This location is very convenient to get to as it is in a walkable area. The pharmacy can get packed during rush hour but during the day or later evening it is easy to pick up quickly. I love that they are open late and open sundays as well as the fact that they have a drive through. It has taken me phone call and 3 visits to get a simple prescription fill , including bringing in a PAPER copy of the prescription. THEY STILL GOT IT WRONG. I am going to switch all prescriptions back to Costco. They seem to have hired the top of the class rather than D students. read more

I'd like to update this review. Over the past year or so, it appears that they have had better staffing and they've been quite proactive with helping customers. I'd like to acknowledge the pharmacy staff. When I have been able to talk to a real person at the pharmacy, my prescription pick-ups have gone really well recently. They've even expedited some prescriptions at my request, when my family had to travel. Walgreens phone system and stocking of medicines is still pretty terrible, however. Unfortunately, CVS is just as bad, and we're starved for choice. read more

They didn't have anyone manning the checkout counters so the guy at the photo booth was calling everyone over to the back to check them out there. Super disrespectful towards minorities!! Drive thru makes you wait very long and sometimes there is no one in line inside! Waited outside for my mother in laws prescription for sometimes an hour and meanwhile they are assisting all inside customers. Not one time did they come say anything. Other times they would say it's ready and give us the third degree or make us wait 20 more minutes. I don't understand why they are like that! Neither she nor we deserve this type of treatment or judgment! We have switched to another pharmacy and will never shop there again. Others have left behind us. This Walgreens was never good. I had people waiting behind me in the drive-through getting out of their cars to ask me if I were being helped - this is how long it would take. Today it has been over 25 min that no one is answering the phone. I called the manager but he replied that they were super busy, "so cannot guarantee they will pick up the phone any time soon." With that the system was saying "two callers in front of you", then "one caller in front of you." Now there is no one in front of me. Waiting for half an hour now. Their pharmacy is sooooo much better than CVS. Shorter lines, more employees, express lane, and even drive through! Sadly the rest of the customer service here is awful. I asked for a particular OPI color and looked up the name and OPI number because Chris In beauty wanted me to look up and let her know the exact number. Then she told me "whatever is out is all we have." Why was I asked to find the specific number then? When I asked a second time if they can kindly look up that color in their system (is this 2019 or 1902??), she brought over the "assistant manager in training" Isaac who was completely clueless. When I asked him if it was reasonable to look up a customer request on their system he said "what do you mean customer request?" What kind of training is this person getting to Manage a store? How is it possible to get in line for a scheduled vaccination, have the person scheduled for the slot behind you in line arrive 15 min later and they still end up getting their shot before you. Once there, I filled out a form that was mostly filled out for me prior to my arrival. They had my medical card on record, so it was $0 for the process. Poor service. I went for my Covid booster and had to wait 30 mins past my appointment time because they're not staffed. While I waited in the confined area, two people came in coughing saying they wanted Covid tests because they had been exposed to Covid and were symptomatic. So the place where I'm most likely to catch Covid is the 30min wait before I get the vaccine? Always a wait whenever I go - for anything. I go to other locations unless it's necessary. Walgreen's on El Camino has become a neighborhood gem! Given all the challenges to hire and maintain staff in the region, Walgreen's has done an exemplary job. The store is always very clean and the drive-up window is efficient. It is pretty clear when someone is trying to make the experience as painful as possible. Could not move the hand properly for a week after the appointment. After years of using the Maybell Walgreens pharmacy, we will be switching. The surprising rudeness by both the cashier and pharmacist was too much. My Dr. placed 2 prescriptions at this Walgreens which the cashier initially confirmed and said one was ready and one was still in process. While I waited, Walgreens sent me a text confirming 2 prescriptions. After standing in line again to pick-up the 2 Rxs, the same cashier told me that the Dr. did not order a 2nd Rx. I called the Dr.'s office (now closed) and learned that 2 Rxs had, in fact, been sent to this Walgreens. I asked the Pharmacist to speak to the Dr. The Pharmacist ignored my request for assistance, refusing to even acknowledge that I was standing 3 feet in front of her. Finally, the Pharmacist's curtly replied, "We don't take calls on personal phones." I stood in line a 3rd time within the hour where now the same cashier admitted, "We are working on the 2nd prescription." I asked how long the wait would be and she ignored me until I asked multiple times. I don't know if this is typical of weekend Walgreens service, but patients picking up essential meds are customers too. read more

Customer service is meager. They do not know (or forget, all of a sudden) how to use the code sent in the text message once you pay on-line. The first clerk did not know how to enter it. The second said it did not work. They demanded the barcode. I produced the barcode. They wanted me to hand them my phone because their scanner won't go through their drive-through opening. How is that my problem? Give them my phone? Are you kidding? All in all, I paid them again for the same medication simply to get it over with and get yelled at because their own code did not work and because their scanner won't get through that window. They were yelling at me saying that usually (OK?) people hand them their phones. USUALLY, they would just get the code from me that I receive in their own damn text message for that same damn purpose. What the hell is wrong with that pharmacy? read more

This Walgreens has gotten ridiculously expensive compared to other stores. It's basically starving to survive before it's axed by corporate. I have an insiders reference and it's one of the slowest stores in the district. So rising living costs/wages + slow sales= increases to be able to keep staff around. It used to be tolerable, but almost $10 for a 6 pack of Dove soap is enough to make me wait until I can go on my Safeway or Target run. I love Walgreens to death, but I've even started to get some of my OTC meds and supplements at CVS because they're in line with the other Walgreens in the region.. The one saving grace is the staff, both in the front, photo, and pharmacy. The employees are all very friendly and helpful, and are quick to respond to backup calls. My prescription has sometimes been ready at the pharmacy before my doctor even gets back to me on it! That is the one reason I continue to return, because every shopping experience here has been hassle-free and relaxing. read more

I spent over 2 hours trying to get the pneumonia vaccine for my Autistic adult daughter with underlying conditions to no avail. On two separate phone calls I was first told that she met the criteria. When I showed up with her for the appt, I was told then that she didn't meet the criteria and couldn't get it. I scheduled the appt when they said she qualified. One hour later when we showed up, she didn't. Also I called when we got home to mention another criteria and was told that she did meet another criteria about an hour later when they called back to say that she didn't. One girl said that she was looking at her computer and was looking at incorrect info. I'm not sure what the guy was looking at. The pharmacist said that the doctor needed to electronically send in a prescription for the vaccine with the medical condition on it. She also said that she would call the doctor to verify that the info on the prescription was true. As if I was going to get a forged prescription. Very insulting! It's not a narcotic. Then the pharmacist told me that she is not going to risk her license to dispense a pneumonia vaccine for my daughter. I know the rules. It was irrelevant to mention that bit about her license. They showed me a piece of paper with the CDC guidelines which do not match the guidelines at the CDC website. I gave up with Walgreens. They don't answer their phones. Another store at Moreno doesn't answer their phones and utilizes a phone answering site that screens phone calls via pharmacy techs. Then the techs route you to the pharmacy only after you jump through phone options. Then when you get through, it just rings about 40 times and then disconnects. I chose to go to another pharmacy that doesn't judge me and isn't paranoid about their pharmacist license. It was very unprofessional of her to use her license as an authoritative component. I used Good Rx and paid cash at a different pharmacy. It was well worth it. It was by no means worth my time and effort to try to get the vaccine at Walgreens. This isn't the first time that the Walgreens pharmacy just sucks. At the Moreno location I was told that my prescription was ready. When I showed up, it was not ready and was told to wait another 20 minutes by the Head Pharmacy Tech in charge. From where I was standing, she didn't appear in charge of anything. She made it very clear that her position was of great importance by her posterity of standing boldly with her hands on her waist. I will never go to a Walgreens pharmacy ever again. I just thought that their customer service had improved. I was wrong. I tried to give them another chance. If I could give them ZERO STARS I would. read more

Came here to buy one item. I got on line at the cosmetics counter and there was one person ahead of me. The cashier first gave a long sales pitch for the customer rewards card, convinced the person to sign up for it, and then started going through a very long process of signing up for this card. Basically they want to collect all of your personal information, name, phone number, address, and for whatever reason it takes a very long time to enter it into their stupid computer. After waiting a few minutes, I left this line and walked over to the main register that also had one person ahead of me. After I got on this line, I realized this person was also signing up for their fucking rewards card. I stood here for 5 minutes while the customer struggled to enter their personal information into their computer and then gave up and left. There's something very wrong with a retail store where signing up for a rewards card is considered more important than making sales and letting customers, you know, BUY THINGS. read more

EEEk, indeed! Pretty bad. One example: Being told the prescription is ready, going there, it's not ready, and then having them get it wrong a 3rd time! Repeated emails that my insurance won't cover (it *always* eventually does within 1-3 days, not sure why they can't work with my insurance better). I get calls from Walgreen's for prescriptions not belonging to me as well. . The manager is nice, has been apologetic, and tried to explain that theirs is a training site (this was over a year ago, not sure if it still is one or not). Prep. of your RX after your doctor has contacted the pharmacy seems unusually slow. Also, if it's not ready and staff says just wait 15 minutes...don't believe it; it almost always takes *much* longer. I'd rather have a more accurate estimate than waiting, for example, over 40 minutes when I expected a 15-minute wait. *Please note that they have "lunch hour" (I think it's 1:30-2:30 pm) coverage ONLY on weekdays (M-F). If you go on a non-weekday there is only one pharmacist, and, by state law, you cannot pick up a subscription if it is "new." New does *NOT* mean you've never been prescription the medicine before: It means that your doctor has not been designated the prescription as a "renewal." Even if you've been prescribed it multiple times, this Walgreens reports that it is state law that a pharmacist must be present if you're being provided with a "new" prescription. STRIKE THREE (at least), and counting... Another way this Walgreen's has screwed up in the past. About a month ago I had a bad infection for which I received a prescription. I got one pill at the doctor's office, then called Walgreen's the following day to see if they might surprise me and have it on time. No, I was informed that it would not be available until Thursday... Wait, a second, I'm sick with something that will only get worse without medicine, I have a prescription phoned in the day before, it can't be filled (because they're out of the medicine)... they have my email and my phone number, and they DON'T TRY to contact me! Unbelievable. I called the doctor and had it filled elsewhere. read more

This Walgreen's is located right across the street from my office, so it's perfect when I need my mid-afternoon chocolate fix! I'll go there for some M&M's and a Diet Coke. If I don't have lunch plans, sometimes I'll walk over there and stroll the make-up aisle, or the office supplies aisle, and find things that I *need* to buy. Any photos that I get developed, I do there. The staff is always friendly, and always willing to help if I have a question. This was closest to a hotel we stayed at during a visit to Stanford Hospital. It was very convenient being just up the road. They had everything we needed and more. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed that it wasn't overly crowded like some drug stores closer to the actual hospital. This Walgreens is terrible. I am handicapped and could not even enter the store easily because a group of 30-35 teenagers had taken over the handicapped spaces. Once inside, I waited 20+ minutes but could not pick up the medication I need. Instead, everyone in the pharmacy focused on one family that was trying to make a vaccine appointment. The line got longer and longer, and unvaccinated children with their masks pulled down began to run around the store and passed within two feet of me multiple times. Because I am also immunocompromised, I felt unsafe and left without my medication. I asked to speak to the manager, but he did nothing to assist me.
