UPDATED January 27, 2025 Since there are no 12-step programs for leather motorcycle jackets or custom-painted helmets, I have a problem. I recently purchased yet another motorcycle jacket, this time one that was custom fit. But the maker F'd up on the sleeve length. It was 1.75" too long, so I looked like I was wearing my father's jacket. The issue is the sleeves are zippered and have snaps at the cuffs. So I knew this would be a bitch to change. May told me she could take the sleeve apart from the shoulder, gave me a VERY REASONABLE price and I said no. It's too much work. So I asked if she could remove the sleeve zippers, remove the snaps, and do a simple cuff on the sleeve. The price she quoted me was very reasonable. So I took the jacket to her. This is my third jacket, all leather that she has altered for me. When I returned to her shop, she was still working on it. I asked if I could stay and watch her, and of course, she said yes. As I watched what was involved in my 'simple' fix I thought OMG, I know SO LITTLE about what goes into this. So when she was done, I paid her 140% of what she quoted. She tried to fight me on this and negotiate with me. Nope take the effing money May, OMG you are SO WORTH IT. If a service or product is average I don't return. I'm now a three-timer with May. That says it all.

May did a great job, she is very professional. I'm a small lady, my suits sleeves are always too long, tried other places too, but definitely May is most professional tailor I know so far. Thanx May.

    Before adding laces

May provides great service to my alteration request. I got this dress and the neck line was way too revealing. She helped me find the trim/lace that would go well with dress. And she's also meticulous in tailoring the outlay to fit the body shape better, it's all in the details! I love how the dress turned out and will wear on my vacation! May is very professional, prompt and have a great eye for design!

I needed two suede jackets with zippers shortened, and from the research I had done online, I knew it wouldn't be an easy job. The first alteration shop I visited immediately tried to discourage me from doing the alteration and suggested I buy new jackets instead. They repeatedly emphasized how difficult it would be to cut the zipper and work with suede. Then I went to Kim's, and the experience was completely different. I was welcomed with a positive, can-do attitude right away. She was confident about the work and even quoted me a lower price than the first shop. One week later, I picked up two perfectly fitted suede zipper jackets. The quality of the work is fantastic. I've already received several compliments on them, and I was especially impressed that the original zippers were preserved. they didn't alter the look of the jackets at all. I'm extremely happy with the results and will definitely be coming back!

The service was terrible. I took two silk blouses in for dry cleaning, and both were damaged…read more One blouse had gold metallic threads in the lace area, which were completely ruined. I have no idea what went wrong during the cleaning process. The other blouse came back with very obvious color shading and discoloration. What made the experience even worse was that the staff showed no apology or responsibility for the damage at all. Very unprofessional service. I would strongly recommend avoiding this store.

As I've gotten…read moreolder I've acquired some beautiful articles of clothing that are too delicate and irreplaceable to entrust to just anyone. I was amused that this operation is patronized by some Silicon Valley giants such as Ms Sheryl Sandberg-as I've learned reading other testimonials here. Well-if it's good enough for them, it must be good enough for me-albeit on a pay day. Their pricing is-yes, to the untrained eye, a tad pricey-but you get what you pay for. For special items, this is the place to be. I brought a silk dress that needed to be hemmed and the bust adjusted. I regret not remembering the lady who helped me but she was very friendly, gave me her expert recommendation, had a little chat and she sent me away. I did ask for a quote before I left and I felt it was reasonable given the delicate material and significant adjustments. I appreciated having a private room to myself and seamstress. I noticed they had shoes available of varying heights to simulate what it might look like alog with hair clips etc. Theres a platform they have you stand on so they can be at eye level to the hem if needed without crouching too low. These ladies/ folks are the real deal. Pro tip: there is parking available for customers past their shop in case street parking is complicated.

Come with pictures! Also, Jacquie is short on time so don't expect a full "hi, how are you." You're in and out of there as fast as possible, and the price is very reasonable considering the location. Everyone who works at the shop is very nice and efficient. They are hard workers and you can tell they enjoy what they do. Jacquie shared with me that she has been a tailor/seamstress for 40+ years which is hard to believe because she is so energetic and youthful. She has a good reputation for her craft, and I look forward to returning to Jacquie's Sew & Stew for future alterations.
