I brought my daughter-in-law's wedding dress to get cleaned, after reading the many positive reviews. Note: there are not many cleaners that handle wedding dresses in my area. Laura was very nice and pleasant as per many reviewers. However, it is unfortunate that I cannot recommend Pro Cleaners for wedding dresses. I took the dress in for cleaning and it was indeed dirty (at the bottom) as it was an outdoor wedding. After leaving the dress for almost 2.5 months, I picked it up only to discover that instead of a white wedding dress, I now have a full beige wedding dress! I brought this to Laura's attention. To her credit, she did offer to clean it again. So I left the dress for another 6 weeks with her. I called to check on the status of the dress cleaning and Laura gave the bad news that they were unable to clean it and this is where I was totally disappointed in the service. She started giving me all sorts of reasons why the dress was not white. She even said that the dress maker may have used a non color fast material etc. anyway, isn't it why you dry clean fabrics? I don't know what goes into dry cleaning process but I was nevertheless disappointed at the outcome. After much discussion and push back, Laura did agree (verbally but not in writing) that the dress I got back was not the same white dress that I left her with. I had my daughter-in-law reach out to the dress maker to see if they had encountered such an issue. They were shocked to hear this. They offered to clean the dress for us. Since they are in Chicago, I do not have an outcome to post. But the dress maker was confident it was not due to any materials used in their dress. I have been a customer at Pro Cleaners for several years. And I have always been pleased with its services. Today, I went to Pro Cleaners to pick up dry cleaning and laundry. I noticed that the collar of one shirt was not properly pressed unlike the other laundered shirts. I pointed this out to Laura, and she said to remedy this I would have to pay a "special handling charge." In response, I asked why must I pay such a charge when the shirt collar was improperly pressed by Pro Cleaners. She didn't flinch, and continued to state that I would have to pay that charge. I asked the amount of the charge, and she said $4. I then asked if it is worth it to Pro Cleaners to risk losing my business over $4 to remedy a problem caused by Pro Cleaner's poor shirt pressing. Again, Laura didn't flinch and continued to insist that I pay such a charge. As a matter of principle, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I came to Laura with 2 dresses that needed tailoring within a 2 week window. Both dresses needed to be taken in from the side near the upper rib cage and one dress also needed the waist line lifted. Within 1 week Laura texted me to come in and try the dresses to see the fit. One dress fit perfectly and the other needed some more adjustments so it stayed with her for another week. I don't usually write reviews (especially negative one) but this time I had to share since it was really terrible. I got a few new pairs of jeans which were a little too long for me so I tried this place for hemming. I expected they would do a decent job especially since they have very good reviews. It took a week to do the hemming. I noticed something was wrong as soon as I tried them out. I got uneven hem jeans!! It was pretty shocking since hemming should be a very basic skill for alterations. It shouldn't happen and I wonder if they don't double check their work. They obviously looked so wrong. They also had a bad finish, and there was a 5 inch thread sticking out. I brought them back, and after a lengthy discussion with the owner and staff, they agree to redo the jeans, adding another week. I was hoping they'd redo them properly this time, but faced another problem. The seam have not been sown properly, and a small part of the folded area has an opening (on two legs of the three pairs of jeans). I mentioned it to them when I inspected my jeans there. The owner said that's how it is supposed to be, and to come back if it starts to become loose. I checked my other jeans (unaltered) at home, and none of them had an opening like that. I don't wanna go back anymore since I'm already tired of going back and forth. And I might have yet another problem next time. They might do a nice job for cleaning, but for alterations I would not recommend this place. read more

It was a last minute request and I needed it within 2 days. They were very busy with alterations, but managed to do a beautiful job and have it ready for me in time to leave for an out of town wedding. As others have mentioned, the owner, Laura, is very congenial and tries to accommodate your needs, if at all possible. I had a coat that needed length hemming and the sleeves shortened. This was my first coat so I wanted to make sure the tailoring was done well. I looked up coat tailor on yelp and stumbled on Pro Cleaners. Laura is very responsive, answered within the first 2 hours of my project request. After submitting a project request in the area, she replied with a quote. Maybe my request was unclear that it was 2 asks (the hemming of the coat length and the shortening of the sleeves) but the quote Laura gave me was only for the shortening of the sleeves. I arrived at the location to try on the coat and have Laura measure where to hem the coat length and shorten the sleeves. The new quote bumped up quite a bit with the coat length hemming. Considering that I dropped the coat off a week and the quick 1 week turnaround, I am happily satisfied. Right in time for my trip! She also gave a $10 discount. Laura was kind and patient when measuring where to hem the coat length. She gives advice and suggestion but left the final decision to me. Summary: Dependable cleaner, reasonably priced, friendly, gets stains out, crowded parking lot Details: I went to the same cleaners for more than 10 years so I was hesitant to find a new one after I moved. I shouldn't have worried. One Sat I checked out three cleaners within a mile of each other and the woman who works at Pro Cleaners was over-the-top friendly and helpful. Five years later, I now know she works there 6 days per week and is always friendly. They normally write your name/code inside your dress shirts but I told her I didn't want them to do that. I only had to mention it on two visits and they've never forgotten. She seems to remember everyone. One day she even had my shirts ready for me before I even got through the door. I spill on myself more than I care to admit -- all I have to do is point out the stain when I drop off the shirt and, like magic, it's gone when I pick it up. I prefer my shirts on hangars with no starch. Feel free to get them boxed or stiff as a board, if that's your thing. The only complaint I have is they could button a third button but that's splitting hairs. She does alterations and sews button on. One time she even saved one of my favorite pair of jeans when I ripped it on a nail. The parking lot can be crowded since Pro Cleaners is next to Alotta's Deli but they do have one parking spot which is reserved just for them. read more

When I went back for dry cleaning and the lady was like that actually never happened and they never got back to me in Two weeks to find out and I even called they do not even pick up my phone. I brought my bridesmaid dress with grass and dirt stains on the bottom in hopes Pro Cleaners could remove them and they did a beautiful job. A week and a half later I picked up my dress with all stains removed and it looked brand new again. Couldn't be happier with the result of my dress! For my bridesmaid dress and robe, total cost to dry clean was $40.50. I wish I took a before and after picture but trust me when I say my dress looks brand new. Finding a new alterations place always brings me anxiety. Are they going to ruin my favorite dress? Will the craftsmanship be worth the price? Luckily, I found Laura and I know I'll never have to look for another tailor again. I walked into Pro Cleaners and Laura immediately greeted me warmly and even remembered that I contacted her via Yelp. As I'm changing into the bridesmaid dress I need hemmed for a wedding, we're conversing and I immediately feel like I'm catching up with a good friend. She pins the dress and tells me when I can come back to pick it up. As I'm sitting at my desk an hour later, I decide that I actually want the dress to be longer than I'd originally thought. I immediately grab the business card that Laura handed me on my way out and call. Laura patiently listens to my request and assures me that she'll hem the dress a bit less and it will fall exactly where I want it to be. A day earlier than anticipated, Laura texts me to let me know that my dress is ready for pick up. I head over after work, right before they're about to close (she even kindly texts me to take my time driving over and says that she'll wait for me to arrive). After having gone through some poor customer service experiences, coming to the Pro Cleaners was notably different. Such great, attentive service. The original date for the dry cleaning was set for next week but we are heading out of town this weekend. They were so flexible and responsive to making sure we got what we needed in time! I admire how much effort she puts into her pieces. She did an absolute amazing job! You can't even tell that my clothes were altered. I wish I had taken a before and after picture because she truly worked so hard on these pieces. They were very thought out given the pants and long sleeve sweaters I brought were way too long for both my legs and arms. I'm only 5'0 so my arm length is also short but she made sure that they fit perfectly. It was like the clothes were made for me. I appreciate her kindness, patience, and effort.
