuff. I wanted some of their cute packaged lip balm stick but I just bought a bunch at Target so didn't need anymore and at $5-$6 for a lip balm stick I passed.
