I am very grateful for this pharmacy. I previously dealt with 986 Pharmacy when I needed some specialty meds that other pharmacies could not fill. They were kind enough to offer delivery, which was a Godsend given that I was in a lot of pain due to an injury. Fast-forward two years, and my regular pharmacy (Rite Aid) closed, transferring my meds to CVS. Huge mistake. But thankfully after 986 pharmacy stepped in, all the med errors & problems that I unfortunately experienced with CVS all got corrected, no more insurance issues, my meds are filled in advance, & the staff is very easy & polite to work with. The staff at this pharmacy are extremely unprofessional. I strongly recommend avoiding this location. I visited the pharmacy and asked for Stephen, but I accidentally pronounced the name slightly differently (like "Stephan," as in Stephen Curry). Instead of correcting me politely, several staff members laughed, and one of them repeatedly mocked the mispronunciation by saying, "Stephan! Stephan!" I asked to speak with the manager -- who is Stephen -- and explained that this behavior was disrespectful, rude, and completely inappropriate for a professional setting. But the managers didn't seem to be apologetic either. No customer should ever be treated this way. WOW! I'm not a regular Yelp reviewer, but I had to take a minute to praise this pharmacy. I was diagnosed as pre diabetic and my doctor prescribed me Wegovy, which has made a huge difference. For the first time I'm losing tons of weight, and I am no longer pre diabetic! However, this medicine is super hard to find. I live in Palm Springs and none of the big corporate pharmacies will speak to me or help me order the prescription. Somebody told me about this amazing pharmacy here in Pasadena, and it's like going back into the "old days" when you could get a pharmacist who cares, offers exceptional customer service and goes the extra mile with a smile. I went to the 986 Specialty Pharmacy at 1719 E Walnut St, Pasadena, CA 91106 to get my Moderna Covid Shot. I'd seen their sign when driving through Pasadena a few times, but thought it was one of Pasadena's Medical Marijuana places, so I didn't pay it any attention, since that isn't something that interest me. CVS is booked up everywhere for their Covid Shots, so I used a state referral page and was able to get an appointment here within two days. It's located in a strange location next to some town houses within walking distance of Pasadena City College. The counter staff was very friendly, and so was the Pharmacy Intern who was administering the Covid Shot on the day of my appointment. I was surprised at how busy and big the team they have working filling orders, around ten people. The local CVS at Target only has three people working, sometimes two, other times just the pharmacist. There were no lines while I was at 986 Specialty Pharmacy other than five men who were waiting for 15 minutes after getting their Moderna Shot. Only one person came in to fill an order during the twenty minutes I was there for my shot. It's difficult to know what the normal experience there would be for filling a prescription, but they certainly have a lot of people working, so I imagine it may be a faster experience than the local CVS and WalGreens. As for the Covid shot, I showed my ID, Medical Insurance, online appointment confirmation, and was handed a form to fill out. By the time I had filled out the one page form, the Pharmacist Intern came over and gave me the shot. It was 100% painless. I didn't even realize she had given me the shot until she put the band aid on my arm. She gave me some verbal information about possible side effects and that I needed to wait approximately 15 minutes, which I did. First Impression is pretty good. read more

These people are absolutely incompetent in understanding what a customer wants. I am so sick of calling in to order ONE prescription on a Tuesday and told I can only get a delivery by Thursday and the ONLY PRESCRIPTION I ORDERED ISN'T THERE! They say "your prescriptions are on auto refill", but not the one that has NO REFILLS that I called for that needs me to ask them to order it. They just do not understand. This pharmacy has been amazing. My dad's doctor didn't send his prescription right away. The pharmacy staff took down all the information and called his doctor's office for the prescription. They eventually received the prescription and it required authorization from the insurance. The insurance ultimately did not approve the medication. 986 reached out and communicated between the doctor's office and me and kept me in the loop the entire process, even getting a new prescription for an alternative that would be covered. I really appreciate the time and care that was put into making sure my dad gets his medication as soon as possible.
