When the ownership of Best Buy Drugs changed hands a few years ago, becoming PAX 2 Pharmacy, Sierra Madre faced a real problem. It's a small town and set in our ways. The community is admirably resistant to chain stores (the one survivor can be found dispensing charred, overpriced coffee worldwide), and if PAX had not decided to move here we may instead have had one of the indistinguishable chain drug outlets. Instead we now have a splendid example of a superior, locally-owned business that is both professionally top-notch (I'm a geezer; I know what I'm talking about) and exquisitely attentive to its clientele. The pharmacist/owner, Bella, has a comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy, naturally, but is attuned to her customers. She has retained the staff who have been here for years, and brought in some outstanding people as needed. In short, even if I lived in Pasadena, I would still trek to Sierra Madre in order to get the sort of personal attention you receive here. read more

I'm not typically a person that posts reviews and would not like to flame a business for one bad experience, but the pharmacist and some of their employees are so rude and unhelpful (Joyce excluded, she is lovely). There have been mistakes made over the years and I've looked the other way, but the last one was the final straw. No accountability and rude on top of it. It's a shame. It's a great location and such a cute blast from the past. I'm someone who supports small businesses but we'll be going to CVS on Foothill now. They are actually very nice over there. read more

This pharmacy changed owners and the lady who used to give me the stink-eye no longer works there. This has made all the difference! I no longer feel like I'm being sized up as some kind of thief or addict. The people running the pharmacy are pleasant and helpful. Good vibes all around. The store itself is virtually identical to its previous incarnation. If it isn't broke, why fix it? Anyway, with one key staffing change this pharmacy is now great to go to. Truly terrible pharmacy and owner. Was a customer for years at Best Buy and was very well cared for by Paul and his wonderful staff. Since this outfit took over the business has gone downhill. Bella, the owner, is the rudest and most irresponsible pharmacist I have ever encountered. We went to another pharmacy to fill my mom's medication, but there was a small mix up with the prescription and they couldn't help. When I finally did make the move, I was so pleased at the personal, friendly care I received from Paul and his staff.
