Great place to donate clothing and shoes! I dropped off four bags at Turnstyle this morning. The lady at the door greeted me warmly and even said my donations were helping to keep the store alive :) They have a big market for running shoes in good condition, so definitely bring those here if you have them. I'd previously considered donating to Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul, but I'm very glad I decided to go to Turnstyle instead. I parked at the Caltrain lot ($1/hour on weekdays), and there's some street parking in front of the store as well. I'll definitely be back! read more

I always recommend this hidden gem because I have scored so many good deals here! Like a beautiful large framed oil painting for $40, for example, that would've been upwards of $800 in an antique store. Also the ladies who work here are darling. read more

This is a small, well-organized thrift store run by really lovely volunteers. The store supports many different charities. The prices are quite good, but perhaps my favorite thing is that they give four free books to kids. read more

If you're standing feet away from the door, have the decency to use your voice to communicate. I find wagging your index finger and pointing absolutely rude and disrespectful. Update your website and phone number and I wouldn't have to waste time driving to your shop to inquire about making donations. Everything is listed as "call to confirm". read more

3/14 update I just hit the tail end of the March madness sale, so not as much clothes on the racks. Some of the clothes don't have size labels so hand written price labels have sizes of Small, Med. and Large. 3 Cashiers who were friendly. Parking out front for an hour, .35. Pants averaged $6-10 and tops $4-8. Bought some Anne Taylor Loft beige lined pants for $3 with the 50% discount. There were designers names, I think there would have more more if I didn't get to the sale so late. Had a decent selection of shoes, $4-10 for everyday higher end walking shoes. When I had more free time, I belonged to the Assistant League and volunteered. As a former elementary school teacher, I love that the proceeds go to providing brand new back to school clothes, shoes, etc for needy children in the area. They had not just one but TWO pairs of purple suede pumps ($6)! So awesome. I had to get them. I also picked up a vintage 70s floral print metal TV tray for my collection of kitchen stuff ($1.25). It's funny but I actually am starting to collect trays. Brought in donations today, the people there are all volunteers and they're all very nice. I had a nice conversation with the old lady at the register about how pumps from 2-3 decades ago were so well made (read: comfy) cuz they were for "commuting" women. Love it. Kind of a small shop, but what's great is that they have the Catholic thrift store next door as well, which is like 3 times bigger. Great thrift store experience with the two stores next door together. I went at 1pm on Friday and the whole downtown was crazy with no parking. I parked under the Caltrain station and it was not a bad walk, even with big bags of stuff to donate. It cost a quarter. read more

Since this is a relatively small space-- less than half the size of the St. Vincent's a few doors down, though bigger than the church basement thrift shop over on Camino-- its selection is accordingly smallish... but they can have amazing vintage stuff. The things I've bought there (never for more than $10 each iirc) include an inlaid sterling Los Castillo pin/pendant, a matte custard glass Fenton heart box, assorted items of uranium and amberina glass, at least one pair of wooden geta... the list goes on and on. The only reason I'n not giving them all five stars is that it's hard to find parking nearby. Unless you luck out and get one of the few metered spots right in front, you'll either have to get a paid space at the Caltrain station, or park in the Trag's lot and sneak across (not recommended). For that matter, the only reason I'm letting y'all know about this little treasure trove is that I've moved out of the area and can't shop there anymore myself. (sigh) I'll miss this store. read more

I adore this place, it's got tons of stuff I didn't know I wanted, but when I see it, think where you've been my whole life lol. It's corners upon corners and shelves of every imaginable clothing and merchandise. What I especially appreciate about it is that it doesn't try too hard or pretend to be something it isn't. There's a lot of vintage places where the prices reflect wares much higher, e.g some of the second hand places in S. F. But this place is the real McKoy, a mix of kitchen and clothing, accessories, plus utensils, vases, glassware. A lot of their stuff doesn't have labels, which for many other vintage places, is a no no, because they're literally label conscious and project onto their customers that they should be as well. But this place doesn't care, focusing instead, on the actual item, and trusting that the customer will be able to assess its value to them, and decipher for themselves whether or not they want to buy it. I love this. The other more mundane thing: because it's tucked away on a corner, back street of San Mateo, the parking is relatively easy and not necessary to get paid parking and for me, if I'm going to a thrift shop, it's an oxymoron and insulting to pay for parking meters. read more

Tiny shop next door the the St. Vincent De Paul store. They carry a lot of clothes. There are some decent finds here, mostly in the glass case in the front. I was in today and spotted a lot of jewelry- unsure of the prices and a Gucci purse in good condition for $20. Not too bad. read more

Really weird, small place but they do have your occasional nice clothing piece. I went recently and donated a lot of clothing and shoes (at least a couple hundred dollars worth). One of the women there, old, wears glasses, short, curly grey hair, overall just really negative demeanor and a just plain, old disagreeable personality, not once said thank you when I dropped things off. When I requested a slight price adjustment for one item I was interested in and that would need some work, she gave me attitude. And then, on top of it all, she overcharged me (I had to do a tally of items because I just didn't like let alone trust her). I usually don't check the bill. NEVER donating to this place again. I usually donate to Pick of the Litter in Burlingame or some other worthy place. I will still visit when hopefully whatsherface isn't there... #theirloss read more

This place has a little bit of everything. Nice layout and good customer service.

We went here after having lunch, and although I didn't find anything for myself, I do like the store itself because it's spacious and they don't have too much stuff, which could be seen as a drawback. The volunteers were really friendly and even my hubby found something interesting...some old board games....but, alas, nothing bought, but I would come again just to browse longer since our metered parking was expiring soon. It's pretty well organized and you don't have to dig too deep into piles of stuff. I saw a puffy red jacket for $6...good quality, but it was bright red. Oh wells. I would only wear it at home anyway and for snowy conditions. Hahaha. Home and snow. read more

i really like this place because it is always clean and well-organized. the ladies are always really nice. the only problem with this place is that their selection is pretty limited, but maybe 90% of the time i find at least one thing i want anyway. fyi, you can only make purchases with a card if you spend at least $10. read more

i liked this store. The people were friendly, the store was clean and the prices were reasonable, very reasonable. I saw some hand bags around $4-6, name brand shoes for around the same.
