I hate this Walmart, in the first place compared to other Walmart Supercenters around the country, this Walmart is totally backwards! It's nearly impossible to find anything due to the layout (which is much better at Rosemead Walmart). The employees are NOT friendly and rarely are wiling to help customers in the store. Also, they don't have much of a selection on most things and I haven't found the store to be very clean plus most of the time I have been, there are annoying salesman out front. Being a Walmart employee from another state. I find this Walmart very clean and well organized. The salesman, Daniel, at the Electronics Dept was very helpful even though I didn't tell him I am an employee of the company. He was very fast and courteous and knowledgeable. This store is especially annoying to Motorhomes passing through and I have even seen one security guard named Victor with a bald head harassing RV'ers and people haling trailers even though Walmart invites Rv'ers to come and shop and stay over night if need be since if you park on the street next to the store, Hamilton Road you will recieve a 90$ ticket from Duarte's parking enforcement even though their posted signs are so badly faded you can' tmake them out. as for the store beware if yu slip and fall like I did you will not compensate you for your pain or suffering as i did when i fell on some spilled soda another shopper dropped. read more

customer be aware if you decide to buy any fabric from your local store make sure you buy the correct fabric, cause it can not be return. Per the local manager according to their training previously cut fabric by their own employees can not be return for exchange or refund. She also mention that there is no policy in return fabrics because by law they only have to put electronic items like television on their policies. so surprise no returns on fabrics. read more

Like others have said, I try to avoid Walmart for various reasons. This is more a review of Black Friday, when I showed up 15 minutes past midnight when they had opened. Instead of letting people inside in staggered phases, they just decided to let all 1000 people or whatever it was in at the same time. Brilliant. You can imagine the chaos that ensued. Walmart had to hire random people just to stand around and guard the stuff covered in black garbage bags that wasn't going on sale until 5 am. That didn't deter people from trying to rip it open I guess. I joined plenty of other people in waiting for someone to come open the glass video game case, but I quickly got the feeling that the workers there didn't really want to deal with this insanity either. I contemplated waiting 1 hour+ to checkout just to get some mediocre bargain, but thought better of it and quickly fled the premises. I waited in line for Target to open at 4am and it was much more orderly and civilized. I can see how people have literally been trampled to death at Walmarts during holiday sales. First time I've ever been to this Wal-Mart... and I will never return! Not only that, but I will continue to tell every person to avoid this location! Went last night with my husband to pick up some groceries and he decided to purchase beer for himself. The cashier Ashley looks at me, then looks at my daughter and says: "I'm going to need IDs from everyone in this group". When I explained that I was not the one purchasing the alcoholic beverage nor did I drive, which would be the reason I would not have my wallet. She explains that because: "I do not have my wallet, and because I have my daughter... My husband would not be able to purchase his beverages! And my husband would not be able to come back on his own to purchase the items". When I asked to speak to a manager, she says: "Ya i'll get her for you." Rolls her eyes. Walks away, comes back after a minute and says: "uh she's coming". Katie walks and goes to the wrong register at first, then walks over. When I question the policy, she tells me: She gives me attitude says Ashley is right and: "that if you are in a group, and look under 40... They need to card every person in your group. It's Wal-Mart's policy." When I asked for the copy of the policy she started that she does not have to provide me with a copy as it is on every register. When I asked to take a picture of the policy, she states: "That it is against Wal-Mart policy to take any photos within Wal-Mart". As a consumer don't I have the right to question or request a copy of the policy?!? Like I said there at the store... "That is bullshit!" When I told them I would be contacting Corporate, Katie told me very sarcastically: "Go ahead, as a matter of fact, the number is 1-800 Walmart. Thank you!." And walked away. Had my husband been picking up items fir a BBQ the following day, and our daughter had give with him, he would have been denied picking up these items as she clearly is under the legal drinking age. As I stated before, I will never return to this location as this is the way you allow your staff to speak to your customers. Your management needs to remember something, your customers are the most important people in your establishment. Without them, you have no business. This went beyond the purchase and has been escalated because of what they think they can do. I request that you provide the Cashier Ashley and "Manager" Katie with customer service training, instead of having them roll their eyes and talk to you like you're not a customer who provides business to this store. read more

Every once in awhile I give into the temptation to put up with this place because of the low prices. However, it is a ghetto store with brain dead employees. Walmart's coupon policy is convoluted enough, but their employees don't even know how to follow it. I put up with the crowds, dirt, and parking lot only to get to the checkout line and have a "buy one get one" coupon refused for the simple reason that the checker could not scan it. Any other store would put the interest of the customer first and manually enter the coupon discount. However, Walmart's employees are unable and unwilling to do this-maybe they are trained to try to kick out as many coupons as possible. Beware the lure of low prices. read more

Okay so I went to the Walmart at Rosemead to get a plastic dip spray can and I showed them a picture that Lowes sold their plastic dip for $1.53. So their I got that product price match and I was content. However, they only had one can and so I went to the Duarte location. I showed them the same pictures or the receipt and the advertise price on my phone. The cashier said that they couldn't price match cause it needed to be an ad. Okay I can get that, unfortunately I left my receipt from the other Walmart at home. Later that day I came back with the receipt showing proof that I bought the spray can for $1.53. So the cashier called someone to price match. The lady in charge said they couldn't price match cause its another Walmart and it could have been a sale price. I explained that it was not a sale price and the whole story . She kept saying that they couldn't price match. I'm like are you kidding me so you price match other stores but you don't price match your own stores?!? Then she said that was correct. Oh my god this really got my gears grinding. I ended up not getting it. And apparently they ask for ID when your buying paint. No store or WALMART have ever asked me for my ID for paint.. I hope the store manager reads this... read more

I've had several incidents of being teased and bullied (once when I was pregnant) and have seen it done to other female customers. I stopped by this Walmart store in Duarte yesterday morning then I walked back to my car one hour later just to find out my car front passenger windshield was shattered with almost the whole piece of glass sitting on the pavement. I walked back to let the door employee in yellow vest about the incident and he told me someone would be out to meet me at my car location but no one had come after one hour waiting. I called and one police patroller came for the report within 15 minutes. The next day I called the store to speak with the manager about it but he was not there and the assistant manager told me they don't have store security patroller driving and checking around anymore because of Corporate new policy. I've been shopping at this store location for 18 years and nothing had happened and this is the first time I became a burglar victim at a Walmart property. This is the warning: if you still go shopping here, be careful where you park because there is no store security patrol anymore. This is the closest Walmart to where I live and because of proximity, I am forced to go to it when I'm in a rush. Every time I visit this Walmart I usually wind up with a headache because it is so difficult to find merchandise and the lines are always long. At this Walmart it is never an easy in and out experience. The cashiers are hit and miss. More times than not, they are unfriendly and their appearances lack professionalism. When I go to a store I expect people to look and act professional, even if it is a Walmart. Sometimes there are side conversations happening when I am being helped. I wish that management was a little more strict about their policies. On the flipside, I have had some very nice people assist me. Another reason for my frustration is that there are not enough people on the floor to assist if I cannot find something. If I can plan ahead, I would rather go to the Walmart in San Dimas. I had the worst experience here with the rudest cashier at the self checkout stand. My debit card got switched to one with a chip. I guess you can't use the paying machine the same way by swiping the card. The rude cashier lady "DIANE" proceeds to tell me to insert my card and leave it in after I re scan all my 20+items. So I did. The machine was giving me an error message. I flagged her down. She yells with the rudest attitude " you're suppose to leave the card in. "Which I did and was still in there. As she storms my way she's giving me attitude like I'm stupid. Apparently I wasn't the only customer she was rude too regarding the same issue. My sister saw her being rude to another customer. I left my stuff there and said forget it! As I walked away my sis and I said " wow that was rude" "I wonder what her name is" the cashier yelled "DIANE" as she pulls on her name badge. I went up to the store manager and explained what happened. All I got was " ok I'll talk to her" she didn't offer to re scan my items, or to go to a different cashier nothing. Just "ok I'll talk to her". I know you all are coworkers and you will just brush it off but treating customers like that isn't right. What happened to great customer service. This experience cured me from ever going to Walmart again. Target it is from now on. Dear rude Diane, if you are frustrated with the job you have please look for another job, and stop ruining people's days. This is our go-to Walmart since moving to El Monte. When we lived in Diamond Bar we would go to the Walmart in Phillips Ranch/Pomona...now that one is GHETTO and the employees are always bitter. Not this Walmart! I understand the complaints about the small amount of produce that this Walmart carries, but that is to be expected. There are Walmarts that renovated to add on the "grocery" portion and then there are those that were initially built to be a Super Walmart. Baldwin Park, Santa Fe Springs and Chino would be examples of Super Walmarts. They are super huge and you have to walk for blocks to get what you want. Duarte is not a Super Walmart. We like the Walmart in Duarte because (A) it has everything we need, (B) everything is located in such a way that you don't feel like you're running back and forth around the store and (C) we always find a good parking spot. Having said that, it is Walmart so there are going to be some weirdos shopping here. That is inevitable, but that is not the employees' fault. Low prices attract a wide variety of crazy. My experience with the Walmart employees has been pretty good. Most of the time, they will stop and ask if you need help. The cashiers are friendly and hilarious. The Walmart in Rosemead is probably closer to where we live, but we like the Duarte Walmart. Yay! We're fans! read more

This location is usually out of whatever we have gone in there for. Today it was GoldBond Lotion that the stores website said was in stock. When we got there there was only one bottle and it was hopelessly damaged. The top of the pump was broken off with only a tube sticking out of the bottle. A Walmart associate directed us to assistant manager Richard who would sell it to us for a $1 discount (the price was almost $8). I might have done it if it had been a reasonable amount for a pump that was inoperative, but he would not waver. They would rather send it back to GoldBond for replacement than give a decent discount. I wonder how much sending it back will cost them..... This has to be one of the worst WallMarts we have ever seen, and we have stopped at WallMarts all over the U.S. Another local merchant near this Walmart earlier this year when I was looking for something I could not find at Walmart told me she never shops there because of how bad it is. So I took the items out and put them each in their own double bags. By doing so I wasted more bags, she wasted my time, and left a customer feeling dissatisfied. I've been to this Walmart probably 2 or 3 times a year when I visit my nieces. The only reason why I gave this place 3 stars (and I'm being generous)... is because of this sorta heavy set Asian guy as a cashier whom I forgotten his name but he was extremely polite and asked if I found everything ok....also he was pretty organized with my bags. When I first met him earlier this year, I felt he was rude, quiet, no eye contact, etc. But once I got to know him a little better... he opened a little more and had a nice little chat. Dirty. I went there yesterday and hike I was looking at baby toys, I noticed an ant crawling on the toy I wanted to get. I set it back down and thought "oh, it's just one ant." This is close to where I live so if I need something I go here. Everyone knows WM is a one stop shop and you end up getting more than what you came in for. If I need cold medicine or other drugstore things I hit WM before CVS/Walgreens. Of course those two stores may have a bigger selection and more variety, since they are actual drugstores, but for the basics they are too expensive. Just depends what you need. So,this is just your typical Walmart(take that how you want lol),they have a grocery section and all the usual stuff but I prefer shopping their super centers more. The prices are a bit lower on some items at the SC(example,fresh cut watermelon is almost $4 here at their SC it $2.50 and $3.88 respectively). I come here often and usually find what I need and then some. There is an older man that greets everyone that walks by. He always tells you have a great day even before you start shopping,it's so cute and a rarity in todays shopping world. Still since it doesn't carry EVERYTHING one needs,or thinks they need, I would check out Baldwin Park/even Pico Rivera if I'm over there/driving the 605N from Winco or getting President Thai LOL .Even Rosemead (which claims to be a super center but closes at 10 when the others are open 24/7 (except major MAJOR holidays...meaning they got you on Columbus day so don't worry). read more
