Good service -- quick, easy, and they have fair prices, too. I trusted them with my wedding gown, as well as several lowerstakes items

Tuyet Minh cleaners *used* to be a good place for cleaning & tailoring/clothing repair. This has not been the case for many many years! Tuyet Minh was a very nice & charming lady, who always greeted her customers with a warm smile, and had GREAT prices as well! A few years ago, as she approached her mid-70's, she retired and sold the place to some punk Vietnamese lady. She always has a grimace on her face, provides miserable customer service, and has raised prices, but I still went out of habit., HOWEVER, NO LONGER! She lost a very expensive fine merino wool sweater brought in to repair the shoulder seam. She alleges that she sent it to the dry cleaners, despite being EXPLICITLY told not to. THEN, she refused to go to the dry cleaner shop to retrieve the sweater. Instead she asked me to come back another day. REALLY?! *I* should be inconvenienced for her error!? Plus, she put someone else's laundered shirt in my order. So, check what she hands you, because she certainly doesn't, and could care less!! Best to give your business to those who deserve it. Avoid this establishment, there are many other shops to choose from who actually appreciate your business, and make an effort to provide good service - not here! read more

I like this tailor a lot. She has a lot of experience with a wide variety of clothing. Western clothing like suits chinos etc. but also Indian clothing such as kurtas pajamas saris etc. also very fair prices for both tailoring and dry cleaning. Great quality I recommend read more

Had some pants hemmed, nothing too tricky. They fit each pant and hemmed to the length I preferred. It was done well, turned it around pretty quickly and they even took Apple Pay. :) Nice business. Will be back for other things! read more

She is very fast, with great experience having worked in theater making costumes! Also very friendly

Not sure why the owner/tailor treated her customer differently. She was super rude and unhappy. The service was mediocre and pricey. Won't come again. read more

In a town where every other shop is a dry cleaners; Tuyet Minh really stands out for their super friendly service and small town feel. I've been using their dry cleaning and tailoring services for 7 years now and have never had a bad experience. They remember you; ask about you and your family...generally make you feel appreciated. Good prices, freindly service, late hours make this the place I keep coming back to. Cheers! read more

Tuyet Minh Tailor - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Los Altos, California

I recently used the alterations service for a dress, which was really complex because it involved elastic. I was really happy with the result, she helped me to understand and determine how much needed to be taken in. The pricing was fair in comparison to other tailors that I visited before making this my final decision. She even brought the dress to me, a block away! read more

My daughter recently got married and had her wedding dress altered here. Thuy, the lady that helped alter her dress did such an amazing job, we couldn't be more pleased. The price is pretty reasonable and the work is on par with other alteration places around the Bay Area. We ended up getting our wedding evening gowns altered there as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

The best. The husband and I have had numerous pants gemmed. I recently had a kimono shortened. Attention to detail is remarkable. Warm friendly staff when being fitted. read more

I've been coming here for a number of years since I was in middle school for pant hems and dress alterations. They do a fantastic job, and are very sweet with accommodating to my schedule! Prices are also amazing (about 8 dollar hems), because in this area you are normally looking at 15+ dollar hems.... why a hem would ever cost 15 is beyond me.... My sister also had Tuyet make an animal print halloween costume one year-- she came in with fuzzy fabric and a crazy vision, and Tuyet executed!! It came out awesome at a great price. If you build a relationship with the store, they will go above and beyond for your loyalty :) read more

Last week I brought a prom dress to Tuyet Minh Tailor for alternations ( to shorten the hem and shoulder straps). They did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place. read more

Let me warn you, I am writing this review while in the state of frustration. I chose Tuyet Minh Tailor for 2 reasons - 4 stars on Yelp and more importantly, I needed a place close enough to work for me to pop into. Unfortunately, I've been let down on two separate occasions. I came with two of my coworkers the first time (we each had a few dresses to alter). For me, I got the length of three short dresses altered, length of one slip, and sleeves on a dress for a total of $85.00. The lady asked for the three of us to come back in a week. We came back the following week and everyone's dresses were ready except mine. Grr. The lady asked for me to come back the following day - which I had no choice but to do - so I agreed with the promise that she could adjust the straps for me on one of the dresses due to the inconvenience, as well. I returned the following day and the dresses were ready (yay) but the lady had the nerve to ask me to pay for the strap alterations (value of $5). I refused and she said "OK fine". My shopping addiction and petite size brought me back to Tuyet Minh Tailor, purely out of convenience. I'm going out of the country in a couple days and needed my dresses altered, but with not much time in the day, I decided to give this place another shot. This time, I got the length of three short dresses altered for a total of $55. She told me to return anytime on Wednesday (today) after 5pm. I showed up at 5pm today and they were not done, again. Despite having a convenient location to me, this place has been more of an inconvenience. Price - 3 stars (They seem to upcharge for every small change, even though it's not that much different) Quality - 2.5 stars (None of the dresses I got altered with detailed or extravagant, all very simple so it's hard to say.) Service - 2 stars Hopefully my review won't sabotage the quality of work I receive on the dresses when I pick them up tomorrow! read more

I seriously think these guys should be charging more for their work because it is AMAZING! A sequenced ball gown, a wool pant suit and a couple of shirts to tailor were my items. All were perfectly done and returned to me within the week. They are fantastic. Save them onto your phone. I live in Sunnyvale and could go to other places closer to home, but these are the guys I trust. read more

For some reason, although I am a statuesque 5'3" my pants always seem to be too long. Tuyet Minh Tailor is a lifesaver in hemming up all those too-long-for-life pants for only $8.00 a pair! What a steal! The only downsides are that this place takes a few days to get the pants ready, and it's cash only. Once they let me take my pants and come back later to pay -- I thought that was pretty rad of them, but I wouldn't count on that again, and make sure to have bills on hand when I visit. read more

I've been taking clothes to Tuyet for alterations for several years. She's and her staff of seamstresses have always done an excellent job and re-worked something if it wasn't right the first time, without any additional charge. I've brought her many very expensive clothes to alter, and she's always done an excellent job. I've also had her make new (copies) of jackets, suits and ball gowns from samples I've brought in. If the work is extensive, it can get pricey (but would get pricey with anyone) but Tuyet's work has always been excellent and done on time - even when I've pushed her to get it done faster than her estimate. She's also stayed open late if I had to pick up something that night and was running late. Very professional and a very nice lady. Her english can be so-so at times, but her knowledge of clothes and best ways to fit/alter them is excellent and she has a very good eye for fitting. I drive all the way from Fremont to get to her shop because its always been worth it. read more

We often joke that that there are at least a dozen cleaners in the short four blocks of downtown Los Alto. But we picked this one and have been coming here for years now. They are very friendly, do a good job, especially on alteration. Price is very good as well. We love this place and have referred our friends here to get alteration done. read more

I bring my clothes here for her to sew and every time it's ready for pickup it's always been a problem. What's the point of measurements if you don't go by them and even if I bring a shirt in for the exact measurements it's never the same. It's always big and looked like she rushed it. I would never go back. read more

This cleaners is family run with everyone getting involved. They are incredibly friendly and hard-working. The prices are great, but most importantly they do an excellent job. We've got to know them over the years, and they've got to know our family. We never need our ticket for pickup as they recognize us walking in and know us by name. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I came here because they happen to be the most convenient to my location and I had also read a decent review on them. Good customer service. Friendly. Great price, $8 for a pant hem compared to the $12 I was paying where I lived before. The only complaint I have is that it took them 3 days to do a VERY simple pant hem. They also do not accept credit or debit cards. CASH or CHECK only. This was a bit of a bummer since I prefer to use my debit card. read more

When every other tailor was charging $10 to hem pants, Tuyet Minh was charging $6. Hot! and, yes, that included both legs! Unfortunately, there must be some relation between the price of gas and alterations, cause it now costs $8. Still one of the cheapest places around, and in Los Altos, who would have thought!?! They do a solid job for both jeans and suit pants. They will reattach your jean hem if you want for a few extra bucks and can have it ready in less than a week. You can't go wrong. (unless you forget to bring cash and can't pay! - they don't take plastic) read more

I go to Tuyet Minh Tailor for alterations and they're very friendly, very knowledgeable, and have a really quick turnover time. They mostly do the hems on my jeans. Original hem is the cheapest in Los Altos ($16) and having them do their own hem is only $8. I recently took a pair of dress pants there to hem and was surprised that it was $8! I picked it up a couple of days ago and it looked great! My mom also takes some of her clothes here to get them taken in and we haven't experienced any problems with them so far. All in all, this is a pretty reliable alteration and dry cleaning place -- the best and cheapest in Los Altos downtown! read more

WARNING - their drycleaning service has ruined a couple of expensive dresses and in general, is not good. They send their drycleaning out to another merchant. BUT, their alterations are quite good. Sure, the pant hemming is cheap, but other things can be outrageous. I have decided not to do a couple of things because of the price they wanted to charge me for it. Still, if you want something done right, they are very good. read more

First time I brought my once-worn shirt there, they managed to ruin it with some rusty stain on the collar and refused to acknowledge it. It took them 15 minutes to find the shirt despite the receipt. When I spotted the stain and asked for an explanation, they just kept making excuses after excuses and refused to have it washed again. It ended when they reluctantly tried to stuff $2 in my hand and sent me out the door. Ridiculous. Pick any dry cleaner in Los Altos but never this one. read more

This team nails it every time! It is cash only, but payable upon pickup. They are super professional and will tailor your items to the most specific need. They match the thread color almost exactly, every time. I have had them tailor different cuts for my dress shirts, hem-then-re-sew original cuff onto jeans, take-in pants, mend tears and rips, re-sew buttons, and shorten sleeves. They do a great job and impress me consistently. And although they are no longer a convenient location for where I live and work, but I still keep making the trip because it is worth it! read more

For some reason I always have problems with my dry cleaners. Tuyet Minh is my new cleaners at the moment. Sure the people there can barely speak English (universal sign language is what I use) but they are friendly. Sometimes they can't get the stains out, but they always try to do their best and for $1.30 a shirt my husband's happy. They accept cash only. read more

Beware of their dry cleaning! They offered to dry clean my silk duvet cover, after sewing a torn seam. They did good work on the seam, but their dry cleaning RUINED the feel of the silk. They got the stains out, but it also appears that someone put the cover through a washing machine. The silk now feels like crusty old cotton that has been sitting in the sun and rain for a decade. I wish I had inspected it before I took it home. read more

Just got back from Tuyet Minh Tailor so this is fresh on my mind. Pretty frustrated now after I took two shirts back to them because they damaged the buttons on the collar of my dress shirts. When I showed them the damaged buttons they said yes, the shirts are done by machine and the machine often breaks buttons. Remember, these are collar buttons and the sharp edges of the broken buttons can pinch! When I asked them if they had replacement buttons they said no, they did not. Now that's pretty odd for a laundry/tailor combo.... usually most shops have plenty of replacement buttons. Then they looked elsewhere on my shirts for replacement buttons. Finding no "extra" buttons, they suggested taking a button off my sleeve. That obviously does not work. Then they suggested I myself find a button to replace the two that they had damaged. When I replied that it was not my job to find replacement buttons for the ones that THEY had damaged, they said I should understand that they charge less for their work so I should expect some damage from time to time. Uh, no I don't. Probably don't need to say that I will not be taking my shirts back there again, do I? Really disappointed in the quality of their work and the casualness of their service. And a little suspicious of an "all cash" shop in this day and age. Makes me wonder if they are paying their "fair share"....... read more

This place is great! I come here for both tailoring and dry cleaning and their prices are an amazing bargain, especially for this area. I recommend them to all my friends! They're really fast, you can always park right outside the store and run in and out quickly. They have great service and do an amazing job with both the tailoring and the dry cleaning I've sent their way. Highly, highly recommend. read more

We've been coming here to launder and dry clean clothes, but rarely for their alterations. I have a wedding that I'm attending and my bridesmaids' dress needed severe alterations. The custom made dress needed to be taken in several inches (due to recent weight loss). Imagine the gown, a long ball gown with beading all over the top. I was trying to avoid the alteration because I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg in this one time wear, but it was just so big that I had no choice. So I brought it on, and they quoted me the project on the spot. 2 weeks later, I picked up the gown and it fit perfectly! Many thanks to the individual who made the adjustments and maintained the integrity it's the gown! read more

Great service, fast, reasonable. Only drawback is no credit cards.

Love this place! They're super nice and incredibly fast. Hemmed my son's pants in an hour on a Saturday afternoon.

I've been getting my alterations and repairs done here for the last year or so. They seem very professional and experienced about their work. Their cleaning services are very reasonably priced as well. If there's a downside, it's the relative inconvenience. Cleaning seems to take a bit longer than other places, and even though 9am is their official opening time (which is already later than other cleaners), I've given up showing up at 9 in the morning only to find them still closed. read more

Lost my husbands pants. It took weeks to get any answer out of them. The pants happen to go to a suit that was very expensive. Be careful. read more

I have no idea if they are good at tailoring or not but their customer service is appalling. I brought in a dress to be shortened. Easy job. They asked when I needed it. I told them and they said no problem. I arrive to pick the dress up and it is not ready. And I need it today...now.... No "I'm sorry" but a shrug. I will not be going back....other to pick up my dress when it is finally ready. read more

Such sweet people and excellent customer service ! They provide such great service and added bonus is the very reasonable prices. They have a quick turn around time do an awesome job with hemming and simple tailoring. Street parking right in front of the store is another bonus. read more

The people here are friendly and I'm pleased with the alterations they did on five pairs of pants. Their prices are good but if you are an impatient person, you may want to find another tailor - the pace in this shop is more human than the "rush rush" outside their door. Strongly recommended. read more

This tailoring shop seems a little on the pricey side, but they do impeccable work, and if you ask for them to get your stuff done in a hurry for a special occasion, they can speed things up a little too. They are very nice and I referred my doctor here, he wanted to have one of his suits altered and he said he was very impressed (and he's a fussy guy!) I've had suits custom tailored, and I've had coats and pants cut down after losing weight and they did a terrific job. read more

Wow - dropped a complicated romper (one piece shorts and long sleeve top) off in the morning, and she had it ready that day. She was flexible and gave me a cheaper option to fix the top part of it, but then ended up doing the more expensive fix for me at the same price. So sweet, and I love the outfit! read more

My wife has been coming here for years for alterations. Always great service and qreat quality.
