The service at this store is genuinely helpful and kind. True aloha spirit. The knowledgeable and friendly man in the seafood department is so wonderful. He went out of his way to offer great suggestions for my seafood boil. He came out from behind his counter to show me different products. I really appreciated his professionalism. He clearly worked hard at his job and was conscientious about doing his best. The friendly woman helping the self checkout customers impressed me. She went out of her way to volunteer coupons to scan for the items in my cart and also told me I could get a free fresh daily baked French bread because of their 4-6 pm special. Safeway Kapolei one of our favorite markets to shop at on the West Side. Love the layout of this store. When you first enter you're greeted by their Floral Shop nicely decorated with fresh flower's, lei's, and arrangements. Lots of different balloons to help you celebrate your special occasions. To your right they put some of their Hot Specials front and center. Past the Floral department is the Produce section and then their Seafood and Meat departments. Traveling along the back aisle you'll pass the Grocery section and then on to the Dairy, Bakery, and Deli sections. Check out options are the Self Serve and In Person Cashiers. Leaving this here a few days late. But definitely wanted to shoutout Mr. Micah the Grocery Manager at Kapolei Safeway! Hes amazing! We checked out at the register & stopped on the side on the way out to check our receipt & noticed we didnt get the sale prices. Mr. Micah noticed us & took time to ask us if we needed help then proceeded to assist with the refund for the correct sale prices! I came here to shop for groceries using my WIC card. My cart consisted of WIC items and meats in the 4/$24 special. After scanning my WIC card, the cashier didn't accept it and kept telling me my total was well over $100 after WIC, even though it should've been under $30 to pay for the remainder, which was the meat. I tried to explain that she didn't accept the card but she kept repeating the same thing over and over. I ended up having to void my transaction and get back in line to scan my own items in self checkout, where my transaction rang up properly. I've shopped at this location before, including with WIC, and have never had this problem. read more

The service at the deli needs improvement! Every time I go there nobody behind the deli wants to help. And when they finally do they give you attitude. I've come here a few times while visiting friends and here are some findings. I really love the kalapana ahi poke (imitation crab, spicy mayo, eel sauce) and the first time I came to this location they mentioned they still hadn't brought it but heard it was popular in town. Next time I came it was here! But they forgot the eel sauce so it was definitely missing that sweetness. Fast forward until today and I mentioned last time there wasn't eel sauce and the poke guy said I can just ask and they will put it on the top for me! This location has their discounted bakery section by the self checkout in the front, not in the back by the other discounts. There was a long line at the open regular register so we went to self checkout and the employee that helped us was super nice! Lots of free parking right in front. This review is for the bakery. Ordered a cake three weeks in advance. I ordered a chocolate cake with fresh strawberries inside. The cake was awful. Not in taste but it was 100% dry, there was no bottom layer to the cake, and nothing to make the strawberries stick/stay in the middle (like frosting). The strawberries were also poorly picked even though it's strawberry season. They also did not follow design requests. In the picture you can see the strawberries were literally the "base" of the cake because no cake was under. You can also see how hallow/dry it was. By far the WORST cake I've ever bought. Will not be buying from here again. Paid $60 for this. read more

I will have to admit, this particular Safeway location in Kapolei would not be a location I would frequent only because it's out of the way for me, but since I was hunting for some DEALAGES at the Reyn Spooner store at the Ka Makana Ali'i Mall, I'd figured I'd stop by this Safeway for some Friday DEALAGES!!! Located at the Kapolei Shopping Center, you can find this Safeway store just next door from Mamaya. A pretty big, clean, & well stocked store. Parking here is not an issue, as it's located at a major mall. I mainly came here for some Chicken Tenders, as on Friday they had da $5.00 DEALAGES for a pound of Chicken Tenders! Yum!!! The hot foods/deli dept. was pretty efficient. Although when I originally got in line to order my Chicken Tenders, as the line grew, another Safeway clerk stepped forward & provided additional support to expedite and cut down the line. I recently discovered that inside of this Safeway location there is a DMV kiosk. It is such a hassle to stand inline at the DMV or pay your registration through the mail. Once I paid my registration online and my registration got lost in the mail This year I decided to try the kiosk at Safeway. I found that not all the Safeways offer this convenient way of paying for your registration so please look on Yelp for your best option. Clerk explained the cake maker was the only one who sees the order and didn't have the things that go in the spider man cake and didn't have the professionalism to call me and tell me it would not be ready. They tried to make it right by offering another cake which would have been fine but all the cakes were all for Mother's Day or graduation. Don't order online here. They are unreliable. read more

On November 11th I placed an online order for a Thanksgiving Meal to go. I received a confirmation for my order, along with a confirmation number and time of pick-up. To be safe, I went into the store today to confirm my order, and according to the deli workers , my order was nowhere to be found. They looked through a pile of papers, and told me later that all orders were closed a few days prior to my email confirmation!! WTH!! I feel bad for others that will be going there on Thanksgiving Day to pick up there turkey, only to be FRUSTRATED, ANGRY and WITHOUT THEIR TURKEY meals FOR THEIR FAMILIES!!! HUGE FAIL!!! Last straw. Sick of being treated like sh*t because I am light skinned. Especially when buying poke. Have been here my whole life and instead drive to Waikele usually to shop because of the treatment at this safeway. Experimented: wife is asian local - they were plenty nice to her, but super rude and dissmissive to me (light skinned hispanic) - on multiple seperate ocassions. Really insane the contrast in the way we get treated. Management needs to get rid of those sort of attitudes somehow. read more

Stopped in for some last minute items. The store was clean and the staff I asked for help was helpful and non hesitant. All of the items I needed were in stock which is a plus and I also found some other items that I actually needed. The cashier that rang me up was also friendly. Did you know after 5pm at Safeway you can get one unwarmed bread for ****FREE*** Even though they don't advertise it on line it's a little known fact directly from the employees that after 5pm the unwarmed bread in these baskets are free. They will ask for your rewards number then feel the packs of it's warm and then write it off. I feel this is a great for us who don't get assistance from the state and are struggling and to have bread for free is great especially to pair with spaghetti or soup for the family. read more

Somewhat run down, a little messy, definitely needs some updating. Products: fruits & veggies were okay - didn't seem super fresh, but also not too bad. Meat selection was somewhat limited. Much better options not too far from here so if I come to Kapolei again, definitely not visiting this Safeway. If you need to buy stuff other than groceries, go to Target. Today's experience, was the worst customer service at this Safeway branch. Combined my partner and I waited over 30 minutes to get help at the customer service counter and eventually was helped by a cashier named Dalen. I inquired if there was a manager on duty and got the managers name, and plan to follow up with the regional manager directly. I thanked Dalen once again for his help as he was very busy yet took time to come over and ensure I didn't have to wait any longer at that customer service counter. sad to say employees looked on from different cash registers and a couple walked by and no one offered to help. this is not the first substandard encounter at this location I'm hoping that this will encourage management to do better and appreciate the community that continues to shop at their location read more

I like to get flowers from Safeway. They have a great assortment and the prices are very reasonable. I found a plant that I've been looking for for a while. It was kind of pricy, but I thought I'd treat myself. The reason for 3 stars vs 5 is because when I was at the checkout, the cashier turned the survey away from me, and answered it for me. I was quite confused by that and asked him why did he answer it for me? He said it takes awhile. However, I normally do it myself. I would've checked a rating of 10 on that survey, but my opportunity was taken from me. read more

This is an older Safeway but it's a big grocery store with a nice selection of fruits and vegetables and their deli and bakery section. I love finding deals from their bakery and deli section. This is the worst Safeway on Oahu. Their deli is never is open. When the deli is open it never has stocked food, there toaster oven is always down. On five dollar Fridays. They never have enough staff so long wait in lines. Ppl order $5 chicken them leave cause 30 min wait is ridiculous, then u get unhappy customers waiting and wanting the bags that have been left behind due to these long waits. Very rude deli staff. Aunty at the register was sweet and gave me a new card with verbal instructions to go online..although my million reward cards bag was in the car and I had no time to spare to run and grab the card I have been using this whole time. I don't frequent Safeway nor this location specifically but they had a DMV kiosk which I could pay for my registration on the go which is really convenient in my opinion. Charles in the deli department was extremely helpful and even double checked with me to make sure my wife's golden classic chicken breast was cut thick enough to her liking! In all the years that I've been buying chicken breast from their deli he's the only employee that has ever double checked with me after cutting one slice to make sure the thickness was to my liking! Groceries are expensive across-the-board so I'm not going to say that Safeway is more or less expensive than the other grocery stores. I mean you might save $ at Times Supermarket but selection and cleanliness are sacrificed. I love the fact that Safeway has specials that help us at least feel like we are saving money. The parking is what is to be expected in this mall type of situation. During peak hours, you have to drive around a little to find a close stall but of course you will always find parking with patience. They have a great floral department and a nice selection of liquor and alcohol. As with any Safeway, the service it's good but of course it depends on who is working. I have waited in line for a long time but that seems to be common nowadays, especially after the pandemic had changed things for us all. I will shop here again. read more

This is for the deli section for the $5 Friday 8 piece chicken. Went to buy two bags of $5 chicken only to come to find out that the chicken has a burnt taste to it like the oil was too high heat and has this disgusting burnt to it when eaten. It was bad I threw them out. What a waste of $5. Not only that, the deli staff is horrible in communication with customers. Is there gonna be a 5 mins wait? 10 mins wait? 30 min wait? There's a line and no workers in deli addresses the long line! It's disgusting. There needs to be a better way of prepping chicken for such a high demand. All I can say is no more chicken for me! I always get my sheet cakes and cupcakes from Safeway. They are sooooo yummy. I ordered a half sheet for $46 and some change. They don't charge extra for sprinkles or lettering. The girl at the bakery said that I didn't have to pay when I placed the order I can pay at pick up for the half sheet cake. I'm not entirely sure on payment process if you order larger than a half sheet tho. But at pick up they greeted me and were very helpful. This is for the drive up service. The in-store service isn't always the best, but drive-up is the way to go. Most of the time Jesse is the one that brings me my orders and he's the best, so kind, is very mindful of how he packs your items in the car. Another person I get is a woman and I wish I saw her name tag so I can include her name in this review, she's also very nice, careful with how she puts my items in the car and always leaves with a sweet "Have a blessed day." read more
