Cute little shop I found after dinner in the area. There were a lot of cute kitchen knick knacks. I personally came for chocolate though. I tried the cherry cordial. I never had a dark chocolate one and I may not go back to traditional milk chocolate. If Im ever in the area in again, I try some of their other seasonal chocolates. read more

Gourmet Works - Specialty Food Near Me - Los Altos, California

For a guy that takes an inordinate amount of photos, I am surprisingly unobservant. This place is just three doors down from the Posh Bagel on Main St. How is it I just noticed this fantastic store? I mean, stores that sell candy and chocolate are my jam. But it was invisible to me. Until today, anyway. I am so happy I finally found it. Because Gourmet Works is much more than a store that sells candy and chocolate. In fact, as the name would suggest, it's more of a Gourmet food store and Gift Shop than a Chocolate Shop. But it's also a hella cool chocolate shop and that's the main reason I will be sure to return. Right when you walk in the door you are surrounded by an astonishingly large variety of items that would make the perfect gift for a loved one, or for yourself. Because, I ain't gonna lie, there were at least a dozen items that I considered buying for myself. I thought to myself, you know, I do so much for me, and it seems I rarely properly thank myself for my devoted patronage and self care. If you are interested in high quality gourmet gifts, Gourmet Works is definitely the place to go! They carry so many products you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Gourmet Salts, Dried Herbs, Pasta Sauces, Dried Pasta, Curry Sauces, Masala Simmer Sauce, Special Preserves and Jams. An impressive, well-curated selection. Then, at the back of the store you find the kind of Chocolate display case that dreams are made of. Oh my Lord! Just the Truffle side alone would be enough to melt anyone's heart. But the other side, with the astonishing variety of hand dipped chocolates is where I lost it. I saw the Almond Bark and stopped dead in my tracks. I stared at that Almond Bark. The Almond Bark stared back at me. We were locked into that stare down for what seemed like an eternity. I was sure neither of us would ever give in. But then I blinked. Somehow I became aware that the wonderful woman behind the counter was asking me if she could help me. As I regained my senses, suddenly I felt so embarrassed. How long had I been staring at that Almond Bark? How many times had she tried to get my attention? I had no idea. I tried to play it off like there was nothing going on between me and that Almond Bark. I casually inquired about some Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt on a totally different shelf in the display case. Then, of course, I had to buy a couple of those Chocolate Covered Carmels with Sea Salt, to cover up the whole situation with me and the Almond Bark. I purchased a couple ordinary, un-chocolate covered Caramels with Sea Salt too. The woman behind the counter couldn't have been more gracious. She didn't let on that she knew exactly what was happening and I wasn't fooling anyone with the whole Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt charade. So, my thanks to Gourmet Works, and the gracious woman behind the counter, Padmaja (her family owns Gourmet Works). It was such a pleasure to shop at your wonderful store! Ordered a custom gift basket for a friend. They were very attentive and helpful in setting it all up.

Came here for my birthday with some friends and had a great experience! The dude working here was very nice to us and even gave us a free sample of the chocolate caramels, which were absolutely delicious! They were so big and soft and chewy, I bought several of them, as well as a lot of chocolate. I'm already looking forward to the next time I can visit! read more

This is a cute gift shop that sells fine chocolates and other candies as well as gifts. Over the years I have purchased an adorable easter bunny mug, guinea pig salt & pepper shakers, and assorted chocolates. On my most recent visit, I tried two types of fudge, chocolate walnut and turtle. Both are very good. I still have one of my guinea pigs, but sadly, someone who will remain nameless broke its mate! read more

They have finally opened up at the new address in Los Altos. Made my day to be able to go back here to shop. Same great chocolates, gifts and food items. So please come on in and shop for the holidays. I purchased a cute square bowl that I will fill with candy for a gift. Thank you Gourmet Works love you all. I adore Christmas and holiday decorations - I have walked into countless shops based on window displays, enjoyed the decorations, and walked out without buying anything. I walked in here, immediately loved and bought a beautiful sparkling tree and two electronic candle holders. I love the owner's taste in decor, and based on that, I will be back to try the chocolate. Very polite, friendly, and helpful service :) Thank you! read more

This is family owned business in Los Altos, so the customer service is extra warm and welcoming. I have bought my teachers gifts, holiday hostess items and most recently, last minutes gold treat boxes for my daughters birthday party table. Each time, Gourmet Works customizes the gifts/chocolates according to my budget/taste and creatively gift wraps making the finished product look very special. They really go out of there I highly recommend Gourmet Works if you would like to try their delicious chocolates or browse for some fun gifts. read more

This is a great store with excellent customer service and friendly staff. I placed an order on-line for Easter bunnies and other chocolates to be delivered to my son and family. Jacque called me that same evening to see if I would accept substitutes as they would not be making or selling more until after the SIP. She was accommodating and even added a couple of items to my order at no cost. It's good to buy local and support small business owners in these times! read more

To begin, I think your response was rather insulting and condescending. 1. I never walked up to the counter, only my mother did. She said, "This looks like your last one, can you please set this aside so I can make an exchange." What in that comment is rude? 2. The young man raised his voice loud enough to make us and other shoppers uncomfortable. 3. Nowhere on the packaged product does it say "contact the manufacturer" we bought the product from your business, as a seller, why can't you contact them on your customers behalf and figure out why they are selling bad product? From a business perspective selling faulty product makes any shopper look at any of your products as potentially faulty and untrustworthy. 4. The young man also accused my mother of lying, when she is a regular who spends money at your small business why would she lie about a $30.00 spoon break after coming out of the package. 5. You might have been actively listening, but the young man continued to interrupt, and talk over her in an aggressive tone. 6. I never said you were a big name company, and that's just why every customer matters. 7. Take some responsibility and ownership for displaying products that are defective, you contact the manufacturer and fix the problem. I hope this $30 spoon, bad attitude and condescending message was worth losing a reliable customer (and some). read more

Delicious chocolate-- go for the chocolate and stay for the gifts and household goods. Chocolate covered Oreos are beyond. this shop offers a little bit of everything, greeting cards, cookbooks, cookware, baking mixes, and gourmet hand made chocolates. it really is a haven for us women who like to shop to stock up our kitchens! re their greeting cards, they have all handmade cards, created by a local bay area artist. there are cards for birthdays, weddings, new babies, and more. each card is priced @ $3.95. i realized that i had yet to purchase a greeting card for my friends who are getting married next week, so decided to purchase a card. of course, the tough part was picking just one, from the beautiful assortment. after browsing their display of handmade chocolates, of course, i had to get a little something for myself, they offer a variety of milk, dark, and white chocolate confectioneries, some with nuts, some with savory items, and some filled with other sugary goodness (truffles). i decided to get a dark chocolate haystack cookie ($2.46), which was essentially toasted coconut covered in dark chocolate. this was divine and really hit the spot. i'll definitely be back the next time i need a greeting card, or a little something to satisfy my sweet tooth. read more

This is a fun kitchen/gift/chocolate shop in the heart of downtown Los Altos. I've stopped by a few times for my chocolate fix during lunch hours. All of the chocolates in the display case are handmade in the Gourmet Works Pleasanton shop. The quality of the chocolates is pretty good--I've enjoyed the dark chocolate covered pretzel sticks and dark chocolate rocky road. Their prices are also fairly reasonable: my total was $5 for 2 chocolate caramallows, 1 chocolate pretzel, and 1 chocolate rocky road. In addition to chocolates, the store carries plates, napkins, candles, cookbooks, and mixes. read more

I ordered a custom gift basket over the phone and had it delivered same day to a friend. They were super helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the final product (sent me pictures and recommended gift ideas) before it was delivered. There was even a minor issue with the delivery location (friend's house was fenced off for construction). Appreciated they made sure my friend got the gift basket and just leave it in the middle of the road. Great service all around - would order from them again! read more

Whenever I have guests over at my house, I like to get truffles here so they can have a delightful treat. The raspberry truffle seems to be the favorite, among my friends. My favorite item here is the chocolate dipped Oreo cookies. They come in dark chocolate and also in milk chocolate. In addition to chocolate they also have gourmet jams, seasonal decorations, fun treat boxes and sauces. This little shop is worth a visit. read more

I've always had excellent service here. Yesterday called close to closing time and was told to come on over and they'd wait for me to arrive (I was 10 minutes away). Didn't feel rushed at all once I got there - they were quite gracious. And yes, the chocolates are amazing! read more

This place is so good. Chocolates were very good and they provided many options. I highly recommend this place.

Love this place!! Cutest shop ever, and the owner is really friendly. She definitely takes care of business and handles her customers well. They have an incredible selection of chocolate. It's also lovely how they offer samples. I highly recommend trying some! I'm just glad I work next door to a chocolate shop ;) read more

The owner is friendly. Fresh truffles (the chocolate variety) abound in the glass case. The main focus of this shop, though, is on interesting kitchen and home goods, stuff like tableware, cutting boards, seasonal ephemera, and fun kitchen towels. They also carry little fun small-batch cooking items, like artisanal salt, flavored oils, and unexpected scone mixes. Small shop physically, but looks can be deceiving. There's never been a time I have come in that I don't find something clever, decadent, or both - I shop here mainly for gifts, rather than for myself. I do appreciate that there's a wide price range in their offerings. They have an all-the-time markdowns area, and after major holidays, they have a table for seasonal markdowns, as well. read more

This is a perfect place to create a gift basket for a housewarming or holiday gift, or pick up some confections to satisfy your sweet tooth. The chocolates (made in house!) sold here are delicious. Even though I'm not a huge chocolate fan, I'm hard pressed to turn down a chocolate-covered pretzel when offered. Candies and chocolates supplied by other makers are also offered here in a variety of styles - liqueur-filled, holiday-themed candy, jelly beans. The rest of the store is similar to what you'd find at Sur la Table - kitchenware and serving ware, jams and jellies, aprons, cookbooks, baking mixes, and holiday decorations, handmade greeting cards...just to name a few. Although downtown Los Altos boasts a handful of kitchen specialty shops, the idea that I can get anything I need for a quick gift here is a great help. read more

Definitely a cute gourmet food boutique. When I walked in this afternoon, the one girl working didn't even acknowledge me. I walked around the whole store, even walked by right in front of her face. Not even a peep. She was just hanging out behind the counter. At that point, I walked out and went across the street to Satura Cakes and was greeted even before I had their door open all the way. No matter how good your products are, they are nothing without a friendly staff and good customer service. read more

So rude. We left without looking. The owner yelled at someone when their mask slipped low on the nose. She was in the middle of pulling it back up when the lady got frustrated and just kicked everyone out, listing all the reasons she absolutely can't get sick. The other worker looked just as shocked as us. She was also in the middle of yelling at whoever she was on the phone with. It was so rude and unnecessary. If you don't like the way someone wears their mask, just ask nicely and they'll fix it. Yelling over and over without letting someone respond accordingly to fix the issue is just a bad way to run a business. I felt so bad for the other worker, too, she looked so embarrassed and disturbed. read more
