I was completely misled by the positive reviews. I brought in a brand-new designer dress because it was big and too long. Nothing unusual for the properly trained tailor. I was quoted $140 for the alterations. When I returned to try it on, I discovered that she had only shortened the dress and had not taken it in at all. I used Paris tailor to resize a cashmere sweater by shortening and narrowing the sleeves, resize a size large jacket into a size medium, hem a set of drapes, and alter a whole slew of jackets with sleeves that were too long. I needed a place to altered my designer clothes but didnt trust any store so i did my research. This tailor was rated #1 in the newspaper for its quality so I decided to tried it out. I was really worried since I'm picky about everything. When I got my suit back, you guessed it .... The work was flawless. I've been coming back again and again since then. The cute little lady up front, think her name is Linda was friendly and greet me by name each time. She had cool suggestions on how the clothes should be altered. Shes such a good dresser, her clothes was always perfectly fitted, makes me feel safer giving her my stuffs because she knows what to do and how to make them look better lol. The works were beyond my expectation each time. I notice some people complain about the price but you really get what you pay for. If you care about how your clothes will turned out, bring it here. If cheap price is what youre looking for, you can find cheaper places out there. Nevertheless, $8 for a hem is really not bad. If you're already willing to spend 300 instead of 20 on a pair of jeans or suit, why not spend a few extra dollars to perfect it and feel like a million dollar. read more

My clothing edumacation continued at Paris Tailor in downtown Los Altos. I had actually been to Paris Tailor once or twice before to have some jeans hemmed. At about $8-10/jean, I thought they did a fantastic job and were a fair value. After searching Yelp, I realized that a few local places did it much cheaper ($5/jean), but when I had to have two suits tailored, I decided to return to Paris Tailor. Why? #1) I felt comfortable with their work having been before. #2) I felt that Paris Tailor had the most reviews that specifically discussed their tailoring suits and not just reviews regarding their dry cleaning or jeans. The first suit I chose to have tailored was a tuxedo for a wedding in which I had to be a groomsman. The alterations included tightening the waist area and shortening the sleeves. Initial bid: $65. I was a bit floored at the high price and asked for a discount since I had two suits. The second suit was a dress suit and only needed the waist tightened. The cost was more reasonable at $40. Overall, when I picked up my two suits the next week, I was happy with the work that had been done. She even told me the pants were fine and that I didn't need any work done, although I had questioned the length. Nonetheless, while I was happy with the work, I couldn't help but feel the prices were on the high side. I didn't quite understand why the tux cost more too, despite similar work. Both suits were in dry cleaning bags when I picked them up, so hopefully they were dry cleaned with that price too. Paris Tailor is cash only. read more

I got my fancy, overpriced jeans hemmed here and I couldn't be happier! They did original hem, and usually when I get this done, you can't roll your jeans up since the seams show and it becomes totally obvious that your jeans are altered. With Paris Tailor however, it looks like my jeans have not been touched. There is no evidence that the original hem has been cut and sewn on again. Also, they are so precise, that all of the seams match up. It was pricey ($20) but sooooo worth it. I'm taking all of my trendy, outrageously priced jeans here! read more

I have since moved to San Francisco but I still make the trip to drop off/pick up my stuff at this place. $20 for an original hem, $20 to have shirt sleeves shortened, and suit tailoring will vary. The Verdict: "Pretty good tailoring but kinda pricey and hit or miss service." I've been here twice and have had a lot of clothes altered. Most recently I have a dress altered which ended up costing me almost as much as the dress. Anyway, the pant hemming is nice because they match it with the same color thread so it looks like original hemming. My only complaint is the service can be off. For example the last time I went, I tried to pay with my American Express and the lady threw my card back and said "We don't take that." and then burped....yes burped. I started going to Paris Tailor awhile back after I got burned by Le's Alterations one too many times. I basically go in for hemming only. I've trusted them to hem multiple pairs of designer jeans and a dress or two so far and they've all been perfect... and I don't mean yeah passable okay perfect, I mean I'm nitpicky and they pass the nitpicky test. I can't attest to how well they do other alterations or even dry cleaning for that matter but not f'ing up my overpriced jeans is a huge deal to me. Like HUGE GIGANTIC deal. Easy parking is a plus. Out front may bet a bit crowded but you can park right behind the place and get in through the backdoor. Their prices seem reasonable, ie cheaper than getting your pants done at Nordstrom... and I find I don't have to go back and forth with them too much about pants length, they just get it, which being nitpicky, I like a lot. Los Altos is a bit further from my Mountain View locale but well worth the drive. Thumbs up! read more

This is the best tailor/cleaner I've found thus far. High quality work, friendly people, slightly more expensive than average but still perfectly reasonable. I am more satisfied with the alterations I've had done here than with work done by a pricey custom-clothing tailor in SF. I wouldn't say they're perfect. I had the sleeves shortened on a coat, and on one side the lining was reattached with a wrinkle so that it now bunches up if it hasn't been very recently pressed. Given the quality of everything else I've had done here, though, I think this is a rare fluke and something they probably would have fixed had I taken the time. Paris is also great for dry cleaning and will press and snip stray threads off your garments so they look like new when you get them back. However, they send their dry cleaning out (not sure where to), so the turnaround is not as quick as you could find elsewhere. But go elsewhere at your own risk -- I went to a next-day cleaner because I didn't want to wait, and the garment came back reeking of chemicals and in no way better off. Paris is pretty much the only place where I wouldn't be reticent to leave my clothes. read more

I have been going to Paris tailor for over 20 years. I started with just a simple hemming of jeans, which turned out perfectly. Since then I have brought them, St. John knits, Vintage Couture, a cashmere swing coat that needed the ling redone, a lace Valentino blouse, all of which needed adjustments in size, sleeve length, hemming etc... The work has been flawless, and consistent. Pricing may be a bit higher than others, but I would not trust my designer clothes to anyone else. I am hoping they will be here for many more years to come. read more

Is this a joke? I brought in two almost WHITE sweaters, both around $300 in value, and I picked them up today and they were completely different colors. I didn't think anything of it because the first one was off white to begin with and the second one was a creme, but when I took one sweater out of it's wrapping and unfolded it just now, about six hours later, I am LIVID to find BLACK STREAKS on the back of it. Not only that, but it is my favorite sweater I own and I had been nervous to get it dry cleaned for this exact reason. It seems to have totally pilled on the entire sweater and it looks and feels disgusting. IT'S GREY NOW. Not anywhere close to the way I dropped it off, and you bet I will be in bright and early Monday morning to get compensated because this is COMPLETELY unacceptable. DO NOT take your things here. You will absolutely regret it. There is no skill, and no respect to be found anywhere near this place. This is a complete embarrassment of a business. AWFUL service, I came here to get my dress hemmed for prom. When I came to pick up my dress it had barely changed in length (it was still touching the floor) so when I asked her if she could make it shorter she said it would cost an additional $75. When I came back later that day with my mom, because bringing shoes according to her would fix the problem of my dress not having changed in length, my mom realized her cut was uneven and without charging me more she fixed it. She barely made it any shorter, but my problem was the horrible customer service and unwillingness to be reasonable. Will NEVER com back here again read more

Maybe I just had a less experienced seamstress since I see Paris Tailors has mostly good reviews. They did something unbelievable to a very expensive garment I brought in for alterations. It was a full-length alpaca coat. I needed to have it taken in slightly. Rather than re-positioning the side seam pockets, they simply left the pocket where it was and took in the side seams toward the back, leaving the pocket opening shifted so far back that I couldn't put my hands in the pockets. Very upset, very angry, since the error could not be corrected by another tailor. read more

The last time when I picked up my dress, the lady told me sorry we have to charge you $10 more (we have agreed the price when I dropped my dress), the reason she gave me is they charged me low at the 1st time. I have taken many dresses, skirts, and jeans here for tailoring, and they do an AMAZING job. I have done a fair bit of sewing, and my Mom is an expert tailor, so I understand how difficult tailoring can be. I can't believe people who bring in a cheap dress for tailoring and then complain that the work cost as much as the dress. Just try doing it yourself, and see how far you get. These tailors are amazing! I bought a custom halloween costume through the mail. Unfortunately it was poorly sewn and did not fit properly. It was only a week before the Halloween party when I got the costume so I did not know if it would be fixable in time. I took the costume here and they quickly made it better than new. It fits me and it also is higher quality now thanks to some adjustments and their creativity. Moreover, I dropped it off Friday evening and did not expect to get it until Monday night. I stopped by a fabric store to try to find some supplies to help them. When I got there Saturday morning to drop off the supplies they had already fixed it better than new. So they got it done even faster and better than originally planned. They exceeded my expectations and I'm grateful and I highly recommend Paris Tailor. read more

These folks have hemmed up all of my designer (aka: stupidly overpriced) jeans with their magic original hem method that leaves the jeans looking like nothing was done to them, but they somehow got shorter. One time out of probably 20, did I have a quibble and they fixed it fast. This time, I took in yet another pair of designer boot cut jeans and asked them to make skinny jeans out of them. They did it beautifully. The original heavy stitching on the inseam is perfect and the seams along the outseam and the inseam are both perfectly straight. It's like having custom skinny jeans! You can trust them with your favorite jeans. read more

Be careful. Be very careful! I know mistakes happen, but these folks will never take responsibility. I experienced both cleaning and alteration mishaps, and in both cases gave Paris Tailor the benefit of the doubt. The first experience occurred over a dress with a lining that needed shortening. When I picked up the dress, the lining had been attached incorrectly making it impossible to put the dress on. They fixed the problem but only after I agreed to pay for a new alteration. A cleaning mistake on a silk shirt rendered the shirt unwearable; again, not their fault. Next I brought a new, never worn dress in to be shortened and when I picked it up I discovered that the new hem was filthy (I assume the dress had been dropped on the floor and dragged.) They explained that I had brought it to them that way. Needless to say I've not been back since. read more

I had passed this place many times and decided to stop by with a new pair of lucky jeans that needed to be hemmed and taken in. The eight dollar price tag on hemming was very appealing. I picked up my jeans a week later and was not at all impressed with the results. the hem they stitched was very wide and, though my jeans had the typical goldenrod threat that many designer jeans have, they were unable to match the color. Though the length had been adjusted, the jeans were far too wide, wider even than when I had bought them, so much so that it seemed that they had not taken the jeans in at all. If you're looking for a place to get a pair of expensive jeans hemmed, try a different spot because paris will make your designer jeans seem average. read more

Great place for your basic tailoring needs. Hems, hole fixes, button repairs, and more. They only accept cash though so come prepared when you pick up. Decent pricing too, I think, for this area. Good turnaround time as well. Button repairs, for example, they will often offer to fix while you wait, so you don't have to return. Definitely my go to tailor shop! read more
