    Mean ugly Maria
    Thicccahontas T.

Maria is the most unprofessional assistant manager. The freezer was not working. My husband had gotten me ice cream and come back to the car. The ice cream was half melted so I asked him to please return it as the seal was broken. The manager claimed oh well since everything else is good clearly our freezer is good but Maria I'm eating the sandwiches heated now the only thing I need frozen is the icecream and refused to give me back a receipt/or a swap out(any sort of help) how sad she then proceeded to call the cops because I have an authoritative voice and told the cops that we were hostile and we proceeded to laugh I explained well the cops have record of my cptsd etc sooanyways, I have the whole video recorded. It was quite an experience for some liquefied " frozen lemonade." I apologized to the cashier who even thought I was upset with her I said no mam I'm upset with Maria who even said to the police I want her out but then proceeded to open two tills and push every customer in front of me! Like what in the world does that make sense! Photo below is Maria!!! This is when. Maria decided to say I charged wrong maybe I got free items but lucky me I made her go through her system and find it!!! I paid exact amount! She even said maybe we gave you mooooreee change like lol nah I gave you five and I got 1.25 back for three items nontaxed food as you said over and over and over!

    They have Lysol!

Writing a review for the Dollar Tree seems a little odd for me, but considering the circumstances that we're currently in, I felt that it was necessary to share the wealth with my fellow SGV Yelp peers. Dollar Tree was pretty much stocked on my last visit with everything that most other places had shortages on. The biggest jackpot for me was the Lysol - yes, LYSOL! They had it and it was only $1! Other places are price gouging like crazy for this, and here is good ol' Dollar Tree, selling it for a very low price. I have my love/hate relationship for Dollar Tree, and as of right now, it's more of a love relationship. Also, shoutout to the workers that are hustling to make sure that we have the essentials that we need during these tough times.

    NOT Acceptable

The word I can think of to best describe this store "reliable." Sure; it may not be the biggest or most varied Dollar Tree on the planet; but it makes the absolute most of what it does have. There are hardly any stocking issues here; even with current supply shortages as well as labor reduction in the workforce. That's saying something for management here; great job! The employees that are here work hard; & have come to my rescue many a time; even going as far as looking in the back for a certain item I was really looking for. Lines move relatively fast here; bathrooms are available (with key), and the store is in near tip-top shape as far as cleanliness can be expected. Lastly; the seasonal rotation is a plethora of items you simply cannot beat the deals on; even at the new $1.25 mark - this store has a large inventory of holiday and party goods, on hand. This is just an all-around example of what a properly run store should look like ! No-frills, reliable, sustainable!

    Honor Military Greeting Cards

I love the greeting cards at Dollar Tree and I especially love they have a section of military greeting cards. My son is a US Marine and I was so excited to get a card for him today from dollar tree. OOH-RAH!

Defective tablecloths. Check them by rubbing them together to see if they turn to dust on you.

I've been here quite a few times but the last visit has left a particularly bad taste in my mouth. This location is pretty small and dumpy. The employees are not well-trained nor very bright. So two big issues with my visit three days ago: 1). I bought several tablecloths in different colors for a project. When I pulled the purple tablecloth out of the package, it literally fell to pieces all over my carpet. LITERALLY. It was the weirdest experience. It almost felt like wet paper. If just pulled touched it with your hand or tugged it ever slightly, it tore into confetti. I'm not exaggerating. So I had to bring it back and hoped that I was able to replace it with another purple one. I went and checked and about 70% of the purple tablecloths were defective. I rubbed them against themselves through the packaging and they all fell apart. When I finally found one that was okay, the cashier wouldn't let me exchange it after telling me that I COULD exchange it. I didn't even know what she was saying because she was so unclear and nothing she said about the return process even made sense. I told her, "What are you trying to say? I don't understand you." She told me, "We do even exchange and money-back returns but we can't take this. It's damaged." "What are you TALKING about? You guys sold ME the defective products and now you're telling me that I can't return it?" "Oh," she says, all dumbfounded, "It was like this?" WTF do you think I've been saying this whole time? "YES, I bought it like this TWO DAYS AGO." So then she tried to get the manager but I said, "Don't bother. She already knows. I sent her over there to collect all your defective tablecloths." Good Lord. 2). I was going around the store with my daughter in my baby carrier on my chest while pushing a shopping cart. There was a giant piece of metal sticking out from the floor that I didn't see. They tried to tape this sharp object down with several pieces of duct tape (obviously didn't work since customers just stepped on it repeatedly so it tore right through). Anyway, I didn't see it, so one of my flats got caught and it almost pulled my shoe off. I checked the tip of my shoe where it was snagged and it ripped my shoe. I'm not pissed but I am wholly annoyed. So I go up to an employee and ask to speak to a manager, which turned out to be her. Either she was stupid or she was playing stupid... Up until I showed her the photos from my phone. Then suddenly it was all crystal clear what metal sticking out from the floor, "Oh, yes yes yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. I told the company about it but they haven't done anything, sorry." And that was it. I speak very slowly, emphasizing my words, "Can. I. FILE. A. Complaint?" "Oh, yes," she nods, smiling and blinking. Seriously, that's all she was did. Then silence. *SIGH* More slow conversation, "Is. There. A FORM. I. Can. Fill. Out...?" because every store has an incident report form. "No. You can call, yeah. And maybe if you say something, they will fix it faster," followed by more clueless nodding and staring. OMG. This was going nowhere, so I told her I would just call corporate and then informed her of the tablecloths. After I was done checking out with the idiot of a cashier, the manager comes back to me with (wouldn't you know it) a INCIDENT REPORT FORM to fill out, "Oh, you can fill this out if you like." WTF. How do you people get hired for jobs??? By the way, I filled out the form but it was supposed to be done by her. I just can't with this place. The thing I consider fortunate is that I usually wear sandals. All year long I wear sandals. Today was a hot day and I chose to wear my flats instead of sandals. If this metal tore my shoe, can you imagine what would've happened to my foot if I wore sandals that day?

    99¢ x N = your price!

Dollar Tree is not on my regular rotation of stores at which I buy stuff. It is worth noting that, as a man who values time and efficiency, I don't go shopping. I go buying. The distinction to me is that shopping is simply going to a store to see what they have. Buying is going to a store with a specific item or items in mind that I wish to purchase, after having established that the item or items in fact are in that store. This minimizes the actual time that I need to be at a store, and not doing other activities, like say, sitting on the couch or throwing the ball with the dog, or... You get the idea. I like buying, I hate shopping. This is an important point in terms of my dollar tree experience. I have never gone into a dollar tree to just see what they have. Instead, when I need greeting cards, gift bags, a box of plastic forks, inexpensive picture frames for student awards, or some seasonal campy tchotchke to decorate the office in a cheesy way, Dollar Tree is awesome. The store has a variety of junk. It has always been reminiscent of the old Pasadena Woolworth's from when I was a kid in the 80s. Where else can you buy energy drink mix, a bag of plastic combs, and a rolling pizza cutter... All within two or three aisles of each other? Occasionally, dollar tree will have some rare gem that sells out fast like those little solar powered head bobbing moving tots that live in car dashboards and kitchen windowsills. This particular store is pretty well-stocked, and they keep it nice and clean. Cashiers are friendly for the most part, and there's always plenty of parking in the giant lot. Like many of the stores around my school, after school you might find several students in the Dollar Tree. They are well behaved good kids, but if being around adolescents bothers you, do us all a favor and just be somewhere else around 2:40. And no, I don't mean the Boba tea place two doors down.

If you are a fan of the Huntington Collection in Pasadena, you'll be sure to love the Bargain Box. Just like the Huntington Collection, I can't call it a thrift shop since it's not like any thrift shops I've been to! Looks more like an expensive antique shop when you step inside. I was blown away by the quality of the available merchandise, especially the housewares and decor. It's very evident that all of the pieces on sale were meticulously cleaned and staged by the hardworking staff. All of the furniture and housewares are excellent condition, not to mention very well priced. Make a point to visit before Halloween! The store is all decked out with Halloween decor! The Bargain Box is managed by the Assistance League of Arcadia, and one of their worthy endeavors is Operation School Bell, which provides much needed clothing as well as school supplies such as backpacks and books to children in need in neighboring local schools. There's a small parking lot but there should be plenty of street parking available if needed. Also, be aware that the store has limited hours since it's managed by volunteers. It's only open two days a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.

At the check out, the white woman must have known the rule, because she bagged the food separately from the non-food. She shamed him for making a long line. The prices here, in-person can be better and even more discounted than on their website, depending on what inventory they need to clear out. There are lots of chairs, like office chairs, gaming chairs, dining chairs, bar stools, that you can get for a really, really, REALLY good price. I'm not gonna say they're the best quality, but I think it's perfect if you need to quickly furnish a place on a budget, ie - a college student needing a desk, chair, etc for a dorm or an apartment. I would say, try sitting on the stuff in store before you buy to test it's durable enough for your usage. You have to imagine that stuff this cheap is built as mail-order stuff for skinny Asians. I picked up a side table that's lasted the better part of a year, so far. I was SUPER tempted to get a fluffy cat tree for $20. Some cool selection of outdoor furniture. And even some random household things, like a clothes steamer. The thing is, I get the sense that their inventory is rather randomized. Sitting in the chairs and feeling the fabric of the furniture you can tell the quality is somewhat lower which is reflected in the prices. After walking around for a few minutes we decided to leave. The prices are good but the stuff just seems disposable. Like you just replace them every year. We just didn't find anything worthwhile and the social media post was obviously an exaggeration and just had to pass. Only go if you want low prices over quality. But we had to pass.
