Probably the worst Walmart on the island. So many things are out of stock consistently. Customer service is highly lacking...especially at the customer service center. I stood in line for 20 mins with only one lady in front of me. Not sure what was going on but the lady still walked away with her things. I would've walked away sooner and gone back later but the lady in back of me said she was there earlier waiting and waiting too. With one person ahead of me, how long could it take right? When I got to the cashier, she didn't say hello or apologize for the wait. My transaction took less than a minute. The store is a mess. There are often boxes everywhere and sometimes blocking the aisles. I live in Kapolei so it's convenient but oh so frustrating. read more

I've lived in kapolei for 5 years and I use this wal mart out of convenience. Sucks that they are no longer open 24hrs. This store is always out of stock on many items. Customer service is lacking from the cashiers and employees in the customer service desk area. They look so unhappy. The pharmacy is great though. Always great service and they're quick. I almost forgot my biggest complaint. The phone is NEVER answered. Don't even bother trying to call to price a product or check if it's in stock cause they never answer. read more

Great to have a Walmart in the Kapolei area. It is located on the left after you exit the freeway. The parking lot is large and plenty of empty stalls. The inside has a lot of items that the town one doesn't have. There are less people here and lines are non-existent at the checkout. Self checkout was fast. read more

After our morning workout my husband insisted that we go to Kapolei Walmart to buy bagels. My mother-in-law buys Lenders bagels here and it's one of the only places we know of that sells them. Although I really try not to shop at Walmart because (other than its long lasting effects on our local economy) I'm extremely disappointed that they've skirted the plastic bag ban, I have to say that Walmart at 7am is a dream. It's so clean and stocked full of mass produced products from China. Who's the hypocrite? (Points to self) This girl. I told my husband: "Babe, it's like the entire world died from the plague and there's just us left!" My husband replied: "And we LIVE in a Walmart?!" I just came back from this store and I was extremely upset with my visit. I purchased a half gallon of milk and when I put them on the cashier counter, I found it was leaking. I also had my 3 small children with me. The milk fridge was about 5 yards from the register, so I said I would just grab a new carton of milk. I was gone less than 15 seconds, LITERALLY. I came back empty handed because I noticed the whole row of milk were all leaking thru the cardboard. My children were gone so I asked the cashier, Jaimie if she had seen where my kids went. She said she thought they went looking for me. She couldnt even tell me what direction they went. I was upset because I was gone a matter of seconds and within eyesight, and she allowed 3 small children to wander and run away unsupervised! You would expect any grown adult to stop the kids from running out the store or wandering off!! Tell the kids, "Your mom is just right there, she'll be here in a second... Hold on, wait for your mom. Stay right here til Mom comes back.." Come on!!! That is just common sense people!! ANY Person knows you see kids unsupervised, you find out where their parents are or tell them NOT to take off from them! Funny thing is the Manager told me they have something called a code Adam or something where they dont allow kids to wander or lock down the place looking for a missing child. Really? Yet your employee lets 3 kids take off when Mom is in a direct view less than 20 feet away? The cashier ignored me and what I was saying COMPLETELY. No apology like, "Im so sorry I wasnt paying attention," or some kind of excuse or remorse. She wouldnt even look at me and was being completely RUDE!!! I couldnt believe it! Man, if thats the kind of people they hire, Im never shopping there again! I thought maybe she was in highschool and I could forgive such stupidity and rudeness, but another employee told me she was in her 20s, so it was NO excuse. As a kapolei resident i would love to come here ecspecially since i am in love with walmart and will easily spend over one hundred dollars each trip (which my hubby hates). However, i am really angered at the fact that their shelves are never stocked. I have given this location more than enough chances and each time they never have the right diapers. There are never any workers to be seen....but when you do get lucky to spot one they are totally clueless!!! I gladly drive to other locations to avoid dissapointment and to spend my money in places that value my business. Can you say BAD MANAGEMENT!! Kunia and pearl city need to help these guys out! One star for being closest to Waianae. One star for their big parking lot. And one star for fast checkout lines and reasonable prices. However I smashed the last two into one because I don't want to go any higher than 3 stars lol. A lot of products take way too long to be restocked and more than half of the employees SHOW you that they don't want to be there. When Abira would give a hard time going to bed, we'd end up at Walmart in Kunia. Honestly, despite Kunia Walmart's attempt at renovating, it still seems old and outdated. This place definitely reminds me of the Pearl City Walmart. I think that one is closer to Waipahu than Kapolei's Walmart, but there are people at the Pearl City store that I really don't care to run into and will avoid going there as much as possible. The first thing I will mention (which 1 or 2 reasons why there isn't 5 stars) is the location. It's right before the freeway..I think. Right? I am not sure. I just know that the lanes closest to it get really packed. It's a weird place to place an entrance, I think. The first thing I noticed upon entering Walmart was the McDonald's. Holy guacamole, that place is soooo small in comparison to the other McDonald's that I've seen in other Walmart's. There isn't very much seating at all. Onto the goody goody! This Walmart feels sooo clean. I guess it still has that new feeling to it, being that it just opened up this year and all :P It seems much brighter with all of the skylight ceilings. There's regular LED lights in there as well, but the two combined really makes the store more welcoming and friendly. LOL, I'm weird. The staff were all helpful. Not one of them gave me attitude or dirty looks. There's ample amounts of parking. I have not had any trouble finding parking. Each time I've gone there, I found parking within the minute. Finally, a Walmart that is not ghetto! Huge parking lot, friendly staff members, well stocked aisles, and clean restrooms! I can come here anytime to pick up last minute items, like cold medicine, birthday party stuff, and sunscreen and ice for the beach! There is a gluten-free foods section in aisle 14, too. Also, in the pharmacy section you can check your own blood pressure for free! At the customer service desk, there is a bulletin board on the right wall that displays current recall items (mostly baby items and toys). I like that there is a McDonalds in the store and the employees are friendly. But they really need to rearrange the tables somehow so that there is not so much of a cluster happening! Not feeling any feng shui here, man! There is a handicapped table placed smack dab in the middle of the entrance/exit to McDonalds. And "regular" people are always sitting at that table! My husband and I were trying to find something we had seen at Walmart and ended up going to 4 different Walmart locations with no luck. The one thing I did notice from going to 4 locales that I probably wouldn't have otherwise is that the scary shoppers eligible for www.peopleofwalmart.com are no longer at the Kunia location and are now at Kapolei. This location just looks off, it boasts about their garden center but it's not really enticing. They also seem to always be out of stock on items, not sure why but it seems to be the case for a lot of my trips to this spot. I can't say much about the customer service, sometimes we're out of luck and end up with the slowest cashiers ever and the rest of the time we don't notice if they greeted up or not. The McDonald's here sucks, it's so small and people always seems to stop and talk right at the tiny entrance. Yet we usually stop here on our way out for the cheap drink. read more

This Walmart is probably the worst Walmart I have ever been in. The shelves are always in disarray and the grocery section is almost non existent. Keeping in mind that this is Walmart, the general appearance of this store is awful. If I want a good experience, I literally have to go when the store opens which is impossible for me. Multiple times I have walked in looking for things I can find in any Walmart and after 20 minutes of looking, I MIGHT find it on the top of the shelf in the BACK. Customer Service is not Walmart's focus, I understand. However, the interaction I get with employees is less than pleasurable. Almost like I am a burden. In light of this, there was one employee that I genuinely interacted with after 10pm. She was extremely helpful and made me feel like I wasn't a hassle to her. I'm glad Wal-Mart came to Kapolei, but that's only because I live in Kapolei. It makes it much more convenient. Other than that, what can I say? It's just a Wal-Mart. I don't understand why people hyped it up that much or got so excited... The selection is better than the rest of the Wal-Marts that are on the island. The parking is better than Kunia or the one in Honolulu. The parking spaces are a bit more organized than say the screwed up parking garage in Honolulu, and the spaces are a bit bigger for SUVs or bigger type vehicles. I like the fact that after the whole Grand Opening rush, it isn't as crowded compared to the rest of the Wal-Marts. Perfect for browsing. So far, since it's new, it is clean and everything appears orderly. The organization of the store, however, is strange. Maybe it takes some getting used to. I'm not into crafts, but it's cool to see a craft section with different selections of fabrics, scrapbook stuff, paints, and even lots of vases and candle holders. The food aisle is also bigger than the rest of the Wal-Marts and there are a few fresh fruits and veggies available. The only thing that I did not like was the flooring was polished concrete, which is very slippery. Not sure why they picked that option. I see a lawsuit in the future if someone slips on liquid dropped on the floor. read more

Ohhhhh Walmart... how do I love thee? If I count the ways it'll take too long! But seriously, I love Walmart. I don't know what it is, but I just love it. I could spend hours in Walmart (not even buying anything... but just looking around!). Walmart is located in Kapolei across from the shopping center with Chili's. Right as you take the Kapolei exit, at the traffic light turn left, and BAM, you SO can't miss it on your left hand side. It is GINORMOUS!!! The parking lot is huuuuuge and there's a 'close lot' and a 'far lot'. We were able to find a pretty close spot as it wasn't that busy today around 2PM. I did notice when we were walking in that this Walmart is not 24 hours. WOW! That's a first. Perhaps that will change later. As a lot of other reviews mentioned, this Walmart is pretty much the same set up as the Pearl City location, EXCEPT, it's much more SPACIOUS! The aisle have WAY more room between them and there is quite a bit more selection and variety! I was LOVIN IT! The one area that is NOT spacious is McDonalds! Holy geez who the heck was the genius (NOT!) that designed McDonalds?! Ummm you have the registers and then seating directly behind it... so if there is a line, it goes sideways... and then you block the people sitting, and then everyone and their mama in line has a shopping cart... uhhh hellerrrrr?!?! It took a good 10 minutes to get an ICE CREAM CONE ($0.59 by the way, DEAL!)... and it was so busy and so cluttered and utter chaos! I will shut up about it now because I got my cone for $0.59! :) So they have everything every other Walmart has. Mens clothes, womens clothes, childrens clothes, baby items, electronics, food (a LOT more variety than other Walmarts), furniture, amenities, bath/bed/other home items, auto items, sporting goods, etc. Also, the garden section is redonkulousy HUGE! I was in LOVE with this Walmart! Too bad we already have one in Mililani and I can't justify driving to Kapolei when I have a Walmart that is 5 minutes away. Ooh 2 other positives. The A/C was COLD (I hate being hot or even warm... yea yea I live in Hawaii but when I'm shopping I wanna be in COLD A/C!)... AND, I was wondering why the lights were sorta 'flickering'... bright and then a little dim which I found odd. As I was shopping, I overheard a customer ask an employee about the lighting and the employee responded that the lighting was solar powered, which is why it got a little dimmer at times and then got brighter. Kudos for having solar powered lighting! All the items that I wanted were in stock. Staff was friendly and courteous. The store was very clean and well kept inside and out. They also have a pharmacy inside, vision center, money center (cash your checks/money orders etc), and this location even has a small portrait studio! (Updates at the end) First off and most important for me, I find the location of this Wal-Mart very convenient for a bus catcher. I don't have to worry about hiking up a hill which for some reason, I seem to be doing when trying to get to Pearl City, Kunia, or Mililani Wal-Mart. This Wal-Mart's right off the main strip in Kapolei. The bus literally stops either beside it or across from it. It's not just convenient for bus catchers but also for people who live on the west side, period. Sadly though, I think that because this location serves a big demographic--all of the west coast from honokai hale to makaha and also kapolei and makakilo, it's hard to keep everything stocked. I can never find the makeup I need or the brand of catfood that my cats like for that matter. Stuff I jeed just seems to always happen to be out. A few times I've come across people who are clueless about where to find something but I really can't blame them, I was asking mostly cashiers. Also, there's no more specializing in departments anymore and there's not as many associates on the floor since all of the Wal-Marts cut their hours and staff and so they stopped having as many floor staff. Now one person is assigned to many areas. Lastly, there are multiple departments where similar items are stocked so al in all I can't really blame workers when they don't know where something is or make guesses. Overall, the shopping experience has become a little bit more independent these days, though it makes sense to me. We're moving away from the times of depending on people for menial things like pumping our gas or finding our groceries. I'm glad that people are forced to do some work and find stuff for themselves these days. Personally, I'm sad that the craft section has gotten so small and there seem to be less products for each type of aisle, for example, the fake plants have been reduced to a small section, the vases used to have a whole half an aisle and those have been reduced also to a few shelves. There's not as much fabric as there used to be and sewing patterns are completely gone. All in all, this location feels a bit more spacious than the others, which I like; but I'm disappointed with items being out of stock more often than not and since I'm a bus catcher, I really want my trip to be worth it. On the plus side, I like the people that work here I think more than at the other walmarts so.... my new opinion is 4 stars because the service and kind encounters improve my experience. read more

I'm not a big fan of Walmart , but I got a gift card from christmas I had to use ... with that said I went in there to buy some picture frames an of course I didn't get any help trying to get something on a riser an omg while I was standing in line about to check out the cashier didn't once ask how everything is or thank me for waiting 15 mins while she get. Problem resolved with the customer before me with a manager ... the least she could have done is say I'm sorry I'll be right with you !!! No all we did was stand there waiting for her & the shift manager to acknowledge us an say I'll be right with you ... I recently went to the Walmart in Kapolei. And all my previous encounters with the staff in the store they've been following the protocols established for COVID-19 all the way through. It was very disappointing today to go in and see a number of staff either not having masks on and walking around talking to people or taking their mask off when talking to someone and not keeping a social distance. It's up to all of us both in business and ask patrons to follow the rules. I would hope that the Walmart Staff and Kapolei would do that so we don't continue to spread this virus. Don't go to this Wal Mart if you actually wanna buy something. All the shelves are always empty, and whenever you ask a associate for something they always say it's in transit. Toy department is always a wreck, toys all over the place. Lines are always long because they only open like four registers out of the 20 something they got. Two great part of this Walmart location is that I don't have to drive to Kunia and my bank is inside! Bathrooms are terrible and the same stall has been broken for months. It's nice when employees come over when they see you searching for a product, but at times I feel like I need to search for an employee to get a product. One good improvement was adding a nail salon, between the restroom and vision center. But a Walmart is a Walmart, you get what you see. So unorganized and unprofessional! I needed to Pierce my daughters ears and the lady that works behind the counter kept telling me she can Pierce it but She's not authorized. She tells me to come back the next day to Pierce it with 2 people. First off,there isn't 2 people there is barely 1! It's safer to pierce one ear at a time,because the baby can move and you can tear the other ear lobe if the baby moves. Kunia Walmart gave me such good information, they do it one by one because it's more safer for the child. I rather take my money there,also I would rather put the safety of my child into people who are professional. This isn't the only problem here. There are many problems which I hope will be adjusted soon. They will lose out so much money! read more

The store just had their Grand Opening. The format of the floor is just like the Pearl City location. As you enter, Mcdonalds is on the right side. It looks really small and there arent many tables for people to sit at. I went during the evening and it still was busy. It felt really warm inside too! I think a bunch of the cashiers needed a little more training. They had many cash registers open but a lot of the cashiers were very slow. Yes, I understand that it was a new store....but for a grand opening, there should have been a manager there to "oversee" everything that was going on. I think the lack of a leader to help, actually made things run a little slow. The parking lot is big but its also too close to the stoplight, so traffic can be a little crazy! I'll visit again in a few weeks to see how things mellow out. read more

If you need some basic supplies and can't find your way to the nearby Target, this store will do. But don't let the exterior fool you: the place is as charming as a warehouse inside. The produce section is depressing. Food staples are stacked high on banged up utilitarian shelves. And we have never seen more than three registers open at the same time, meaning you might be waiting in a line of 15 people or more. A few days ago I went into Walmart around 10 pm in search of a tv, I finally decided on splurging and getting a new tv. I walked to the back where all the tv's are and had a hard time deciding the guy Kyle, was a hoot ! So helpful and friendly. But I've never experienced rude people at this Walmart everyone is nice and very helpful. So glad this one is so close to my house. Down side aid the time that they close , mostly cause I work late and sometimes I can only do things late at night and Safeway is farther of a drive then Walmart.
