I have been using Kim since 2001, and she has always given me the very best service. Her quality of work is outstanding and considering that, I feel that her prices are fair. I definitely recommend Kim, because of what she had been able to do for me. Rosemary H read more

I've been coming here for nearly 20 years. Kim usually does decent work but a few recent experiences have me questioning her integrity. I've brought in plenty of pants for tapering, shortening, taking in the waist, etc. Last winter I brought in pants that were off the rack and a little long with a 32 length. As usual, I tried them on with shoes and Kim helped measured the length to shorten and I picked them up a week later. Super quick process. I didn't try them on at pickup since I had a lot of work done by her previously so I had no reason to doubt her work. Unfortunately I went 3 months without wearing them but when I did, they were still far too long so I had to bring them in again. I explained the situation and when she examined the pants, she told me it was still the factory stitching so there wasn't any work done by her or any other tailor. I was surprised by that, and that she didn't recognize her own work. I assured her I brought them in just a few months prior. When she remeasured the length, she marked to pants to shorten another 1 1/8 in. She said that she always cuts the length requested by customers and so it was my fault and had to pay again for work on the pants. I have all my pants around 29 inseam so this obviously was not accurate and rather annoying she tried to blame me for the incorrect length since she was the one who previously measured. I needed them done so I went ahead. I didn't want to leave a review about this but the following experience was embarrassing and needed to share. I recommended her shop to a friend who needed to shorten the length of 2 curtains but had a horrible experience. At pickup, Kim casually mentioned that 1 of the curtains were already damaged at drop-off and that she decided to do a free patching for the damage. My friend was not notified of any damage prior to pickup, and furious there wasn't any sort of communication. She couldn't even return the "already damaged" curtains because of Kim's unilateral decision to patch the hole. I felt responsible so I sent my friend $600 to cover the cost of curtains. If there was truly damage already, why wouldn't you inform the customer first to decide options?! This used to be my go to tailor but it's now on my blacklist. read more

A long overdue review. For reasons involving family that I won't get into, my partner and I decided to get married on a certain date that was only 3 weeks out from when we made the decision. It was a small and simple wedding, but it was still a LOT to get done in 3 weeks. I found my wedding dress in the first week, but that meant I had 2 weeks to get it altered. I called 6 places that all just about laughed at me when I told them I needed a wedding dress in 2 weeks. When I called Kim, she said she'd do it and she did. She did a beautiful job with it, and even did something that was a bit complicated that she said she wouldn't have time to do. She promised to have it to me by Thursday afternoon, the day before the wedding, and it was done that morning. I wasn't sure which bra would work with the dress once it was altered so I brought 4 options, and she helped me try the dress on with each one even though I know she had other things to do. Overall, a great experience. I've also brought a few pairs of pants to her and got a really quick turn around with those as well. read more

Kim did an amazing job on my wedding dress! She did exactly what I asked for! I was going for a really tight, body forming, mermaid dress. This dress was really big on me, I was swimming in it, my glutes were nonexistent before the alterations. I added a picture of what it looked like when I bought it. No matter the cost, definitely worth it and would go to her again to have these amazing wedding photos. read more

I want to update my review and reaffirm that this location is legit. At last my search is over when it comes to an alteration specialist. Going here I don't feel judged by the items I bring in, small or large. Kim is professional and fast. The items I've brought in recently were complicated fixes. I was told by 2 other seamstresses that it couldn't be done. Well not at The Perfect Fit, they are like my fairy Godmother, they said yes! So I get to keep these articles of clothing....yay!!!! The items: -1 dress - that was too small. I purchased fabric from Joann's that complimented the dress, Perfect Fit was able to enlarge the dress in the arms and chest area. I'm over the moon about this. -1 jumpsuit- 2 sizes too big. They will bring in the crotch area, so it won't be baggy. -1 pant- too small. With extra fabric, they'll add more width. -1 sweater - too low in the shoulders. Brought up the shoulders to make a beautiful pleat in the arm. I like buy my clothes at thrift shops or online (eBay, ThredUp, Poshmark). Sometimes I find something I love that doesn't fit. This is where having an excellent seamstress comes in handy. The cost does add up, so I only bring in items that I know I'll wear for years to come. read more

Kim is an artist! I've been bringing all different garments to her for the past couple years, from denim to my wedding dress. She's done a fantastic job with every single one, and charges a fair price. Always takes time to pin and measure, and is honest about what she can achieve. My wedding dress was challenging and she only needed one round of alterations to make it perfect. I definitely recommend you bring your clothing to Kim for all your tailoring needs. read more

Found Perfect Fit to alter my daughter's prom dress. Came in for "fitting" with dress and shoes on March 12. Returned for altered dress on March 31. Looks beautiful!! The perfect spot to get the perfect fit! We recently came by here to get my fiancé's suit tailored for a wedding we had to attend in May. We came around mid-April on a Friday afternoon, and were seen immediately. It took maybe 5 minutes for Kim to measure the sleeves of the suit jacket and length of the pants to our liking. The turn around time was approx. 3 weeks, which isn't too terrible considering it was also prom season and they were pretty swamped with other orders. Cost was fairly reasonable as well- about $75 total for the suit jacket and pants. We had called a few other tailors and got similar quotes. We picked up our order on the agreed upon date and the suit was tailored very nicely. Kim hit the mark and totally nailed it! We'll definitely be coming back here for other items we need tailored. read more

Kim helped us out a few years ago with a suit alteration among other things. Now we live farther away but make the journey to Perfect Fit because of Kim's quality of work. I just had her lengthen the sleeves on an otherwise magnificent bathrobe and I genuinely would say that Kim's work is nothing short of magic. Highly recommended and friendly service too (",) read more

I have been coming here for over 7 years and they rarely ever disappointment. Out of the 10 jeans i've brought in, only 1 did not satisfy me in terms of tailoring. This was my fault as I did not provide clear instructions and left it to the owner. So no blame on her. Overall, this is the place to go. She's friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. I still plan on coming back! read more

Kim helped tailoring my wedding dress and my husband's suit for our wedding. It was a relatively quick turnaround and the price was more than reasonable. Starting from coming in for the appointment, measuring all parts and consulting in detail, to handing us the altered clothing, Kim was helpful and pleasant to work with. I will continue going to Kim to get future dresses and clothes tailored. We highly recommend visiting! read more

For my first visit, I took my high school prom dress here; tailored perfectly. Ten years later, I had two pairs of pants I needed altered. One came out perfect, the other was WAY too short. Kim tried to fix it, but it was already cut too short--at least 1 or 2 inches too short even with leeway for a misunderstanding. She gaslit me instead of apologizing, insisting that I had requested this length (absolutely no way). In the end, it's her word against mine, but I'm the one out fifty bucks in tailoring fees, with the ugliest most unwearable pair of capris, and with a bad taste in my mouth. Bye! read more

Reasonable, friendly, flexible, and most importantly, she knows how to alter. Honestly, what more can you expect from an alterations place. In fact, if the place is beautiful and they have excellent customer service but ruin your clothes it probably wouldn't work out. With that said, even though this place isn't the most beautiful place, she knows a lot about stitching. Hence, I recommend!! Also, if needed, the turn around is very fast. She is very busy and has a lot of alterations, but she will make it happen!! I know this because my sister brought her wedding dress in with only a few weeks to spare! I have to admit, I haven't been to any other alteration places, so I have no comparison, but it worked for me! read more

The Perfect Fit - Little area to try your clothes on~ - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - San Jose, California

I just moved to the area and am petite so finding a good tailor is a necessity. I had trousers and a wool pencil skirt to take up - both very thick fabrics and she did a wonderful job! She is easy-going, sweet, and diligent. They were quite busy when I picked up but I didn't mind the wait one bit. I'm excited to have found my new go-to tailor. read more

Kim is awesome! Needed my wedding tux pants hemmed and the turnaround time was quick. Highly recommend.

I've been to a lot of tailors in my life, and I'm incredibly picky, and Kim is by far the best. Been coming here for 5 years now, and she really knows what's she's doing. I've had dozens of items tailored here over the years including pants, shirts, suits, sport coats, and overcoats and I've been happy with the results. I've even had her do some pretty serious alterarions, and was blown away by the outcome. I won't take suits or anything expensive anywhere besides here. Even though I live in SF, this is still my go-to tailor. A few notes. It's cash only, so bring cash. Also prices are higher than your dry-cleaner tailor, but the quality and craftsmanship is also so much higher. It's worth it. Also, Kim has TONS of knowledge, so if you have questions about her suggestions or want something different or specific just chat with her and she'll make it happen. read more

Overpriced. I got a quote from here and another tailor near valley fair mall and the difference was so much. These people were charging more than double and didn't even sound confident they can alter it. I used to come here often and have since switched tailor. read more

The service here was flawless. I brought in a dress that was sewn a little too tight. The sewing of the dress wasn't well done and I really hoped I could get it fixed. Kim was pro-active in suggesting areas she could let out and how to make the dress fit comfortably. The turnaround time was also amazingly short. I thought it would take a week from the Wednesday when I dropped it off but by the next day, she'd already made adjustments and asked if I could come wear it so she would know if she needed to make more adjustments. I was able to pick it up in about 3 days. The pricing is abouthigher than the other alteration shop I go to. But for the fast delivery and attention to detail, I think it's worth it. I'm really impressed with the service! I highly recommend doing alterations here. read more

I dropped into Perfect Fit hoping to have the seams fixed on a couple pairs of pants. The price quoted ($20 for two pants) seemed rather high, I've gotten similar done at other stores for around $5-7 each, so I was excited that perhaps her quality would be even higher than I was used to. After picking up my items, I wasn't blown away. One pair still had loose thread from the prior seam poking through, the other looked great but I'd been told it would cost more because the zipper had to be worked with. In checking the changes they looked rather simple and under the zipper. It was when I tried on the second pair of pants at home I really found the issue - she'd sewed the pocket to the crotch in re-seaming it. Luckily I don't use my pockets so I was able to cut it - but seriously? I paid $20 for this? Service was friendly, but I just don't feel it was worth what I paid and seeing as she's not close to me I probably won't come back. I've still never found anyone as amazing as the shop in Union Square in SF - but I'll keep on trying! read more

The prices here are on the higher side, but I don't think I would trust anyone else with important pieces to tailor. Kim tailored my sister's wedding dress and I recently had her tailor my own wedding dress, too. I have also brought in multiple pairs of pants to hem and take in. Kim is quick and precise, honest in a blunt motherly way, and completely knows what she's doing. She helped me find lace to match the exact color and style of the lace on my dress, and she squeezed in a last-minute, slightly panicked request just a week or two before my wedding, even though she was busy with prom dresses. Because of Kim's tailoring I felt that I had the perfect dress for me, and was over the moon with it on my wedding day. read more

The Perfect Fit - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - San Jose, California

I used Perfect Fit for my wedding dress alterations. Owner/seamstress Kim was very friendly and easy to get ahold of by phone to schedule an appointment. I was happy with my alterations which were minimal - cups sewn in, a bustle, and shortening of the dress. It may have been just a teeny bIt over-shortened (Kim said it was because my booty grew in the couple weeks between appointments) but I thought it was fine because I didn't want to trip over my dress when walking down the isle. These simple alterations cost me $320 after tax. The price of course depends on the dress material/layers/amount of adjustments made- I know it can run up to $800. There are definitely cheaper places around but I did not want to worry about getting my wedding dress ruined so I came here for the peace of mind. After my dress was altered, my maid of honor made sure to come to the shop so that Kim could teach her how to bustle my dress for the reception. Kim showed my MOH how to use safety pins in several spot to pin up my dress. My MOH followed the drections (we even had made a video of Kim doing it to make sure she'd know to do it correctly). However, the pins didn't do the job of holding up the dress and I was having a really hard time constantly stepping on my dress during the first dance (and the rest of the night), I think Kim did not consider that the pins woud slip through the lace as they did. I wish she would have sewn in more bustles (even if it would have cost me more) or suggested a more relaible way to bustle my train so that it would have actually stayed put. Overall, Kim really knows what she is doing when it comes to wedding dresses. She works quickly and confidently so don't be afraid to bring your dress here. CASH or CHECK ONLY read more

Very honest tailor and knows what is possible and what is not. I appreciate her expertise.

-- This is a review on behalf of, and written by my boyfriend -- Kim at The Perfect Fit was awesome! She was able to help me alter a pair of raw selvedge denim to my specifications. She first hemmed the length, removing about 2.5 inches from the inseam. She was also able to taper from the knee down, shortening the leg opening from 8.25 inches to 7.5 inches. She maintained the selvedge by making the alteration from the inseam, rather than the outseam that most of the other places said they would do. Your inseam will only have a single stitch, vs. a double -- and that is the only downside. If your jeans already have a single stitch on the inseam, it will look factory. I think it looks better that way anyway. I've also brought a 2-piece suit here in the past, which was tailored to perfection. I'll be coming back to Kim with any of my alteration needs! read more
