I came here to get both of my wedding dresses altered (1 ceremony dress and 1 reception dress). I am only 4'11" so I pretty much always need to get dresses shortened. However, for these dresses I also wanted them to be more form fitting as they were both too loose. I was also worried about the lace on my ceremony dress because it's too pretty to just cut it all up. We decided to shorten the inside layers but kept the outside layer of lace a bit longer. Ali and his team did such an amazing job! After the alterations, both dresses gave me more shape. The ceremony dress did need a second fitting/alteration to make some adjustments but the end result was exceptional! The reception dress is practically made of entirely beads and sequins so I was also pleasantly pleased with how that one turned out too. I would also like to point out that the turnaround time was extremely impressive! My dresses were done in about 2 weeks!! I was so happy with my experience here that I recommended this place to another friend of a friend to get her wedding dress done here too. Plus, I have since come back again to shorten a bridesmaids dress I need for myself. I brought a dress in that I believed had been altered incorrectly at another location, looking for a second opinion. A gentleman (who I assume is Ali) had me put the dress on so he could inspect it closely and see exactly what I was unhappy with. As he reviewed the dress' hem and provided his input, I was met with kindness, professionalism and honest feedback. He told me that it had been done just right and he wouldn't change or touch anything. I so greatly appreciated the honesty and not being scammed into spending more money, or potentially ruining my dress with more unnecessary alterations! Ali saved my wedding dress, and I'll only come here for any other alterations from now on! I had originally wanted to come to Ali because he has the best reviews in the area, but my bridal shop recommended a female tailor who specializes in wedding dresses. Since I needed bust alterations, I figured I'd go with the recommended female tailor. Unfortunately the other tailor sewed the sleeves asymmetrically, made the fabric puckered in the back, left visible hanging threads, and didn't secure the cups well so they slid and were visible from the side. With only a week left before the wedding, Ali fixed my dress and even noticed another fit issue that the previous tailor and my friends/family hadn't even noticed. Ali proactively asks a female assistant to help brides get into their dresses and was always extremely professional and respectful when he did have to lightly touch me to adjust the fit, so I was comfortable the whole time. With a petite frame and standing only 5 feet tall, our daughter's prom dress required extensive alterations. After spending a great deal on a high-end formal gown, we did not want to leave any room for error and needed a trusted tailor. The dress needed to be taken in at the hips and corset, straps and horsehair hem shortened, and a one-button bustle added for the train. A bustle is a MUST if you want to dance without anyone stepping on the gown and destroying it!! Horsehair hems are very involved and demand a tailor with advanced knowledge. This is a review that's been long overdue since my last one. Over the last year and this year I have frequented Ali's place with mostly tailoring request but occasionally repairing as well and he has done a fantastic and absolutely incredible job on all of them for incredible and fair price! Below the alterations are done shortly after my last one (last one is in November and this one is from December, most of which are vintage dresses that needed resizing due to me buying them in various different sizing and vintage sizing sometimes depending on the brand can be very different. Most of the alterations involved shortening the shoulder straps, bust cinching, waist cinching (from the back or if the gap is big it will be done from cinching under both sides of the dress) and occasionally hemming. Ali and his team did amazing jobs on each one that I almost could not tell the dresses have been altered at all, there were minimal marks of alteration and no visible signs of cinching or stitching on the outside of the pieces at all which is so greatly appreciated considering vintage items can be fragile and un-forgiving for mistakes. For most of the work, strap adjustment & cinching of any kind can be between 35-80$, hemming can be between 30-60$ which is very fair and amazing consider the quality of the work, turn-a-round time, and in comparison to other tailoring places I've visited. Very very highly recommended and much thanks to Ali and his professional & expert team :) Edit: There were also some pictures with tops & pants, Ali and his team did fantastic jobs on those as well. Recently, rats got into my basement and chewed on some of my expensive jackets and suits, Ali was able to do patchwork on them as well as fixing one to its original condition with no flaws or visible signs of repairing!
