Jacquie was referred to me recently by my longtime seamstress who cannot take on new business right…read morenow. I brought two pairs of dress shorts to Jacquie to see if she could salvage them as I had gained weight and couldn't wear them. With the summer here, I didn't want to lose these shorts which are part of two important summer outfits I've long-depended on. Jacquie or her assistants did a terrific job on the shorts and saved these outfits! One of the shorts is a rare Hawaiian design. I will bring all my clothes that need alterations to Jacquie and look forward to doing more business with her!

I've been meaning to take some clothes here for years but never get around to it. As I've gotten…read moreolder I've acquired some beautiful articles of clothing that are too delicate and irreplaceable to entrust to just anyone. I was amused that this operation is patronized by some Silicon Valley giants such as Ms Sheryl Sandberg-as I've learned reading other testimonials here. Well-if it's good enough for them, it must be good enough for me-albeit on a pay day. Their pricing is-yes, to the untrained eye, a tad pricey-but you get what you pay for. For special items, this is the place to be. I brought a silk dress that needed to be hemmed and the bust adjusted. I regret not remembering the lady who helped me but she was very friendly, gave me her expert recommendation, had a little chat and she sent me away. I did ask for a quote before I left and I felt it was reasonable given the delicate material and significant adjustments. I appreciated having a private room to myself and seamstress. I noticed they had shoes available of varying heights to simulate what it might look like alog with hair clips etc. Theres a platform they have you stand on so they can be at eye level to the hem if needed without crouching too low. These ladies/ folks are the real deal. Pro tip: there is parking available for customers past their shop in case street parking is complicated.

Nina saved me! She is the best! I have had Nina alter many…read morethings over the years, but she really showed her excellence, wisdom, compassion, and overall know-how and experience when I brought her my mother of the bride dress to fix - exactly one week before the wedding. The upscale store that sold me the gown had free tailoring, and after four or five tries and my despair that it still didn't fit right and they weren't listening to me, I politely gave up and walked the gown over to Tailor Made. Nina thoughtfully figured out what the issue was and dropped everything to fix it for me, which was pretty complicated and took a few days. She solved what seemed like an impossible problem and what the store seamstress had told me was all "in my head." I will never again have that store tailor anything for me but will instead bring it right over to her. Thank heavens for Nina!!

Tailor Maid deserves to lose your business. I loved this tailor and used them innumerable times,…read morebut I stopped after a little spot of red nail polish was on the front of a brand new dress that Tailor Maid finished altering. An apology and even one free hem would have probably placated me (though a fraction of the cost of the dress. Instead she said she was not responsible. I have never used red nail polish in my life but MOST importantly, if I had dropped off the new dress with red polish, the owner (perhaps the person who pinned the dress), would have flagged it!! She and you potential customers know this to be true. I waited an entire year to post this, thinking the owner Marissa mght contact me. They lost my business. BUT I knew I must encourage others to speak up for people who sometimes do not have the words or time to stand for justice. They are very busy and you MUST take your business to Savannah or any other tailor in the area. Again, Tailor Maid deserves to lose your business.

One of the most important things for anyone to look good in their clothes is a tailor. Unless…read moreyou're a fit model, chances are, things aren't going to fit you off the rack. I regularly take my clothes to get altered at another location, but for my wedding dress I wanted to find someone who specializes in wedding alterations. My wedding dress was a rush job (my fault for waiting till the last minute) and did not fit me properly (for all those brides-to-be, wear the bra you're planning to wear at the wedding or the bust will not fit properly). I had also been working out to get in shape for the wedding, so I needed to have the dress taken in. The dress was too low-cut despite my request to raise the neckline by a couple of inches. When I brought my dress in to Elaine, she was critical of the dress, pointing out all the things wrong with the garment. She takes great pride in her work and I think it disturbed her to see what was in her eyes, shoddy workmanship. I asked her, "Can this be fixed?" She told me yes. She redid the seaming on the darts to fit my bust better, hemmed the dress so it was even, and took it in on the sides and the back to give me a better shape. She also cut and hand-sewed a panel of lace to the front of the dress to raise the neckline. It was so well done, it looked like part of the design of the dress. For simple jobs like hemming or taking in a garment, I think you can find a tailor with more reasonable prices. However, if you have a really expensive garment that you don't want to ruin or a difficult alteration, I would recommend Elaine.

What? $20 to cut a t-shirt short? That is too expensive, almost funny…read more I have 2 t-shirts that are too long, I plan to come in and show her how long I want them to be, just cut off and sew. I called her this afternoon around 4pm, and told her all that. She told me she will be out until Tuesday, so it will ve after that, and the cost will be "$20 for a t-shirt". I asked again to be sure about what I heard "Did you mean $20 for one t-shirt"? She confirmed "yes, that is for one t-shirt". The t-shirts I bought 2 days ago for $10 each.

The two most important pieces were the gowns for both of my children's weddings. She completely resized one gown from top to bottom in addition to doing a hand-stitched hem. For the other gown, she resized the top portion, redesigned the pleating at the shoulders, and hemmed it perfectly. Everything she did was beautiful--she truly turns store-bought gowns into custom designs. Perfection. Beyond her incredible talent, her patience and kindness are so genuine. She loves what she does and is sincerely invested in your special occasion. She even recommends what color shoes to wear and what shape purse to carry. She pays attention to every detail from design to accessories. I'm so happy and grateful to have found Foroogh and for being able to trust her 100%. It is a true pleasure to work with her!

May Tailor & Design

May is the BEST tailor in the Bay, especially for complicated jobs like wedding dresses…read more In summary: - very flexible hours for drop/pickup and fittings out of her home office. - straight forward and very reasonable pricing by the hour - ability to accommodate last minute or rush timeline even for complicated jobs - high technical skill as a tailor with delicate and non traditional fabrics and complex draping and layering - she's not just a tailor but also a designer! She's a FIT graduate, previously headed her own label, and worked for high fashion brands like Max Mara. She's great at simple jobs like hemming but really shines when there's design needs like wedding dresses and custom and high end clothing. - her personality!! She's a fun, calming, and confident person with a perfectionism that puts you at ease. I am May's client for life. She literally saved me and my husband's entire wedding wardrobe. Due to a last minute complication, I had a second hand wedding dress from Danielle Frankel that needed extensive reworking. She not only restored the delicate draping to new condition (she painstakingly draped and redraped it until it was perfect), she also improved on the original DF design by reworking the internal corset. Not to mention many other fixes like shortening train and sleeves, taking in waist, adding bustle. Not only did she transform my main wedding dress, she ALSO fixed poorly done work from another tailor on my second wedding look which included delicate hand sewing of a silk corset with metal boning AND meticulous hemming of a multi layer skirt piece. All of this she did within ONE WEEK of my wedding. Somehow she took it a step further. The day before we were supposed to leave, we got my husbands high end Italian suit back from his tailor and the PANT WAIST WAS TOO BIG. Obviously I call my fairy godmother May and she says no problem, we drop it off in the morning and she fixes the pants perfectly within 2 hours and we are on our way. I literally cannot thank this woman enough. She deserves the world. Brides rest easy, she's got you!

My coworker gifted me Dickies Japan Coveralls that were too big for him. It fit me slightly better…read morebut the crotch was too high and the legs were too baggy so I told him I didn't want them. I wondered how easy they would be to alter so I immediately started looking on Yelp. I found May and was surprised to find a FIT Alumni doing alterations and immediately sent a message. Response time was quick though she wanted to see the construction to make sure she could alter it how I wanted. I forgot to uncheck the Yelp message so it also sent my message to other local Tailors and alteration specialists and May's price of $60 was the most competitive for her skills. Location is at her apartment in MTV, she is a prolific pattern maker and you can see her butcher paper patterns adorning the walls as well as some racks of her own designs. She does have a conveniant changing room set up where you can quickly change for fitting and measuring. I wasn't in a rush and picked up the Coveralls yesterday, turn around was 3 working days and the alterations were clean and well-done. Much better than from the factory. Thank you May!
