Employees at the return center are very slow and incompetent. A customer wanted to return 4 plants and Leanne did not know what to do. She could have ask her supervisor​ but instead she just kept repeating herself that she doesn't know how to do it. That customer was getting impatient and complained about Leanne. Meanwhile, the wait line was getting longer and longer. Finally, 20 minutes late, the manager Kristina came, but she was also incompetent​ and kept us waiting. Leanne could have help some of us while her manager was taking to the plant customer, but no, she just stood there and did nothing. All the customers waited for 25 minutes for that ONE customer. Then there was Patrice at the makeup department who just kept talking to her co-worker and ignores the customers. Walmart, your have very disappointing employees. Please train them better. read more

Needs improve on everything, staff, check outs, return center. I hate having to come to THIS Walmart in particular due to how slow everything and everyone is here the staff take long to help out find anything, the staff that check your receipts the (old man with gray hair longish hair) seems like a p.e.d.o. They take forever to check your receipts even if I only have 2 items not in bag less then $20.. at night they allow the homeless to come in and ask people for money or I've seen a homeless man run out with food from the store and this is just ridiculous fix the management here ASAP. I am a fire victim and lost my home. Feeling very impatient and bothered these days, when trying to shop for things to replace in my home. I couldn't find a particular style and was getting frustrated, when I got help from Desiree in Home Goods. She didn't just give me a quick answer and leave. She actually got a ladder, searched the shelves above and her phone. I was able to get the product I needed and I really appreciated her efforts. I don't think a lot of employees understand how hard it is, to get that type of customer service, these days. She went 150% and God bless her. Thank you Desiree and Walmart. read more

This place earned zero stars but Yelp makes you give at least one star so let's be clear that one star was NOT earned. Skip this sad place. Save yourself time, money, headache, and exposure from poor customer service. I made the mistake of ordering my photos for pick up here and that's how I found myself at Walmart . . . First and last time I'll be doing that. "Workers" in uniform smoking outside. "Workers" listening to their phones on their earbuds and using their phones on the job. One "worker" stood in the way watching a mom with two kids struggle to free a cart to use instead of offering to help her out. I did her job for her and helped the customer with the carts. Oh and Target has cheaper prices! Check the Target app! Woolite laundry detergent was a dollar cheaper at Target and you get a $15 gift card for Target when you spend $50 on household items this week. Apathetic atmosphere all around. December 2021 - Yes, I am actually leaving a review for Walmart, lol. Service/Ambiance - This is the 2nd time I've had issues with buying giftcards at this location this month. This most recent time, I took the time to pick from a wide variety of different giftcards and I picked a specific design. The cashier was not paying attention at all and repeatedly asked multiple how much I wanted to purchase for the card. She slid the giftcard a few times (more than 5 times) and it didn't seem to be working so she switched out the giftcard WITHOUT asking me. She seemed a bit frustrated with it but I just waited patiently to let her figureit out. It wasn't until later that I noticed she had given me a completely DIFFERENT design of giftcard... I was running late to an appointment so I didn't have time to deal with this anymore. I'm fine if someone doesn't know how to do something but seriously just ask for help so you don't waste everyone's time. I rarely shop in Walmart but every time I take a chance, they remind of why I never shop in Walmart. I went in there today to find a fold up lounge chair so that my fiancé can lounge while using his new bbq grill. I saw one chair that was decent out in the garden patio area. So I go inside the garden shop to find a salesperson. I ask about the chair, he has no clue what I'm talking about. I tell him it's right there in the middle on display. He tells me to go all the way to the back where the grills are to see if there are any there. I repeat that it's right outside. All he has to do was stick his head out the door. But noooo he tells me to check online to see if they're on sale there. Why couldn't he just peek outside? He would've known instantly if they were in store or not. And if they weren't in the store he could've told me a price. So what did I do? I left a whole basket full of items that I had intended to purchase in the garden shop and I left and drove a block north to my favorite store Target and I found the chairs in a better color and better quality. With the other items in my cart I spent almost $400. Which is $400 that Walmart could've had in their register at the end of the day. Teach your salespeople or clerks to actually servuce your customers. And clean up your junky store WALMART!!!! read more

Came here to pick up butane for my kitchen torch, walking around prices don't seem like a huge deal cheaper than the competitors which was surprising. I know Walmart isn't known for sense of urgency or friendly associates but geez Louise! I got to the only line that Carried the butane and the cashier was sitting down on a chair as she scanned and had no care in the world that her line was building bigger and bigger and bigger. I stopped by Walmart to pick up some groceries and exercise equipment and I was pleasantly surprised. I came on a busy weekend afternoon and parked pretty far away. When I went inside, everything was neatly organized in a way that I was able to find everything I needed without asking for any help. I did, however, ask for a price check on something - and the employee was SO nice and friendly. The store was clean, items were well-priced, and everyone was following social distancing guidelines/ wearing masks. I did self checkout because all the other lines were too long, and it was so efficient and well organized. I went in looking for few items and distilled water. I asked a young man help me to get the gallons of water off top shelf that I wasn't able to reach. I had to ask twice. He was stocking soda and acted like I requested to draw blood. Rude. Never looked me in the eye to say " sure I can help, give me just a moment." We normally go to the Glendora store but Duarte store is closer. It's just filled with rude sales and stock associates. I worked 21 years in retail. Customer service makes ALL the difference. My favorite Walmart in the LA area, despite my husband having a poor experience doing a clothing return of 3 pair of pants for me this week. Not a Walmart clothing item but outside seller. Two pair of V.I.P. pants were taken from him and no receipt given for them. Only one receipt for the No Boundaries Walmart pants and he assumed all 3 items were accounted for on that one receipt. Not so; $66 of credit was not on the receipt. SO, many phone calls later (mostly unanswered at the Duarte store) and about an hour in total on the phone, we had to drive a half hour all the way back out there at 10PM to straighten this all out. Fortunately, CHRISTINE, one of the front store managers, came to our rescue. This 5 star review is for HER and not the employee who screwed up. I have never had this problem before and hope the associate who made this mistake was found (from my one receipt) and given a good lecture and correction on how to process third party returns. Excellent service in the garden department last weekend. The sales team helped me out quite a bit, particularly with plant selection.

The store in and of itself is okay. It's fine, in fact. Reasonable prices and items I can't seem to find elsewhere. Okay, Walmart. What is up with a full parking lot but once inside, it screams ghost town? AND what is up with people trying to block or hinder "certain people" from entering the store, e.g., heading you off at the pass, if you will, and suddenly and aggressively pushing their basket in front of customers entering? THEN on the way out, there are people feinting as if they're looking for the restroom or whatever, but there's a quick about face -- invading space following "certain people" out of the store and into the parking lot. Is this your doing, Walmart? If so, you need to rethink this practice. It's pathetic. read more

Quarantine review: I stopped into this Walmart the other day about an hour prior to them closing. At this time there wasn't a line to go in or anything like that but we had to wear facemasks. They were a couple of things that I had a look for specifically and this was the Walmart where they had the item in stock. Luckily I had seen the poster at the front door as I was walking in saying that use the Walmart app you're able to find specific products and telling you where they're located. I've only been to this Walmart a handful of times but it's always like a needle in a haystack since it's so big. I first blindly tried to look for the product myself. But eventually it was too hard to find and I downloaded the app and did a search for it. And lo and behold it told me exactly which aisle it was going to be in. And I found it 20 seconds later. I did the self check out and everything was very quick. I did buy too many items and was going to return things but was told at the customer service desk closed at 5 o'clock. So just a heads up for those wanting to get a refund or an exchange that they might not be open. read more

There are some issues that need resolving here. I won't go overly into detail but there are obvious staffing issues here. I'm a coffee fiend and the coffee selection in this store is one of the best as far as Walmarts go. That and the garden department here (where I just obtained a Mother's Day gift at) are the reason I bumped my rating up to 4 stars for this review. Please management stock the shelves at night and not hours before closing it's a real safety issue to have pallets being pulled by customers browsing the aisles. The pet department here is lacking; the sporting goods section is above average. Store is clean and garbage cans are always empty as well as bathrooms pretty decent. Also the cash registers seem to be moving quicker than expected given the volume this location sees on a daily basis. I'm not sure this location will survive if it cannot fix the staffing issues however ! Just a prediction! read more

Ordered delivery from this store and the two items delivered were completely wrong (not even remotely close!). Went to the store to return and found a very long line for the return counter where only one person was working. The woman in front of us asked for another employee to be called up since the line was so long but was told that no one was available (there was a group of employees shooting the breeze not 20 feet away). Finally had our turn to return and that was fine, but they wouldn't let us pay for the replacement items (what we had actually ordered). They told us to go to self-checkout to complete the transaction. None of the checkouts by the return desk were open - they told us to go to the entire other end of the store. We had a disabled person with us so we asked if they could quickly open one of the registers that was right there since all we had to do was scan the app. Nope! Worst, worst, WORST customer service at the Duarte Walmart! Tried returning a beach chair that broke after 4 months. The return center said it was past the 90 days. I asked to speak to a manager since clearly being a Walmart brand they should stand by their products even if it is past 90 days. And lo and behold comes Kristina.. the same "manager" someone else on Yelp had the displeasure of encountering. She said she would give me $14, the price the chair rang up as. I declined and asked for her managers phone number. She wrote down "1-800-Walmart. So, I called that number and spoke to a lovely gentleman who after explaining the whole story to, found out that this product did indeed have a 1 year manufacturers warranty.. something a manager should know of and offer the customer. After 4 phone calls in total to 1-800-Walmart a week later I get a call from Crystal, a manager from the Duarte store. She tells me she's sorry for the confusion and that I could come to the store that day for a full refund. And she would be having a conversation with Kristina. She also assured me she would be there until 5pm so I could ask for her or a gentleman named Luis and she'd let the return center employees know the situation. Sooo.. I get there at 3 pm. Go to the return center. Ask for Crystal. Lady at the counter said she'd never heard of her. Ok. I ask for a Luis. Crickets. I kind of explained what I was told and that I was looking for the manager. And guess who strolls up! Yep, you guessed it! Kristina. Bad attitude and all. I was explaining to her my conversation with Crystal earlier in the day and that I'd like to speak with her, and as I was talking to her she just walked away! In the middle of me talking! I said excuse me I'm not done talking to you. Well, then the staredown starts. And she very condescendingly and sarcastically and slowly said to me "I will be walking away now, is that ok with you?" I honestly could not believe she was actually speaking to a customer this way! She left to "go find Crystal" and never came back. So, I stood there and waited at least 15 minutes, probably more. I called the store as I stood in the return center to try to talk to Crystal.. only to be transferred a few times and then put on hold with no one ever coming to the phone. Finally a young girl behind the return counter said that my return had been approved, so I got back in line. Then Luis showed up! He helped me with my return. I told him about my second experience with Kristina and he didn't seem too interested in just how unprofessional and rude she was on both occasions I had to deal with her. You can be sure I will be writing an email to Walmart corporate office regarding her as I'm sure it will not be the first complaint about her. After my return was done, against my better judgement, I had to get a few things. I needed a watch. And rang the bell in the jewelry department saying I needed assistance to open the cabinet. A woman named Stacy came. I said hello. No response from her. I could see she was very frustrated or angry or both. After she finished readjusting the help button she said "What do you want". No smile. No customer service. Nothing. Now, I get it that working at Walmart might not be the best job in the world. But you absolutely should not deal with customers if you are that unhappy, miserable and rude. My whole experience at the Duarte Walmart has been awful. I live 2 miles from it but from now on I will take my business to the Walmart in Covina.. or better yet to Target! So, just a heads up to the management (or in the case of this store, mismanagement) some of your employees are just awful and have NO business dealing with the public! read more

I came here during pandemic, and everyone in the store was practicing PPE. As usual, the store is crowded and I don't think they were monitoring the influx of customers at that time. But at that time, it was not mandated by Newsom. My main focus was the garden center. I enjoyed looking at all the xmas decorations and lights on the shelves. I finally called the store and was told to go to guest services. Line barely moved in 15-20 minutes. Line backed up into the men's wear section of the store. 10+ people waiting for service. So I was at Walmart n used the self service check out. I usually don't use them,but today I did.. well I had a gift card from fletch . The guy said I couldn't use it at self checkout so he printed out my receipt to take to a regular cashier. I explained I was deaf but she didn't remove her mask for me to read her lips to understand what she was saying. I told her I had a gift card of $25.00 still she refused to remove the mask so the manger or leader named Kristina ( with a K) came n I explained that I had a gift card n couldn't use it at the selfserver she told me I had to put it on the walmart store app to use it. I was like since when do I need to do that?? I've used these ecards all the time n would scan it off my phone.. she said they started doing this months ago.. well she " helped " me put the scan number n pin number on the app.. I kept telling her I don't want to use my walmart card to pay the remaining balance that I wanted to use my bank card she kept saying something I didn't understand her.. both these women don't understand when someone tells them they are fkn deaf.. she used my walmart card to pay n I got so mad at her she didn't even help me correct it so I was like " what's your name?" OK got it went to the customer service and right away the girl there helped me correct the situation.. This event happened when we needed Walmart the most. My standing Altadena home was not livable. Surrounding homes were burned to the ground. We went to Walmart and purchased an Air Mattress BR Sensa Qn $126.00 for my daughter to sleep on. We never opened the item and attempted to return it. The Request to return was refused due to "Store Policy" . Both the Store Manager and Corporate Manager refused a return, any credit and dismissed the stress and need for help. Walmart Corporate 800-925-6278 January 21, spoke to Tania and received no empathy or resolution. I cannot tell you how disappointed and angry I am with Walmart. I shop them 3-4 times weekly. $126 is a small amount of money, however during the times when all should rally around those in need. Walmart was no where to be found for us. Training and policy changes need addressing. The package has no markings that state it cannot be returned or refunded. This is horrible customer service and Walmart is not a a store where I will be shopping in the future. I am not a person who writes reviews to complain about a place (check out my other reviews) I generally use Yelp to let people know about a business that is outstanding... but I am breaking with that because this is the worst experience I have ever had! I had a knee replacement 3 weeks ago, and finally just got off total bed rest. I had to go to get several items for my mother, and decided to go to Walmart because I have a full leg brace and great difficulty walking, and I thought they had those carts go help those who are handicapped. I had never used one of them before, but I Absolutely needed one this time. The greeter at the door told me that all their motorized carts were broken, and had been for over a year! What kind of store does that? I had to limp through the store trying to get the items my mother needed. I was sweating and having chest pain, and finally decided there was no way I could finish my task without either falling, or having a heart attack from the exertion.
