St. Vincent de Paul no longer have furniture and lovely accessories - they just mostly have clothes. The Home Consignment store is full of some beautiful gently used items at a very reasonable price. So many new items come through that store almost daily. I found the employees there to be very kind and helpful. I purchased a couch, a recliner and a coffee table and used their delivery service. I could have not met another rude Asian old man as rude as the old Asian man working here. He rushed us to look through all the store even though there was still over an hour till closing. Then at the end he makes fun of how he doesn't give any customers discounts on any items and how he gets away with it. I was thinking of buying something from here until he was making fun about other customers I couldn't stand for it. The selection is also pretty bad mostly damaged furniture. Not a good experience with this company. Michelle was so rude when I asked when I could expect my payment, but tried to turn it on me. Kept repeating we have 60 days to pay you. I have purchased so many items here but this was my first time selling. I will never bring my goods to this establishment. If you do, do not expect prompt payment they will basically wait until you demand your money. The same snobbish unwelcoming attitude towards the costumers both the buyers and the ones who offer consignment. They don't have any awareness that this business exists specifically because of the people who have something to offer to sell. In 2019 I made arrangements to sell several pieces of my jewelry collection The lady in charge of that department was courteous as extremely helpful. During the 120 days on my contract they sold almost all of my pieces .. payments were timely. In October 2024 I took another batch of jewelry .. sales were slow as were payments .. my contract was over 2/11/25 - a ring was sold during the time before I picked up the items that did not sell .. today 4/14 & after 3 calls asking where my payment was it arrived in the mail. Cindy the lead salesperson was not to blame & was very apologetic but I did tell her I would be posting my disapproval of the long waits for payment Not only do they take 40% of the sale amount but also charge you for 1/2 of the 3% bank charge if purchaser uses a credit card!! My guess is that money is tight but certainly not my fault .. they held my $$ just short of 2 months I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN - ever read more

I have to take a second out of my day to applaud this consignment center. My fiancée and I have now purchased two items, and we absolutely love their hidden gems. Looking at some of these reviews, I feel like we must be in a different universe, because the staff here have been so wonderful, warm, patient, and accommodating. I specifically want to call out the sales associates Michelle and Tiana for helping us find pieces we really love and going the extra mile reaching out to some of their consigners for us. Nowhere that I'm familiar with in the area can you find gorgeous one of a kind original artwork at such bargain prices, but the cherry on top really is the customer service. Wow! What an extreme disappointment on customer service. Like the millennial CS (no offense to Millennials reading this), but the clerks here are more elderly so like the grandparents of the Millennials. With the exception of one guy who's been here awhile the manager Kimberly should not be in retail. I arrived 1 hour before opening, prepped my car for the 2 large items), and waited at Starbucks. 10 minutes to opening I asked if I could please pick up 1 of my items first (I needed to make 2 trips). She told me they opened in 6 minutes. I asked if she could make an exception since I needed to make 2 trips, then reinstall all 3 car seats to p/u kids in time. She said no. I can handle that as that's her choice as a manager. What I cannot handle is the following. I parked in the stall next to the garage door for convenience to loading with my back trunk opened. Her and her associate started pulling out trash and blocking the walkway to load things in my car. I told her she might want to move some of it elsewhere because my car was there, she responded, "well you might just have to move your car then". By now she clearly did not like me and that's fine but she dropped her professionalism to allow ego to take over. Very disappointing to me and my mother who are frequent buyers (not sellers) here. P. S oh ya, she also told the delivery truck dropping off furniture, "yay, you guys are early today", what the ...(that was at 9:55am). Walking contradiction. read more

The staff is very rude. I read other reviews that reflect exactly my experience. When I came to sell furniture they were acting like I was trying to commit a crime and they were catching me in the act. Over the top scrutiny of the dresser I was selling. Then I mentioned I had a desk to sell and she grilled me to death and was very negative. "What kind of wood...oak?...uh not so good...is it wobbly?...can't be wobbly...how thick is it?...can't have scratches either..." I thought it was just me until I read these other reviews. They should be extremely gracious since they end up taking 50% of the purchase price. read more

I see many reviews with notes of bad service and attitude; however, I have always found the people who work there to be helpful and friendly. I knew for years that home consignment center sold jewelry but I never really looked at it until today after shopping for earrings and necklaces at Nordstrom. What you pay here is about 50% off the prices you would pay at Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's. For $850 I got a .55 total diamond weight 14 karat gold post earrings, and for $450 a 14 karat necklace with 0.20 total diamond weight. See picture, sorry I only have one. Grouchy, nasty, lying, disrespectful. My wife and I have been here a few times and purchased items for our cabin over the last 4 months. We usually spend about an hour perusing the furniture and decorations each time. There is a general dismissiveness of the staff at this store. Each time over the four months we have asked to use the restroom while we were there shopping and each time they say "its out of order" " you have to use Starbucks across the street" "its being repaired" REALLY ??? I thought County/City code require a business of this size requires bathroom facilities for customers. They obviousely work for the employees. A general disregard and disrespect for their customers. The little man checking us out and the floor worker had different answers. If your going to LIE to your customers get your story straight at least or put a sign up stating "NO PUBLIC BATHROOMS" Just another unprofessional, no care for the customer Peninsula business. read more

I think buyers can find some pretty good deals here on lower end used items. As a seller, beware. I enjoy refinishing, painting, reupholstering and refurbishing furniture as a hobby. When I dropped off a chest on chest I told them what I had into it, and said I had to make $250 to break even. "It's beautiful, we get $500 for these so you'll get a check for half that". "We won't lower the price before checking with you". So when the check for under $200 arrived I called. I was told to read the fine print in light grey on the back of the contract. So read the contract before bringing anything in and by no means should you believe anything anyone there tells you about what the contract actually says. The contract allows them to lower the price by 20% without letting you know, and they will. (That's a tip for buyers) A pair of nightstands didn't sell, so I went back to pick them up and there were dents and scratches on the top and front. (I fixed them, painted them, and sold them for $225 - $100 more than HCC - out of my garage on Craigslist) I get the impression that they don't know how to value items and can't identify a Kreiss from an Ikea. All dressers are priced nearly the same at $400, all nightstands are priced at $150, etc. As a seller it works when your unloading a lower quality item but you'll lose out by taking a $1,000 dresser there. They market to low end bargain hunters. You'll make more on OfferUp, Craiglist, or LetGo and don't run the risk of someone damaging your items before they're sold. For high end furniture call Fine Consign or Michaans and have them sell it for you. Otherwise this place is okay for selling inexpensive items you'd rather not hassle with on social media sites. If you really don't want to be bothered and just want to get rid of stuff, donate to Goodwill or our Veterans, they'll come pick your things up at no charge and leave you a reciept for a tax write off. read more

Bought a bed frame a few years back from here. Was told by sales person it was the Z-gallerie Ava bed frame. Well here we are a few years down the road needing a piece to fix the frame. I contact ZG to see if I can get the piece to fix it and it turns out it's not theirs. They had me google the model that was fixed to the frame from the factory and it was a knock off from Macy's. Another company makes an almost identical bed frame and that's what this is. Other company won't answer or return calls so this bedframe is junk. Buyer beware look all over a piece for a marking, model number or other branding as they will sell you an item as designer and it's the department store replica. I had a great experience selling some of my older furniture here last year. They made the entire process pain-free. Their showroom is really nice, and my furniture sold quickly. It broke my heart that my furniture sold for so little, but that's what I get for wanting newer furniture. I really hope the customers who got my sofa, lamps, and chairs are very happy. I wish I'd read the Yelp reviews before I tried to consign with this store. I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation and maybe even found a home for my sectional. Now it's at the dump because I have obligations that prevent me from addressing the situation any other way right now. I spoke with Kimberly about consigning my leather sectional. I sent a photo. She called back to tell me about their process. At no point did she indicate that they do not consign items from homes with pets. At no point did she ask if I had a pet, as I would have told her we have a dog. Dog owners know it's very difficult to completely remove dog hair from stuff--there would have been no reason for me to lie because it would be obvious that I have a pet. Paid $75 to have someone pick it up and deliver to their store, as we don't have the vehicle to do so. Two days later, she calls and tells me they cannot consign the sectional due to the pet hair. I had vacuumed it before it was picked up, but there was hair stuck deep in the cushions that I hadn't gotten out because my vacuum is not that powerful. I assumed they would do a deep clean before putting it out on the floor--apparently not. So that's something to note--they don't clean the items they put out for sale. She tells me I have to either come down and try to clean it with a shop vac (I don't have one) or get the sectional off their property within the hour. I tell her that I can't due to family obligations. She is getting rude at this point, insinuating that I lied to her and insisting that she asked me if we have a pet. At no point does she try to deescalate the situation by acknowledging that she messed up and didn't ask me if we owned a pet or inform me of their pet policy. She suggested a service called Lugg, that I would have to pay for, to remove the sectional. I did arrange for that, for an additional $86 plus the disposal fee at the dump. So I'm out over $200 all because Kimberly failed to mention that they do not consign items from homes with pets. I didn't lie. There would be no reason for me to do that given the nature of dog hair. The service that picked up the coach didn't say a word about the condition of the couch. They picked it up (dinging my door frame in the process), took their money, and left. Kimberly was super rude. She did not handle the situation well at all. She was defensive and completely unable to admit that she made a mistake. I had to hang up due to her complete inability to handle a stressful situation with a customer. I've had stressful situations with customer service personnel before and it's been a long time since someone handled it so badly I had to hang up. Accusing people of lying is really uncool. I do not recommend this store. read more

This is an exciting place to to find furniture, art, lighting basically everything you need to furnish a home. I have both bought and sold there. It's a great way to buy antiques, and fairly new pieces which are all in really good condition. I was able to furnish our small house in Napa for under 5k. The whole house! They are super busy and I came prepared with patience and a list of items I needed and their sales staff pointed out pieces I did not see and were able to help me with interior design ideas. I came here to look for an entertainment console and kitchen table set. The majority of their products seemed to be living room related, including a plethora of couches. I was disappointed that mostly everything was for larger spaces and I needed furniture for smaller areas. Also, it was a little dark inside and crowded with items making it slightly difficult to maneuver around and scan for desirable inventory. Had a beautiful solid rosewood table/ chairs, matching hutch and sideboard at this consignment center. Had to pay movers over $100 to get it there. The items were priced at over $2000. Just received a check in the mail for the purchase of my furniture. It was less than $1000 ! I initially thought it was maybe the sale for only one of the pieces, so I called to check.... rude woman answered the phone only to tell me that due to it being there over 30 days , it was " discounted ". Do not take your fine pieces of furniture here as you will get close to nothing for it! My mother is rolling over in her grave as I know she had spent close to $8000 for that set. I have been coming here for or years and the new location in San Carlos is huge!! I truly believe in a green lifestyle and you don't need to sacrifice style in your home to be green. I bought two leather sofas here for $850. I originally saw them at Macy's Milan collection for almost $4000 with tax!!! My style ranges from hotel chic to mid century modern and everything in between. Recently I bought a beautiful china cabinet from the 1950's-60's with tax $750. This would have been 1500 at an antique store easily. What you get here is quality pieces that personally, I can't afford new. I have also sold many items here. Recently I moved into a much larger home and needed some furniture. I checked eBay, Wayfair, and a few other places, but was hesitant to buy without actually seeing the pieces. A friend mentioned Home Consignment Center and I was in the neighborhood, so I checked it out. Unfortunately it was a Tuesday and they're now closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but I peeked in through the door and was very encouraged. I went back the next day and found chairs for our dining room table and a dresser. Prices weren't much cheaper than I was seeing elsewhere, but I know the pieces are solid and there's no assembly involved. I'll have to pay for delivery, but I'd pay for assembly, too. And most of all, I know what I'm getting. There were many choices - some dressers had better rolling drawers and felt more sturdy and some chairs were more comfortable. I'm getting exactly what I wanted and that doesn't always happen when I buy online. The customer service was wonderful - helpful but not pushy. I never got that sleazy salesman pitch. I do recommend Home Consignment Center before you buy sight unseen elsewhere. read more
