They had such fun things and gifts to get for people that are hard to give to and also people that you don't know that well I loved this store and the person that was working. I loved the selection of Paper Source, although the service is at best nondescript. They carried quite a few different Holiday and Christmas bags (small, medium, and large sizes) in differing themes and overall had a great selection of tissue paper and even a few bows - though I liked the bow selection better at David M Brian. Personally I would have loved to have seen some scented tissue paper or even gift boxes, but their bag sizing made a big difference as most stores tend to only carry medium or small bags. While checking out I wasn't offered a carryout bag so I asked for one and overall found the service exceptionally basic. You could easily replace the staff with self checkout and it would probably be a better experience. All in all, my mother loved the bag I bought her and I felt the price was worth the quality. read more

I, along with a group of folks, waited at locked doors at the 10 am opening time. I needed a gift wrapped today so I determinedly waited 30 minutes, long after the others left. No one ever opened the store. I drove 45 minutes to get here. If I ever decide to visit this store again, I'll call first to insure the place is actually open. read more

WOW!! What a great experience my fiancé and I had recently with Barbara of Paper Source. We had been struggling and over whelmed with wedding invitations prior to this meeting. When do we send them out? What do we say? How many cards do we need? Information cards? Etc... Lots of people recommended just doing them on line but that felt a little un personal to us. (And neither of us are good with computers or technology) We met in person at the Palo Alto location. This already felt good to us, as seeing cards and beautiful paper products put us in the celebration spirit. Barbara was Amazing!!! Super friendly and extremely talented at what she does. We instantly picked up on each others accents and discovered we both grew up on Long Island NY. After we reminisced about our time on the east coast, she worked her magic with the invitations. We found the perfect wedding cards and Barbara put our minds at ease about what information we did and didn't need to include. She also laid out a time line of when to send them out as well as when to expect them back. Our stress was gone!! This experience was bigger than just the invitations. It was a wonderful human experience. We were able to touch, feel , and appreciate all the little details about each card, and talk, laugh and smile with a friendly, and extremely talented woman along the way. When we left, both my fiancée and I's instinct was give her a big hug because it felt like we'd been friends for a long time. I believe this is a lost and dying art, where most things these days are done digitally, we are so very happy to have had the experience that we did! read more

I am a fan of paper source and the store always make me feel welcomed and inspired. Came here on Sat night to look for Valentine's Day gift. Found some fun cards here. However , the shop lady had a unwelcome manner . When I asked her a few questions she answered coldly and never show initiatives to help or make suggestion. When I paid and say thank you. All she responded was ' hmm hmm'. Such a lousy and unprofessional manner! Came in to look for Mothers' Day, ok stock, not much you couldn't just find on Amazon... Our toddler had just taken off their shoes (as they do...) and was told they often have a lot of glass on the floor. For being a paper store, this seems alarming. Where is all this glass coming from? If they know they often have a lot of broken glass, why not find a better way to clean it up? I don't personally want a bunch of glass on the bottom of my shoes either. They really take pride in there work and I love that. Special thanks to the manger for getting these gifts wrapped for me last minute. "Do Something Creative Every Day" After Ambassador Toys, my wife and I followed the walkway around the plaza and came across another store that caught our attention; Paper Source. We opened the doors and saw a spacious open store with walls and walls of colorful designed papers and other specialty items. The store boasts a stimulative playground for professional and amateur designers alike. If you can be creative, you will find necessities here. Move over Michael's; there's a new kid on the block. Paper Source in Palo Alto has been open since May 2009 according to one of their associates. I wasn't aware of the Santana Row location until writing this review, and I'm glad this location is close by. As I was perusing the decorations, gifts under $20, stationary, stamps, fine papers, wrap rolls, gift bags, ribbons, shaped boxes, binders, notebooks, colored paper, and flower kits, I noticed the walls painted in different pastel colors. I hear room colors influence mood. With that being said, I saw soft pastel colors of yellow, turquoise, avocado, peach, and clay. I can honestly say there was Anything and Everything Creative for DIY fanatics. I particularly liked the paper kits with animal faces and flowers. There were lots of discounted merchandise from 20-50% off. Walls of stationary paper and cards came in every shade and tint of the rainbow. One of the employees showed my wife how easy it was to make personal DIY stationary by utilizing a rubber stamp, colored paint, and embossing powder on stationary. The end result looked professional enough to make yourself look like you hired someone to do it. They even hold special workshops events on a periodic basis to help bring out your creative side by using their materials. Overall, I know you'll be able to find something for yourself and others once you stop inside. I knew we could've spent hours asking questions and touching everything. Prices are very affordable compared to other card and stationary stores. At the end of the day, we ended up buying a cute little plastic mushroom piggy bank for my niece. read more

Good selections but customer service sucks. Start with the good stuff. You like DIY stuff, you can come here. Good selections but not sure about the prices if it's cheap or not. I like they have DIY instructions on how to do things since we're doing a DIY wedding invitations. On to the bad stuff. Like I said if you plan to do DIY stuff, you gotta know what you need coz you're not gonna get helped. Well our experience, we were there for almost an hour and no one bothered to ask us if we needed any help. Eveyone else was getting help but us. I'd hate to think we didn't get any help because we were the only brown colored people there or we just don't look like we needed help. Ughh I just hate to think that way. Beautiful wrapping paper, ribbon and bows. It'll make your imagination go wild. They do a wonderful job on invitations and custom paper at a great price. The tables of goofy odds and ends seem to be a waste of the little space they have but it must be profitable for them. I wasn't feeling great when I was there, my back ache, so I was distracted and couldn't make a decision, but the customer service was excellent. They were very patient and repeatedly asked if I needed help. They even asked if they could take my basket to the counter while I finish my shopping without me having to ask. read more

Came in last minute to find a Godmother announcement card which they didn't have but a girl named ALICIA took time to help me put together a cool and fun box gift idea to help ask my sister in law to be our daughters Godmother. Dangerous place to spend more money than you want to. I come in here when I am looking for a special card, stationary or wrapping paper. They sell really beautiful paper products, albeit expensive ones. I got some great post-Christmas wrap here lately with ribbon (thick twine in natural and red), 2 gift bags and some tissue paper and on sale-- and it still gave me sticker shock. On the whole, I love Paper Source. When I didn't live near one, I would still order my thank you, change of address or christmas cards through their catalog. They have really cute and creative cards. I usually like to stroll through and look at all the other wonder-bits of fun in any given Paper Source. I think this particular location could stand to re-organize how they display their goods. Maybe I am just used to larger stores (is the santana row location bigger? seems bigger.) Even with the smaller selection at this location I found a great wedding card here with a couple of skeletons with the hearts still showing holding hands on the front. Oh Paper-Source, I am glad you opened one up near my new work and closer to home. I have always told people that Paper-Source is a cleaner, higher customer service, and higher quality goods Michaels. And it still holds true. However, I have gone into this location a couple of times and have not gotten the customer service I thought I was going to get. The first time, I was there one of the customer service associates went to the back to find something for me and ended up forgetting about me. (Playing devil's advocate - it was fairly busy). Okay fine. I had to end up asking her about it - she apologized and all is well that ends well. Okay. Fine. I understand - it's busy. No big deal. BUT! This last time that I was there nobody greeted me and asked if I needed help. And it's not that I knew what I was looking for. I was in the back trying to figure out colors and sizes and what not and NOBODY said anything to me. It's great because there were 2 associates working/re-stocking near me and not one of them asked if I was finding everything or needed help. No greet. No help. Today, my sister and I shopped at Paper Source. I was in the store for about 20 minutes. There were four sales persons at the counter just talking the entire time. As I wandered around looking for some speciality paper, not one of the four greeted us or asked me if I needed help because they were all too busy talking at the front counter. I brought this to the attention of the sales persons. It is disappointing that the owner of this store is allowing four people to be too lazy to offer assistance; what a waste of money. read more

LOVE this place! It's so quaint and aesthetically appealing. I can spend hours in there, looking a different ways to use pretty paper and making various crafts. I almost salivated at all the cool machines and beautiful decor. Came in to look at different wedding invites and tried to gather some ideas. If you are a bride, I think the way to go (if you have time) is to handmake them yourself! You can put a little extra oomph in them, including your own personal touch and creativeness. I did order the basics (papers and ribbons) from paper source and I'm so happy with them!!! They are not as expensive as you think they are! I'm making almost 200 invitations and it only cost me about $400 for all the materials. You might think that's a lot but if you have someone do them for you, it can be double or even more. I love this location too, it's a very quiet and nice little center. The workers were willing to help and show us various items we were looking at.
