This location mimics Pearl City Wal Mart. For a grand opening day, I can't say there was anything to write home about. To be fair though, I did go in the evening, so perhaps the bulk of quick slasher prices were during the day. But in the evening visit, NADA! same old typical wal mart prices. It was still crawling with people late at night. Selection wise, they do have alot of merchandise than Im normally used to seeing in any wal mart. Nothing to get excited about. It's just Walmart. Nice from the outside because it's new, but looks like the Pearl City one inside. I don't know what else to write. I didn't even find what I was looking for inside this Walmart. I am a target girl all the way. I'm just not a huge fan of Walmart (That may even be an understatement). The only reason I go to this Walmart it because of the location and occasionally they have something I need where this is the closest location. One positive about this location is the parking lot is nice and big and never really seems crowded. I also like that this Walmart doesn't feel ghetto. I really don't find the prices that much lower on most products, which doesn't make shopping at Walmart a priority. read more

I give this location 4 stars. I took away a star mainly for its cleanliness-I walked into the restroom only to find that 3 stalls were clogged! (Gross!) and when I finally found a decent stall the entire roll of toilet tissue was left ON TOP of the dispenser, I'm a germophobe and do not want to know how many dirty hands have touched that thing, so I went to another stall to see if I could grab some from its dispenser and I quickly found out that ALL stalls had empty dispensers and that their rolls were all left ON TOP :( ... (it's as if the janitor got lazy halfway) so I just decided to wait till I got home to do my business. I told the first employee I saw about the dirty restroom and she apologized and proceeded to find the janitor to make sure the issue would get resolved soon which was nice. Other than that the customer service is quite alright, I get an occasional "hello" or "can I help you?" but most of the time when I actually NEED help an employee is literally nowhere to be found, but that's always the case in any store right? The parking is endless which is nice. And it's in a very convenient location not too far away from restaurants if you're feeling hungry after doing your shopping. read more

Kapolei walmart is better than most oahu walmarts but it's on based on hot climate and they have jackets and Winter gear in a climate that is hot All your round things out of stock all the time at every Walmarthas at least some (alot) in every department. If you ask management they say supplying is done by computer and sales made from the cash registers so if computer doesn't order stuff luck though locals might buy it up the tourist buy more things so locals are stuck. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this place as a drove past here to go back to my Resort. I was like, "Holly Crap!!! Warren Buffet made it all the way here too!!!" lol Super convenient and everything I needed to make my stay here even better without breaking the bank. I bought a whole lot of booze for the room, and all the toiletries that I had totally forgotten to grab on my way out the door to the airport. Best part is that this place is 24/7. I had to come back out at 2AM because we needed more snacks and to just walk the isles to see if there is anything different from what we have back home. So much fun read more

This is my neighborhood Walmart. It's one of the newer stores in the island..I've got to know the isles well, and seems to be the place I shop first when needing stuff for the house. We buy our baby food and snacks here because it's cheap. They hardly have bottle liners in stock tho. It's a hit and miss. I'm a fan of the Savings catcher! It's a cool way to get back some pennies. It doesnt even deserve one star!!! I'm disgusted by the customer service of this walmart and their food products. I've bought chips that are stale and bug infested food products like the small blue pizza dough box and different pastas. After the 3rd item brought home with bugs in it - I finally called and spoke to the Customer Service Manager. She said "ok thanks. I'll let grocery know." That's it. She said you can bring the product in to change out. I explained again that I had dumped the pasta into a pot of water when I had gotten home from the store to make when the bugs were found and floated to top of pot of water - how can I exchange that? Again she said "ok. Next time bring in and we will exchange". Maybe it's a language barrier or an outright I don't care about the customer but this is not ok. No one can afford in Hawaii to have to buy multiple grocery items multiple times; let alone fight traffic at dinner time to run back out and get it again in Kapolei especially when you live in Sea Country! My dinners were ruined 3 times and she didn't even care. Walmart doesn't care about the time and money wasted or what their nasty infested pasta boxes brought into my house. Not the best but not the worst. Clean and organized. The employees are not very friendly. On the floor they will not say hello or even ask if you need any help if they pass you. Could use more cashiers at times but at least they have self check out if you want to use it. The McDonalds is the store is super small. Rarely you'll find a place to sit because it's always busy with families with noisy kids and they don't clean the tables that often. I gave this store 4 stars because I still love Walmart Kapolei. I'm there several times a week for either dog food/treats, or some groceries. read more

On Oct.3.2020 @ 4:30PM I called Walmart Kapolei and customer service answered. I asked them I need to know if they have any 42' size ceiling fan. They transferred me to Hardware. This lady answered the phone, I told her just checking ceiling fan and prices. She said "let me put you on hold, and let me check the shelves for you" she put me on hold and never come back. I hold for over an hour and never come back,I was still on hold mode when I decided to drive to store, I showed the call how long I was on hold and still on hold to show proofs to the lady wearing yellow vest. She said she'll talk to Hardware clerk.Very annoying. Please don't put your customer on hold if you don't plan to come back. Very rude. I'm not one to write negative reviews. But this warrants the time and effort. I placed an online order to pick up at the Kapolei store. I needed the merchandise before they said time that it would be ready. I called the store to find out if I could expedite the order or if I should cancel the order and just visit the store to purchase do a traditional in line purchase. I was on hold for 30 minutes, NO ONE CAME TO THE PHONE. I called back 2 times to speak to a manager the call was disconnected. All I was trying to find out was if I could expedite the order processing time or would it be best to cancel and walk in store to purchase. I understanding that they're busy. It wasn't like I was requesting them to make me the center of the universe. I just wanted a simple answer to a very simple question. On a positive note. I finally reached a Manager by the name of, Jessica after 45 minutes of the run around and she was AWESOME! and resolved my problem. I'd say they could definitely improve on customer service. Walmart is a place that you love and hate. Its the definition of a Big Box Mainland Chain Store. Its huge, impersonal, and self righteous in its ability to offer aggressively low prices at the cost of running mom and pop stores out of business. Still, money is tight in these challenging times and there's no denying that your dollar will go further at a store like Walmart. I have encountered pricing irregularities. For instance, motor oil may be sale priced at one Walmart location while its more (or less) expensive at another. Makes me question whether I need to price shop within the Walmart chain! One big inconsistency is that they list goods in the online Website at one price and tell you that its available for pickup at a specific location, but when you try to buy it, the item may very well cost more than what was advertised online! On top of that, you can actually order an item online and pick it up at the store in person at the price that they advertised online, while if you walked over to the shelf and tried to buy it, it could well cost more! We visited shortly after the grand opening. The way the store looked from the street made us think it perhaps was still closed because there wasn't a lit sign visible. Once we turned off the road and went up a hill we saw the parking lot with several vehicles and realized it was open. We used a handicap parking stall near the entrance. The stalls in this area are set up with a walkway in between two rows. This is a great idea that should be duplicated in other parking lots. It's a lot safer to use the walkway instead of walking in the lot between two sets of vehicles which may move out at any given time. The store was clean and not very crowded. There is a small fabric department which was nice to see as it seems Walmarts are eliminating those departments in other stores. We have a Costco membership and only purchase select items from Walmart such as bathroom tissue because the packages are smaller than the warehouse store. We don't have a lot of storage space. The sales associates seem friendly. I agree with the other review that they may be a little slow and the McDonald's dining area is very small. read more

Worst Walmart ever. The cashier by the name of Tessie was arguing with me on how to get change back. Total = $3.85 I give her $10.35 because I want quarters back. She kept trying to tell me it's $0.85 cents needed. I kept telling her I want the $0.50 cents back which she didn't understand. I don't understand why you wouldn't tender the amount on the way the customer gives you change first UNLESS it's short money. This Walmart location is by far the worst with customer service. Sunday may 9 2021 i went to Kapolei walmart. A drugged up customer came up to me and said he would kill me and stab me. At first I was terrified back peddling until I came closer to another customer while the drugged up man was coming towards me. Realizing I was putting other lives in danger I took a gamble and tried to move to the most isolated area in the store so no bystanders would get hurt and fight the guy. Every worker and manager told me that man was there 3 days straight causing trouble to customers. Poor management and they don't care about customer safety. Luckily another customer got in the middle and broke whatever was about to happen up. As I was pushing forward terrified for my life with the man's hand in his pocket thinking today was a day I was gonna get stabbed the employees was making like it was my fault. Adam the store manager does not care about safety of anyone. He wouldn't give up his last name and he was cocky on the phone. I will never shop at Walmart again. I asked for the footage so I know what he looks like and walmart wanted no part of it even tho I told them I feared for my life. read more

Been to this Walmart about 5 times this past month. Service is the worst. There is a bell to ring for service in the fabric department but no one shows after 5 consecutive minutes of ringing and employees just looking at us while they walk by. Asked one of the associates passing and she said we had to just keep ringing the bell. Call the store and after 3 minutes of the phone ringing I get a person and they say they will page someone to fabrics to help me. 10 minutes later we give up. Needed powdered sugar for my pantry and there are only the self serve and 2 regular registers open with lines at all of them. This Walmart is losing money on paying these employees. After 4 weeks they still haven't restocked crafts area. Today was just the worst. If you don't have to go here don't. Spend the extra $1 anywhere else. Reading these reviews makes me laugh. Some people expect so highly of Walmart and have high expectations. Please take a chill pill. IT IS WALMART. You got there for cheap things, cheap food, etc. That's about it. You can talk about the employees all you want but the customers are not so great either. I went to Walmart today, and when ask to go with friends I go feeling like the Garfield cat being pulled in to a place I don't care for. Everything that I asked a salesclerk for, they pointed in a direction of the store. Not one of them (2) said "oh let me help you find it", The stationary and school supply section was a mess. Get to the register to checkout. The salesclerk started talking to another salesclerk, sounded personal. No thank you as we were leaving. Register service was so slow, I was able to convince myself that most of my groceries were unnecessary. Started with 15+ items and left with the 1 thing I came for. Mahalo for the generous amount of reflection time! Parking is always available. The internet marketplace is really crushing wal marts ability to compete price-wise. So I only come to if I need something quick. Overall, would come time and time again due to the location and item availability. read more

Hey nobody goes to Walmart for their customer service, but what we experienced was so weird. I was stopped by a worker before leaving the store asking for ten cents. I asked why and was told, "it's only ten cents, give it to me and you're free to go" like I was trying to steal something. After going back and forth, I realized it was because I didn't bring my own bag and was using a Walmart plastic bag. I get it, places charge for bags these days, but shouldn't that be in the transaction and not as you're leaving the store to give to some random worker? Do they turn in all their change at the end of the day for how many bags they sold? I don't get why this person has to personally collect ten cents for all the bags customers use. Just had the worst customer service experience here tonight! They were closing early for covid-19, so I walked in a few minutes before close, not realizing it was closing at 8:30, but promising to be quick. It was crazy. The employees were acting like they were going to prosecute anyone still in the store at 8:30!! They were literally not allowing people to "make final selections," but rather boldly telling me they "could not let me go further and to exit the store." Physically stepping in front of me so I could not shop!! It was awful, and I felt like I was being treated like a criminal, and I don't plan on going back. I just wanted to grab some finger paints for my kids, because they are stuck at home with covid restrictions, and I was only one aisle away and I pleaded with the employee, if I could just go grab it quickly, please, and the lady said no and I just felt so flustered and upset!! I've never experienced this before, but I'll tell you what-this crap would never happen at Target. Only at Walmart. I should have known, really. And to be clear, this was not just one employee. They were clearly guided by superiors to do what they were doing, because it was a team effort of being so rude-and that's just not okay. If you don't want customers to shop, then close the doors. Don't allow us in, and then chase us down literally 2 minutes later. I was not doing a full shop or being disrespectful of the fact that they were closing early. This walmart is not as bad as the other reviews in my opinion. Sometimes the lines are too long. My only issue is that if you buy something at 1 walmart you cant try to exchange or return without a receipt. For some reason the systems dont match up and they dont always have the same items or sku #s. read more

I asked an employee that searched on their computer for at least 5 minutes, couldn't find it in stock, then asked me if I could show it to him on my phone's browser... Weekday evenings have a lot of business with I don't know, thirty registers set up but only about five with an employee running them with long lines, including the self-checkout. 4. Spoke with Alexis and was absolutely dissatisfied with service. She was terrible, completely unprofessional and extremely poor telephone etiquette. I called three times all three time I spoke with Alexis. The first call I was put on hold for 10 minutes & then hung up on. The second call I asked to speak with management again I was asking questions and in the middle of speaking to her she puts me on hold without saying anything just cuts me off line hangs up. The third call I asked for management again she tells me their with another customer. I asked whose the manager on duty was advised manager on duty is Gordon. I asked how many managers on site she stated one. I asked for someone of authority or perhaps a supervisor she gives me attitude and tells me their on break. I ask how many supervisor's are on duty she says one. I'm seeking additional help and she doesn't even bother to assist me. I tried to explain the trouble but she cuts me off raising her voice telling me it's not her job. I told her I was going to report to BBB she says okay and hangs up on me! Alexis was absolutely no help, completely rude, and unprofessional. She didn't even try to help me. Even when I asked for her name she was smug about it. What kind if service is that? Does the company not encourage their employees to be courteous or have basic customer service skills? This the absolute worst service I've experienced. I can't imagine the kind of service portrayed from her on behalf of the company on the actual store floor to other customers. Definitely wouldn't recommend after this horrific experience. read more

This review is purely for their customer service via phone. In all honesty, I have never had worst customer service over the phone ever. For the first time ever, I'd give this Walmart negative stars. Let me make it known that I called to get a price and quantity. I have never had more worst customer service experience via phone ever. Let it be known that I had called two other Walmart locations regarding a price and quantity check for a Canon ELPH 180 in the quantity of 6 and they had no issue with verifying the price from their online and in store price. They also had no issue with confirming the number of items they had in stock. The first two locations I called only had 2 and 1 of the camera is stock. I then proceeded to call the Kapolei location. After being transferred the phone rang until it rang back and the receptionist who originally answered the phone. She transferred me again and for the second time, rang back to the original person to answered the phone. She said she was going to check on the photo department and put me on hold. After 5 mins of this horrible phone tag I finally got through to Photo. I asked a lady associate if I could get a stock check on a camera she then put me on hold and transferred me to a man, WARREN. Warren was very unfriendly and seemed like he hated that he needed to be on the phone with a customer. This is how the conversation went: Me: "Hi can I get a stock and quantity check" Warren: "A what?" Me: "A stock check" Warren: "And you're calling from...*says Company name of Caller ID*?" Me: "Yes" Warren: "And you want a stock check?" Me: "Yes" Warren: "Okay for what?" Me: "A Canon ELPH 180. I need 6" Warren: "Hold." Warren: "Okay I have the camera" Me: "How many?" Warren: "Well, I have to tell you I have 1. I may or may not have more, I can't tell you that information." Me: "You can't tell me if you have more then 1? I wanted to purchased 6 and the other Walmart's had no problem with tell me the quantity they had." Warren: "The other Walmart's weren't suppose to do that but it's company policy that I can't tell you how many I have in stock. I can tell you that I can't sell you 6" Me: "Okay, thank you." This entire phone conversation got me completely aggravated and irritated. As soon as I hung up I ATTEMPTED to call back THREE times and speak to a manager. EACH time I called and requested the next available manager I got put on hold then hung up one. ALL THREE TIMES. This got me even more furious. Walmart Kapolei is in serious need of proper phone required and how to handle stock checks with customer. I have personally worked in retail and never heard of a policy that restricted an associate with giving a stock check. I also have never encountered a more unhappy employ with servicing a customer on the phone OR have been hung up multiple times when requested to speak to a manager. Is this how Walmart Kapolei runs their business? My experience makes me not want to bring my business to Walmart and made me feel like I had no value of a customer. In all honesty, Warren's tone of voice made me feel stupid for ask for a stock check. Warren should be fired if his attitude reflects how to he values work and customers. read more
