I really think long and hard before I leave a review of two stars but I just can't leave an honest three star review for this restaurant. I've eaten there twice and the first time was better than the second; both times were for breakfast. The positives: the portion sizes are very generous and I really do love the taste of the pancakes. While the space is quite large and open as others have said it is a little oddly decorated but it's fine. The negatives: The service is painful. We asked for the same things repeatedly and they weren't very receptive to requests. It was frustrating to ask repeatedly for the same thing. I got the bill and realized I was charged for a $4 soda refill. I wouldn't have asked for a refill if I would have known it was an additional charge. The bill was a lot higher than other local diners such as Wayland Square Diner and the Brickway, and frankly the food, atmosphere, and service is not as good. So all in all it's not a place I'll return to based on what I detailed above. I would highly recommend to the owner to let people know refills are not free before charging them and improving service. It really leaves a sour taste from your visit. read more

I desperately needed a new breakfast spot and Jazzy's was exactly what I needed. The waitress Christine was great. She was so friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Portions were perfect. Hubby got the crab Benny, the crab cakes were fresh and flavorful. I got the biscuits and gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Loved the fact they offer limited outdoor seats. The show stopper for us was the cinnamon roll French toast. It's a must try. read more

Walked in with 4 people at 12:30pm on a Saturday and got a seat right away which was nice. The food itself was not good. I only took one bite of my meal (the oatmeal) and couldn't eat the rest. There was spinach underneath my bowl not sure if it was supposed to be a garnish or not. My other friend with me ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was so dry she only ate 1/2 (no onions or peppers). The other two people said their meals were fine enough but then one of them ended up getting food poisoning at the end of the day. For our bill to be close to $80 I was expecting more than half of us to be able to eat our food and not end up with food poisoning. Food was very good. The potatoes were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Solid portion size as well we left very full. The restaurant had plenty of seating for the time we went and was very relaxing. Only issue we ran into is after we finished our food it took over 25 minutes to get the check and pay the bill. The food was good. I had huevos rancheros that was quite tasty and generous. The service was excellent and attentive refilling coffee and checking if we needed anything else. Overpriced, subpar food. They suck at simple things like pancakes - they charge "real maple syrup" prices and they give you cheap syrup in disposable plastic. ALSO IMPORTANT, they have a total lack of care for the neighborhood--they've turned the sidewalk into a rat haven with trash, grease, and traps everywhere. Let's hope they go out of business soon so a good owner can move in. read more

We used to frequent the place was Chez Pascal, one of the city's more congenial establishments. Unfortunately, it closed when the owners went off to Singapore and the place was transformed into a breakfast-brunch restaurant. This new incarnation has lost all of the charm of the original and the redesign is a most unfortunate hodgepodge of different styles somewhere between a garish roadside cafe and a bad chain establishment. Very disappointing indeed. We had a breakfast of different Eggs Benedicts (bacon and avocado) which were cooked just right. The potatoes were well done which is how I like them, but the seasoning was too salty. My companion's fruit was nicely ripe - something one seldom finds in such breakfast joints. The coffee was OK but they do not have decaf which is a pity. The place was almost empty during this weekday although there was a stream of people picking up their orders. The kitchen seemed to be having a hard time keeping up. Our server, Kiara, who was new, was cheerful and efficient. The check came to over $45 - more than at a diner and about what a decent restaurant would charge. The food was fine but the place is tacky - unfortunately. I could not bring myself to give more than two stars because of the design. I am not sure if I will be back because of the design and ambiance (actually the lack of it). read more

This place reeks of stale canola oil and the waitress's cigarettes, which she sometimes tucks into the windshield wipers of her car to save for later. The interior decor, once beautiful and cozy in the Chez Pascale days, now looks like a Holiday Inn Brothel with McMansion decor. There is even a plastic waterfall and fake chandelier. Outside, they've painted it the most hideous color in the Pantone palette (baby vomit beige) and put tacky signs outside that make it look like an off-brand Jiffy Lube. The food is overpriced, uninspired, and heavy on unimaginative starches. And they expect you to pay $3.99 for something called "hot coffee." You can get fancy George Howell coffee at nearby Seven Stars for far less than that! Stoned people ordering takeout and fake reviews must keep this place afloat because the tables are half empty even on farmers' market Saturdays, when any decent restaurant would have a line out the door with loyal patrons. Want a cozy diner brunch in the neighborhood? Save a bunch of money and go to Blue Cottage down the street -- better prices, better food. Even Three Sisters, sad home of the soggy lettuce panini, earns a Michelin star in comparison to this place. read more

Jazzy's is a crime against our neighborhood. It's possible that if it were merely an below-average diner, I'd be inclined to be more forgiving. But it's a below-average, over-priced diner that replaced Chez Pascal, and desecrated that beautiful space with the most soulless and basic interior available. Good classic diner food with an extensive Tex-Mex breakfast menu as well. This place was good for a Sunday morning brunch with two kids (they have highchairs and a kids' menu which is always good for us). I had pancakes (huge!) and eggs. My wife got huevos rancheros, both happy with our food. Service was nice and friendly. They appeared to be getting a bit backed up with takeout orders just as we left, but it sounded like people were coming to pick up before their estimated time. Excited for what is to come, really a 3.5 almost 4. They just opened, and are only doing breakfast / lunch until 2pm. I hope they eventually do dinner or else the fully stocked bar is a waste. Not a lot of people ordering wine or candy cane Smirnoff before 2pm in this area. Avocado Benedict- good. English muffin was small. Home fries are good but are more than 60% of the plate. And I actually asked for beans but wasn't going to cause a fuss. One of maybe 6 customers there I would probably have not missed that detail. Same with lobster Benny - it was good but nothing to rave about. Again very small / thin English muffin and a lot of home fries to fill the plate. Got 2 iced chai lattes. 2 mimosas (specialty on the menu - good but very sweet) the Benedict's and an egg sandwich to go - came out to $91 before tip. A little steep for essentially massive plates of home fries with small poached eggs and English muffins. Presentation left much to be desired. Big shoes to fill after Chez left and us local to the area looking for a new spot to explore. Advice: build out some PM options even if they are light snacks to draw in the after work crowd. Firstly , the location of this place is an A+. it's on Hope St very close to Blackstone Blvd . But , it's a very average diner. The food is very soso and i expected more given its location in the East Side . If you're looking for healthy options here , forget it . Hardly any vegan items . No vegan cheese . Their toast bread is so average . The service is very typical of a diner ( very rushed and robotic ) . if it weren't for the location , i'd give it a 1 star. So disappointed . It's a typical meh diner . This place has so much potential and could have been a sensational diner , esp give the location and the size of the establishment . Came in for breakfast with a group of 5. Jazzy''s is still fairly new, offering just breakfast and lunch (until 2pm) for now until they work out service, style, staffing. That's a pity since the full bar is really attractive, but likely untouched on weekdays. We got a large comfortable table right by the front window. It was a Thursday, but there were 2 or 3 other tables taken at 7:30am. Despite other reviewers' skepticism, breakfast and lunch make sense in this neighborhood! Several other spots within a few miles are only breakfast/brunch/lunch. Given that, Jazzy' s needs to offer a strong experience to build folks willing to come back (for an early meal, and then for drinks and apps, and or dinner). So. On to our experience to see how that's going: Service was quick and friendly, and our meal orders were taken accurately. Food was delivered all together, without a long wait. My special request (sautéed spinach instead of potatoes or the fruit option listed on the menu) was accommodated with no "let me check" first; I liked that. The omelet was large and stuffed full of veggies and cheese; not overly greasy, thankfully. Both the spinach and the omelet were just a touch over-salted for me. I can add salt, but can't take it away. The chocolate chip pancakes were a hit: not too dry, not too sweet. But - a small take out cup for the syrup was a disappointment. There wasn't enough syrup for the order, pouring it out of the small plastic cup was messier than it should have been, and it felt like the syrup was being rationed since we had to ask for more a few times since there were lots of pancakes at our table. One of my daughters commented (before she ordered it) that she dislikes naming a breakfast for a gender. The "Hungry-Man breakfast" could easily be called "Hungry Person" or just "Hungry Morning." She reminded me that lots of places use that label without thinking how it can make anyone with a big appetite feel. But, she thought the bacon was perfectly cooked and the pancakes were good but for the syrup issue. All of us would have appreciated having a carafe or two of coffee left on the table. We kept calling the waitress over for refills since all 5 of us like coffee - and this was a good cup. Overall, there were very few bumpy moments given how new the restaurant is. The decor at Jazzy's is varied, but of course it's not really why we go to restaurants. It's ultimately a comfortable atmosphere for a casual to moderately fancy brunch. There is a full bar and they have a long cocktail list as well as a variety of mimosas. The service was good, and on a Sunday we'd reccomend getting there before 11 to beach the church crowd. Alex had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The waffles were fluffy and were a nice compliment to the savory chicken. The bacon and jalapeño topping was excellent as well. Julianna had the mocha coffee and Portuguese Omelette with cinnamon apples. Coffee with delicious, but Julianna was recommended a side of either home fries or cinnamon apple. She went with cinnamon apples and felt she made the wrong choice. The omelet was nice, but light on filling. Overall, this was a nice brunch experience. We would go back for sure! read more

It is unfortunate that the owners of this restaurant care so little about the neighborhood. They let Matt's beautiful rooftop garden go to weed and never bothered to clean up those planters. We came upon this place on because of FB, as they have no website as of yet. But they did advertise an $8.99 breakfast special, so we decided to give them a shot. The special was rather good, but my husband who ordered the 'Biscuits and Gravy' with an extra side of pancakes, was not so impressed. He stated that the pancakes were too heavy. Stopped in here with some friends while visiting Providence. What a neighborhood gem! The omelet was one of the best I've ever had and it was hard to choose a side because they all sounded so good. I went with cinnamon apples, which were very tasty and also sampled a friend's homefries - kinda wish I'd had my own plate. The servers were friendly and the ambience is eclectic and charming. Jazzy's has average diner food, which is too bad because I can walk to this location and did several times for the previous establishment, Chez Pascal. That was some of the best food around, and it is missed. Unfortunately Jazzy's had a lot to live up to. If this place was located off the highway in a rural area, it would be fine, but it's on Hope Street. There is a lot of competition and the clientele that has come to expect great food. The decor has been downgraded since the previous owner. There is a giant plastic fake wishing well in the middle of the dining room, and my girlfriend was horrified by the Keno screen. We didn't think anyone still played Keno. The french toast didn't have any flavor of cinnamon, despite the cinnamon apples being covered in cinnamon. I know you have it back there, use it on the french toast! I can look past all of these issues, but what is unforgivable to me is fake maple syrup. Why, in a state that makes its' own maple syrup, would you serve packets of "syrup" where the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup and sugar the 2nd ingredient? Opening a breakfast place in New England and not serving real maple syrup should be a crime. The money was obviously spent on the bar, which is enormous for a breakfast/lunch place. On the upside, this place will never have a wait for breakfast, just bring your own syrup! read more

I have been to Jazzy's twice for breakfast both times I've had excellent service. First time I had a smoked salmon omelette and the second time I had grilled steak and eggs. The telephone and inhouse service is consistently friendly, efficient and customer first pleasing. If you remember Chez Pascal, you now know where Jazzy's is on Hope Street, and the renovations are amazing! Wide open spaces with lots of windows and very clean. I have enjoyed breakfasts from veggie omelets to egg specials plates. I have devoured with enthusiasm an assortment of tuna sandwiches, chicken paninis, turkey clubs and eggplant parm subs! Plates are consistently generous portions and piping hot. Wait staff has continually been prompt, patient and helpful. I had a wonderful espresso martini and a Cuban and both were very good. My husband had the veal parm sandwich which was also good. The only real miss were the fries. We usually eat them all when they are good and these just were not worth eating. Like another reviewer said it is odd that they are starting out serving breakfast 7 days a week and only are open until 2. Having lived a few blocks away for over 20 years people aren't around eating breakfast during the week but they are however always looking for a good new place for cocktails and apps after work so hopefully they will start staying open later. It would be a nice addition to the neighborhood bar options because they do have a well stocked bar that won't get much use before 2pm. read more
