The place is larger than it seems from the outside, with multiple rooms and aisles of toys and gifts for all ages. This includes blocks and wobblers for toddlers, dolls and figures, dress up and jewelry items, miniature cars and vehicles, dinosaur themed products, board games, card games, mad libs, stickers, arts and crafts, science activity sets (like Rainbow Unicorns STEAM fun project), sports items and bike accessories, and so much more. Everything well organized into different sections, and even each section thoughtfully organized too. Such as the jigsaw puzzles labeled by number of pieces and age appropriate, making it easy for customers to find what they need. The selection of games and puzzles was extraordinary, with so many unique options, I wanted to get something for myself! But I have self-control. I ended up just buying an origami plane kit for one of the kids. The stuff here is on the pricey side, and I wasn't trying to splurge. Service was professional and friendly at the front counter with minimal waiting necessary, even on the weekend before Christmas.

What I found especially frustrating is that the "ALL SALES FINAL -- NO REFUNDS, NO EXCHANGES" stamp was only placed on the receipt after I had already paid, and no one informed me of this policy before I purchased the item. If I had known beforehand, I could have made an informed decision about whether I wanted to buy it. I explained to the manager that I felt this was misleading, especially because the receipt itself says returns are accepted and I was trying to return a defective/damaged item, not simply return something I changed my mind about. She told me that she could only offer me an exchange. I explained that I did not want an exchange because I had purchased a defective item and wanted a refund. Overall, I'm very disappointed with how this situation was handled. I understand stores have return policies, but customers should be clearly informed of those policies before completing a purchase, especially when it comes to defective merchandise. There was a kids table and a dinosaur toy outside of the shop. We had grabbed it for a few minutes and sat in the kids table not thinking anything of it since we would put it back. Then a few moments later while we are trying to enjoy our cake, two women are walking towards us and one lady says to us , "Do you know how stupid y'all look on our cameras?" At first we didn't know if she was talking to us, but as she got closer she repeated that phrasing and accused us of creating a mess. ( a mess we did not make and was already there). We explained calmly that the trash was already there, and suggested she check her cameras, but instead of addressing that, she again said we looked stupid and looked like "fools" and kept on cussing. At this point it was only the girls around this area, once our guy friend heard the altercation they approach us and calmly said to her that we get where she's coming from but she could have approach us more respectfully, she suddenly said she was "just joking" and that we were taking it to serious and she then started to get aggressive getting closer to us. To us, it didn't feel like a joke, it felt disrespectful when a grown lady is talking aggressively to teenagers calling them "stupid". She later said the toy was free to take, which made the situation even more confusing because why start all this when the toy is "free". All this was caught on video btw. Seeing that this is not the first time something like this happens outside the shop is disappointing.

Among the items I love are the small metal sculptures from Africa, the wooden bowls from Nicaragua, and all of the owl-themed items. I bought two little string dolls, one Medusa and one Frida Kahlo. There was one volunteer working and she was helpful and kind. The shop wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon, but I'm guessing that's about to change with the holidays approaching. I didn't come in thinking I'd leave with anything but ended up finding a birthday gift a beautiful book about the ocean for a kiddo. I also found these tiny boxes that you turn and they play a classical song so that came with me too. I wanted to buy all the cards! I saw a woman walking around and let her know that her space was beautiful curated. She was very kind and I later learned she is the owner. She rung up my order and after asking if she had any wrapping for my book she found some leftover and wrapped up my gift. Gwen was very kind and has taken a lot of consideration on the items she displays at her store. They are beautiful and unique items in this store. I believe the price I paid was worth the unique value. There are signs posted to not take photos of the items inside the store so I couldn't get any while I was there but trust me the space is beautiful and the items one of a kind. In fact, we just purchased a copy of Threshing Day, which is funny because we pre-ordered that book on Amazon, and then realized we have the luxury of purchasing that same book from Kepler's. It opened originally across the street in 1955 by conscientious objector Roy Kepler. He had ties to and thought along the same lines as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the founder of City Lights Books in San Francisco. Ken Kesey, Jerry Garcia and loads of other literary and musical bohemians have mentioned the impact this bookstore had on their lives. Support your local bookstore and come here.
