Cheese Fries
Candice S.

I was really torn about my experience, but because it was a delivery order, I will definitely stop by in person to try them out again. The menu is creative and has tons of options. As a vegetarian, I am so grateful that they have vegetarian options. This is unique because most restaurants like this do not offer that as an option. I will say, however, I was disappointed by the presentation. Everything felt really messy, the bun was not big enough for all the toppings and the hotdog. The cheese fries barely had any cheese on it. The quality of the food was just OK, nothing that made me feel like I had to have it again. But again, because it was a to go order I will give it another shot.

Fun atmosphere, friendly service, and the Rhody and the Wally dogs I tried were great. I would recommend the crab fries with cheese as a delicious starter but not a side as the Old Bay Seasoning gives them a salty bite; my dining companion got the regular fries and they were crisp and perfect as a side. The cocktail I tried, an excellent rum punch with a hint of falernum was also a positive. Too bad I don't live closer as I would love to try more of their creative dogs.

Dogs were great. Jammin was my favorite, well-caramelized onions and good flavor. El jefe was great too. Service was sub-par. Bartender gave us waters and then disappeared for 15 minutes. We ended up ordering with the host. The guy never asked us for a drink order, just dropped off the food and never followed up. When he was behind the bar, he watched the game with his back to us and talked badly about customers who just left. If we do go back, we'll try the Newport location.

Love the Providence Wally's! The brunch is unexpectedly incredible, one of our faves in the state. Obviously the hot dogs, burgers, and martinis are all excellent. What more could you want? The vibe is casual but the back room is a little more upscale in the evening for a night out. It's very large which is nice, you don't have to wait long (if at all) for seating, unlike at the Newport location. The staff is super friendly and fun. We actually had a totally bizarre experience here a while ago, someone was kinda harassing my husband and I at the bar and started eating our food off our plates with his fingers. The manager was horrified and handled it swiftly and discreetly, and he really went above and beyond to apologize even though it was totally not the restaurants fault. We are big fans and will continue to be regular customers of the Providence Wally's.

I don't even love a hot dog... But this place definitely impressed me! From the drinks to the dogs.. it was all delicious. Shoutout to our server- was his second day and he was great! Nice space, lots of seating / bar seating and outdoor seating. Fun retro diner vibe. We got loaded fries, the Hawaiian dog & a veggie 'girl dinner' dog, espresso martinis, and the dog bowl! I will say, as fun as the dog bowl is- it spills! & we did have some miscommunication ensuring my friends dog was actually the veggie one- but it did work out. The espresso martinis.. some of the BEST I've tried! Definitely top 5.

Lord of the Wings review 2025: We came for the wings and left wanting it all! Federal hill so expect a hard time parking. Cute inside. It was a Saturday around 2pm and plenty of seats available. We went with Wally sauce wings and the guys split a kimchee dog. The wings had a lot of meat, cooked well as ordered and smothered in sauce. And the sauce was flavorful! This was an adult wing crawl. This was our first stop of the day and upon leaving all we heard about from the guys for the rest of the day was heading back to Wallys!! (They want more hot dogs!!)

Wally's is such a cool vibe. The wieners and fries always come out fresh and the staff is very nice. Perfect place for a date night and then can take a stroll through federal hill.

I went into Wally's for the Rhode Island Food Fights Lord of the Wings 2026 challenge. I've been to Wally's before but I had never had their wings. They had a variety of sauces and I went with the straight Buffalo. Their wings were lightly breaded with a nice crispness to them. The sauce was your typical buffalo sauce. They were very enjoyable. I also couldn't resist ordering a spicy kraut dog (a hot dog with dijon mustard and cherry pepper saurkraut. It was reasonably priced and hit the spot - a nice compliment to my wings. I sat at the bar and spoke a little bit to the friendly staff. I've had their hot dogs before and they are very good. It was a Monday night and they weren't too busy. I was able to find parking right down the street which can be difficult at that section of Federal Hill. the restaurant was very clean and well maintained and I was very happy with my experience

I know Rhode Island peeps are still unhappy about The Old Canteen becoming Wally's Providence but please give them a chance! Hubby & I were on the RI Food Fights #LordOfTheWings challenge & Wally's wings were delicious! A delicate crunch on the outside & juicy on the inside with a variety of unique sauces, so there's something whether you like it mild, bold or adventurous. Wally's also just rolled out a new brunch menu & a fun Sharing Is Caring menu that's ideal for going with friends & trying a little bit of everything. And for those feeling nostalgic, you will be happy to know The Old Canteen vibes aren't completely gone. The signs are being used in the back rooms along with the original bar which honors the history of the space. All in all, great food, a welcoming atmosphere & a thoughtful blend of new energy with old-school nostalgia. NOM NOM NOM #YUM

This is my second time at Wally's but the first time trying their wings as part of the RI Food Fights wing throwdown The place is all pink and teal, pops of color and screaming that it's a fun place to be. The bar was crowded but we easily found a table in the dining room. Our server was Nathan who was awesome. Super friendly, informative and patient, he helped us navigate the menu to figure out what we wanted. Being at Wally's, we of course had espresso martinis. We each got a different kind, mine was the chai. A balance of warm spices and coffee, this drink hit the spot while we waited for our food. We chose to get the General Tso wings. They came out quickly and they were CRISPY. I loved the texture, super crispy but juicy inside. The sauce came on the side. While I wished it was tossed, I can't deny the incredible texture achieved by having it on the side. One of these days I'll have to try a hotdog, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the wings.

Wallys is a fantastic addition to federal hill. I came here for an early dinner this past weekend. The waiter we had was so helpful and was able to answer any questions we had. I ordered a funfetti espresso martini which was DELICIOUS. It was one of the best espresso martinis I have ever had. I also ordered crab fries which were perfection. I can't wait to come back and try more things.

I made a mental bookmark when Food Blogger friends created content about the Newport Wally's Wieners earlier this year. Because the hot dogs looked really good. Oops. I mean wieners. Last week, I was searching for Providence wieners to try as I was driving home from a trip. Wally's was one of the two names that stood out. The Providence Wally's is located on Atwell, just inside the Federal Hill La Pigna Archway. Wally's is part old school, because they use Saugy's "frankfurts", a beef and pork blend in a natural casing, that originated in Rhode Island in 1869. Love when places are loyal to their hometown dogs. You can also get a classic "All the Way" Rhode Island Wiener with meat sauce, mustard, chopped white onions and celery salt in a steamed bun at Wally's. But Wally's is part new school too. The inside, with pops of pink and green pastels, feels a bit like Miami. And Wally's is definitely a fun topping place. They have specialty combinations, with a modern spin. When I went, they had a special Bolognese dog and a special Cacio e Pepe dog. I ordered the special Bolognese dog, and the Spicy Kraut dog from the regular menu. The wieners are generally rapid-steamed, but you can request them grilled as well. I went for the classic RI steamed preparation. The bun was also steamed. The dog had a plump texture. I didn't find it especially snappy, although I know that Saugy's have that reputation. The dogs had good flavor, but the toppings were the stars for me. The bolognese sauce was very good. The kraut included cherry peppers, and was topped with an artful Squiggle of tasty "Dijon", that looked more like a blend with Stone-Ground Mustard. Very good hot dogs. The atmosphere was modern and colorful. Service was very good. If I lived nearby, I'd be in regularly to try all the dogs. 4.5 Stars

Who could resist stepping into this bright space with all the windows and colorful accents? This is truly an experience. The service was great. We felt like we were just more attendees to the wiener party! The food was inventive and delicious. Great care taken on the drinks as well - didn't expect such a treatment on my martini. Wow!

Somehow, despite having lived here for years and spending plenty of time around downtown…read moreProvidence, I had never been to The Eddy. I'm honestly not sure how I missed it, because this is exactly the kind of place I like finding. It is the true definition of a small cocktail bar. The space is tiny, intimate, and has a very specific atmosphere, so if you're looking for a big place with plenty of tables, this probably isn't it. If you're looking for a great cocktail in a cozy little bar, however, you're in the right place. The cocktail menu is excellent. There are a lot of creative options that go well beyond the standard collection of Old Fashioneds, Margaritas, and Martinis you'll find at most bars. The drinks are imaginative without becoming gimmicky, and the combinations we tried were really well balanced and interesting. You can tell there is some serious thought behind the cocktail program, and it makes ordering something new a lot of fun. Our waitress was fantastic as well. My wife ordered a drink that apparently isn't something every bartender is familiar with, so our waitress went back to the bartender to ask about it. The bartender immediately knew exactly what she was talking about, which was a nice little reminder that these people actually know their drinks. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy without hovering over us. The music deserves a mention, too. It was fantastic and fit the atmosphere perfectly. The Eddy has that comfortable, slightly dark cocktail-bar feeling where you can sit down, have a drink, listen to good music, and actually enjoy being there rather than feeling like you're sitting in a loud restaurant waiting for someone to bring you your check. My only real warning is that this place is genuinely small. That is part of its charm, but it also means getting in and finding a seat can be difficult at times, particularly when it's busy. You probably shouldn't show up with a large group expecting to immediately find a table. For two people looking for a couple of really good cocktails, though, it's pretty much ideal. The prices are also quite reasonable for the quality of the drinks. You're obviously paying cocktail-bar prices rather than dive-bar prices, but I didn't feel like we were being taken advantage of. Considering the creativity and quality of what we were drinking, I thought the prices were perfectly fair. I'm actually a little annoyed that I went this long without knowing The Eddy existed. Providence has so many cocktail bars that you can spend years here and still keep discovering places you've somehow walked past a hundred times. The Eddy is definitely going on the list of places we need to come back to, and we will 100% be back.

I came with one other person around 10:30pm on a weeknight. It was not crowded and we were sat near the back, next to the bathrooms-not ideal. Our waitress seemed a bit impatient and rude. She did not introduce herself so I don't know what her name was. We were caught up in conversation and our waitress was rushing us to order. We wanted to order dessert but we were informed that the kitchen was closed so we were unable to. We both ended up ordering Passionfruit Martinis and they were high-quality with great attention to detail. It's essentially a classic martini with passionfruit-flavored popping boba, served over a large ice cube. The drink was impressive and is the sole reason this review gets any stars. Usually I'm asked prior if we need separate receipts or if they're together, but my waitress failed to do that. The waitress came over with the receipt and I politely asked her to separate the check. She told me the drinks were the same price and to split it. We needed separate itemized receipts, I felt like I shouldn't have needed to justify why. I asked her again to do it and she actually split it for us. My friend and I were deep into conversation and another employee came over with an attitude and told us they were closing and my friend wasn't even able to finish her drink. She even made a comment on the rudeness of the employees and how it made the experience uncomfortable. Overall, I felt like the service left a bad impression on me. I'm not sure if I will return in the future. The drinks were pretty unique but the service was not pleasant.

That aside, the drinks themselves were quite good! You can tell the bartenders are very skilled and passionate about crafting their cocktails. For any Star Wars fans out there, the tiki drinks are served in mugs featuring some of your favorite characters, which was such a fun touch!
