Fake LV priced at $700 LOL WTH
    Monica B.

-I'm a thrifter & yes, some thrift stores have a distinct smell (not bad but distinct) but this one kinda stinks. -Not familiar with Redwood City but felt like it might be a funky part of town--all the meters were broken & someone was getting handcuffed down the street. -Only street parking & it's minimal. -Everything is way overpriced---fake LV priced at $700 lol -Workers aren't friendly... Asked a question & one woman didn't even look at me to answer. My mother was picking clothes up off of the floor & putting over rack & a woman scolded her "Do you need a hanger? Don't put things over the rack." Ummm hello, she was helping you pick clothes up off the floor!" I had to keep my mother to leave clothes on the floor. -Walked out empty handed.

This clothes are taken from Ross to compare with worn old clothes from savers.

Has anyone seen the dramatic prices of clothes at savers 5.99-8.99 that has been donated by people. The prices are expensive and the same prices as Ross and Marshall's.

To be honest, every time I go, I find interesting stuff and big deals. I found a MacBook Pro for 45 bucks!!!. I have found video games consoles too.

Are the fitting rooms back? Kind of useless if you can't try things on.

Goodwill has also removed their fitting rooms permanently. This effectively has caused me to never shop at Goodwill, nor Savers again. Extending a 14 day return policy is absurd unless I can get my money back. I don’t want to exchange something. I… Read more

The good old days are GONE thanks to Covid. San Mateo County is particularly hard hit as far as any Salvation Army activity. There is severe reduction by any charity and that includes Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul. Readers here probably know California has problems and people are leaving and therefore showing up at donation centers with beautiful stuff. The donation centers are going to be picky to the max so either you are going to be doing a lot of work on Craigslist or eBay to get rid of your stuff or you are going to see it go to ground fill by junk haulers and it's going to make you upset. Don't know how these organizations are supporting the new migrants that need to furnish theirnew homes. Guess they are getting debit cards and cash to go buy new stuff but your donation centers are not going to basically work with you and that includes Salvation Army. Learned the hard way when nobody wanted our beautiful stuff. Just be warned. Good luck!

My sweetie took me here a while back. The store owner was friendly and attentive. However, I saw…read moreso much stuff in this little tiny store. It was clutters of stuff and we were the only customers there at the time. To be honest, some of the stuff there probably should be just thrown away like worn out shoes and books in a shed that probably has mildew on them. Each time I did find something to buy, the owner kept on checking on her phone for a similar item's price. Apparently, most prices here are not set and the owner decides once the customer asks. I saw some hats I liked in a box marked $2 each, she told me that only some of the hats were that price. I found a kid's sweater that was from the 1990s and showed wear, she wanted $10 for it because it was apparently designer. Seriously?!? Also my sweetie wanted to buy a doll for his mother for mother's day and again the store owner had to compare pricing for it online. She gave him a price but would not budge on the price, my sweetie and I debated about it...was it worth it? Could we find another collectible doll at a different thrift store for less? Well my sweetie ended up buying it. His mom loved it. But we both think there are better deals elsewhere. I also have a feeling that the owner here sizes people up to see by how they dress and act to determine the price she would sell the item to them. This small thrift store is hidden in the back behind other businesses. I get the impression that most items for sale here have been in the store for years. There is an awesome collection of vintage phones but who wants an old landline phone? There are not only worn out shoes, but clothing that has seen better days. The aisles are cluttered, narrow and cramped. It is difficult to walk through them. Also as there is no fitting rooms, there should have been at least a long mirror to see yourself while trying on clothing, but there was none. When you buy used clothing, you are taking a huge chance as clothing can have shrunk, have unraveled stitching, stains, alterations, cigarette or sweat smell, have holes and other issues- trying on clothing is the best way to examine clothing before purchase. There is no way to do that here. I would not even know where i could simply stand with a few chosen articles of clothing to try on over my own clothing here. As I said, my sweetie and I were the only customers in the store at the time. I get the impression as well that it does not get much business at least lately. And yet, her prices are generally high. I do not even know how a store like this one can stay in business!

They direct you to where the items go and if requested will help with unloading your stuff. They do provide receipts if you want one. The parking area towards the donation side is a bit tight and can get busy over the weekend. I want to give a shout out to Isaac who was so pleasant and very helpful. He helped unload my car with so much energy and friendliness- makes you want to keep finding things to donate just because of how pleasant he made the process. In comparison, I dropped off my donated items this morning (Monday) and Chris was rather surly at first. He chided me for not parking in the lane - there was no one near me and I was there right when they opened. I re-parked my car to be sure I was between the lines! I asked for assistance and he finally did help after I made about 3 trips back and forth to my car. Night and day in the help service at Goodwill. The strict seven day exchange policy does not remedy the inability to try on clothes in the store because it is difficult to find time to make it to this Goodwill when you work or go to school full-time. This shifts so much more burden to people just trying to buy affordable secondhand clothes. The response from Goodwill is just a poor attempt to frame the removal of fitting rooms as a positive.
