One of those moments when you are hesitant to enter and you friend convince to go inside and take a look. The reason of my doubtfulness to get into the store was fear. Fear that it was a too posh store for me and it would look weird to just say the classic 'just browsing today'. What a great surprise to find out that The Shop is, actually, a thrift shop. Posh, but second hand clothes at really good prices. Everything in the store is impecable, clean, well organized by colors and styles and in great state. I got 2 great deals that look simply fantastic on me (will post pics of that soon:). Got a jacket from Max Mara for just $20, very chic and fitting and another dark brown corduroy blazer for just $15 of no name brand but equally super fitting and flattering. I was beyond happy when I left the store. This is not your casual Salvation Army, this is high end stuff well taken care of at great prices (even the high brand with higher prices were not very expensive).

Such a lovely store. Not jammed pack and some of the nicest lady volunteers I've had.

My sweetie took me here a while back. The store owner was friendly and attentive. However, I saw…read moreso much stuff in this little tiny store. It was clutters of stuff and we were the only customers there at the time. To be honest, some of the stuff there probably should be just thrown away like worn out shoes and books in a shed that probably has mildew on them. Each time I did find something to buy, the owner kept on checking on her phone for a similar item's price. Apparently, most prices here are not set and the owner decides once the customer asks. I saw some hats I liked in a box marked $2 each, she told me that only some of the hats were that price. I found a kid's sweater that was from the 1990s and showed wear, she wanted $10 for it because it was apparently designer. Seriously?!? Also my sweetie wanted to buy a doll for his mother for mother's day and again the store owner had to compare pricing for it online. She gave him a price but would not budge on the price, my sweetie and I debated about it...was it worth it? Could we find another collectible doll at a different thrift store for less? Well my sweetie ended up buying it. His mom loved it. But we both think there are better deals elsewhere. I also have a feeling that the owner here sizes people up to see by how they dress and act to determine the price she would sell the item to them. This small thrift store is hidden in the back behind other businesses. I get the impression that most items for sale here have been in the store for years. There is an awesome collection of vintage phones but who wants an old landline phone? There are not only worn out shoes, but clothing that has seen better days. The aisles are cluttered, narrow and cramped. It is difficult to walk through them. Also as there is no fitting rooms, there should have been at least a long mirror to see yourself while trying on clothing, but there was none. When you buy used clothing, you are taking a huge chance as clothing can have shrunk, have unraveled stitching, stains, alterations, cigarette or sweat smell, have holes and other issues- trying on clothing is the best way to examine clothing before purchase. There is no way to do that here. I would not even know where i could simply stand with a few chosen articles of clothing to try on over my own clothing here. As I said, my sweetie and I were the only customers in the store at the time. I get the impression as well that it does not get much business at least lately. And yet, her prices are generally high. I do not even know how a store like this one can stay in business!

Sal was incredible to work with he truly embodies what the brand stands for. He greeted every customer coming in and out with warmth and professionalism and made my first experience consigning items seamless and enjoyable. Thank you, Sal, for delivering such outstanding service. I also really appreciated the level of security. With security stationed at the front door managing entry and exit, I felt completely safe bringing in high-value items. If you're looking for a secure, professional place to sell or consign luxury pieces, I highly recommend this location. On top of that, they have an amazing selection unique items I haven't seen at other locations. This Palo Alto store is officially my home location, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top tier customer service, security, and an elevated luxury experience. Thank you Sal and to the rest of the team! I then sat for several minutes waiting for assistance with a return, only to be spoken to in a dismissive manner once someone finally approached me. There were only two customers in the store at the time, so the lack of service was especially disappointing. Afterward, I followed up with my SA, who has always provided excellent service, and my concerns were escalated to management. Unfortunately, instead of taking accountability for how I was treated, Salvador responded with an email attempting to justify the behavior by implying the team was busy assisting others. That explanation simply did not reflect the reality of the situation. I responded respectfully, emphasizing that accountability matters and expressing hope that this could serve as a learning opportunity for the staff. I also clarified that my experience should not be attributed to high traffic when the store was clearly not busy. I never received a response. At this point, I question how thoroughly my complaint was actually reviewed. It feels easier for staff to claim they were occupied than to acknowledge poor customer service and address it honestly.

I've never encountered such a lack of professionalism, and negative feeling from a clerk in all of Menlo Park retail. The entire 3 minutes encounter with her was distasteful.
