I would give 0 stars if I could. Supporting local small businesses is important to me. I used to buy and consign at Repeter with the previous owner. Millie and Eric (new owners) are horrible. Customer service and communication are unbelievably bad. Why are they so irritated with the customers? Recently, I consigned a designer dress. After I dropped off the item. I never heard back from Millie. They never answered the phone so I always had to come by in person to check the status. She was rude and seemed annoyed to see me. She never sent me an email about the item status, which is why over 6 months, I visited the store 4-5 times. I frankly dreaded visiting. One day, when I dropped by the store, she said she sold the dress, but it took 2 months of repeated visits to get my check. I decided to give her store another try. Eric curtly said to leave the item and they would get back to me. During the entire exchange, he never looked at me and even left to go to the back room while I was talking. Teens at boba shops have better manners. I retrieved my item and donated my designer item, where they were genuinely grateful. I will never buy or consign at Repeter. I would rather consign at the RealReal or Fillmore and Fifth. Better yet, donate to the Salvation Army where the workers really appreciate your donation! read more

The store is very nice, seems to have a good selections, and the prices seem fair, but today I had a very unpleasant experience. On my day off work today my wife asked me to bring in some designer bags and watches she wanted to find a new home for, so I stopped by around noon. The employee was super nice and explained the process to me and took the items to be consigned. At 2:30 I get a call from the manager/owner telling me they can't take my items. Her reasoning was that they 1) only take new clients on Tuesdays, and 2) are only taking fall items (though the employee told me the accessories I brought aren't seasonal and wouldn't be a problem) and 3) any watches have to have new batteries in them. I suppose that's fair, although strict and like some basic info that should've been told to me up front. But miscommunications happen; no big deal. The owner/manager did apologize for the inconvenience, but then immediately tells me I needed to pick up my things TODAY. I told her I couldn't, and probably couldn't until the weekend, and she replied in a very irritated tone something like "I guess I can hold onto your items until the end of the weekend." ....like she's going to get rid of them if I don't pick them up in the next couple days? Maybe I'm crazy, but if a store miscommunicates and makes an error that puts me out, I feel like they shouldn't take a rude tone and be demanding of me. read more

I have been a consignor here for years but the owner has made it such a hassle to consign clothes and get paid for them. There are so many more convenient ways to consign clothes now. My recent experience (you have to call in advance to get a check, but if it's less than $100 you can be paid in cash) the clerk unapologetically told me "sorry, I don't have any cash so you'll have to come back" was the last straw. Goodwill is better. Junky choices and overpriced. They had a clearly used pair of lululemons for $65. You can get new lulus for $65 and up. No way am I paying $65 for old used ones. The other stuff was just kinda grandma-y and junky. Won't be back unfortunately read more

Was excited to try out this new place in Menlo Park. Dropped off items for review as I told owner was in once a week. Never heard back from anyone in a week and a half. Finally got ahold of owner and she emailed an agreement to me to read. The very next morning I had an irate message asking that I pick up my clothes as I had not responded to her email. She wanted items picked up that day. Had to practically beg her to afford me the courtesy that I had afforded her in getting back a quote to me as I was traveling out of the country that day. If you ask me, this woman has no patience and her quoted prices were far too low to leave my designer items there. She came in at half the price as other people. Consign elsewhere! read more

This is a fantastic shop. She has wonderful finds. Often I can find my favorite brand jeans. And I can buy them for sure for a fraction of what they cost retail. I had such a great first experience here. It's a small store with a surprising quantity packed in (but not to the point where it's hard to browse through the racks). Great quality and discounts offered (most of my finds were 20% or 50% off). The customer service (both the owner, Millie, and an employee, Sia?) was by far the best I've had at a consignment- friendly and attentive but not pushy. I really liked Repeter. The service was incredibly friendly and kind as I browsed for work attire. The selection was smaller, but higher quality and depending on the piece was only slightly on the higher priced side or worth splurging on if it fit and looked fantastic. The dressing rooms were a bit cramped and could do with a slight increase in size. I'm a smaller person and I felt a bit uncomfortable, but beyond that my experience was quite nice. Due to the price and the distance from me, I would come back but signed up for their email list since I probably wouldn't seek it out unless I knew there was a sale. Their style choices are right up my alley and I loved the boutique feel. However what makes Main Street Rags in Walnut Creek my consistent first choice and worth the hour plus drive is their weekly 50% off sale, so if they have something similar I'd probably become a loyal customer :D read more

*2.5 STARS* I visited this store a few weeks ago and was pretty disappointed. I admit that the clothes and jewelry are very cute and in very good condition and the layout of the store is adorable and creative. I will admit that... However, this is still a *consignment* store so I was pretty shocked by their prices. Banana republic tops for $30? That's how much they would be on sale, NEW at BR. There was one top I liked that had no name brand and it was priced at $28! If I had gone to Crossroads and found the same top, it wouldn't have been more than $14. Also, the owner was actually pretty cold towards my friend and I, which was also surprising since everyone who left reviews said she was very friendly. We came in to sell a few items. I understand that they are picky and look over things thoroughly for quality but the way she inspected our stuff was almost snobby. We only brought in two or three items to sell and she just shrugged and said, "Yeah, I guess I'll take that," as if she didn't care whether she received our business or not. When she told me how much she wanted to price my dress at, I was appalled. She explained that they sold items at 40% of their original price which is LIE because before I left the store I saw a Forth and Towne dress with its original price tag ($148) and the Repeter consignment tag said $74! I said nevermind and chose not to sell my dress there. It sold on eBay for double what she offered me. Not sure if I would come back here based on their prices or their customer service... read more

The first time I walked into Repeter, I thougt the owner did a nice job with making the store seem more like a boutique. The assistant was very nice, and the store seemed to have a well-edited selection of higher-end clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories. However with each consecutive visit, my opinion of this store dropped lower and lower. Problem #1. Poor customer service. I usually try to make it a point to talk to the salespeople and get to know them, and I would hope that if I'm making regular appearances in their store, they would remember me. Unfortunately, the same salesperson who I met the first time treated me a second-class citizen after I accidentally knocked over a display of purses with my coat. I tried to put them back, but they kept falling over. Instead of smiling and saying something like, "That's alright. I can take care of it. Please continue shopping," or something like that, she told me in a very cold tone to just leave it, and here, did she want me to put the items I was carrying in the dressing room before i knocked anything else over? Problem #2. Poor consigner experience. Prior to my negative experience as a customer I actually opened an account with Repeter to consign with them. The owner prefers to communicate by e-mail. There wasn't any attempt to build a relationship with me as a consigner. I called after the allotted time to see which items sold and which didn't. I arranged ahead of time to pick up the items that didn't sell, but when I got to the store, they were still on the floor. I had to walk around and pick up all the items that didn't sell. Problem #3. Focus on labels and not wearability. After visiting other consignment stores in the Bay Area, I realized that the reason why I often try things on but don't buy (which I'm sure annoys the salesperson) is because they are paying more attention to the label and not the woman who would shop at their store. many of the items are either too trendy, not figure flattering, and simply not classic enough to appeal to the wide demographic they appear to be targeting (woman). For these reasons I no longer choose to patronize this business. read more

I've consigned with Repeter about twice now. My first experience was pretty pleasant as the owner called me a few days after dropping my items to let me know that she'll take all of them and also inquired about the pricing. Unfortunately, my stuff didn't sell a well as I had hoped for so I was asked to come by to pickup (after I called to inquire about the status). To my surprise, when I was there to collect my dresses, they were randomly stashed in a huge box with other unsold items. Now I understand it's a 2nd hand store, but don't treat my dresses like it's trash already! But I did chalk it up as probably a slight hiccup b/c they have too many unsold items. Since then, I've met with owner in person and she definitely was not the same as she was over the phone. LIke others have said, there was a bit of an attitude. I can accept that certain styles may not match her vision for her store, but the tone of voice was slightly hard to swallow. On the contrary, the people that work there has been very pleasant for both my purchasing and selling experience. They were helpful in collecting my items for owners to examine later, as well as answering any questions I had when purchasing an item. I still have many unworn items I'd like to consign, but I do have second thoughts about returning. read more

3.5 stars - what a nice consignment store (one of many in downtown Los Altos!), not too big and a nice selection. The decor is very nice and doesn't feel/look like a consignment store (no old or used clothes smell). It was hot and my feet hurted...so I really wanted to find something to change into. I found couple pairs of shoes under $20 each. On the way out, found a really cute top for less than $10. While looking at the purses, the lady next to me (must be a regular there) said the purses on this side are reproduction as reflected by the price but check out the real ones on the other side... The sales person (I think she may be the owner) was very nice...I am looking forward to coming back. read more

Another awesome pair of jeans found here. I will NEVER buy expensive jeans anywhere else! Granted , it can be hit or miss, but if you come every few months, you're bound to to find a great pair. Several reviewers complain about the owner being rude, but I have NEVER encountered that. She remembers me, (even when it's been months since she's seen me. A lot of times when i come in there's someone else working.) I've been to many resale shops, vintage stores and thrift shops. The prices here may be a bit higher, but the clothing is in much better quality than many of the other places I've been. I've also sold some items here, and while i don't love their policy, I understand that it's a small business and they have to do what's best for them. read more

This place is my double edge sword. I have sold some purses and sweaters here and I have bought some things here. That is the problem! I sell, then buy. This was a great place for me to sell my stuff, but a bad place because they have so much stuff to buy...but really nice stuff. They carry all kinds of brands from high end to Target. They are very straight forward and are pickier than some Consignment places when choosing what they will put in their store simply because they know what will sell. I try to sell more than I buy because I'm downsizing. It kinda doesn't work here. Straightforward on the selling. They have certain times they will look at your stuff. They only take things in very good condition. You need to be a bit proactive and call when you sell. I lost a pair of Coach sunglasses and they called to tell me they were in the bag and weren't sure if I wanted to consign them. Thank god. That earned an extra star for honesty and integrity in my book. read more

I love Kellee (the owner) and Repeter... I've been consigning and buying here for a couple years now. Kellee does have a certain aloof quality that one might construe as cold, but she's organized (I get my inventory on my email), is right on with what will sell, and I admire her eye for fashion and design. I think she's great. Her store is more eclectic boutique than tacky consignment store. A wide range of my stuff has sold here: from BCBG, Loft, Gap, Caslon, 9 West -- mostly middle of the road fashion. I don't make a fortune here, but it's more than I get at a garage sale. I've also purchased some darling jackets and scarves here for under $30.00 -- good deals. I know she only accepts my quality clothing and accessories for a reason. My new favorite place. I had the best experience at this store. I visited other consignment stores within downtown Los Altos and this is definitely more my style. Cute little shop, great job in displaying the clothes and accessories, and lots of great consignment items. Prices still aren't as cheap as one one expect, however they're a lot cheaper than paying full price and the items are in such good shape that they're almost like new so I can't really complain. I'll definitely be coming here whenever I need a lunch break and need to let off some steam by shopping. read more

Horrible customer service for consigning clothing. I never got a cent from them, and they mysteriously couldn't find my clothing that didn't sell when I came to collect my items at the end of my consignment term. They in essence stole my consigned clothing. Never returned my phone calls, so every time I needed to interact with them, I had to physically drive to the store. Would never consign with Repeter again - try Filmore & 5th for an honest and professional consignment experience instead. read more

I've had my reservations going into consignment stores not because they sell second-hand clothes but because I do not have the patience to weed through hundreds of garments which are normally dis-organized and looked "used." Unlike this aformentioned description, repeter does not fit that bill. They may sell used clothes but they do so with flair. Owners Kellee and Kara do a fine job displaying their clothing and accessories in a boutique style atmosphere with a keen eye for a la mode and brand name clothes. I enjoy my time in this shop chatting with kellee and seeing what's new. I suggest you do the same. read more

I have been consigning with Repeter for about two years now and I have had a consistently good experience. When I drop off my items, Millie is usually able to look at them right away to make a selection, which saves me having to make an extra trip to pick up the things she doesn't take. Then, Millie lets me know when I can expect an email with the prices she would like to set for each piece. (She does not put anything on the sales floor until the consignor has agreed to the prices.) I have always received these emails on time and I've never had an issue with Millie's pricing. I agree with another reviewer that the biggest challenge is not making any purchases while Millie is looking over my things! I usually walk out the door with one or two new additions to my wardrobe :) read more

Repeter is one of my favorite stores in the Bay Area! I am an extremely picky shopper, but always find lots to buy there. Items are all beautiful, good quality, and they are very selective about what they carry so it's not difficult. It is the antithesis of other resale stores. I've been a customer of Repeter for more than 6 years. It was a wonderful find back then, and the quality, selection and style has only gotten better. Visiting Repeter is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, which is a combination of the stylish, high quality merchandise, and the personality of the owner. Kellee owns the store and is responsible for the selection of clothing, shoes and purses. She looks for items that are trendy and in new condition - some items appear to never have been worn, and others still have their tags. i have gotten to know Kellee over the years, and in addition to having excellent taste, she has a wonderful ability to make her customers feel valued. She knows many of her customers by name and will give honest advice about a clothing choice if asked. I have bought things on her advice that I wouldn't have usually tried on, and received compliments every time I have worn the piece. Equally, she will say if something doesn't work, but she doesn't offer advice unless asked - shopping can be a completely personal experience. Kellee wants her customers to love their clothes and love shopping at her store, and is more concerned with a satisfied customer who wants to return, than making a single sale. This consignment shop has been one of my favorites in the Bay Area ! I have been visiting this shop since the original owner Kelly first opened a few years back . Now it has been taken over by a delightful young woman by the name of Milly and she is such a wonderful person to work with . I not only buy clothes here but I consign with Milly and she is fair., knows her brands and keeps the shop well stocked and varied . She changes and adds items frequently, so it is always good to stop by and see what new goodies she has acquired ! I highly recommend Repeter for anyone who is into consignment shopping ... this includes not only name brand clothing ( vintage as well as up to date styles) but shoes ( lots of Laboutin, Jimmy choo, etc) and jewelry too! I was looking to sell some of my old items for credit, and came across this nearby boutique in Downtown Los Altos. I learned that they were consignment and instead of trade, I would receive cash- 40% of the ticketed price- but only when the items would sell. This is pretty standard with other consignment stores I have visited. The disappointment was the price tags when I decided to browse while waiting for the associate to look through my items. The sales rack was 50% off the original price, many of which where marked at $148 for a dress or $48 for a blouse. Mind you, these items are used! This is more than I would generally pay for new items. The associate was able to take 3 of my items- a blouse (which I may have thrifted from somewhere else and have had for years), a pair of yellow H&M jeans, and a pair of earrings from Forever 21. When I asked her what the items would sell for, she recognized that they were not designer, so I expected her to quote a low price. She the proceeded to tell me, "$28 for the top, $20 for the jeans, and $16 for the earrings." This was shocking to me, as those were probably a collective $38 to begin with when they were brand new! Rent must be REALLY expensive in Downtown Los Altos- there were no customers, and although their items are good brands and quality, not sure who is buying to keep the place open. read more
