I absolutely love Costco. I'm not ashamed to admit that. What I don't love is when I'm checking out a new warehouse, doing some shopping, and the experience is deplorable. We all know that their parking lot can be a nightmare, and that varies depending on the time of day. This parking lot is definitely no exception. In actuality, this is probably one of the worst parking lot experiences I've ever had. There's no rhyme a reason to it, it doesn't flow, and unfortunately, the people in the parking lot are pretty indicative of the people shopping in the warehouse. After finally being able to park, and then trying to hunt down a shopping cart, I was in the warehouse and finally shopping. I would consider Mountain View to be fairly civilized location. Boy do they have me fooled. Apparently, shopping carts are the new game of go karts. Everyone is fair game, it's acceptable to push someone or their shopping cart with your own, and run into people and keep going. I thought maybe that was my experience, but as I made my way through the warehouse, it was an everyone experience. I did enjoy the fact that I found some items at this location that I have never seen at the handful of other warehouses that I do shop at, so there is the positive in the story. The lines to check out are absolutely insane and people change lanes with the intent of trying to push someone else out of their way. It goes from being amusing to ridiculous. My plan was to go through self check out, but then one of the Costco employees started picking up all of the hand scanners, and saying that they would no longer be using them because of this particular warehouse, I guess people were not reading things incorrectly, and it wasn't being caught at the door Getting through one of the regular lines was less problematic than it appeared, and the line thankfully moved a lot faster, but not without incident. The people in front of me were literally throwing things onto the "belt", and when some of the jars collided and broke, that made for a lovely smelly mess. By the time I got to the cashier, he had a look of desperation in his eyes, and I promised him that checking me out would be as pain-free as possible. I was glad that I could bring some levity to the situation, and give him a feeling of relief. Definitely not my favorite Costco. Definitely not my favorite shopping experience. This Costco location is a bit smaller than the other Costco locations in the Bay Area. It does have your usual departments including an Hearing Aid section, Tire Service, etc. The parking lot is smaller than most. Though, they do offer street parking as an option. Public restrooms, food court inside with tables and benches. But overall, should have what you are looking for. read more

IMHO This is not my home store. I came here for one reason only. I was in search of the elusive hamantaschen cookies that I had seen featured on the Bay Area Costco FB page. (Yes, I had tried finding them in my local area with no success.) I had difficulty finding them as I cruised through the aisles with all of the other cookie offerings. I was starting to lose hope. I finally asked a gentleman who was offering mixed nut samples. He kindly suggested that I seek out an employee in a red vest, and they could possibly tell me. He was right! I was directed to the correct area, but I still circled around without seeing them. Finally, I saw them in the international food items! I looked up at the price signage which stated $10.49 and I grabbed two boxes. At the cashiers, I noticed that I had been charged $13.99 for these cookies and showed them a picture of the $10.49 signage... (yes, I take pictures of these things for times like this.) It turns out the signage was for a different product but misplaced directly over the hamantaschen cookies. However, the kind cashier said that she would ask that I be credited for their mistake. This is only a review for the food court. I work closely to this Costco and have visited the food court for your typical pizza and hot dog. Unfortunately during the hours of 11- 2 the line is poorly managed. Quite often there is one worker and without pointing to names this person is extremely slow. It has been brought up on numerous occasions that the line needs more workers and the same manger refuses to do anything about it. I've decided to drive to Sunnyvale to go to that Costco. Please hire more workers for food court. read more

I love going to all the different costco locations because they all have stuff that's unique to the area they are in but the parking situation and layout of this store makes it tough. Let's start with parking - it's cramped and narrow. Normally in most Costco lots, the lanes are wider but not here. When I came it was busy in the middle of the weekday afternoon, and had to circle a few times to find parking. If you don't mind walking a bit, park on the left side closer to the other part of the strip mall, it's less congested that way. The store itself is fine, has what you'll typically find at any Bay Area Costco, didn't notice anything different or unique to the store. The one thing I did come for was party bags of ice, and after looking around, I asked a team member, and they told me that don't sell ice there. It's one of the only locations I've been to that doesn't sell ice, so if you are prepping for a party, going to RWC location is the move. read more

It feels like there wasn't too much thought about how each section/department was going to be designed in the layout. 3. Very small dining area for the food court. Pros: 1. For the delivery service that delivers appliances, Costco could do so much better: 1. My window was 330-530 so I cancelled a 2:00 meeting worried it might go long. Delivery service calls me at 6:06 telling me they'll be another half hour or so. Great. 2. My old washer broke mid cycle so it was full of water. They didn't have a siphon or know how to use a hose to start one so they hauled it out to the driveway and dumped the dirty soapy water on to my driveway. Great. 3. I had a tray underneath the washer that they did not reinstall. 4. They did not use plumbers tape so I had to unscrew the hoses and install it. 5. They didn't know how to work the machine, it required 2 presses of the start button, one to turn the machine on and one to start the cycle. 6. Not my usual Costco, but wow what a great selection! Not sure if we just lucked out on the time of our visit, but the meat and especially fish selection was amazing. They had chicken feet and more fish than I've ever seen at a Costco before. We came right after moving and to our surprise they had a really good selection of bath and kitchen accessories. We ended up getting a kitchen and bath mat that we've really liked so far. This location didn't have all the staples I find at my regular Costco, but it was still fun to get and see some different products! The parking lot is pretty big/spread out, so while it is pretty hectic closer to the store, it's easy to get a spot in an uncrowded area if you don't mind a little bit of a walk. read more

Short Story: A high end Costco near the Google campus and Amphitheater! Long Story: I've been here a few times and it's always had what I needed. This place has a great selection of wine and lots of varieties of meat/seafood. This place will carry higher end wine and meats than the Costco in Fremont or Newark. In addition there's more selection of cleaning products, clothes, and snacks! It's located right off the 101 so it's convenient to get there and get out. Verdict: Let's all go back! read more

We came to this Costco last week. I have no bad things to say about any Costcos that I have been to so far. I just like walking around and looking at all the other foods and gifts for people. It's exciting to see things that I don't have in my home Costco like I saw some fruits and vegetables that they don't sell at my Costco which made me a little jealous. I also liked the clothes selection. They had a ton of warm winter clothes for the chilly weather up here. And the prices were very reasonable. It doesn't really matter about the brand to me, as long as it looks durable and it has a good price, I'm sold. I saw a nice winter jacket for my dad, I didn't get to get it but hopefully the next time we go, I can get it. read more

I'm not usually one to complain ESPECIALLY when it comes to Costco however the service I received from the food court- Kevin was extremely disappointing. I had ordered a whole pepperoni pizza from the food court and was told it would take 10-15 minutes. We waited off to the side and were approached after 8 minutes we were told that it would take another 10-15 minutes. We continued to wait on the side and at this point there was more people behind us waiting as well, as they were also instructed to wait where we were. Kevin then checks a customer who also ordered a whole pepperoni pizza (same as when I ordered) and continued to give them it without having them wait on the side although there was already many people waiting and at this point we were waiting for 20 minutes. I then proceeded to ask why we were instructed to wait although that customer asked for the same item and got it right away. Kevin then went "uhhhh I don't know sorry?". Then walked away. To me, it was extremely frustrating and I'm hoping it did not have anything to do with race since the person that got it right away was the same race as Kevin and everyone that was instructed to wait was from a different background. read more

We ordered Bali blinds through Costco and while the blinds turned out fine and at a decent price, the third party checkout integration left much to be desired which resulted in shopping carts that timed out but which carried phantom blind orders into the final purchase. Unlike normal online Costco orders, the integration doesn't allow easy viewing of the orders. Calling the Bali customer service resulted in a redirection back to Costco. Thankfully the staff at the Mountain View Costco store were competent, efficient, and super pleasant and helpful. Susy deserves huge accolades! So lately I've been venturing over to this Costco and I don't mind it. I love going to different Costco's because they all usually have different things. The only annoying part is that when one stops carrying something you have to switch again. I've never had any issues with service. Everyone is always fast and friendly. Costco - Busy line for my hot dog fam~ - Department Stores Near Me - Mountain View, California

I think this is my favorite Costco warehouse. Despite being convenient to 101, it can sometimes be tricky to get in and out of Costco depending on traffic. Getting onto 101 after shopping here can be challenging when the on ramps were designed back in the Ice Age when we were all riding on our Giant Snails. It's a very short merge. There can also be a bottleneck getting in and out of the shopping area. The parking lot may seem small (compared to other Costco locations), but I have never had a problem finding a spot to park my car. I'm frustrated by how items in each Bay Area Costco varies by their customer demographics. So I end up visiting several different locations instead of the one closest to me. This Mountain View location seems to cater to customers who have a more refined palate, which is noticeable in their amazing selection of cheese and wine compared to the Sunnyvale location. You often find cheeses that are sold in stores like Whole Foods (vs the more pedestrian stuff sold at Safeway, and which is also more typical of the cheese selection at Sunnyvale). The space allocated toward wine is much larger than at Sunnyvale, and I notice there are more options to choose from. This store oddly carries only the organic bananas, while many other locations offer the choice of organic and non-organic bananas. The alternative milk selection, in the refrigerated section, is also more varied (Almond / Soy / Oat). The food court is inside the warehouse. There is no seating inside or outside to consume your food. Having no gas station as this location can be an advantage (unless you really need to gas up your car). You won't find your path, in the parking lot, blocked by cars lined up for the gas station, as you would often see at other locations. I also notice that the customers shopping here tend to behave better. They tend to return shopping carts to the cart return area, rather than leaving carts willy nilly in random places near their parked car (as many shoppers at Sunnyvale tend to do). Customers tend to be more considerate inside the warehouse and have better awareness of other shoppers around them. They are less likely to deliberately block the aisle to prevent others from passing. They don't walk 2- or 3-person wide to block other customers from passing them in the aisle. They are courteous and patient when driving through the parking lot. The overall shopping experience is better at the Mountain View location due to the more "civilized" behavior of their clientele. read more

Honestly, I've been to this location so often it feels like a second home. For our family with three kids, grocery shopping here is essential for cutting down on food costs. I've come so often that I recognize the workers who check for my membership card and help scan items at the self checkout line; I give smiles of familiarity to the samples lady and a head nod to the samples gentleman worker with the hairnet. My kids have learned to spot the samples carts from several aisles away; it's always an exciting moment in our family when another Costco sample cart has been found! I love how this location isn't has packed as the Sunnyvale location and parking isn't difficult. The warehouse also just feels more spread out than the Sunnyvale location so that it doesn't feel like you're walking all over each other to pick up your bulk toilet paper and milk. Workers are friendly and helpful; I've had a worker quickly help me scan my items in the self checkout because she could see my toddler was melting down. I had a craving for pizza so I decided to go to the Costco Food Court. When I walked towards the food court, there was a self service food ordering station. The ordering process was quick and easy. On the screen, I pressed on the two separate pizza slices touch screen buttons to purchase one pepperoni pizza slice and one cheese pizza slice. When I was done ordering, I paid and walked to the customer line near the front counter. The Costco staff members called out who ever is next to help prepare their food items. I was called next so I approached the Costco staff member. He was nice and quick with preparing my food order. He grabbed the ready to eat pizza slices on the trays off to the side behind the window. I received my pizza slices and the pizza slices looked great and were warm! I sat at the food section benches to eat my pizza slices. The amount of condiments were the perfect amount that was placed on top of the pizza slices. The cheese had the greasy goodness on top and made the pizza taste so good! The pepperonis were chewy and the breading/crust were moist and soft. I loved and enjoyed the pizzas at the Costco food court. If you ever decide to eat at the Costco Food Court, you must order the pizza slices! Great tasting pizza for an amazing price! read more

A pretty normal Bay Area Costco with a decent selection comparable to others in the area. It does not have a gas station, so I actually don't come here as often as the Sunnyvale Costco. The traffic situation can be pretty bad; it seems slightly worse to me than Sunnyvale even though the latter is a bit busier, probably because of the design of the roads leading in and out. There is bike parking in front of the Total Wine, but it is a bit tight if you want to securely lock the frame and front wheel. read more

I visited this Costco location on [insert date and time] and had a disappointing and disrespectful experience. I asked to use the restroom, and while I understand it was near closing time and the facilities might have been shut, what shocked me was hearing an employee say -- loud enough for us to hear -- "We cannot let these people go inside." Referring to customers as "these people" in that tone, right in front of us, felt demeaning and rude. This is not the kind of professionalism or respect I expect from a Costco location. Then like a million-billion people started throwing hash at me. Maybe it was my "moving out of Silicon Valley" present; how would everyone know anyway?! What happened to the McDonald's?!!! We thought it'd be a quick in and out since we're pressed for time. We were stuck at the register with the cashier, who couldn't figure out which item he'd charged us twice for. There were only 10 items and he scanned 11. It took some time to figure that out. We went to another register to take care of it. Took another five minutes. We won't be returning back to this Costco. I wanted a slice of pizza. I am not a member. I went to the door and asked a woman if I could buy a slice of pizza. She said no today ..many times before they have said yes. I talked to a supervisor called Amadeo who said no I can't even though the pizza bar is right next to the entrance. So I said I'll ask a member to buy it for me. He said no I can't do that. I said sure I can. A member helped me get a slice and he said I have to be with her and he followed me . I said don't you have anything else to do other than watch me buy a slice of pizza. He then went another supervisor who came and told me I can't ask a member. I said that's ridiculous and I will write them up on Yelp and I hope get fired. I once worked there during the holiday season to try it out and wash harassed by the supervisors and I noticed they treated their employees as if it was a military camp.. One supervisor followed me into the bathroom and watched me use the restroom via the mirror in front of my stall. I quit the next day. Please close this place down Costco treats their employees like dogs but you would never know. The other supervisor was Christina. Horrible. read more

It was my first time going to this location located in Mountain View. This Location, happens to be right off of the freeway located in Rengstorff shopping center. Known to the locals as Rengstorff Avenue. This place is super conveniently located and right next to an In-N-Out and McDonalds. This shopping center allows you to do multiple things in one area. The parking is very limited for a Costco. So, be patient because everyone is scrambling for a parking spot at this location. This location is much smaller than I thought. I'm used to the bigger Costco warehouses Like the: San Francisco, Redwood City locations. Being smaller is only one quirk about this place. Most Costco's have the same layout so it's easy to maneuver around. Most items are all in the same places but not necessarily with this place. It took me a few minutes to get my bearings, to figure out where things were at. It's a little bit confusing getting around. The items are limited by comparison, but they do cram alot into their small location. I left with half the items on my shopping list. which in hindsight, is probably better because I didn't feel so broke. Lol. But it does mean I will have to make a second trip to my local Costco just to get everything else. It's a nice location and I'm sure most people are completely fine with what they offer. It just didn't suit my needs because I'm used to more selections and finding everything I need. But it's Costco! and so therefore it's going to be, in my opinion, better than 80 to 90% of other grocery stores. I hadn't been to this Costco in a long time because Of shopper shopping behavors Yesterday, I have to pickup some items, and honestly, I regret it. The store was absolut chaotic. People were cutting across lanes unpredictably, moving without awareness, and completely disregarding basic courtesy. It felt like there was no sense of order, making the experience frustrating and stressful. I truly believe in America as a melting pot, and diversity is one of its greatest strengths. However new immigrants, understandably coming from countries where life is more competitive and survival-driven, bring that same intensity into everyday activities like shopping. While I respect that background, I also think it's important to adapt to local customs--small things like spatial awareness, taking turns, and being mindful. Another issue I noticed was when staff drive cart to arrange stocks they were aggressively honking honking honking...which has become a trend in the bayarea since new immigrant shoppers would never bother get out of way (culture back in their country?) some with the whole family... grandparents, kids, babies, shopping buddies,..... like a family holiday outing,. it just insane. read more
